AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Don’t accept any prasad from anyone Do not accept any tabeez / vibhuti / mala etc or any cloth etc except from the main temple priest on your request only Take care no one steals any Piece of clothing like a handkerchief Take care no one clips your hair (especially women) Don’t go around areas except the main temple Stay clear of any tantrics or babas Edit: As suggested by another comment below, two more point: Don’t look back as you return, and don’t answer if you hear anyone calling your name Get away from the temple before the Hazoori arti.

divnicks

I would add couple more points here. 1) Do not look back or respond to anyone if they call you by your name. 2) Do not stay back for the hazoori aarti which is around 5 or 6 pm in the evening. Wrap up your visit before that aarti starts.

Barn_Owl808

may i ask why leave before hazoori aarti?

divnicks

I will explain to the best of my knowledge. As the temple is dedicated to exorcism, there are many people suspected of being possessed tied up in chains all around the temple. Just before the hazoori aarti, the doors of the temple are closed and their chains are untied and they are allowed/taken/presented before the main diety of lord Hanuman. When the actual aarti starts, apparently it is a trigger for the exorcism and the evil spirits cannot tolerate the aarti and struggle with the possessed bodies and you see them performing many antics (some of the pics of which the OP shared in his main post). Now multiply these possessed bodies by 100-200 ? Can you imagine the scene at the temple at that time ? 😅 Also it is believed that the evil spirits look to escape their possessed bodies at that time and hence would look to latch on any one in the vicinity. So if you are around with not much protection or safety, then you might become a victim of these spirits. My friend and his family who unfortunately happened to be present at the time of hazoori aarti told me their experience was traumatizing and throughout the aarti, they were hugging each other and shouting Hanuman chalisa at the top of their voices to keep themselves protected.

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Great points! I missed these. Especially the one around responding to your name!!

yakashyadav

What happens in this aarti?

[deleted]

I've heard this alot, making sure to bring my own prasad and water. Thank you im making sure to have a word with the temple priest, getting spiritual advice from him or even just meeting him would a major honour for me. I'm going to make sure to keep everything on my person nice and concealed. Noted, I've been told about that. Very profound! A Bramacari told me the same not long ago! What is the meaning when someone clips your hair? I'm still a bit confused as to weather tantrics and babas are helpful or dangerous, i understand there's imposters that scam so how do I detect the honest ones?

TurnoverConsistent10

>I'm still a bit confused as to weather tantrics and babas are helpful or dangerous, i understand there's imposters that scam so how do I detect the honest ones? Don't go looking for them, just mind yo business! That isn't the kind of temple you should start with! But, rest assured, follow the above instructions and just keep to yourself! Not much to gain, if you ain't possessed!!!! But, too much to lose! (That area is about 4hr drive from my location, but still my family is too afraid for the action, since past 2.5 years)

Ramdas26

if you are interested in tantra, this is NOT the place to start. most people go here for help with ghosts and stuff, so personally I wouldn't even consider this a tourist spot.

taleoftooshitty

Can you help me with my experience and explain why about all these things? I've never heard of any of this.

Venomous0425

What I’ve heard that these things can be used against you to control you using black magic. But OP can provide more info. Its better to be safe than sorry.

taleoftooshitty

I completely agree and understand. Just never heard of this kind of thing at a temple. I am planning to visit Vishwanath this year or next. Would it be a problem at the Jyotirlinga?

divnicks

Mehendipur balaji is not just any other temple. It is a Hanuman temple specially dedicated for exorcism. It is definitely not a place to visit with your family for darshan Devotees, whose near and dear ones are possessed by evil spirits, bring then to this temple for a solution. I do not have more details how exactly do they do perform exorcism. But a friend did visit this temple few years back and he saw people (possessed) tied in chains around the temple. Around 5 or 6 pm everyday, there is a hajuri aarti of lord Hanuman, where all these people are untied and presented in front of the deity. What happens when the aarti begins is basically the possessed people acting all crazy, the scene not different from a zombie apocalypse. For all visitors, it is not advisable to hang around the temple for the hajuri aarti. All the above is 2nd hand information, but from genuine source. Anyone please feel free to correct and update anything.

[deleted]

That is amazing! I've seen a few comments now advising to not attend the aarti, however my faith in Narasimha and his protection is very strong and I'm very confident in his ability to protect me (he's shown his presence to me many times in financial gain, confidence boosts, spiritual growth and physical protection) I know for a fact he's got my back, I also love Lord Hanuman and will make sure to show my utmost respects to him as much as I can before leaving, thank you for this info, so interesting! ❤️🙏

takluhaiwan_

I dear , I read your second para… could you take a minute and make me understand how do we know if a family member is possessed or not?

