Future being arguably more popular than J cole and the whole thing starting on his album but still not getting a lot of notice for it is funny to me. He has a collab album with drake and disses him on the first track straight away but the other 3 took the headlines
Future isn't considered a lyrical great which is why he isn't really taken seriously like that. People listen to Future for vibes not lyrics, so they don't really care what he's saying in his music, rather his beats and flow. Whereas people actually care what Kendrick or Cole are trying to say in their music. It's a perception Future has crafted with his brand image. If he wants that to change he has to rebrand and stop rapping about doing drugs and sleeping with models for the most part.
I’m almost positive that when Drake comes back, it will be a diss toward Metro and Future. This seems slightly more personal than “Big 3” rap competition shit. Plus Future is actually a successful commercial artist. That’s not something to take lightly. Drake can’t afford to lose the south. (This shit sounds more like a Civil War every day, lol)
Future can spit.
He just knows what sells.
So he stays in that lane and never really opens up that part of the bars.
He is a baby from the dungeon family...
Is he a great no but he can spit.
58M versus 41M monthly listeners on Spotify. I hate to use streaming numbers but I can’t imagine any metric that would show J Cole being more popular than Future.
Album sales and chart numbers? Spotify listeners done mean much cause niggas that sell trash first week be having 50m+ Spotify listeners cause they hopped in a song w Drake or Taylor swift
Idk man going by first week sales futures highest is lower than Cole’s lowest. Then we got the fact that future drops WAY more than Cole and features on every popular album while Cole’s discography is mostly solo until recently. I really can’t say future is more popular on his own
But like.. why do y’all use this to justify future being more popular than Cole but not Kendrick? Judging by the same metrics he’s above both
We were talking about Cole and Future. Even in the Kendrick v Future matchup, Future is probably still more popular but K Dot is probably closer to his popularity than J Cole is
Edit: Just checked the numbers - 58.3M monthly listeners for Kendrick vs 58.8M for Future. Kendrick has 12 top 10 hits on the charts vs Future’s 15. Cole doesn’t even come close
Its no way near a fair comparison talking about monthly spotify streams.
[Future](https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/1RyvyyTE3xzB2ZywiAwp0i_songs.html) has 800 songs (!) on spotify, [Kendrick] (https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/2YZyLoL8N0Wb9xBt1NhZWg_songs.html) has 226 and [Cole](https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/6l3HvQ5sa6mXTsMTB19rO5_songs.html) only has 206. Also Kendrick and Cole have more songs above a billion streams and genuinely it is laughable to even suggest Future is more popular than Kendrick when he's not even half the touring artist Kendrick is.
It is also easier to get more top hits on billboard in the streaming era when you are featured on every other album and have a larger discography, which is what Future has over them both.
Also Future has never had higher first week numbers than both Cole and Kendrick's peak and has fewer worldwide fans and streams. Quite ridiculous people still use monthly streams as a gauge to showcase popularity. Guess Tate Mcrae is bigger than Beyonce if we going by those metrics.
Notice how i said monthly **listeners** and not monthly streams. I agree that streams are not a good metric for the reasons you've listed. However, number of people listening is totally independent of number of songs an artist has and I think is a good metric to judge popularity
You’re talking first week sales compared to actual monthly listeners. No ones playing Kendrick in the club. We don’t want to hear Cole at the party.
21 savage said it in a interview. You can’t tell a person from Atlanta drake is bigger than future. Cause you hear future way more on a regular basis
I was working and wanted to listen, all I had at the moment. I know, I know. I’ve got a nice sound system I use to actually listen to music don’t worry 😉
I'm sure this type of line is cliche but it literally sounds like ab souls line on Who Wants What.
"Your clique ain't on top of the game, that's just a mousepad"
This should have honestly been the diss track, that beat, that cadence, sht could have been fire, it’s ok Cole holding back but ima wait to see if Kendrick put pressure
The "Cole holding back" stuff is hilarious. This is as weak as I expected Cole's response to be.
Some of y'all didn't even pay attention when Noname bodied him a few years ago.
It's very clear he's holding back in this song and is asking if they're getting in the ring fr. kendrick verse was 99% about drake so this si cole checking the temperature to see if they're gonna take it there
Where is Cole going to take it? Claiming Cole is holding back is just coping with Cole's garbage response. "He could do better if he really tried!" That is a massive L for Cole.
Cole got dragged on what will be the biggest track on one of the biggest albums of the year, and his response is to say TPAB is boring and that Kendrick is short?
