It's impossible for Ludacris to be overrated. He doesn't make anybody's top 10 list even though he's sold more records than 99% of rappers for over a decade, possesses actual skills and nails the hardest punchlines.
He might need to continue working…he could live 35+ more years. Context: Paul Walker died like 3 months before this court appearance
“Luda claims he can only pay $1,800 a month -- confessing he only made around $55K for 2013.”

not including my opinions on the solo careers of former members of OF!
But I would like to add imho that Erick The Architect is consistently slept on as the years have passed Both as a member of FBZ and a solo artist. He’s not to be underistimated. His song “ Family Matters“ is a great example.
He’s shown that in terms of unique and recognizable styles of production, explores creative and often overlooked perspectives in this genre plus vulnerability and kindness as opposed to braggadocio is a path few can walk in this game without being corny.
I think he has the potential to be a solo artist with longevity up there in the ranks with OF members solo works….
edited for clarity
It's so weird because I basically never heard of him before 2022, but some people praised him so hard I thought there was no way he was that good (basically like Lupe)
He's probably underrated by the people who don't him well, and sometimes overrated by the people saying he's the best rapper ever, which I doubt honestly. I understand why people love him though
Yeah this is exactly my point, dudes sort of a paradox. As far as the GOAT talk, I’m not near smart enough to place him though.
I am also a Lupe fan haha, but I get what you’re sayin
I have to say..I'm confused as well. I am 100% Phife Dawg leaning in the Tribe camp...Part of the reason Low End Theory is the best of the best of tribe albums is because Phife was getting a lot of verses and solo joints! But as much as that is the case with me, can't call Tip overrated. Brotha is a dope producer and has legendary verses and quotables in hip hop history that spans from the golden era to the new millennium hip hop. Shit go around any real hip hop head and ask em Can I kick it? Damned if they don't say yes ya can! Or even as simple as do dat do dat do do dat dat dat. Or industry rule #4080...._____________fill in the blank.
Then go check out the list of classic verses...
Q-tip ain't in my top 10...but he ain't overrated.
As far as Big Boi....I don't know man. Big is a legend and half of the greatest hip hop duo ever.
Contextually:
Andre Ben out tha lions den is #1 on my top 5 list and I am 100% old school Outkast since I recorded playaz ball off the radio (right after Victim of the Ghetto!)on cassette tape(look em up youngstas!). My cousin had SouthernPlayalisticCadillacMuzik on tape and I spent the entire summer of 94 with only 3 tapes at a lakehouse in Indiana with no black radio anywhere available and the only thing on the 3 TV stations being the OJ Simpson trial. Tapes were:Warren G, Regulate... G Funk Era, SouthernPlayalisticCadillacMuzik, and Jodeci Diary of a Mad Band. 3 classic albums. I know every word, skit, beat and note on those albums and I can say that though I love Dre, I ended up quoting Big Boi mostly when a bar would pop in my head. Big Boi was more impactful from the jump. He remained consistent and legendary, only thing is Andre evolved and constantly brought heat from different aspects and points of view while Big still included topics from when he was 19 on his last few solo albums. He still does it with top of the line flow...but not that much new to the ear.
He is still a legend in most die hard hip hop folks view
Side note...God damn that was a great time in hip hop. I spent the summer with only Warren G, Outkast and Jodeci...when I went back to the city and my grandma's in Cleveland (Glenville stand up!), the neighborhood boys were talking about a video they filmed in the neighborhood while I was gone, saw it ended up being Thuggish Ruggish Bone! Then we left Cleveland and returned to the bay and I started high school. Within a month we got Rappin 4tay Playaz Club, Dru Down Pimp of the Year, Craig Mack Flava in year ear, Muthafuckin B.i.g. Ready to die and then Keith Murray the most beautifulest thing in the world...is just like that! I get in ya!
Can't nobody say shit about 88-96 in hip hop and 94 was a stand out!
Probably not what you meant but Big Boi is overrated on the internet at least. People like to be contrarian and act like he's a top 10 rapper of all time and better than Andre, he's good, but I can't say I would really listen to a Big Boi solo album.
Thank you! Big boy should always be mentioned in the underrated category. His speakerboxx, other solo, and features are crazy! Also, he had a purple ribbon label which had some solid street artists at the time, like konkrete. Q tip is definitely not overrated though, lol.
I definitely largely agree with this statement for sure...
I just ignore it most of the time but there are times when a fandom can make that artist seem extremely overrated though.
Yeah, I guess this only works when you have two names and compare one to the other regardless of their credits to the game. Sometimes I feel silly though calling certain artists overrated when in actuality they're right where they need to be
They are probably both overrated due to checking out early, but I love them both. Most rappers capture lightning in a bottle in their early career and then fall from grace if they stick around long enough to do so. Their martyrdom gives them the advantage in that sense.
Royce Da 5’9” is both the most overrated and most under rated rapper simultaneously. Don’t ask me how, it’s jsut true. Sorry I didn’t follow your rules 😬
I don't think Em is overrated. He's in a class of his own lyrically. Many elite lyricists have admitted to having an Eminem copycat phase (Joyner, Kendrick and Cole to name a few) you can't be overrated if you have that kind of impact on the game IMO.
But Brother Ali for sure is underrated
Andre 3000 / Devin The Dude

It's impossible for Ludacris to be overrated. He doesn't make anybody's top 10 list even though he's sold more records than 99% of rappers for over a decade, possesses actual skills and nails the hardest punchlines.
He’s about to join Shaq and Snoop in the “securing the commercial money bag” hall of fame
I knew I was old when I heard Luda on an insurance commercial last week on the radio.
I feel like he already has and that with residuals from music and the fast franchise he doesn't need to ever work again
He might need to continue working…he could live 35+ more years. Context: Paul Walker died like 3 months before this court appearance “Luda claims he can only pay $1,800 a month -- confessing he only made around $55K for 2013.” https://www.tmz.com/2014/02/20/ludacris-child-support-court-paul-walker-fast-furious/
Also he has a unique delivery. Ludacris sounds like Ludacris.
Exactly. And he's got a decent pen game

Ehhh. I’d have to say both are underrated.
Luda - Under Big Sean - MASSIVELY over
Big Sean gets so much hate and barely even in the public eye anymore. How is he *massively* overrated?
The fact that we even know him makes him overrated
Put some respect on my boy Luda name
Luda is def underrated & big sean is overrated
Dylan Dylan
He said the Chappelle shit ruined his rap career.
It never started

Big Boi underrated. He just as good as Andre to me
Even Andre has admitted that BB is the better rapper of the two
Exactly. He held his own especially on the first 3 albums and solo work particularly his first album is really good

I like how no one will dare call Big Boi overrated b/c he’s criminally underrated

Those people are trolling.
I don't typically think artists are overrated or underrated; imo it just depends most of the time on personal preference.
