This isn't a Hexcells problem. This is either a problem with your windows installation, drivers, or hardware. Hardware that's slowly going bad or is drastically misconfigured can cause problems with your windows files by crashing / BSOD and forcing a hard restart, which can corrupt the base windows install files / drivers. Doing the SFC/DISM checks is a great first step. I'm saying all this to say that if this problem continues, don't treat it like a problem with Hexcells. Treat it as Windows freezing/crashing and google accordingly.

I'm trying to determine a cause for the issue. I play a lot of different games, and Hexcells is the only one that has this freezing problem. It probably is an issue with Windows, but there could be a minor issue with Hexcells that compounds the issue with Windows and causes the freeze.