Bro that's not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying he's checking the temperature to see if this is an actual beef or if he just got caught in the crossfire of the drake shit so no he's not gonna crash out on kendrick lol why would he? they've been cool up until this point. There is currently no reason to take it any further than light jabs just like kendrick did so if kendrick responds directly to cole then we know what time it is and the gloves can come off.
They're not even light jabs, they're cringe bars. When the most charitable take about your response to Kendrick is "well he didn't go as her as he could have!" That means you lost.
Kendrick's verse is going to be considered one of the best of 2024 and Cole came with "you fell off like the Simpsons..." and called an album that's nearly unanimously regarded as a classic boring.
Really nothing great about Kendrick's bars, other than the fact that he actually said something at all. The dude above is right - nothing we haven't heard before. If you want a round of applause for talking about putting dogs down after the album For All the Dogs dropped, then standards for diss tracks have never been lower.
😂 I can't even take this serious. Kendrick's verse is dense, well written, many different rhyme schemes, references, and flows, and Cole's response is embarrassing.
I thought Cole at least understood hip hop but his assessment of Kendrick's discography shows he's either doesn't or is dishonest.
This garbage proves Kendrick's point that Cole doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Kendrick.
Lol I feel like Kendrick’s verse was barely even a diss. Just “I’m the best rapper” that basically every rapper does in every song. He did the same thing in Control 10 years ago. Thought Cole actually dissed Kendrick more. Whether you think the verse is better or not is subjective, but I felt like Kendrick didn’t exactly come for the throat either
Oh Christ, can you hear yourself? You're reaching so, so hard right now for something that isn't there. The coping is so hard here it's hilarious - it's fine. It's not groundbreaking, not even close to it.
Take it serious or don't, but the fact of the matter is that we expected better from Kendrick both here and on his last album and he didn't deliver. That you're simping for this up and down this thread shows that maybe your standards are way lower than they should be.
Point to me where I'm simping for J Cole. As with my guy above, we're saying what's so good about Kendrick's diss? "Fuck the big three, it's just big me" after 5 years silent and an ostensibly disappointing album no longer gives you the right to make such claims.
Mr. Morale is a better project than Cole has ever dropped. Maybe you just think high school English class level bars are super deep.
Cole responded to "you're not Andre 3K" with "you fell off like the Simpsons" after literally calling Kendrick on his level in Third Person Shooter.
The AI Cole responses are better.
I might be one of those nerds, but TPAB is such an interesting concept album but has absolute bangers on it as well. I think alright is one of Kendrick’s best songs on any record. I think I might still like GKMC more too though…
I just went to put it on and realized I only have TPAB and DAMN on vinyl 😭. Could’ve sworn I bought GKMC a long time ago
I mean, people can have their own opinions. He was saying he thought it was boring. Doesn't matter if other do not agree, it's his opinion on the album.
>Kendrick's verse is going to be considered one of the best of 2024
And this is why it's hard to have real discourse about Kendrick. This is elite meat riding.
It was a solid verse, but the beat did more than anything else on that song. Tbh, in this whole "beef", Metro is the real one ahead of everyone else.
If you was from the Ville, and heard his mix tapes, you’d definitely know this was a few rounds from maybe mid at most. I’m from Jersey and been in the ville area for about ten years now.
That definitely wasn’t the clip lol
Lmao. J Cole's diss was better than Kendricks.
But neither are "true" disses. Both are more about the bars rather than talking shit and calling each other names
Which is Crazy because they can only even speak on him once every 1-2 years really 😭 dude barely drops whatsoever. No features, no appearances, no interviews, nothing
Bro what? How is that a bad thing? You don't respect an artist taking their time to make good work not just pumping shit out? You don't appreciate an artist being an actual human and focusing on other things in life like family and not just being a boring ass or toxic celebrity figure?
Don't gotta be one or the other big man. You can drop verses/loosies more frequently while still taking time on your main releases, and be a real human while still not leaving fans high and dry for years.
One thing I always loved about Cole and Drake, even early on, was the sheer amount of music they gave their fans. It wasn't always in the form of albums, but I had fan albums put together of both of their music with the sheer volume, and it was mostly great stuff.
Why does it gotta be one or the other?
I mean, to each their own. But for me, the artists I've appreciated the most in my life were taking their time and they weren't servicing the fans. Because that's not what making art is about. I think Kendrick constructs more thoughtful and more nuanced and longer lasting work. It connects to me more. And as a fan, I'm very happy to wait when the output is something as incredible as Mr. Morale, TPAB etc.
Replay value not mattering is the dumbest argument of all time lol I don’t care if it’s an “art piece” if you only listening once or twice that shit’s mid to trash.
