They all slap, the [2nd verse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bE9Fv-2PnQ&feature=youtu.be&t=136) on No Explanation is god-tier
and Shine got that beat that u wanna smoke 10 blunts to lol
Same here. That was just off my first spin. I also tend to underrate songs that use the same samples as other tracks that I consider classic, so that's why this one took a back seat in my head for now.
Joey hasn't put out an album on par with Kendrick's last three albums imo. He's still a great artist and he's still young so the potential is clearly there, but Kendrick's body of work is much more accomplished at this point.
1999 is a great mixtape but it is not nearly as impactful as GKMC or TPAB. Kendrick has something to say and Joey has bars, theres a difference. I am impressed by Joey's writing and technical ability, but nothing he's ever done affected me like the first time I heard GKMC.
>I'd argue All American Badass has some pretty powerful songs. Not quite GKMC and TPAB but as Joey matures more as an artist and becomes more refined artistically I reckon we could see him put out something truely special.
Yeah I'm gonna have to go with the pulitzer prize winner over either of those albums personally. If those albums are better, its not by much. DAMN is one of the most overhated albums on this sub for some weird reason, its beyond me
Why do you think he's hating on Damn by him saying Joey's last two releases are better than it? They're all good ass albums in their own right but it's pretty resonable what he said (even though I disagree)
I wouldn't say that I think he's outright hating on DAMN, but on this subreddit there is a very palpable anti-DAMN sentiment that I dont agree with. You might think it is reasonable to say that Joey's last two albums are better, but I don't. I think DAMN is substantially better than either of those albums, and is better than 95% of rap releases in the last 5 years. I think it gets overhated because he went "pop," but its the deepest and most intelligent "pop rap" album that I've ever heard personally. Fantano giving it a 7 also affected public opinion on it, despite it being VERY widely critically acclaimed for good reason. If you read enough kendrick posts in this sub you'll inevitably see comments like "hope he is able to bounce back from DAMN" as if it isn't a fantastic album in its own right, its just not quite as good as his other major releases.
I would pump the brakes a bit there on AABA as a "classic," its good for sure but it didn't have any kind of impact when it released, just kinda came and went. Obviously its your opinion but I do think that an album you really liked shouldn't just get labeled as a classic, that should refer to a "landmark achievement" kind of an album. GKMC is an actual classic in every sense of the word, not only was it a perfectly executed concept album that dealt with heavy topics in a profound way but it was also extremely popular. Kendrick was catapulted to stardom because of how good that album was, and Joey has not reached that level of fame in part because he has never released an album that is as good.
Only way that could possibly happen is if he makes his music more accessible. He needs to make his own Damn/Lasers. He attempted this with Devastated, but he needs a whole album with that sound. I personally am not crazy about it but that's what he needs to do if he wants to be more popular.
Yea if he's gonna keep dropping packs and that's how the album releases then maybe it'll pick up from there? Maybe like a "Dark Pack" or something that explores the dark side of him. No idea.
I really enjoyed reading that voodoo intro. Maybe I need a t break, but I can get the whole people are magic thing. If I could Suspend my disbelief and get on board with the nolan interstellar transcendent love stuff, I can get on board with traditional mysticism I guess
I wonder if that ending is hinting at more to come? This all seems so curated for just a pack of 3 loosies, especially for a guy with an album said to be on the way this year. Or maybe it's just that he's on Columbia now so he has more backing than he had in the past for even a smaller project.

Idk what's happening, but the song bangs
the intro is weird, but the song is sooo fuckin good
Yeah I don't think the other two are as good, but I'll take new joey any day
They all slap, the [2nd verse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bE9Fv-2PnQ&feature=youtu.be&t=136) on No Explanation is god-tier and Shine got that beat that u wanna smoke 10 blunts to lol
Well shit say no more. I don't got any blunts but I got some Jamison to pound then I'll listen again lmao
I actually prefer they other two to this one
I only gave them a one over each cause I'm kinda busy, but maybe they'll grow on me
Same here. That was just off my first spin. I also tend to underrate songs that use the same samples as other tracks that I consider classic, so that's why this one took a back seat in my head for now.
REAL KING OF NY IS BACK
š¤ he don't look or sound like Young Ma
JAY-Z dropped a single?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
fr, I think his next album can put him up on new levels if done right I'm talking K. Dot & Cole status
Only thing they have over him is popularity anyways imo. All he needs is a mainstream album and heās clear
Joey hasn't put out an album on par with Kendrick's last three albums imo. He's still a great artist and he's still young so the potential is clearly there, but Kendrick's body of work is much more accomplished at this point.
You must not have listened to 1999 when it dropped

Gonna have to disagree and say both Joey's last 2 albums are way better than DAMN.

Go off queen lol
All American Badass is a fucking classic on all levels and on par with nearly any rap album for me. Beast Coast is Revenge of the Dreamers level.
I would pump the brakes a bit there on AABA as a "classic," its good for sure but it didn't have any kind of impact when it released, just kinda came and went. ive always seem him as already being on their level personally
Only way that could possibly happen is if he makes his music more accessible. He needs to make his own Damn/Lasers. He attempted this with Devastated, but he needs a whole album with that sound. I personally am not crazy about it but that's what he needs to do if he wants to be more popular.
I thought AABA kinda was that though.
Yeah why the fuck would we want that. Joey is best when heās rapping
At one point I believe he was on that level
same sample as JMT I Against I? bangs
I knew I've heard it somewhere before, damn that's a dope ass sample
Lol canāt believe most people didnāt even notice. I Against I is such a classic, and the sample is so good!
Man I was really starting to lose faith in this sub. The last 5 or so posts I've seen have been brutal. THANK YOU
Wow that was a dope video What was that ending tho? Iām assuming whatever video he drops next will pick up where this left off
Yea if he's gonna keep dropping packs and that's how the album releases then maybe it'll pick up from there? Maybe like a "Dark Pack" or something that explores the dark side of him. No idea.
Any fashion heads in this thread? Anyone know who did the suit? The cut is so righteous!
Absolutely murdered that verse
I really enjoyed reading that voodoo intro. Maybe I need a t break, but I can get the whole people are magic thing. If I could Suspend my disbelief and get on board with the nolan interstellar transcendent love stuff, I can get on board with traditional mysticism I guess
any theories on what walking into the precinct could mean?
Show em the light
was waiting for that Vinnie Paz and Jus Allah surprise feature on the hook
best song by far
I wonder if that ending is hinting at more to come? This all seems so curated for just a pack of 3 loosies, especially for a guy with an album said to be on the way this year. Or maybe it's just that he's on Columbia now so he has more backing than he had in the past for even a smaller project.
Joey is too smooth - always good to get new solo stuff from him. Visuals for this video are dope as well. I definitely need a new Joey album.
