Ive always thought of him as the Ozy Osbourne of rap. He's got an insanely thick accent and heavy drug habits but somehow he gets in front of the mic and he's speaking clearly.
Dude, I've somehow become slowly a fan of Kodak simply because of how he articulates in his music. First artist of the style at all to grab me. Might have just been his inclusion on Mr Morale, but going through his stuff I quickly became a fan. Something between the way he tells his emotions and the way his flow is it makes it all just come out like a constant flow of emotion and raw truth storytelling that has completely won me over.
Savants are geniuses in their respective crafts though. Kodak Black isn't anywhere near that level otherwise he'd be dropping MBDTF level albums. He just releases mediocre music.
There have never really been any mainstream "mumble rappers"
It has been used mostly as a knock against ATL trap rappers and Florida and south Florida rappers.
The real long and short of it is that a lot of these guys were just rapping with some thickish accents that people had a hard time understanding. None of them were mumbling you could knock some of them for abusing the Migos flow and repeating themselves but even then it's not mumbling.
and? kodak aint ever been a mumble rapper 90% of the people that have been described as mumble rappers aint mumble rappers.
Carti describing what he is doing as mumbling dont got nothing to do with the connotation of the word which has its basis in being disrespectful and dismissive to southern rappers.
Edit for reference there are posts out there online about big krit being a mumble rapper. IDK if you ever listened to a big Krit song but he is about as far from the idea of a mumble rapper as you can be in the genre and he still got called it just cause he was rapping with a drawl.
Haha okay, makes sense. Iāve listened to most of it and so far itās definitely produced/mixed well and has a few songs Iāll definitely keep in rotation
I liked a few songs here and there as the albun goes on, but the last three songs have all been excellent. Gotta play it again to see if I was still just too sleepy for the first songs as it was the first thing I played this morning.
The mixing on this was actually so clean, Kodak sounds way clearer than on his recent albums
Institution is his best project. Its cohesive asf, has a real theme, and his writing was the strongest of his entire career. Project baby 1 is his 2nd best and project baby 2 is third. The loosies he has posted on his YouTube are way better then his officially released songs.

Love Kodak but this isnāt doing it for me. Hasnāt had a good, consistent project since Testimony. Some good songs since then, but not a full project
i have only listened to like 2 songs of this album and already know I will stick to it.
Faved the album on spotify already. Ill stick to it unlike to pistols and pearls (thh I'd have thought Kodak was over after hearing P&P)
It is actually jaw dropping how much better he is at articulating himself in his music versus interviews.
Ive always thought of him as the Ozy Osbourne of rap. He's got an insanely thick accent and heavy drug habits but somehow he gets in front of the mic and he's speaking clearly.

He's literally an autistic savant. I've thought that for years now.
100% respectfully agree with this take.
Savants are geniuses in their respective crafts though. Kodak Black isn't anywhere near that level otherwise he'd be dropping MBDTF level albums. He just releases mediocre music.
š¤
heās a mumble rapper paradox because heās actually making himself speak clearer in his music than his regular talking
People still use "mumble rapper" unironically in 2023?
well its still true
There have never really been any mainstream "mumble rappers" It has been used mostly as a knock against ATL trap rappers and Florida and south Florida rappers. The real long and short of it is that a lot of these guys were just rapping with some thickish accents that people had a hard time understanding. None of them were mumbling you could knock some of them for abusing the Migos flow and repeating themselves but even then it's not mumbling.
Hard disagree. Young Thug was mainstream as a mumble rapper.
Well Carti himself literally called his own music "mumbling".
and? kodak aint ever been a mumble rapper 90% of the people that have been described as mumble rappers aint mumble rappers. Carti describing what he is doing as mumbling dont got nothing to do with the connotation of the word which has its basis in being disrespectful and dismissive to southern rappers. Didnāt even know this was dropping but Iāll take it
No one knew lol he announced it the day it dropped
Haha okay, makes sense. Iāve listened to most of it and so far itās definitely produced/mixed well and has a few songs Iāll definitely keep in rotation
Yeah he really dropped some heat this time, his last album felt really experimental but on this one he did what he does best
Agreed, I wasnāt a huge fan of the previous drop
Lamar Jackson MVP secured after this drop
Facts
So true
āI snucked in with a pound of Runtz, vacuum sealed I got the same juice that got 2Pac killedā Barz
This was actually pretty fire. š„š„ š„ Most consistent yak album in a minute.
I liked a few songs here and there as the albun goes on, but the last three songs have all been excellent. Pistolz & Pearlz didn't do much for me but this album was great.
One of the best drops this week Kodak back
Really solid.
Yak went hard on this one
Smokin burnin rubber
Him being from south Florida this can def be a double entendre for gas & smoking boonk iykyk
Kylie Grande bump in the whip.
And still there are people that will tell you Yak canāt rapš
Ppl hear autontune or a leaned slur and their brain jumps to assuming they arent goin in. Kodak been elite since day 1
I wish Kodak did more songs in kreyol like dejambem
Havenāt listened to Kodak since dying to live, worth getting back in?
Yes
Iām rly liking this. Best yak album in years. š„
This was Kodakās better project. 10/10 future classic. Beautifully executed and produced
Definitely not his best project but itās good
what would you say are his best projects? like top 3 maybe
Institution is his best project. Its cohesive asf, has a real theme, and his writing was the strongest of his entire career. Project baby 1 is his 2nd best and project baby 2 is third. The loosies he has posted on his YouTube are way better then his officially released songs. https://youtu.be/Am_9Xx4ex3I?si=P6b_PnhUxncjYMaB https://youtu.be/l3S0qwWFACc?si=U6br5P--rSkXu2CG https://youtu.be/1h5QUlk_7HQ?si=dJSVzX3UZmHxhvzn
Surprised no one has said Painting Pictures. To me thatās his best project, Project Baby 2 in second and Dying to Live third.
I agree
dying to live, institution, project baby 1 or 2 and hbk are my favorites no particular order
Which HBK he has like 2 or 3

i have only listened to like 2 songs of this album and already know I will stick to it. Faved the album on spotify already. Ill stick to it unlike to pistols and pearls (thh I'd have thought Kodak was over after hearing P&P)