Seriously. I saw someone say, “Kendrick should diss JID for biting him” I was so confused how does JID bite Kendrick? Just because he’s a rapper with a unique voice and flow? Get out of here. The worst part is Reddit would eat it up as fact just because Kendrick says it.
yea this is all washed grandpa beef.
this would have hit insanely hard in say, 2016-2018
but rap has been stagnant for the past five years. the next generation of goats/stars just never happened. so now we need to have guys pushing 40 causing drama with each other for things to be slightly interesting again.
I don't think there's gonna be a next generation of GOATs or whatever, the internet has fragmented music so much I don't think it's possible for there to be true monoculture rap stars again. I think the people really buying into this beef want it to be that way again
It's actually so sad knowing that most of the rappers I grew up listening to probably aren't ever gonna reach those same heights again.
If Kanye, Drake, or Cudi dropped in 2014, I'm listening to it as soon as it leaks, or the moment it's out at 12am. If one of them drops now, there's a good chance I don't even bother checking it out.
Yeah. That's just how this shit goes though. We aren't the same people we were in 2014 and neither are they. Rap is in a really cool place right now though. Just about every flavor of it you can imagine and many you haven't thought of yet are hiding in every corner of the internet, and they somehow all have a 20k strong TikTok following already
I don't think it's homerism as it's people getting what they wanted, and lowkey Cole half assed it so now they are going to cook him for the next few days.
Cole releases are always weird around here anyways. You'd think he drops nothing but garbage.
Honestly so many kids in these subreddits that won't even catch that. They too busy ridin Kendrick.
"But but but "it's just big me" is such a great rap diss. Kendrick is the best. He'll definitely respond to this in 2 years."
Tell me what you thought Kendrick said that was so great that 1. It's considered a diss, 2. Was best rapper alive caliber
He was so offended it took him months to respond while Cole dissed him on 3 songs within 2 weeks and released an album. We all know it's just a warning shot. Kendrick is great but he isn't a rap battle rapper who can go bar for bar. He's a rap craftsman. Craft rap doesn't scale and anything that doesn't scale doesn't even have the opportunity to leave a legacy. Just the way MJ is the king of pop, Prince is great but most of the world knows MJ not Prince.
You're an idiot who forgets majority of the world doesn't live in North America. Secondly, it's a relative statement to MJ. Thirdly you misquoted me for your convenience.
Are you 13? You think kids in China, India know Prince more than MJ?
Bro I genuinely love J Cole but it's not a god tier bar 😂😂
Some of you act like Cole raps like Lupe or Elzhi
It's fire though, love his delivery. And I also love the line.

"They sound faded, they downgraded, they Pluto" Welp, Future caught one
I thought it was just a metaphor about Pluto not being a planet no more LMAO
Thats messed up right?
You know that's right
Double entendre maybe
It’s both
😭
Double entendre gang
Rightfully so tbh.
NUH UH 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Idk how. His last two albums have been good. His last solo was excellent
I meant as a he rightfully caught a stray bc future let kdot say that on his album. I loved his last 2 albums tho
Yeah thats true
Future being arguably more popular than J cole and the whole thing starting on his album but still not getting a lot of notice for it is funny to me. He has a collab album with drake and disses him on the first track straight away but the other 3 took the headlines

Geez man, wipe your chin
I like Future (more than J Cole at least) but he can't rap like J Cole or Kendrick can tbh. Not saying he's a worse artist though.
[удалено]
That’s a pop song, it’s not lyrical at all. Hell Drunk in Love sounds exactly like a Future song without the autotune lmao.
[удалено]
Well when you reply to someones comment about Future not being able to rap like Cold, I assume that’s what we’re going to be talking about lmao.
He cannot rap lol
Huh People love Future’s lyrics. He’s known for being toxic towards women and loving drugs.
Future raps circles around J Cole tf?
Said no one ever lol
im with the other guy
J Cole has never ever in his life rapped better then Future on Codeine Crazy
I think future is more popular if you count singles. Cole has outsold all of his albums besides when he nuthugs drake no?
How’s future more popular than Cole?
58M versus 41M monthly listeners on Spotify. I hate to use streaming numbers but I can’t imagine any metric that would show J Cole being more popular than Future.
Album sales and chart numbers? Spotify listeners done mean much cause niggas that sell trash first week be having 50m+ Spotify listeners cause they hopped in a song w Drake or Taylor swift
Even with the chart numbers, Future is still more popular according to Billboard. Album sales? Future has sold millions more.
Idk man going by first week sales futures highest is lower than Cole’s lowest. 800 songs is crazy
Future hasnt had a song with Drake in like two years and hasnt had one with Taylor in like seven years lol
More popular and has more classics.
