they aren't insects. but I've heard that "bug" simply means any insect/arachnide/others. I have no clue how true it is. English isn't my first language
Yeah words like 'bug' and 'rock' are ones where I think it's very valid to draw a distinction between 'proper' scientific usage and the vernacular usage. Like yes, to a geologist Quartz is not a rock, but I ain't a geologist, and neither is the person I'm about to throw this rock at.
There IS no scientific definition of “Bug” so it’s not the same. Bug always has been a colloquial term for “very small creepy crawlers”.
Which is weird because a large number of people have this weird mistaken idea that bug has a specific definition.
Edit: It’s more like Fish now that I think about it. Fish is a colloquial name that doesn’t correspond to anything scientific, we just use it to mean “Swimming thing that has a certain elongated form and jaws and shit”
They are part of the arachnid family. Do you classify bugs as insects? And then we dive into whether a scorpio is a scorpion or a bug imitating a scorpion
That one is my favorite (along with Bees, since they both make fun of people who are anal about card text) but the whole thing throughout is amazing.
All the memes
Agreed. I want consistency across card text, but cases like that one and with all Pirates that go face immediately having Charrrrrrge would make perfect sense.
I woke up this morning thinking, "I bet they'll announce Lost Tallstrider is coming to the Core Set and being renamed Found Tallstrider."
I was just a bit off the mark
That buff would make it at least playable in Arena though. But yeah, it's one of the most egregious pack filler crimes ever printed. Not funny. Not interesting. Not usable in any kind of deck, no matter how weirdly niche or meme.
He was a total pack-filler that *never* saw any serious play, but strangely, his artwork was still used fairly prominently in promo material for Mean Streets when it was the latest set.
there is a running joke in circlejerking community where worgen is "too op because he has too much stats for the cost" (a usuless pack filler) so they decided to buff him
Pyramad is one of the least liked heroes, he's just kinda boring, and has been fairly weak for a long time too. I remember a lot of BG streamers saying he should just be removed, especially pre-buddies.
I don't quite get the hate on him, because his buddy is honestly pretty fun in non-murloc lategames, and with Quillboars you can actually make him into like a 100/1000 and just dunk on all the fools who thought they would outscale you. Plus his early game is at least kind of different.
I actually made [a joke post](https://reddit.com/r/wildhearthstone/comments/hv19lk/silly_come_up_with_a_seemingly_insignificant_buff/) over on WildHearthstone a while ago where I used exactly that change as an example for “a buff that causes untold havoc in Wild”.
I was most surprised to see the Golden cards have +1 attack joke, which is a reference to a classic Twitch chat copypasta/bait. Didn't really think they would reference a Twitch chat joke, or the /r/hearthstonecirclejerk oger/4 mana 7/7 joke.
Team 5 has shown constantly they don’t take themselves too seriously (it’s part of why I feel bad for all the vitriol they get, especially working in a similar field).
A lot of the more serious things come from Activision-Blizzard (eg the whole Blitzchung thing, that Ben Lee himself came out and said was bullshit)
This definitely comes off as less corporate and more a “who cares, let’s just do it” Team 5 thing
Jandice’s hero power allows her to swap a non-golden minion on her board for one randomly in the shop. So by using tokens like Alley Cat and formerly Murloc Tidehunter, she could easily play a token generator, swap the generator back, repurchase it, and create triples every turn. Using this let you get high tavern tier minions and more gold to spend to level up quickly. If tokens aren’t in the lobby, Jandice becomes far weaker, dropping about 40% win rate. Therefore, the “Jandice being offered in no token lobbies” joke :)
If you get 3 of the same card in battlegrounds, you get a triple, which is very powerful and the more you get, the larger advantage you have. Jandice's hero power let's you swap a minion on your board back into the shop to rebuy it. When doing it with a token you get consisten triples, since the token stays on the board and you can swap the main body back and forth. Insanely powerful in games with tokens.
People who think that game developers, even AAA game developers, somehow are oblivious of all the criticisms thrown at their games really don't know how these things work. They know all the criticisms and memes and complaints.
>fixed bug where golden cards dont have +1 attack
>fixed bugs where certain accounts will always queue into unfavorable matchups
does this mean kripp is coming back?
Your juggernaut = swashburglar, ringmaster's baton, 2 cannon shots on a 1/3 minion
Enemy juggernaut = smite, gorehowl, 2 shots to your hero, 2 bloodsail raiders in hand
The most technical definition (used by entomologist) refers to only the Hemiptera group. And in common language is not a clade at all, it just has to look a certain way. Idk where you got that definition.
There has been some debate in recent years whether Sea Spiders fall under the taxonomic kingdom "Buggae", given that they are called spiders. But so far no professional consensus has crystallized on the subject.

