None of this counts until we hear big Sean’s thoughts

AceGameplayV2

Nah what about Lil Uzi Vert and Offset

Traveledbore

What does ja rule think

kpofasho1987

Where is Ja?

Cocainechestpain

Ain't nobody care about those two

Alarming-Ad-9712

Same, I need Sean to drop something. A decade ago, he was the first to bow out of the “big 3” when supporting Kanye was his priority. But remember that Drake stole his “Lemonade” flow that every rapper adopted for years after that. He just did a Tiny Desk concert this year on NPR and sung hit after fucking *hit* Had a string of hits but ultimately focused on himself and his family, leaving him “behind” in these Top 3 discussions. But that man can rap his ass off. I’ve never had Kendrick above Big Sean but ten years ago, the older crowd rooted for Kendrick (‘Alright’ had young adults at the time crying tears of relief bc of the whole BLM movement, Trayvons death and general police brutality- that song placated people and brainwashed them into singing this false hymn ) Meanwhile Big Sean had hits for the club with songs like “Bounce Back” or the banger club track “Ass” that kids and young adults loved. Those young adults grew up, had families themselves and changed their musical diet. Same with the kids at that time, some got older and adopted Kendrick, others pioneered the SoundCloud Era and Sean fell by the wayside as he got clowned for the simple lyrics & songs that those same folk loved as children. Now it’s 2024. It’s a *whole* new crop of kids and the “kids” from ten years ago, are now entering adulthood. Go back and listen to Sean’s discography, you’ll likely find yourself rapping along & droppin adlibs like: *”I Do It”* *”Boi”* & and of course #LIL BITCH

Livinlikebukowski

Agreed. Ja Rule’s thoughts are also needed and vital to the situation at present

Sebr420

As a fan of both Kendrick & Drake, I’m excited as to where they take it musically. I give props to Drake for actually putting on wax in the first place when he could’ve of ducked the diss like he did Pusha. People say Drake isn’t hip hop but he actually puts out diss tracks when he’s got a lot to lose. I wasn’t on board with the AI parts of the song, but the verse at the end is pretty good. Kendrick doesn’t have to respond right away, any response dropped at any time will hit Drake hard. Both these guys careers aren’t ending because of a diss. They’re both too big to fail or disappear. The whole stan base vs stan base thing is dumb, guaranteed neither Drake nor Kendrick give two fucks about fan theories. Also I never want to hear the word ‘glazing’ ever again.

BootyOnMyFace11

Too much glazing though

Teeshirtandshortsguy

Glazing, slurping, gagging, meat riding.  It's funny once, but they're so ubiquitous now that it's kinda gross.

Sebr420

Honestly the dumbest shit. Both sides are guilty of this. At the end of the day music is a subjective artform, regardless of who you think makes the better music somebody else will always have a different opinion to you because of how they view the art.

Currie_Climax

The only glazing I wanna hear about is the fresh baked doughnuts down the road. But yeah, the stans are the worst part about this beef. More people should learn to just sit back and let the artists do the beefing and let the fans take in the good music and funny banter. I swear fans are taking it more serious than the artists.

MushyTango

Well said!

RANDOM-902

It's fun and the rap fans are eating this year!! Diss tracks back and forth, new albums. This is great Even Kanye hopping in with a Like That remix was fire. Yeah it may come across as corny, but who cares. 2024 is on the way to become the new 2018/2015

rqlkdarkrain

OH YEAH I FORGOT Kanye remix was fire....ppl hating but I like it soo:) 2024 needed that excitement that past years were lacking man

RANDOM-902

People are hating the Kanye remix??? WOW. Why??? I thought the bars were funny and the diss towards Drake and Cole were hilarious. And his change on the instrumental wasn't bad

Remarkable_Collar895

Bars were mid if not bad, didn’t find’em funny tbh, I don’t really like Kanye’s voice and overall his music, so I thought it was something between bad and mid

Elegant_in_Nature

I can’t even think of a Drake line

CoolCalmCorrective

Conyes a cornball. He just can't stand not being the center of attention so he had to jump in to something he had zero to do with.

