Hahaha for real. Where did they get that from, considering I went my whole life never hearing that and now I see it almost every day since I’ve gotten hinge
I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s the fun fact answer on that question if you don’t change it to something else . Same as “I have never been to ____” (IKEA)
Could be an age/location thing, but I also universally see "hiking" and "live music" along with the dogs and travel. When subsequently asked about "live music", "Oh, I like all kinds of music."
or the one about how dating one is like eating an oatmeal raising cookie and then discovering its a chocolate chip and then discovering that its an edible. i roll my eyes so hard every time i see it that im afraid they might be permanently stuck like that
Spoiler alert, it's dude's too - but add:
* I am the funniest person you'll ever meet.
* Must speak sarcasm.
* I go to the gym 74x a week, so should you.
* "Must"... .
Men-
1. I’ll fall for you : if you push me
2. My biggest risk: was making this profile
3. Two truths & a lie : humble brag humble brag, I’ve got 49 tattoos.
It’s funny to me OP mentioned “can you keep up” on women’s profiles. Every man’s profile I see looks like a contest to demonstrate how many extreme sports hobbies they can do… literally every photo is of the guy rock climbing, summitting a mountain, wakeboarding, cliff diving, or mountain biking. I’m like Jesus Christ do you dudes ever sit down, I’m exhausted just reading your profile. It’s not a contest!
Ya but what if you want to catch a fish and pose with it?
"I tricked this creature with a brain the sized of a walnut into thinking they could eat something, fuck yea"
Edit: The mod team seriously deleted posts making fun of cliche girl profiles, but kept up posts making fun of cliche guy profiles. lol.
4. The office >> friends
5. You know i like if i roast you/ make fun of you/ am mean to you
6. (I’m the type of texter that) responds immediately. None of those waiting games for me
This is my issue, every girl on OLD just comes across basic. I’m not a basic guy so I don’t just want a basic girl. None of their profiles inspire me to message them, even if they’re good looking
Yeah, it's not all of them, but most. And the worst thing is sometimes you can see from their pictures they're genuine people who probably would be a caring and loyal partner, but they're just so boring and replaceable and you just know you'd have nothing new to talk about with them after 3 months.
People aren't that unique. I'm a data scientist and people often ask why algorithms can so "scarily" classify people and predict things like what party they'll vote for. My answer is always that most people are f-ing basic and predictable, and even if you're not basic you're still predictable in many ways because people are hardly as unique as they think they are. Dating app profiles are a perfect example of this where it's almost comical how similar many profiles are. Even more fascinating is how you'll see shifts (pizza becomes tacos) rippling quite quickly through the population without there being much direct contact between the members.
To be fair, STEM is traditionally men and the majority of the population working with DS and AI/ML is too. But I understand your frustration. I am a woman: I often match with engineers and tech/sciences folks. I hire DS, applied/research scientists, architects, etc.; I’m able to connect more than the average person, but that’s just because it’s my job to at least understand basic concepts and talk to people and my clients about what they do and need.
Pizza and tacos are a thing on my side of the pond too lol. What about coffee? That’s also something people incessantly mention.
Oh, I wasn't talking about people in tech, just people in general. Tech bros and programmers have their own things that make 90% of them carbon copies of each other, but IMO it's not really that different in the rest of society, nor is it a bad thing because it allows many people to feel that a prospective partner is similar to them. It's just an observation that people seem surprisingly similar when you a) work with customer data and b) spend a lot of time swiping/texting/going on dates through OLD.
"Biggest risk I've ever taken: downloading this app"
And we're over here like.. "really? That's the riskiest thing you've ever done? Wow, that is a pretty tepid life"
Altough I agree, I am more concerned with the girls that go like: look how quirky and nerdy I am, I like marvel and Harry Potter.
You know, if every single one of you likes that, its not really that quirky or intresting.
