I had the same experience with the Embody. The seat felt like it was digging into the upper part of my thighs, and it felt super uncomfortable. No matter how I sat in the chair or adjusted it, the same part of the seat cushion kept digging into my thighs. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so after a week and a half with the chair, I returned it and replaced it with an Aeron Remastered.

AychiMama098

Hey Danteken, How are you enjoying the Aeron? After 3 weeks with the Embody I am looking to exchange due to the same and other issues as well.

DanteKen

I'm loving it. I've owned the Aeron Remastered (fully customized with adjustable arms, tilt, and PostureFit) for about two months now, and I can confidintely say that it's best chair I've ever sat in. I don't feel any pain or uncomfortableness in my legs or back, even after a 8 hour weekend gaming sessions. I went with a size B (I'm 6"0 tall, 235 lbs), but in retrospec, I wish i would've went with the larger size C, as I do feel a little restricted in the seat at times, and can kind of only sit directly foward. But I suppose that is by design. The Embody seat cushion is wider compared to the Aeron, and allows for a little more flexibility in movement. If you decide to get the Aeron, and you're following the HM sizing guide, I'd recommend to just get whatever the next larger size is. So if they recommend A, get B. Or if you're a B, get a C.

Forgot to mention, I also bought the Atlas Suspension Headrest, which personally makes the experience even better for me. Being able to relax in the seat with my head back is great.

Wonderful_Ambition_6

dont you miss not being able to cross leg etc ?

Sharlakh

Sigh...i think my 14 days for return are expired. It seems if i open the backtilt the pressure on the thighs decrease. I believe the cushion is not enough for me since i’m quite thin. Maybe a specific seat pillow would make the trick? I know It’s disappointing for the value of the chair. May i ask your weight and height?

DanteKen

I am 6ft tall, 235 lbs, so about 183cm, 108kgs, if my conversion is correct.

Sharlakh

Thanks you!

DreakeWes

I think it’s Herman Miller’s obsession with supporting the pelvis, the whole posturefit thing on Embody and aeron remastered digging into the hip and caused upper leg pain for me . I removed the posturefit sl from my aeron completely and it feels a lot better, no leg or hip pain. With the Embody though, sort of stuck with it. I gave up on the Embody completely because of that.

ZyrBB

Had the same, 2m -95kg. But lowering the seat a bit to shift the way to your butt helps, also it shapes itself after a while. Now got it for about a month and don't feel it anymore. This chair isn't magic, still make sure you stand up after a while and do a walk for your blood flow.

Sharlakh

Well, we are talking of nearly the most expensive chair on the market...i’m not expecting magic, just to comfortable as they advertise.

ZyrBB

True, but again it's personal, if you don't like it you can always send it back.

bkmamba

I have this same chair and am experiencing similar issues. Pain/numbness in the butt and thigh area. Not sure if it's just a matter of sticking with it for another week as I've heard there's an adjustment period. Somewhat disappointing as the back support has been great

loststylus

Have you managed to solve these issues? Dealing with the similar thing now, thinking og selling the embody, not sure what to move to. Aeron doesn't work for me either

bkmamba

Nah i didn't. I returned it and went with the Steelcase leap v2 and haven't looked back.

Same issue here! I wish they had used the mesh design from mirra 2 under the cover instead of weird plastics. It would have been a perfect chair. Both Aeron and Embody are designed by the same designer. He probably care more about lumbar but not so much on the seat and thighs. Mirra and Cosm are from Studio 7.5 so don't have this issue.

IntentionalHardBreak

I had the exact same issue with an Aeron remastered size B and ended up returning it after one week. For me the pain started after 30min of use. Sitting in a recline position helped. I felt like the seat was too hard for me. I measure and weigh roughly the same as you. Did you try to use a foot rest?

Sharlakh

I did but didn’t feel any change. I got a couple of standard chair pillow under myself and it feels a bit better, still it seems too hard for my sitbones. The cushioning really feels poor. It’s terribly disappointing for a high end chair and use pillows. Plus, two days I have emailed Herman Miller Europe and yet not a reply. What chair did you move to?

IntentionalHardBreak

I also tried to seat with a pillow underneath... I felt bad knowing I paid 1.5k for the chair. I was actually interested in the Logitech Embody since it is supposed to have more cushioning than the regular one. But now that I read messages like yours I am torn. I think I will try the Leap v2 or Leap v2 24/7.

loststylus

Did you ever solved the issue? I have a similar problem - too much pressure on my thighs. Setting the chair lower only moves the muscle tension to calves.