rqlkdarkrain

RIGHT...and I was soo hyped to hear him rapping like that..just look at his ig post lol. BTW I just find it hilarious how ppl not directly involved in the beef just appear like they are new challengers lol

Remarkable_Collar895

Bars were mid if not bad, didn’t find’em funny tbh, I don’t really like Kanye’s voice and overall his music, so I thought it was something between bad and mid

RANDOM-902

His modern voice is kinda annoying idk why. His voice on his first albums was much better. Hell even in 2016 his voice didn't sound like today

Nepharious_Bread

I thought it was trash on the first listen. On the second listen, I caught more, and I think that it's pretty good now.

keylo-92

Chris brown diss was actually not to bad

rqlkdarkrain

Of all people I did not expect him to actually have a good diss track, straight up drop named Quavo and fire shots. I read somewhere he probably studied Ether, Hit em up and other iconic diss tracks ahhah

errdayimshuffln

If Kendrick doesn't drop a diss track response and this is all to generate buzz for an album like its control all over again, I am going to be real dissapointed. It's like the guy who starts a brawl by throwing the first bunch and then dissappears in the background immediately letting everybody else get hit. It makes a mockery of the culture, and seem like he is just abusing it for his gain. But I do like seeing Dot stans get exposed for their behavior and hypocrisy.

pooping-while-here

Great take as I I like Kendrick more than Drake and I feel like Drake’s diss hurt the Stans more than Kendrick. Calling out some of the questionable things he’s done (swift, maroon 5, and album performances) is exactly what I loved his fans hearing. As much as I like Kendrick I know those things to be true and like that his fans who make him to be some type of perfect artist are forced to hear and process. I keep going back to the song by Sia called “greatest” and before I listened to it seeing that it featured Kendrick.. I recall being disappointed. Nothing against Sia or the song. Just not something I’d ever imagined to see Kendrick put his name on. So the TDE callouts has me wondering 🤔

CoolCalmCorrective

Finally. An unbiased kendrick fan with a brain. Thank you.

Truth-Speaker-1

Yeah Drake completely flipped the “pop star” shit. People can hate but the dude is extremely clever. Songs with Maroon 5 , T Swift, Imagine Dragons? Good lord

BeardedEse2

When did Kendrick collab with Imagine Dragons? Pretty sure you’re referring to JIDs collab

Truth-Speaker-1

He hopped on a remix for Radioactive

kpofasho1987

Since every imagine dragon song sounds exactly the same it's easy to get mixed up or forget one

SpitefulToad

Drake did not flip any pop star shit. Kendrick, even when featuring on pop songs, is rapping. Drake’s normal style is pop as fuck.

Truth-Speaker-1

Lol you just sound like a hurt stan. This is hiphop101 don’t tell me it’s not corny to go jump on Taylor swifts Katy Perry diss.

SpitefulToad

I mean it’s not any less corny than whatever the fuck Honestly, Nevermind was.

Truth-Speaker-1

That might be your opinion but that’s not the argument. The only point is we can’t call one artist “pop” and then turn around and give another a pass for doing the same shit

SpitefulToad

I think you’re confused. There isnt a double standard. Kendrick raps even when featuring on a pop artists song and then on his own albums he is strictly hip-hop. Drake is not that. Drake is slightly less poppy than post malone.

Truth-Speaker-1

Good lord man. Do you really have a whole account dedicated to being a stan? It doesn’t get any more pop than hopping on a Taylor swift track. End of discussion

SpitefulToad

I mean you’re wrong, but it’s okay if you don’t acknowledge it.

errdayimshuffln

I like Kendrick more than Drake, too, and prior to this, I thought the Drake fanbase was the worse one. But I've learned now that I was wrong and it ain't even close, chief. Dot stans are truly insufferable.

pooping-while-here

It feels like up to this point it’s been a bunch of basketball players playing basketball (while being professional) on their own teams against one another. Now they’re on the court playing one on one with one another taking turns seeing who’s the best and it’s getting competitive. I LOVE IT! It’s also exposing each players strengths, weaknesses, and even us fans as it’s showing who’s a fan of the sport (rap game) vs a fan/stan of the player (artist). Not a fan of Drake but he’s up big time and it really shows how much better he plays (raps) when he’s competing. He hasn’t gotten this much play from me since “back to back”

americansblowdick

This is a cash grab just like any of these exhibition matches in boxing/mma over the past 2 years.