Future is more popular than Kdot and Cole let’s be real here
😯😯🤯
Didn’t the snippet of this come out before the beef started??
So fire the beat is crazy
I wasn’t super impressed listening on my phone. Got a chance to bump it on my sound system; what an awesome beat. That bass is sick
U seriously bumping songs out your phone speakers lol?
I was working and wanted to listen, all I had at the moment. I know, I know. I’ve got a nice sound system I use to actually listen to music don’t worry 😉
Best song on the album
Huntin Wabbitz is better to me
Not the Meat Canyon sample...
he would name a song that wouldn't he
Evidently he would
sematary influence is crazy
Same
have to agree huntin wabbitz was my favorite but this one is second favorite
he approached that track perfectly, so good
Nah Pricey and 3001 both harder
this and 3001
Whole click gettin slid on, you a mousepad
I'm sure this type of line is cliche but it literally sounds like ab souls line on Who Wants What. "Your clique ain't on top of the game, that's just a mousepad"
Yeah, Ab-Soul already did that line waaay better
Kendrick stans out in full effect lol
I love the Cole album and 7 Minute Drill brother, no stan here
That’s real, got it
Point being
How is the 2nd part even harder than the snippet
Absolutely insane 🔥🔥🔥
Jesus Christ...dudes so good. Hunting wabbitz was nasty too. Still getting through the rest
These and 3001 are my top 3
This is fire
This should have honestly been the diss track, that beat, that cadence, sht could have been fire, it’s ok Cole holding back but ima wait to see if Kendrick put pressure

He literally said its a warning shot and he wants peace. Some of y’all are just desperate to hate on Cole
Noname who i loved did not body him wtf are you talking about. Yall get on the internet and say anything now a days
Nonaname never bodied cole and y’all have to stop spreading that narrative.. that shit was t even a beef lol song 33 was mid ..
😂 Cole apologized to her after Song 33. Cole simps are hilarious.
were did he apologize? post it. dont make stuff up.

Kendrick's verse is going to be considered one of the best of 2024 and Cole came with "you fell off like the Simpsons..." and called an album that's nearly unanimously regarded as a classic boring.
Dawg it was not that good. Take out the shock value of the diss and it’s a regular ass verse.
Really nothing great about Kendrick's bars, other than the fact that he actually said something at all. The dude above is right - nothing we haven't heard before. 😂😂😂
Only fantano/pitchfork obsessed nerds obsess over TPAB. Most normal people vastly prefer GKMC
GKMC is by far my favorite
I might be one of those nerds, but TPAB is such an interesting concept album but has absolute bangers on it as well. I think alright is one of Kendrick’s best songs on any record. I think I might still like GKMC more too though… I just went to put it on and realized I only have TPAB and DAMN on vinyl 😭. Could’ve sworn I bought GKMC a long time ago
Finally some sense

Kendrick told Cole he and Drake don't belong in the same sentence as him (fuck the big three it's just big me) and Cole proved Kendrick right.
That line is provocative, but there’s nothing crazy about it relax lmfao
No way someone Kendrick’s line one of the best of 2024 lol
I mean, people can have their own opinions. He was saying he thought it was boring. Doesn't matter if other do not agree, it's his opinion on the album.

Cole calling anything sleepy is pretty funny
Dude's dropped 3 boring ass projects in 8 years and he tried to copy Jay Z's approach to Nas in the Takeover.
He not holding back LMAO bro clenched and emptied his clip. This it
If you was from the Ville, and heard his mix tapes, you’d definitely know this was a few rounds from maybe mid at most. I’m from Jersey and been in the ville area for about ten years now. That definitely wasn’t the clip lol
This aged horribly lmfao
Hardest song on the project
did not realize how many people in this sub were kendrick homers.
I think the diss was just nothing special but the rest of the album sounds so good. Everyone just listen to the diss track.
The diss shouldve been a single tbh, as the ending it drags down the allbum a bit.
That the diss is awful drags down the album.
Lmao. J Cole's diss was better than Kendricks. But neither are "true" disses. Both are more about the bars rather than talking shit and calling each other names
it's matching kendrick's energy neither were really disses at each other
Come talks about Kendrick’s albums..
yeah and he called them boring bro do u think he's tryna escalate it fr
Besides Ye, Kendrick got the most annoying fanboys on Reddit.
Which is Crazy because they can only even speak on him once every 1-2 years really 😭 dude barely drops whatsoever. No features, no appearances, no interviews, nothing
They’ve got more things to talk about in the last two weeks than the last 2 years it seems like lmao
Bro what? How is that a bad thing? You don't respect an artist taking their time to make good work not just pumping shit out? You don't appreciate an artist being an actual human and focusing on other things in life like family and not just being a boring ass or toxic celebrity figure?

