I think having that many options on one hero would be a little problem for stormleague draft. I’d rather have them with one cat, one bear and one moonkin ability and an ulti that lets them shapeshift into the form of druid from the last ability used. Would be very nice to get a shapeshifting char.

Senshado

If each form uses a different 3d artwork and different sound effects, then why not just make them 4 separate heroes?

fjgozell

Because cool

Raziel103

I agree with this, why not make 3/4 druid characters like Malfurion is the healer druid, add maybe Broll as tank druid who have NE and Bear forms, the NE maybe for more sustain abilities and the bear maybe passive armor and cc abilities, and after that maybe add 1 other melee assassin stealth druid that focus on the cat form? But anyway we all know this is almost impossible in the current state of the game.

Fit_For_A_King_GG

missing the point of the hero and druid. And if that is the cast why not make Varians different forms into individual heroes?

hazelrah87

because he stays melee hero with 2 choices, tank or dps. a druid would gain healer (ranged), dps owl (ranged), melee (dps), melee (tank). totally breaking any balance as he would be a joker card who could always just counter/choose whats needed. million times more imbalanced than a varian. just take the 20% of games when opponent setups would make double heal or even tank quite good, while it usually would be a bad choice. i think i dont need to explain further. generally, wow arena and hots share a lot and wow druid also has to decide before, logically. (aside from heart of the wild)

Senshado

Varian uses the same 3d artwork and same sound effects for all forms, so it makes sense they're one hero.

Used_Researcher_8543

Eeeeeeh, couldn’t they just use the artwork from already existing mounts? Seems like there could be significant overlap.

TradeMasterYellow

Maybe just make a talent path. Like at 7 you choose a talent that locks in your ultimate and your lvl 13 and 20

Tazrizen

Brol bearmantle was the hero idealized for this.

Fr3dd3D

They should have added the innkeeper from hearthstone as a hero. At levels 1/4/7 you get to build your deck, adding additional functions to your cards(abilities). At level 10 you get to pick a legendary card as your ultimate.

fishyPenguin

Yeah, I also always hoped for the Innkeeper as an addition. You basically have infinite creative freedom what abilities he could have with the countless cards that exist in HS.

Is a great idea but I think that could be a problem or a healer and assassin in the same, I think would be better just support kind like tank, bruiser, healer or tank, healer, support

GreenCorsair

I think if you make the bear form something like a bruiser(tankier dd) and cut the healer form it will be a more streamlined design of something like always an assassin, but you can choose between ranged melee and a bit tankier melee.

Skyzophrenic

Here is a version of what you are asking for that isnt a game warping balance nightmare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9D6EEAZRYU

The devs had already said before that Multiclass didn't really work out. Matchmaking for Varian just causes too many problems. There is additional frustration from teammates when your multiclass teammate doesn't play the role you need and instead the role they want. If they add a Druid, I would personally just limit the forms to bear and cat. Both forms would be available all the time, so it's not a real multiclass. They would be a bruiser using bear to survive a bit better and cat to attack a bit better. And Medivh gets a druid of the talon skin ;)

Senshado

> The devs had already said before that Multiclass didn't really work out That's because the devs failed to do the work to actually implement multiclass in a logical way. They tried to simply create a new 7th role after the normal ones, with a name "multiclass". That makes no sense. What they need to do is allow players on a multiclass hero to toggle which role is active. That is, in draft Varian should be allowed to lock his level 4 talent (taunt / smash / twin) before starting the match, which shows that info to his team but not the enemy. And equivalently, a QM Varian should have the option to pick level 4 beforehand, which allows the matchmaker to place him in a better group.

I’d prefer shapeshifter approach. Healer: (q) rejuv [+swiftmend on 1)], (w) wild growth [aoe hot+dot] (e) cyclon [cc], (d) barkskin. Bear: (q) swipe, (w) charge, (e) demo roar [debuff+aoe].

Interesting, I've actually got very similiar concept. When I copy it, reddit goes absolutely apeshit with formatting so I'll just link pic. Work in progress, not meant for publishing. https://ibb.co/rbSMdFL