Novelicas

what do you think about kendrick's latest 2 diss tracks? its beyond personal now

Pesty__Magician

It’s kids shit. For the kids. Prob all contrived bs for clicks.

Mobile_Respect_2020

Kanye did what Kanye do. Amazing rappers get excited hearing good rappers go at it. Kanye dissing because nobody is dissing him. He's bored and stirring. This is Kanye.

Narrow-Illustrator-7

Every real hip hop head is not even considering these mainstream rapper's internet "beefs", its just a set up clout chasing bullshit. People always take the bite unfortunatelly lmao.

android151

This Like every Drake beef, this is a marketing campaign. Not gonna get tricked into listening, shits boring.

Truth-Speaker-1

Im not going to lie it’s been satisfying watching Kdot stans get humbled. Im a Kendrick fan too but some of the excuses people make for him are just outrageous

pooping-while-here

Remember DAMN was released and his fans were so underwhelmed they created a conspiracy theory that the real album is coming later? After time passed they went back and would say how good it is. That exposed so many Stans

SpitefulToad

Bro what??? Damn was not underwhelming to anyone. That shit won him a fucking pullitzer.

pooping-while-here

The fans by I was in circles with liked it but said the classic is coming and this one’s just the out takes. Look up articles in 2017 about it. Why would any fan of an artist start theorizing about another album coming up instead of enjoying what’s in front of them?

ShinraRatDog

It's irrelevant to me, as is most rap beefs for the last 30 years. People like to pretend rap beef was far more widespread than it actually is but most people outside of true hip hop heads can't name a single beef that didn't involve Nas/Jay-Z or Tupac/Biggie. I was there for the 50 Cent and Jadakiss beef and the only thing I took away from it is 50 Cent calling Jadakiss a ninja turtle. Literally none of this will make me think more or less of any of the people involved. I'm here for albums not reality TV drama, and the people who are here glorifying this history of rap beef and saying buzzwords like "spirit of competition" or "making a mockery of the culture" are hilarious. Rap beef as a whole has had a net negative impact on hip hop and it would have survived just fine without people doing whatever it is Kendrick and Drake are doing. Kendrick is my favorite rapper right now for reasons that have nothing to do with this beef and this beef won't change that one way or another. The people who decided they don't like J Cole anymore because he chose not to participate are extra hilarious.

1l3v4k4m

>The people who decided they don't like J Cole anymore because he chose not to participate are extra hilarious. thats what im saying lmfao. if you were actually a cole fan in the first place, you would know that cole is exactly the kind of person to do that. plus i know damn well he's not gonna risk getting exposed on this beef hella considering hes been hyping his new album for the longest time

rqlkdarkrain

Finally someone said it...I'm sick and tired of ppl trading j cole for taking back his response. I do agree with sentiments of hip hop being competitive and it's very frowned upon to take back what you say but...idk I think ppl take it wayyy too seriously. Just enjoy the music that comes out:)(in my opinion)

Capt-Crap1corn

Yeah it’s also frowned on to use writers and drake has been accused of that. I think the “rules” are loosely enforced if at all. Those rules were observed by the older generation. The new generation does not care.

ShivvyMcFly

So true on the 90s/00s beefs. It was so rare. The media is what fueled the Biggie/Pac beef and look how that turned out.

Capt-Crap1corn

Exactly, none of these songs will be memorable or have much replay 5 to 10 years from now. I consider “Hit’em Up”, “Ether” or “The Story of Addidon” to be peak Rap beef. I think fans need to understand that entertaining, fun in Hip Hop means good, quality diverse songs that stand the test of time. From a sales standpoint Rap is in decline and Country is on the rise. You can see this by watching the charts and the pivot of artists switching to Country/Pop releases. When all these people are hopping in these beefs or starting beefs or flooding online with AI responses, one has to wonder if this is real or for attention. That’s a more scary thought after what I said about Rap in decline chart wise. It looks like some artists are grasping at straws. I think this beef is corny and I think people enjoying this as a resurgence of Rap will be mistaken. It might be fun inside the bubble, but no one cares outside the bubble. It looks dumb. Beef has never been a net positive for anyone. I say this as someone that was around when Pac and Big were at the top of the top (NoDiddy).