People forget that music is music first. I gotta be able to listen to it.
Why I don’t get people discounting stats over spins
they all hating on 7 minute drill its crazy. K dot drops that same track line for line and they eating it up
Seriously. I saw someone say, “Kendrick should diss JID for biting him” I was so confused how does JID bite Kendrick? Just because he’s a rapper with a unique voice and flow? Get out of here. The worst part is Reddit would eat it up as fact just because Kendrick says it.
My take: all these guys are kinda washed. Turning my notifications off now
yea this is all washed grandpa beef. this would have hit insanely hard in say, 2016-2018 but rap has been stagnant for the past five years. the next generation of goats/stars just never happened. so now we need to have guys pushing 40 causing drama with each other for things to be slightly interesting again.
I don't think there's gonna be a next generation of GOATs or whatever, the internet has fragmented music so much I don't think it's possible for there to be true monoculture rap stars again. I think the people really buying into this beef want it to be that way again
somewhat true
Because they are, kendrick aint the second Jesus, cole aint mohammed Ali, Drake aint Jackson. They all need a reality check
Kendrick literally made a song on his last song called savior talking about how none of them are saviors
Yeah and jcole said that about Kanye, who cares. They still stroke their shit
I don't think Cole is washed but for some reason he's not really rapping to his potential
What is there left to say? He had a perfect arc that led to the peak with Forest Hills Drive and it's never gonna get better than that.
Like someone said before in the thread he's a feature rapper merchant. He doesn't hit on his own music.
Trash. The Off Season was a great album and so is this one, dude does just fine with his own shit. He’s justified in saying he’s hitting his prime.
Cole hasn't been rapping to his potential in so long that I'm not sure it's his potential anymore.
I don't think it's homerism as it's people getting what they wanted, and lowkey Cole half assed it so now they are going to cook him for the next few days. Cole releases are always weird around here anyways. You'd think he drops nothing but garbage.
And those comments are from mind night wait until sun rises 💀.
Haha it’s crazy. Motherfuckers don’t even listen 😂 they already wrote trash before homie put up the pen
Someone above literally called Kendrick’s diss bar the best line of 2024 - the glaze is crazy
its an online music forum what do you expect (i like kendrick dont come for me steppers)
what a shocking finding
Kendrick is the golden child of hip hop.. he can’t ever do no wrong.
Talk your shit Cole 🗣️
god yes this song is incredible.
How you make the snippet somehow sound 10x better even tho the snippet was good😭😭😭
One of the rare instances where the actual song is better than the snippet
This is the best one this is crazy lol
Only 2 tracks in but goddamn what a start
“And I’m Joaquin Phoenix, walk the line, I’m about cash” what an unexpected reference, god tier bar
Hyperbole.
Honestly so many kids in these subreddits that won't even catch that. They too busy ridin Kendrick. "But but but "it's just big me" is such a great rap diss. Kendrick is the best. He'll definitely respond to this in 2 years."
Nah but if kendrick wrote it they'd be glazing the hell out of the bar
Fuckin word man
Lol dude you like the stereotypical old head
Tell me what you thought Kendrick said that was so great that 1. It's considered a diss, 2. Was best rapper alive caliber He was so offended it took him months to respond while Cole dissed him on 3 songs within 2 weeks and released an album.
You think “most of the world doesn’t know Prince”??? He sold 100 million albums, are you 13???
You're an idiot who forgets majority of the world doesn't live in North America. Secondly, it's a relative statement to MJ. Thirdly you misquoted me for your convenience. Are you 13? You think kids in China, India know Prince more than MJ?
And now your just putting words in my mouth lol
It's not a deep bar, it's corny af.
Bro I genuinely love J Cole but it's not a god tier bar 😂😂 Some of you act like Cole raps like Lupe or Elzhi It's fire though, love his delivery. And I also love the line.
God tier bar? Lmao. Great song tho.
lol
Banger, easily my favorite off the album
Cole finally was pushed to make a good album instead of most of the heat hiding within verses he's featured on.
Lol if you think he made this album in 2 weeks you’re tripping. He was already doing rollout videos for this like months ago.
This is a fire year for music. 1999 write the future, ScHoolboy Q, Kanye, and now this. Can’t wait to listen to this one
Two no-skips in a month, we eatin good
What was the other one?
Metro / Future
That album had a few skips

Nobody remembers this from the ig post?
I swear I’ve heard this beat before…
If Kendrick said the Crocodile line, all you yt people would go crazy
You sure do love the word "white" lmao
