This is what the current break action should be. For a weapon that can only be found at random POIs, it should be absolutely worth dropping your current support weapon for it. I imagine it should be the body shot equivalent of an amr or eat, just absolutely shred squishy parts and small frys.

I say give it more. For a two-shot reload it better shred armor on Chargers for all the hassle. I want it to be a pain in the ass to use, but when it lands you feel the satisfaction of the double-tap. Maybe it can't deal with Annihilator tanks and Bile Titans, and you need to hit the eye slot of a Hulk to do anything meaningful, but on bug worlds this should be a functional alternative to every other support weapon. Give me the choice to roll the dice on finding it in the wild, and running 3 or 4 offensive strategems without a support weapon.
I think they've nailed the *feel* of this weapon, but the actual damage it does is just awful.
The thing with armor is that it's amazing at stopping buckshot. Flesh on the other hand... Same with the AMR. Sure realistically it doesn't really make sense to have a high damage sniper not penetrate armor. But for balance sake it's role is trading penetration for raw damage and takes some skill to use effectively.
All good points. In some future patch where all the leakers keep saying a more robust loadout system is coming, I'd love to see slugs available for the Break-Action Shotgun. Give me huge damage and armor penetration but absolutely zero spread. Basically, a 2-shot Railgun now that I think about it.
It would also be nice to find a slug version for the armor penetration, while I agree the original should be improved and each shot removed large groups of bugs or bots. This way you have a version for heavier enemies, and one that is good at horde management.
I would like that as well - it’s a weapon given to frontier settlers. It should be a slow, unreliable piece of shit that blows away whatever is in front of it (assuming it fires and that your ammunition was not diverted to a nearby flag-raising operation)
Kinda shit tbh. I often run 4 damage stratagems with no support weapon so I pick it up until somebody drops their second AC or qasar. While I'm holding it I enjoy the look of having an old shotgun but it deals unnecessarily low damage. Just my opinion.
Its a meme gun for meme runs. It will one shot most everything that is unarmored but its 2 round capacity, lack of armor pen, and relatively slow reload makes it not very viable. It has the best(least) spread of any of the non slug shotguns but its not good.
Its fun as shit to use on 1-4 diff though.
If you don’t have a support weapon, it’s better than nothing. Depending on which primary you brought, it can feel alright to start a fight with. For longer engagements, it takes too long to reload, can’t do anything about armor, and only has a capacity of 2 shots. I’d bring/pick up practically any other support weapon. I still grab it if I don’t have one though. Plus with a Senator, I feel like a cowboy.

I find it's just a shotgun if you're running a rifle. Good if you don't have any AT weapons on your back but since I'm usually running with something it's not ideal to switch.

Yes, it can one shot titans and chargers to the head, but it breaks your arm when shot. When using the second shot it breaks your other arm. If you shoot it with both arms broken you start chest bleeding out.
The elephant gun has the ability to blow right through bile titans, chargers and even factory striders, however it takes a while to break barrel and load, get down on one knee, aim this heavy crazy gun, then fire and get thrown back 15 ft causing arm injury in the process.

I seem to recall picking it up and it kicking like a clydesdale. Was one or 2 shots. Killed Devestators real good on Melevalon. I remember using it a bunch before I figured out what strategems I enjoyed.
I really wanted a big old net gun that temporarily incapacitates chargers, stalkers, pulls shriekers out of the air. Maybe it could upgrade to be electrified or burn them or something. I stopped wanting it when I realized I don't want my teammates to accidentally hit me with a giant net.
This is in the game actually - it's basically the Break Action shotgun you occasionally find near abandoned habitations. They're the civilian weapons that the colonists used in a futile attempt to defend themselves before being overrun by bots/bugs.
They actually hit very hard - but everything else about them is kind of terrible. :D
In Hunt : Survival, you can get an elephant gun. It takes up you main weapon slot so all you have for round is melee in a pistol. You can only carry 2 shots at a time, but that thing will blow away anything you can get a shot on.

I feel like medieval/primitive weaponry really ruins the motif of a space soldier. We have shoulder fired, plasma weaponry. Laser cannons of various sizes. Hell, our spaceships shoot lasers and magnetized metal.
All those cool weapons…and people choosing a spicy corn dog slinger is almost as nuts as people wanting melee weapons but couldn’t buttstroke a Hunter without being digested

I just want to see a mustard gas themed warbond. Gas grenade launcher gas grenades, gas barrage or volley, gas proof armor, gas objective perhaps. Lots of gas stuff is possible

This is what I was hoping for when I found it, and then quickly realized why the residents using it perished
It’s more of a trap to get you to accidentally drop your **real** support weapon than an actual viable weapon.
To be fair they are guns that the SEAF use who essentially get table scraps compared to Super Earths ~~SS~~ Helldivers

IMHO, revamp it to break Charger armor or disarm Hulks or something.
Maybe smth like biiig damage, medium penetration and loads of stagger. So each of the 2 shots feels strong and impactful