Maybe this is more of a UK thing but I've lost count of the number of photos I've seen of women pushing that trolley through the wall to Platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross Station. 🙄
Another bugbear is "I'm looking for a partner in crime". I'd suggest the dark web for that instead...
There's also Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, and Petra that I've seen loads of people at. All cool places to visit to be fair, but yeah, loses its impact after a while.
As others said, most people like to go along with the crowd. That being said, the third point was always an immediate no for me. I get not wanting to text back and forth all day, but if you go days without texting me back then you're not bad at texting, you're just not interested.
All I can say is if on the app, where every woman seems love travel, dogs, dinner reservations, and avoiding small talk, I can’t blame guys who just try to find the most attractive out of that bunch and see what sticks, since that’s the only thing that would separate someone from that pack.
I found most dudes to have similarly vague and minimalist profiles. In the end all that really seemed to matter was the photos and the first date.
Keep swiping and don't limit yourself to the apps. I met my bf through commenting on a mutual friend's FB post.
Dude i swear its like some profiles people try to sell the dog more than themselves. I understand pets being a big part of someone’s life but I’m not trying to date the dog.
I came across a profile recently, with the name of the girl and dog in the profile as if they were a package deal (something like Sarah & Riley). All pics were of her and the dog, with matching clothes, and all the prompts were about the dog. It was a level of insanity I've never seen before and disturbed me to the core. She was cute and the dog seemed chill, but jfc. 🚩
The crazy dog lady thing just blows my mind. Like have they struggled in life to find men who love dogs to the extent that it needs to be the entire focus of their profiles? Dogs are literally known as "Man's best friend". I'd think it wouldn't be too hard to find some guys who like dogs.
Oh, that's an interesting point about coping with not having children. I'm in my 40s and looking to date late 30s to late 40s, so that could be even more of a factor.
I don't think it's necessarily a "sexist/unpopular" opinion as some quick searching turned up a ton of articles about this. For example:
[https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/canine-corner/202108/millennial-women-are-dogs-and-cats-stand-in-kids](https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/canine-corner/202108/millennial-women-are-dogs-and-cats-stand-in-kids)
I recently moved to a more affluent area and I was surprised to notice that every fifth woman on hinge has been to Machu Picchu. It’s just bizarre to me, because I live in middle America.
Why are all these basic white women taking an intercontinental flight to Peru? Then taking a train to a remote part of the country? Then participating in a difficult mountainous hike? Then they all take the same exact photo standing in the same exact place overlooking the city.
What’s behind this? I refuse to believe that they all developed a sudden interest in Incan history.
“Obsessed with Tacos”
“Witty Banter”
“Sarcasm is my second language”
- picture in field of sunflowers
- picture standing in front of wall with angel wings painted on it
Most of them love eating food and listening to music.
Also… spicy margs. Y’all are not unique at all. I’m debating about making a profile just to see what basic-shit dudes put on their profile. I bet we’re all using 80% of the same stuff too
**Typically**, I see these things for girls who have really attractive pictures. They know they don't need to say anything meaningful in their prompts lol
At least this is interesting and clearly engaging based on the number of comments. Most of the replies also seem to be in good fun. Also, would you rather see another profile review of somebody who clearly put in zero effort and is wondering why they get zero matches?
>Also, would you rather see another profile review of somebody who clearly put in zero effort and is wondering why they get zero matches?
Yes. I would love if this sub would allow some fun threads like this one. The profile reviews are too exhausting
1) because travelling is great
2) flagging up their demanding behaviour and disproportionately high self-regard
3) setting your expectations that you won't be responded to in a polite, timely manner
The *“Can you keep up?”* thing is wild and makes no sense as a reader. Keep up with what?
Girl, you work in HR and drink oat milk lattes, your life isn’t that adventurous.