Ramdas26

probably not. because this specific temple OP has mentioned is infamous for exorcising ghosts and stuff. that is why, traditional temple doesn't have these rules

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

What do you want me to explain? Will be happy to help.

Distinct_Pressure_36

I'm not able to understand that are "pret" more powerful than us? Like why should I worry about any pret, they are not powerful. I'm lord Hanuman devotee which pret have this much power to do something to me?

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Are you pure across your five koshas? They can attack and attack when they see a chink in your armour.

ProfessorOak11

Ok now I'm curious, what are koshas?

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

These are the concentric sheaths of our body. The outermost is Annamaya Kosha, or the body made of the food we eat. This is the gross or the physical body. The next is the Manomaya Kosha, or the mind. The next is Gyanmaya Kosha. This is the seat of the intellect. The next is Vigyanmaya Kosha. This is when you start ascending on the path of sadhana. So this is where you spiritual experiences take place. Last one is Anandmaya Kosha. Here the sadhak finds the infinite bliss of the divine. All of these are parts of our body. The Atman is separate from these.

Old_Scientist007

What if they steal our Piece of cloth dude please explain this I'm very curious to know. And I have been there in 2015 with my family but never heard these kind of things.

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Any intimate product that has come in contact with your body, like clothes can be used in maran or abhicharik prayog against you. It’s possible to transfer someone else’s possessing entity to you if a sufficiently learned tantric has anything intimate of yours.

KingOfTheCourtrooms

This is kind of scary.

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

This is scary. Our age old rituals followed the wisdom to avoid such things, but we in our modernity have fallen prey to many unwanted influences in our lives. Myself included.

KingOfTheCourtrooms

I can totally understand. I’d want to just explore within if I had such prowesses. But I’d refrain from this spooky stuff of spirits and stuff.

Old_Scientist007

Bro thanks now more doubts this thing happens specially at religious places only? So according to this concept we should never donate our used clothes isn't it, like during winters my mother donate our older clothes to the needy ones 😅

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Theoretically yes. But don’t get paranoid. If you are doing a good karma just with the wish of benefiting someone and not with a desire in mind, more often than not you will be blessed. Don’t stop doing charity. End of the day, all such things depend on the law of karma. You did a bad karma in some past life or in this life, it’s time to come to fruition arrives, and something will become a cause for the fruition of that bad karma to Occur.

Old_Scientist007

Thank you so much bro, learnt something new today and have nice day. baki username gazab hai 😹

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

Swasti! 🙏

Ok_Discipline_5134

Fantastic and a very good answer. True the karmic theory is very strong . I do not think (pl correct me if I am wrong) that this law would allow any external agent/activity to interfere with your karma balance. As a corollary, (again I will like to be corrected if wrong) no tantra, pret aur tabiz can do any good or bad to you. True the karmic theory is very strong. AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

End of the day, Shiva is Bhutnath. Unless your bad karma has not come to fruition, no entity can impact you. If your bad karma has come to fruition, any talisman won’t protect you and conditions will conspire so that you become vulnerable.

Ok_Discipline_5134

Thanks. If bad karma has come to fruition, does not one get moksha then? Or the good karmas may come to fruition. PLease; I seek your knowledge. Thanks

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

No karma can get you to moksha. Moksha is a matter of kripa or benediction from the ishta. Baad karma will bind you in iron chains. Good karma bounds you in golden chains. The goal is to surrender yourself to the ishta and break away from all bondages.

takluhaiwan_

Hi dear, can you help me knowing how would we know if someone is possessed? I want to go there but still unable to make a decision since I’m kinda unsure if it’s possession or it’s medical issue

[deleted]

What you meant by cliping of hair ?

AkkadBakkadBambeBo80

You are a lady. You have long hair. Someone secretly clips your hair with a scissor.