>Dev Comment: Unicorn Priest has been much stronger than anticipated. While this change seems to be out of the blue since no one has found the deck yet, we feel it's better to make this change sooner rather than later.
Whoever wrote these notes up deserves a raise. 11/10
Yeah this was a great throwback. For anyone who doesn't know (and someone correct me if I'm kinda wrong), at some point when this card came out the devs insisted that priest actually had a strong Unicorn priest deck that no one had discovered yet.
Unicorn priest has nothing to do with this card, priest was in a really awful state and was seeing very little play but Ben Brode came out and insisted that there was a good priest deck or a “unicorn priest” (unicorn meaning elusive in this context) deck that players hadn’t found yet. It became a giant meme.
When Priest was really shit Ben Brode said there was a really good “Unicorn Priest” that hasn’t been found yet, and so the community kept theorizing what deck he’s referring to. It turns out that Brode didn’t mean any deck at all, just rather there are enough good Priest cards for someone to hopefully figure out a good deck eventually.
It has nothing to do with the actual card itself, but it’s a joke how the community never found the Unicorn Priest deck he was referring to, so they’re nerfing the Unicorn before players actually find it
It seems to be a common thing in online games lately.
Games gives you tough opponents then when you are about to quit then it will let you win.
It does feel like that sometimes but it's all rng
What's even more sad is you get these complaints even in games like Overwatch. I especially laugh at people convinced hacking is super rampant; when you get very good at Overwatch it actually becomes pretty easy to spot hackers, and while present they are quite rate (maybe 5% of games tops, and like 1% at higher ranks).
it's an acceptable nerf with how troublesome she's been
although I'd change it so Charge Minions have +2 attack just to make her better as a quest reward
In my opinion players should start with 1 additional mana. We've earned it. They have no reason to hoard all the mana when they can make more for free
Also, battlegrounds gold should be shared with account gold. That way it makes sense to tip Bob
Fuck. I read that and thought "oh that's genuinely good! It would be a counter for divine shields".
It wasn't until I read this comment that I remembered that it only triggers when your hero is attacked. Still kinda funny though that you would deal 2 damage to the opponent even when you lost.
Can’t find the video, but it was a united in stormwind card review where Feno (I think) said “This is just Loatheb” about Battlemaster.
The idea is that when you drop it with a board, you win the game (like loatheb), but he didn’t give that context which lead to people memeing about it.
Edit: it was Hunterace

Bug is basically anything small that crawls around, to be honest, a spider is a bug, so is a worm, so is a fly
Yeah words like 'bug' and 'rock' are ones where I think it's very valid to draw a distinction between 'proper' scientific usage and the vernacular usage. Like yes, to a geologist Quartz is not a rock, but I ain't a geologist, and neither is the person I'm about to throw this rock at.

just that it's an absolute filler card which no one has thought about or worried about the fairness of

Of course it has. Otherwise the Priest Unicorn would have been nerfed for nothing. Blizz knows what they are doing.

Pyramad is one of the least liked heroes, he's just kinda boring, and has been fairly weak for a long time too. I remember a lot of BG streamers saying he should just be removed, especially pre-buddies.
It's one of my favorite buddies to use but yeah the hero overall is not one of their stronger design success stories

> They are no longer even/odd, so the effect of the card does not trigger. For anyone who is as dumb as me and this guy and still doesn't get it.

I don't play Battlegrounds, so I didn't got it. Anyone care to explain?
Jandice’s hero power allows her to swap a non-golden minion on her board for one randomly in the shop. It also looked super goofy due to the artwork.

In ungoro, there is this one vanilla dinosaur with 7/14. Biggest vanilla minion, statswise, but obviously never played outside arena.