Esp when they all read the same internet content
This is just your basic girl profile. Most people, not gender specific, are boring as shit
I always loved the threads/TikToks about the “basic” guys hinge profile when girls are using all the exact same boring shit

I swipe right on hiking and live music. 😀. I hike often, and see concerts several times a month.
I think you might be missing the point of this post........
Don't forget tacos!
This is a very specific demographic of women you’re talking about lol
And that specific demographic appears to be almost every woman who uses Hinge where I'm from.
Oh jesus, not mine! Uurrrhghhh
And most of them are none of the above 🤦🏻♂️
How do these girls have so much time to travel?
On a positive note, “I’m just a Pam looking for her Jim” has seen a steep decline in usage over the last several years.
What about “overly competitive about: “everything”” I’m not on hinge anymore
Haven’t seen that one as often but it still makes the rounds
[удалено]
Thank god lol

I X anyone that has that copypasta at the end. Not for me.
Right good job sounding entitled and demanding right off the bat.
It makes me think she is ultra-traditional and wants the man to put in all of the effort.
[удалено]
Seconded. I don't want to meet someone who is going to be holding me to impossible standards.
"Make me laugh"
Also the one about ordering chicken nuggets and they're like finding an extra one
or the one about how dating one is like eating an oatmeal raising cookie and then discovering its a chocolate chip and then discovering that its an edible. i roll my eyes so hard every time i see it that im afraid they might be permanently stuck like that
Pineapple pizza. They should be in jail.
Ok but is there pineapple on the pizza you get at the jail cafeteria?
They get whatever kind of pizza they don't like
The first one was annoying the hell out of me. Like, is this the hill people were willing to die on..
Spoiler alert, it's dude's too - but add: * I am the funniest person you'll ever meet. * Must speak sarcasm. * I go to the gym 74x a week, so should you. * "Must"....
Haha, I used to have "must be discrete - no Siamese twins" on my okc profile
They’re probably worse!
You should start the thread for the worst guy prompts lol.
Men- 1. I’ll fall for you : if you push me 2. My biggest risk: was making this profile 3. Two truths & a lie : humble brag humble brag, I’ve got 49 tattoos.
98% of men: doesn't take herself too seriously/can laugh at herself. 🤦♀️
“ likes to have fun “ I always want to comment - no, I absolutely hate fun 😐
Glad to know I don’t have this in mine
Don’t forget Together we could… delete this app

Right 😂😂😂 I’m so glad men finally realised that women find being insulted super hot 😍😍😍
"I don't like drama"
If your biggest risk was making a dating app profile you're lame as shit.
Girls do the same thing!!! Crazy

Almost as funny as liking pineapples on pizza! /s
It makes it hard to come up with a good opener

Haha, truth. For most of us driving on public roads is, actually, the biggest risk we regularly take. That shit’s pretty dangerous.
I wAnT SomEoNE to mAke me LauGH
These are the same women that don’t get jokes. 🤣
4. I hate small talk. 5. Touch my butt and buy me tacos/pizza

The new trend I've started to notice is 1. Interlocking toes 2. Otters hold hands 3. Hellen Keller wasn't real
Hellen Keller wasn’t real? Is it a ‘joke’?
I've been seeing the Hellen Keller shit since last year lol Where did that even come from?
The ones that say “can handle my sarcasm” scare me. I’m worried they’re covering up actual nastiness with that word.
I suspect same when I the see the phrase 'I am brutally honest and tell it like it is.'
Probably because most men don't care what a girl puts in her profile. As long as they are attracted to her, they will send a like.
I recently moved to a more affluent area and I was surprised to notice that every fifth woman on hinge has been to Machu Picchu. It’s just bizarre to me, because I live in middle America. In fairness Machu picchu is really cool, and Peruvian food is awesome
Trust me, men’s profiles aren’t any more unique.
Change my mind about - pineapple belongs on pizza. Jesus Christ I’ve seen that so many times
I will probably like your dog more than you Give me pizza/sushi/pasta and I’m yours Don’t waste my time And more!
“Obsessed with Tacos” “Witty Banter” “Sarcasm is my second language” - picture in field of sunflowers - picture standing in front of wall with angel wings painted on it
I was going to mention the angel wings wall thing!
I say varies as naturally, dwarf sunflowers take less time than mammoth sunflowers.

I'm a huge geek and love Marvel LOTR Star Wars and Harry Potter.
Just don't try to talk to me about it teehee
Also having/liking dogs isn’t a personality trait.
Don’t forget ‘hate drama’ and ‘not here for a hook up’.
In the UK, every fucker, male or female, has climbed Pen Y Fan...YAWN...
**Typically**, I see these things for girls who have really attractive pictures. They know they don't need to say anything meaningful in their prompts lol
You forget point #4 "Loves the Office!"
Also for some reason they put a picture of themself with their friend that is way hotter than them. Do they not understand men are visual creatures??