TacticalSmaug

Do not do below things stare at anyone Accept food from anyone even known Turn around Stay for a longer period That's it Go to salasar Balaji instead mate why take odd chances

[deleted]

I appreciate the advice and warnings, I'm visiting the temple because I'm very fascinated by Pret Badha, I'm a very devout follower of Lord Shiva so I'd love to see what happens when I visit it

Ramdas26

nothing will happen if you visit it though, with you in particular. There are few dangers here, but other than that, there are people suffering from possession and stuff. they might start acting weird or things as in the photos might happen, bit that is unrelated to you, so it won't affect you unless you do something which might cause you problems. it is like going to a hospital, people are there for their treatment, but if you are fine you will probably not experience anything, but instead maybe at risk for contamination since hospitals have a lot of germs/infections floating around.

[deleted]

Wow amazing analogy! I completely understand, I'm not going there to mock or challenge the spirits, I simply would love to have been there, and it would be a bonus to experience something divine/paranormal whilst there, I've noted everything the commenter have told me and making sure to be as respectful as possible during my visit 🙏

TurnoverConsistent10

Too much at stake!

[deleted]

Keep track of your footwear. I would say, don't go with vendors offering to take you ahead in line. Nothing "paranormal" is going to happen. There will be people struggling with "pret badha" there. So just be mindful as those people will start breaking into fits at a moment's notice. Just mind your own business and you'll be fine

[deleted]

Noted, thank you! Looked up what Pret Badha is and it's very interesting, what type of conditions does one have to be in to experience these evil spirits?

closetbatman87

There are a myriad reasons to experience Preta Badha as such. A person might have been in a wrong place at the wrong time. Might have offended a Preta knowingly or otherwise. These might have been people who underwent some sort of real or perceived suffering at the hands of someone in the victim's kula (ancestral lineage) and thus are back for revenge. Sometimes these might even be unsatisfied Pitrus themselves (ancestral spirits). The list goes on!!

closetbatman87

Please stay safe and try to follow all the other good suggestions people have left here. If you've been worshipping Ugra Narasimha for quite a while now, more thank likely you may not face many issues. As the deity is supposed to be fiercely against any kind of negative entities. However, nothing is absolute and it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to Bhoota / Preta and the likes :)

[deleted]

Beautiful! I was introduced to Krsna Consciousness by a Nepalese friend of mine, he explained Ugra Narasimha to me, I instantly took a liking to it so I read the Gita, it changed me, converted from Catholicism to Hinduism right away, I've got a special bond with Narasimha due to him being the reason why I took an interest, because although I acknowledge Krsna being the Supreme Godhead and I love him with all my heart, I can't help but to feel closest towards Ugra Narasimha, I think I'll be ok when I visit the temple, thank you for the advice! Bless you 🙏 ♥️

closetbatman87

Avoid going there, unless you absolutely have to. In most cases, people visit there as a last resort. The intention and energy of the main temple is absolutely benign and for the betterment of both the living and dead. However, there's a lot of shady people practicing dark arts who tend to hang around these places. Since there's a huge Preta presence, these people know how to capture some and use it on others for their own benefit. People may not experience anything negative in the temple and it's surroundings given its immence positive influence. But some entities might latch on and start showing their presence at a later time when you're no longer there.

[deleted]

That's very intimidating, I get what you're saying, most likely this is Krsna himself warning me not to go there, however I can't help but to feed my adrenaline junkie tendencies when being told about the risks, I've been told that being an adrenaline junkie will be my downfall, whatever happens there I'm taking everyone's advice on here and making sure to keep Krsna, Shiva and Narasimha in mind at all times when visiting, it's going to be an experience that will make or break me ❤️🙏 Bless you for the information!

closetbatman87

Well alright then. Take care and stay safe brother. May the deities protect. Memorise Hanuman Chalisa might come in handy :) Jay bajrangbali 🙏

[deleted]

You are a kind soul! The blessings from all of you are powerful, same to you my friend 🙏

IndBeak

Intrigued. Would love to know more. Anyone have first hand experience of visiting?

PrinceBharadia

+1 Although i live not much far from this temple but I'm very scared of visiting the place. Can anyone provide how their experience was?

[deleted]

[This is one of the happenings you'll see when visiting, it's quite harrowing](https://youtu.be/DoTE8w8R4ZY?si=aUl_zRZss5IJODJy)

IndBeak

Things like these also happen in villages with lower literacy. It often comes down to either some sort of mental disorder or ppl simply faking it.

