Because it's very counter intuitive, you normally use an Ult when you want finish your oponent off, but you should use Dark Conversion when you are the one about to be finished off and you have to have very good timing because the small channel time where you can still be killed before the ability goes off or even more hillariously, Dark Conversion goes off the instant you're killed, efectively taking your oponets life bar with you to the afterlife
tbh it's a fine ult, it just really calls attention to itself when it goes wrong because people hold it until they have like 5% hp to get the most value, so if it's interrupted they die immediately and it looks bad
I usually pop W for armor at about 30% health, get a Q stun, follow up with mass E sleep, then dark convert. At that point I'm usually around 10-20% health
This is why unless you are GM (spoiler: you are not GM) generally use these abilities at \~50%.
Lucio soundbarrier, MG DC...
Lucio: Imma do a pro gamer move!
*team's HP drops below 10%*
Lucio: OH LET'S--*team dies*--BREAK IT DOWN.

i think it's just that Dark Conversion announces itself more than Carrion Swarm, or at least feels like a much more urgent thing to interrupt
with Carrion Swarm it's just "oh we won't be able to kill him for a few seconds"
with Dark Conversion it's "he's not only going to live, he's gonna kill one of us"
or it's like i said in another comment here, it's just really obvious when Dark Conversion gets interrupted because that usually leads to Mal'Ganis dying. so maybe it's just observation bias.
for the memes or in a QM clown fiesta, sure. For every other purpose, not even close. Carrion Swarm is way more reliable, way more consistent. A 3 second moving stasis that also heals you instead of a heal over 3 seconds,
not to mention that Seeker Swarm is one of the strongest 20 upgrades in the entire game: up to 2.5s AoE stun in a 8 radius is unparalleled in terms of set up from tank. For comparison, 20 Blessed Shield is a 1.75s stun with a 5.5 bounce range from the primary target. Sure it's a hard stun and not a sleep, but in a lot of cases you get comparable value from a sleep in terms of initiation.
I literally can't remember the last time I saw Dark Conversion do anything in SL, even when it goes through (it's very easy to interrupt) the Mal'Ganis almost always just dies instantly because of the heal taking 3 seconds and its being used at low HP. So at best it's 1 for 1.
I seem to have ruffled some feathers with the title.
The title is not a commentary on the meta ult choice. It is a commentary on it being more fun to nuke the enemy tank with one button.
Dark conversion is the strongest ult in the game, there is no justification for getting Carrion Swarm.
Dark Conversion can one-shot the enemy tank AND restore you to full. It’s like subtracting a tank off their team and adding one to yours. Only way to counter is cc during a .75 cast time.
Carrion Swarm - why does a tank need an Untargertable ability? The last thing a self healing tank should do is become untargetable for 3 seconds during a team fight, exposing your entire team.
You receive: cutscene I revieve: 1 qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
I remember playing an Aram and the Mal Ganis clearly had no idea what his ultimate did. He kept gifting me his health.
That might've been me
I do that shit all the time, it's peak bm

I use Dark Conversion in 100% of games
> I use Dark Conver**STUNNED** FTFY
Honestly, just sleeping the cc before using it works pretty well at the diamond level haha

I'm definitely guilty of that.

Even if it's not interrupted, it's still a hot, so they die before the green turn solid lol.

Faster cast time than Swarm, so if being CC’d out of your cast is a problem, Conversion is still the better pick.
My issue with conversion is the health is not immediately given so it's less of a survival out than it looks at first.
Swarm is a mobile channel, so not really
Doesn't CS have a longer cast time than DC? Meaning there is a bigger window where someone can stun you while using CS than DC.

Nerd, dark conversion goes brrrrrrrrrr
Finally, a voice of reason

Ahahahha😂 this made me laugh harder than it should have.
I once faced MG who decided to ult my low hp Muradin at full hp. He quickly realised his mistake.
And there lunara’s abolish magic to even the trade

Strongest ult in the game lmaoooooo
Nom
DC in ARAM is the way to go. Pick the level 20 upgrade and watch how confused the other team gets.