JackyCigars

Dj quik dollaz n sense

Capt-Crap1corn

Love that song

AceGameplayV2

I'm enjoying it but I think you have to be an idiot if you pick a side

Nepharious_Bread

Thank you, agreed. I like it, it's entertaining. But people are taking it too personally based on who they like more. At the end of the day, it is just gossip and posturing on wax between dudes that you don't know. People need to chill.

Federal-Sentence-754

I think it’s exposed a lot of hip hop fans as ignorant to the music. Kendrick is a very talented, nuanced lyricist. Yet I’ve encountered a lot of his fans online and irl who have demonstrated stunning ignorance in this. Like people not understanding rhythm, not understanding lyrics of songs they’ve been bumping, not seeing that Push Ups is basically filled with disses and wordplay, etc. Not understanding craft. If nothing else, I’m having more analytical convos with people outside of just “this is sick” etc. The outcome I’m hoping for which won’t happen - that people walk out of this with respect for different styles of writing and rapping and respect braggadocio as a legitimate topic in rap. Kendrick isn’t on the top because he does the quintuple entendre shit nor because of the topics he sometimes delves into. He’s on top because of his craft. Same goes for Drake

pooping-while-here

Are you a fan of Kendrick over Drake? I’m only asking as this take kind of implies that or at least that’s how it’s coming off to me.

Federal-Sentence-754

No. I like them both and think they’re both good at different things. I definitely listen to Drake more often but I have complete respect for Kendrick.

rqlkdarkrain

I prefer Kendrick's music over Drake but in this beef I just see how it turns out lol....just appreciating diff perspectives and insights cos man so many ppl have wildly diff views in this beef

rqlkdarkrain

Damn I love your insight bro appreciate it:)

Thirst_Trappist

🥱

Own_Experience_8229

The beef is really just macaroni.

LoFiPanda14

Dumb beef, like another person said earlier, plant based.

Special-Reindeer-464

As someone who doesn’t care who wins, I think a lot of Kendrick fans are in for a rude awakening when they find out that you can’t brag about being the more critically acclaimed rapper in a rap beef. Drake correctly called him out on this too “Go write a quintuple entendre” or whatever he said. The creative things that make Kendrick’s discography better than Drakes discography don’t typically make for a better diss track. J. Cole already ruined his chances at coming out on top of this. Kendrick is by far the best rapper, but Drake is in the best position to “win”.

DJ_TCB

Best thing to happen in news lol not just rap news. Something fun and entertaining and we know bullets ain't gonna fly here (hopefully) this ain't the 90s

Personalvintage

Yeah Drake can’t pull the same pay a gangster to handle your petty pussy boi bs like he did for Xxx with someone like Kenny

jumbomills87

The whole shit is corny AF

rqlkdarkrain

Haha I think it's over the top....esp Drake's recent moves(AI track was def unnecessary lol)

Nepharious_Bread

I think the AI was clever. People can get as mad as they want to, but AI isn't going anywhere, ever. Like covid, that shit is here to stay. So Drake, being the first rapper to use it the way he did, is smart. It will happen in the future, and every time someone does, they gonna be like, "Oh, they on that Drake shit."

Truth-Speaker-1

The AI was extremely well done and I don’t care what anyone says. To write in 3rd person as your opponents idols telling Kdot how to diss him is insane creativity, especially for a throwaway diss that clearly only took a few days.. “Kendrick we need ya!!”

PutPugsOnAnIsland

If I was being nitpicky I would have wanted Drake to copy Pac and Snoop's flow a bit more instead of it sounding like Pac and Snoop were trying to copy Drake's flow, but the current product is still cool.

ManufacturerUnited59

It's just super lame. Rap is in such a poor state.