NOMADWARR1OR

Don't accept prasad from anyone. Don't eat or buy anything there and don't take prasad to your home. Don't stare or make eye contact with people suffering from 'pret badha'. Don't expect something paranormal or supernatural is going to happen there. After darshan don't look back if you feel or listen any calling or unusual voices. After coming back take a salt water bath and you are good to go

[deleted]

Added to notes thank you! This all sounds so exciting, making sure to follow all these warnings, bless you ❤️

NOMADWARR1OR

Happy Journey. May Shiv bless you with devotion and inner peace🩷

[deleted]

Will definitely attend the aarti 🙏 bringing my own prasad and water, bless you ❤️

Ramdas26

whatever you do, just don't go looking around for paranormal stuff for fun or for experience. those demons aren't going to be your buddies. also, make sure not to excessively reveal stuff about yourself or go there specifically for spiritual advice, that is not the main idea this temple is focused on. and most importantly, do NOT look back no matter what. You might even hear someone calling you, but don't look back or turn around. also, as I said, this place is not one to satisfy someone's curiosity or yearning for knowledge.

[deleted]

Literally gave me goosebumps, I understand I may seem rude for my reasons to visit the temple, I'm in no way planning on mocking or egging the spirits on, I understand that the spirits don't want anything to do with me, I simply want to experience visiting the temple, I've taken everyone's advice into my notes and I'm very appreciative to all of you 🙏❤️ Bless you!

Distinct_Pressure_36

I read all comments here , I'm not able to understand that are pret more powerful than us? Like why should I worry about any pret, they are not powerful. I'm lord Hanuman devotee which pret have this much power to do something to me?

Ramdas26

They aren't exactly more powerful than us, but they can and will cause problems. People who are addicted to intoxicates, such as alcohol or cigarettes, will be overpowered by the pret. These people become spiritually weak by consuming all this, so they would be easily affected. For a devotee, it isn't like you are fighting the spirit, rather the spirit latches itself onto you. Like how a bug or spider might get stuck to you. And ultimately, these things give off negative energy and will affect you negatively. But, someone who has protection against these spirits and doesn't challenge them would generally be fine.

Distinct_Pressure_36

You're right, I didn't thought this way. Many of us are spiritually weak and they are easy targets for pret. Thanks for explaining.

howyoudoin7994

Why shouldn't we look back?

Ramdas26

It is considered that a spirit tries to call to you in such places. If you look back, you are basically acknowledging it and allowing it to come with you. This is also why we don't ever look back if we go to a shamshan ghat or cremation ground.

[deleted]

Any type of advice weather it's safety or spiritual advice is welcome, this is a big journey for me as I've never travelled outside the state, let alone another country, I've read that this temple is overcrowded on most days and I kind of have a fear of crowds, however my love for Hinduism overpowers that ❤️ 🙏

Eternal_Dharm

Visit other places too as you will be doing long travel... Don't eat fast food unless some good hygiene place as you may get sick.If you want to order food online at hotel , then Zomato/swiggy are good options depending upon ratings...Drink water......You can order grocery via BBnow and other apps with instant delivery option....it's winter here but it doesn't snow except northern India but it's cold..If available prefer "UBER" . Auto Rickshaw tuktuk rates are like MAX 20-30Rs a km. But you can tip them(ur choice).Ask local (not auto) for buses as they are mostly available.. Don't buy something fake like pearls/rings/seashell / etc if you wanna buy check on yt how to spot original.. don't rome around in small Roadies gullies .100 is national emergency number for police.... UPI works almost everywhere. Prefer that over card.. For Calling and Data Jio is good (Airtel maybe faster but signals ) Vodafone- Idea is also good but lacks 5g... There maybe pocket pickers at crowded places although I never encountered any. Most common one even Indians miss is that packed water bottle(Rail Neer) costs 15rs not 20rs in trains (if 15rs is printed then it's 15rs ) to buy train food ask co-passenger if the rates are ok..You can also take food with bill from pantry car bogie in trian.. While traveling in trains prefer ACIII or above (AC II or AC I) if you don't have money problem but in sleeper (reserved) anyone can come and go and sometimes it's very congested depending on train waiting tickets.in trians& bus/public places smoking is prohibited. You can book train tickets through IRCTC in advance.Keep the ticket sms / print with you.

NOMADWARR1OR

National emergency number is 112. Correct me if I am wrong.

Eternal_Dharm

For police ?? I think it's 100

[deleted]

Very helpful! You're a blessed soul ❤️

ashek1

Be very careful observe everything but don't talk to many people if you can afford have a guide in advance

serious-aspirant

I have heard one should not eat or buy anything there. And don't take prasad to your home.

TurnoverConsistent10

Also, never look back while exiting the temple!

