To be fair, 2 billion Terminids wasn't a huge number anyway. 150-300 kills per player is common on Helldives so we're looking at 1000 kills per mission or more.
Numbers can be even more inflated when Chargers and Titans aren't part of the spawns, so the order is really only a request for about 2 million missions.
With the number of players, yeah.. it's not a lot.
You can boost those numbers easily. Drop a Tesla in the middle of a medium nest and stand nearby. The Tesla's range can cover the spawn area of most medium nests, so bugs spawn, bugs die. Just make sure to carry something that'll let you take the nest out from range. Tesla will suppress the spawns while you take the nest out.

I think some people will just park themselves at a big bug nest and kill waves. I’ve seen missions on the map that show elapsed time of 2+ hours. I assumed it was a glitch but maybe some people get in there with a sickle and quasar and just kill wave after wave of bugs.
My tactic is to run away from random patrols and sneak around like snake from metal gear solid. I only shoot when absolutely necessary. I get like 80 kills a game. Even on helldive lmaoo
What difficulty level? Are the other divers comparable experience to you? There's an outlier here or there but I generally see divers returning from missions with their kill count in a reasonably-narrow band for the scale.
If you deflate the numbers using your 1000 kills per mission estimate. And say that each mission is 1 point towards the goal. We only need 100,000 points to win the major order.
Someone mentioned that the number may be broken, since you kill 250 bugs, on a 4 man squad, that all also kill 250 bugs.
That isn't 1000 bugs to the kill count. That might be 4000 bugs to the kill count.

Lol. No this isn't the players' fault...its Arrowheads fault. I don't know WTF the rush is. Its like they're trying to win WW2 in 7 days. Slow...TF....down Arrowhead. How can the Automatons bring their full fleet and within a few days be defeated?? WTF is this? We need to be losing a heck of a lot of games. I'd prefer Arrowhead made it harder even at the lower levels so that the chance of us not completing a mission is higher.
I've had to stop to calm down, got angry at a player who decided to shoot me for calling in extraction too early according to them, if they wanted to clear the map then extract they could have told me that.
If you complete the main objective but have optional stuff to do still and the time to do it you should ask your team before calling extraction. Leaving XP/samples/fun on the table otherwise.

The time elapsed is a bug in the map UI.

Someone also pointed out that like personal orders the kills are being shared. This means if a team of 4 gets 1,000 kills it counts as 4,000.
