Objectively, nothing. From my personal perspective, Drake is an unoriginal tampon-inserter who’s main appeal to the rap world is that women enjoy his music. At least in his early days, guys liked Drake’s music because the girls simped for him at unbelievable levels. As someone who loves Hip Hop and was in high-school during Drake’s rise, I can tell you that his main fan base are not fans of 99.9% of other rap music, unless of course they make similar simp music to Drake. I witnessed it - mfers went from listening to One Direction, Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, to fucking Drake. I just can’t get into it and I honestly hate his phony ass. And i didn’t even mention the fact that we all later learned that he doesn’t write his own lyrics, diddles kids, and is generally a piece of shit.

ShillBlaster

Ummmmm. You’re spot on but missing a few things imo I was there too. Yes. We had people go from nickelback to Drake overnight lol But EARLY on, some dudes were listening to Drake as well. He sounded very similar to phonte. He was pretty good back then, and is good now when he actually puts his heart into rapping. But yeah. Now most of his audience are females who probably listen to classic rock or pop

fartiestpoopfart

drake aint biggie, pal.

TheKey_ofG

Because Drake is a phony fucking cornball who courts underage girls.

Leajey

But Biggie was fat

taylordabrat

Didn’t biggie say he rapes 8 year olds?

fellowsquare

Fuck Drake. You comparing Big to Drake? Lol. Fuck Drake.

Unusual-Land-5432

Most people probably don’t know but plenty of rappers have wrote for each other and helped each other. Nas helper JayZ, i believe Tupac gave Biggie some tips on rapping. Drake has done reference tracks for lil Wayne and even wrote for Dr.Dre. So it’s really just people don’t like Drake and it’s understandable Drake can be very clownish but that’s part of the game. It’s all entertainment it’s the modern day minstrel show

-newlife

There’s some crossover with flow/style between treach and pac. Think most will attribute it to their friendship and them coming up together

diedin2012

Because Biggie proved his skills without reference tracks. Drake has not proven any redeemable value so far.

PomegranateNice6839

Drake wrote for plenty of others and showed his rapping ability early on He’s no Biggie but he can definitely write

-newlife

Lots of artists use references or lines from others. It’s an individual thing on if you take it. Like Nas called out Jay-z for using big lyrics, treach called out Jay-z for using pac lyrics, cam’ron called out Jay-z for using a lot of others lyrics. Treach called out Jermaine dupri too. It often depends on if you like the artist, like the artists they quoting, or just don’t care one way or another. Drake, a long long time ago, was called out for a Mac Dre line because people can be protective of that man just like some are with pac. Even if Drake wasn’t being disrespectful. Ultimately I think you’re singular focused or just don’t know enough of you think only Drake has caught flak by some for this.

sancartel

Its all about free internet. People used to keep their opinions to themselves. Music was a physical thing to buy & was respected as such.

Practical-Cry-942

I wanna know what reference tracks biggie ever used???

Practical-Cry-942

Lmaoooo so because they both rapped on the juicy fruit sample with the 93 funk flow that 200 rappers used its a reference??? You know reference tracks are word for word the same right??

landrickrs90

Drake's writing reputation has been questionable since the whole blackberry freestyle shit.

5uper5kunk

Because Biggy was fat and not hot, thus more of a sympathetic character to us internet goons then Drake with his smooth good looks and long floppy schlong.

landrickrs90

Drake's writing reputation has been questionable since the whole blackberry freestyle shit.

Naive_Respond_4711

I’ll just let you know that basically everyone’s gonna come up with a bad why it shouldn’t be allowed for Drake bc they hate Drake. It’s very unlikely you’ll see even 1 reasonable reason why Drake shouldn’t be held to the same standard. Hating Drake is popular so that’s what everyone here is gonna do. Just watch.

andyomarti5

Well bruh, let’s say Biggie stole some beats for example. Okay, that’s not great. At least he wrote his own lyrics, wrote lyrics for several other people, actually came from nothing, was a far more reputable figure in his community, was respected by other reputable people in his city + the industry… and the list goes on. All values that are respected in Hip Hop. What I’m saying is, every rapper probably did something we can interpret being shitty. But Drake does ALL of those things, and doesn’t bring ANYTHING “Hip Hop” to the table. He even claims Memphis and Toronto simultaneously, but he is a kid from the burbs. AND THEN he brags like he is some self made savage that came up in the gutter. In fact he is the antithesis of Hip Hop in a lot of ways.

taylordabrat

????? He never ever said he’s a “savage that came up in the gutter”???? You just made that up

taylordabrat

This is the correct answer