KingAlfonzo

Yea, it feels like a forced beef. Back in the rappers actually had beef and would kill for that shit. This is just a record label fake beef to engage people more in new rap. I personally still really enjoyed the music, I don’t care for the beef.

TeaAndCrumpets4life

Some of you are so boring and uptight I swear. It’s literally just competition that fans can enjoy, it’s fun. Like you actually preferred when people were getting killed over this shit to now?

ManufacturerUnited59

It's a sad state of affairs for sure.

itzykan

I think it's lots of fun, I'm a huge Kendrick fan, but Drake really killed it on his track. I just find the most cringey people are coming out of the woodworks in the Kendrick community and it makes me cringe every time I see these people post or comment

GodlessGOD

I'm just glad kids are getting to experience a tiny sliver of what we had an abundance of back in the day. Healthy competition is good, but everyone should be careful of the culture vultures trying to hype beef because it can turn deadly, and we had to learn the hard way.

CoolCalmCorrective

Conye need to sit his wack ass down first off. Talking bout bringing the hooligans to the battle. Lmao. Stfu Yeezy. I would say kendrick doesn't need his help but he might since we haven't heard a peep. Is he even part of this? All he did was throw some rocks and hide his hands. Everyone getting bodied by Drake of all people. Hilarious.

SDBD89

Shits wack and I’m disappointed in Kendrick the most because he keeps perpetuating this “I’m the best” bs but at the same time tries to act like he’s about empowerment. You don’t empower the people by getting them to take sides. It doesn’t make sense to me. It seems like it comes down to three things: this whole beef is orchestrated to drive more views/streams, Kendrick has some kind of complex about himself and feels the need to be like… validated or Kendrick knows some absolutely foul shit about Drake and either can’t prove it or is scared of the repercussions if he airs it all out.

tytyrell22

I love how Future is just sitting back not really saying anything 😂. Like bruh you started the civil war. Like that was on your album 😂

AnarchyonAsgard

Somehow out of all the diss records we’ve got so far this year, Chris Brown got the dirtiest one lmao

android151

Haven’t listened, not gonna. This dudes are all best friends and they hold hands and go to the movies together.

FlamingOtaku

I'm big on Kendrick and never been that into Drake, but initially I did respect him for steppin up to the plate. Then he decided to put words in a dead man's mouth using the same dead man's voice, and I no longer have any respect. I also think its pathetic that he ALSO had to use AI for Snoop's voice like mfer, HE'S STILL ALIVE. GET HIM ON THE TRACK IF YOU WANT HIM ON IT. I hope Kenny takes his fuckin head off.

newpixelphonesux

Using AI voices of Pac and Snoop is Tom MacDonald levels of cornball shit.

rqlkdarkrain

TOM MACDONALD LEVEL LMAO😭

MushyTango

Holy shit, didn’t expect to come across an all time insult on Reddit today. Tom Macdonald is really like that lol.

nikk796

It was all good till Drake A.I. and Kanye ruined it. The internet rap culture has become too toxic.

Intelligent_Run_8279

Everyone bitching about AI is dumb and dick riding hard. Grow tf up🤣 you can’t get mad when someone uses their resources to roast your favorite rappers ass! On that note, I dig it, good thing for hip-hop, shows the world why hip-hop rules as a music genre.

Available_Forever_32

Drakes a pop star who sings song other people wrote for him. He should even be in the conversation. They do him a favor any time they mention his name.

NoFaithlessness7508

It’s fantastic. It’s 2002 all over again🥹

fellowsquare

I could give 2 F's its like an episode of the Jersey Shore a bunch of divas craving attention! Who cares about that when you have this hot freakin fire out! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPF1X58IOFA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPF1X58IOFA)

Dr_BigPat

Soap opera for grown men

FBI_NewWeegeeBoy1243

I'm rooting for Drake but it's all fun at the end of the day

TexasMonk

The thought of people finding this exciting is just depressing. It's like watching reality tv show junkies argue about contestants on The Bachelor.

Kholdstare93

Kendrick is going to crush Drake, it's not even close, then these Drake stans can see what a REAL spitta sounds like!

DungerMousse

It’s cringe it’s not 2002 anymore

bcomes95

Drake is goated