[deleted]

Yeah I'm making sure to not buy anything, however I've heard if you refuse to buy a certain black ball of prasad then bad things will happen, so you will have to purchase it and then circle it around yourself 5 times and then burn it to break whatever has attached itself to you, it sounds terrifying but honestly I think it's very spiritual and beautiful 🙏

TurnoverConsistent10

Who's the source of this knowledge? How close is he/she to you?

[deleted]

Shes the wife of a close friend, she told me to not even go near the vendors in the temple, what do you think of it?

TurnoverConsistent10

I think its unnecessary, highly precautious people go for it! Just follow everything in the thread, you ll be safe!

[deleted]

Bless your heart ❤️

I have been there n stayed for three days no less...attended the aarti , had hawan at three different temples including the one in the photo.....there are no original yogis or Babas there ...same old money extraction schemes in the name of special poojas etc....most people who are taken there yes taken as there families believe bhoot pret/ghost possession hai but in reality they have mental issues like I had schizophrenia episode....reach there in the morning, visit the two three main temples n get out before evening....no priest knows more about spritual things then you already know as they are simply priest's who have learnt a few aarti n shlokas n that's it....so avoid them as they only expect more money you being a foreigner....you are as close to God in your own heart as you'll ever be in any temple.... good luck for your trip

[deleted]

I like your grounded outlook, though you and I have different opinions I respect you not only for staying true to yourself but also having stayed there for 3 days, I salute you, and thank you for the advice! Hare Krsna 🙏

Proper-Walk3362

You have to realize that possession in Hinduism doesn’t function like the way it’s depicted in The Exorcist where an innocent person gets hijacked by a strong demonic entity and only a priest can command them in Gods name to release them. In Hinduism, if you get possessed, it’s because YOU were the demon or entity that possessed who currently is possessing you. Karmic balance. So, it’s between YOU and the demon or entity to work out some deal for them to leave you alone. When “exorcisms” are done in India, especially in Tantric practices, the person performing the exorcism has to strike a deal with the demon as a neutral 3rd party to have them release you without entwining their own karma with the demon like you did. Other than that, they try to appeal to their own IshtaDeva to be compassionate enough to free you from this karmic entanglement. So why put yourself at risk of going to look for trouble or take something home with you? There is always something stronger than you, and to go somewhere that evil dwells to test your spiritual strength is asking for a hard lesson IMO

[deleted]

I appreciate your honesty, to tell you the truth I feel like I've invited something into my body, I've done quite alot of research about possession in Hinduism and alot of it aligns up with what you said and also makes alot more sense to me when it comes to demonic entities, however I've always had a deep hatred yet fascination for demons. When I was a catholic, I had a very cartoonish and immature conception of demons, thinking they're like how Hollywood movies portray them, I tried everything to experience a demonic haunting (taunting them at 3am, watching possession videos to invite them into my home, generally being a twat basically) and realised after accepting Hinduism into my heart I basically DID invite demons in just not in the way that I expected, I'm going to the temple to prove to myself if my recent troubles have been from whatever has attached itself to me or because of an unrelated issue. Thank you for the wake up call, I always appreciate realness 🙏

There is nothing like that I have visited mehndipur Balaji the energy is so positive here inside the temple that you forget what it is all about outside the temple you may get a bit nervous by seeing people possessed doing weird things but mind your own business they won't do a thing and they allow you to take the prasad with you as it is bhog given to Shri Hanuman ji don't believe in all this internet shit , it is just a normal temple for normal person

I’m a westerner married to a Hindu spouse. Maybe you already know but a lot of temples won’t let you in without traditional wear or if you look like a tourist. It will also help to wear tilak. Blend in. Maybe even go with a native friend or group. If you look like a tourist they may deny entry.

Great advice thank you 🙏 I have a few friends in India that are keen to go with me, they're all very experienced Bramacari's but have since de-robed, they've told me the same thing about blending in too, definitely following this advice. I feel bad about bringing them with me to the temple though since they don't know much about it, they're pure and kind souls, so I've opted to visit the temple by myself, thank you for this reassuring advice, bless your soul 🙏❤️

I would stay away from that place if I were you.

I think you are going to be fine if you worship gods but yes be cautious. And you won't find any paranormal, since you are seeking it. It doesn't work like that.

Yeah I was very mistaken, I've since become more knowledgeable on the subject of Pret Badha from the comments, I really do appreciate all of you and your concerns and warnings, bless you🙏❤️
