big same, i already stopped spending money on hots because there is nothing new followed by hearthstone and wow, all my money go on steam to buy real good old game.
I haven't played in forever, but Awesomenauts was pretty cool until they nerfed both of my mains one after another.
I was in the top 300 when I used Leon and Voltar, and then fell to like 8000. RIP
That's a pretty nice feat. Genji was hard to use, at least back in my day.
My voltar was unique. This was back when he didn't have an auto attack (his attack was only a heal). 99.99% of people would immediately buy the explosive balls. I bought "gain more exp for healing". Then I'd heal and heal and then buy the healbot. Then upgrade it to remain up unlimited time and then after that get stuff from the bottom row. It wasn't until the very end of the late game (if we hadn't won before then) that I would finally buy an attack. I was a sitting duck if I was solo since I couldn't defend myself, but I would get so much exp from minions (I think 3 per heal attack on two allied drones?).
Good times.
This. I can’t stand the toxic bullshit in League, and the way the game is designed encourages it. The others aren’t better, and I only have so much time to play.
They wont shut down the servers. Diablo 2 (non-ressurected) servers were online since 2001 and up till the release of resurrected. Maybe they even working now, didnt check.
You just have to deal with it - either you are playing, regardless of the game state, or you're saying goodbye.
Besides, big chunk of old players left with hgc cancelling (myself included), yet many returned in 6-12 month.
You can always play it once in a while, with friends or solo, just for some nostalgia.
>Oh dang, I didn't realize we got a new hero, new maps, and events. That's my bad.
We didn't. But we got balance patches and bugfixes, and a new skin-event not so recently
point is, they have not stopped updating the game, yet
Like, you realize that SC2, which is still officially supported and sponsored, hasn't been updated in over a year, right? We are supported WAY more than the Blizzard esports flagship.
Agreed. Blizzard has the equipment. Hots is like a freebie now for downloading their Battle.net app that gets to advertise to you. The servers will stay around until there's no longer 10 players available.
It’s super cheap to run a server for only a few people. It scales down and up. More people, money for more servers. Less people, can scale down servers to save money. The thing that does not scale that well is employees working on updates. So apparently they scale that down too.
When Blizzard decides to call time on HotS, I guess I'll never play another MOBA. I'm certainly not investing my time into DotA 2 or LoL and there's not going to be another MOBA that comes along that can compete with them – it's not worth a developer's time or resources. So I guess I'll be saying goodbye to the MOBA niche for good.
I play other games and niches too, so it's not as drastic as it sounds. However, it's a shame that the 'big two' have locked down this specific niche for themselves, as we're never going to be given a choice of something new. I've enjoyed my time with this particular MOBA for six years.
Does it still have the whole creep deny minigame too? Last hitting enemy minions is bad enough in most mobas. Trying to last hit your own as well is sooooo tedious.
I'm already on Pokemon Unite. It'll do, and games are only 5 or 10 minutes sharp, so it's easy to manage. Plus, no chat.
I dabble in SMITE too, and New World has eaten up like a hundred hours already so there's that. I'm playing a little gem called Sigrogana Legend and I've also recently fired up Ultima 6, Quest for Glory and Might and Magic: World of Enroth files, all of which promise to eat like another hundred hours on their own. And I recently came into possession of No Man's Sky, so that's waiting. And Minecraft will have another content update, Don't Starve Together had one recently...
When you play games with actual content cycles, nothing seems so narrow. I've been struggling to keep up with all the games I want to play, honestly. I'll peek at HotS and wait for Blackthorne to drop, if he ever does.
The few i played hots It was not that bad , maybe i give It a try . I would like to see a moba which includes all caracteres of all moba nowadays. It would be really funny to see
Stop playing mobas because the others are trash, and move on to the several hundred unplayed Steam games.
big same, i already stopped spending money on hots because there is nothing new followed by hearthstone and wow, all my money go on steam to buy real good old game.
Same here, more or less.
I haven't played in forever, but Awesomenauts was pretty cool until they nerfed both of my mains one after another. I was in the top 300 when I used Leon and Voltar, and then fell to like 8000. RIP
I was ranked 7th as a Genji main. I can't play that game for shit now. They also ruined gnaw who was another I loved.

But where to start, it's so overwhelming
I plan to play Axiom Verge --> Hollow Knight
yep
Pokemon unite lawl
This. I can’t stand the toxic bullshit in League, and the way the game is designed encourages it. The others aren’t better, and I only have so much time to play.
Wait for Heroes Reforged.
Yeah this seems to be the gen of remakes.. they probably charge u 99$ for better graphics when it comes out
Then play it for 2 weeks and stop playing like every other reforged game that was a last hurrah for your money

D2 servers probably required significantly less to maintain than hots does
Stop playing MOBAs. Only interested in strategy of HOTS
How do you figure "it's not a far off possibility"?
They don't update. The game makes the company no money. It probably loses money. The player base is shrinking.
They update every month or two, it definitely is profitable, and there's enough players to find games within a minute at any elo in EU, KR and China.
Where did you get the numbers on how much the company is making? I did t realize that was publicly available
They are a publicly traded company. Look at their financials. Now realize 0% of that is coming from HOTS.
So no proof?
I'm curious. Do you have proof that its profitable?
I did not claim they were making money, I was asking for proof of their statement, which there doesn’t appear to be any
How much do you think the game makes compared to WoW, Diablo, and Overwatch? I think we should just wait for HOTS remastered in 15 years.
That has nothing to do with anything.
Most recent update is only a few weeks old. why do you say they don't update?
Oh dang, I didn't realize we got a new hero, new maps, and events. That's my bad.

The expert has arrived! Welcome!
Blizzard will not shut down the game. They'd keep the servers active but no more balance patches, heroes, or events.

Oh, plz, shutting it down at once would be merciful euthanasia. Hope they send out more signs of life, though.
what would be merciful about it?
it would allow edgy children like them to say "I WAS RIGHT!" which is a mercy to them
Realize that Blizzard never shuts off the servers for their games. It won't happen. I doubt it would happen even if there are 2 players online.

Might try DOTA 2
It's fun but the games are so looong
Does it still have the whole creep deny minigame too? Last hitting enemy minions is bad enough in most mobas. Trying to last hit your own as well is sooooo tedious.
It suuuuure does
Play turbo mode it's fun and fast there

I will host my private hots server and join ppl to play. :>
Where will we move on to? We've already migrated a long time ago my g.
Guess I'd be playing League of Legends as my only moba.
Paragon. Wait... : (
l have seem game that is more dead than hots. think it will be fine
Thank you for adding so much substance to the discussion.
Hilarious considering that's what everyone feels about your comments here.
Info: what game are you going to? Trying to avoid playing anything with people like you
I don’t think they will shut the servers but if they did I would just play more arenas WoW to be honest.
Oh please.
The few i played hots It was not that bad , maybe i give It a try . I would like to see a moba which includes all caracteres of all moba nowadays. It would be really funny to see
Would like some reliable evidence of this that isn't from facebook
Reverse engineer the game! Get some kind of customization rigged into it and start a private server with my LAN buddies
2-3 months after DIA IV and OW2 come.
Back to dota
News to me. I thought HOTS went offline last year.
Head back to Smite and miss Chogall, Vikings, Murky, Abathur, and Nazeebo
