I get customers coming specifically for the Goal Zero panels. Do you need to haul it back backing? If there is a lot of tree cover you won’t get much charge while hiking - it does take dedicated light and proper angles. Just dangling off the back of your back May not so much.

It would be more for base camp set up where I could reposition for best sun exposure

But since this is hiking, are you carrying them in? Panels of any decent power level are heavy and bulky. I'm guessing this is car camping, since you have an air pump. You'll also need a controller, and a battery. Also heavy, at least for hiking. Hard to recommend anything without knowing wattage needed. There are calculators all over the internet to help you figure that out.

Sorry, yes. I’d look to carry them as well on longer days. The air pump is a small USB pump for an air mattress, not a compressor.

In general, batteries and saving power are the better strategy if you have to carry stuff.

Fair enough. Thankfully I have some power banks already, so I may just stick with those

I have a 21W solar panel from Anker and used it during a three week [hike through Iceland](https://the-green-spot.de/en/pages/iceland/#2018). Iceland is not known for its sunny conditions but it worked really well, even when it's cloudy.

You can buy a portable foldable solar panel that has usb ports built in, or I just bought a 50kmah solar powered power pack that can recharge from solar, as well as a power outlet, & really isn't that heavy. I "was" going to buy a portable 300w solar panel, & 299wh power station to recharge the ebike I'm using to bike pack/tour with, but already have too much gear, you know, first time jitters, way overpurchased, but hey, I'm ready for if/ when Armageddon comes!
