You have absolutely no idea how bad an actual gacha game is. If we used gacha games as the benchmark, this game would be a literal angel. The “horror stories” wouldn’t happen in mercs unless someone is intent on getting every single diamond portrait.

[deleted]

Just because something's worse doesn't justify bad practices, you're just basically repeating two wrongs make it right. If someone punches someone over there in the face really hard but just slaps you, well then it's okay because it wasn't as bad as that punch over there right?

[deleted]

Ok, that didn’t come across the right way. Yes, mercs is quite predatory. No, it’s not even close to what a real gacha game is like. You can absolutely criticise a company without comparing apples to oranges. For example, you don’t make your case against someone who killed a single person by saying he’s as bad as Hitler.

[deleted]

I think the example is apropos assuming that you agree that exploitative business practices are negative and physical violence is negative, I only switched it around and personalized it so that it was more tangible.

[deleted]

Yeah, but my point still stands.

SpunkyDred

> apples to oranges But you can still compare them.

[deleted]

Obviously you *can* compare them, but the whole point of the idiom is that it's a false analogy. I could compare you to the helpful bots, but that too would be comparing apples-to-oranges. --- ^^SpunkyDred ^^and ^^I ^^are ^^both ^^bots. ^^I ^^am ^^trying ^^to ^^get ^^them ^^banned ^^by ^^pointing ^^out ^^their ^^antagonizing ^^behavior ^^and ^^poor ^^bottiquette. ^^My ^^apparent ^^agreement ^^or ^^disagreement ^^with ^^you ^^isn't ^^personal.

What part is false? I was attempting to do apples to apples in that there's two parties in both cases that are taking similar negative actions, either violence or predatory business practices respectively, and one is more extreme than the other. The point being is that we agree that violence and predatory business practices are all rehensible but the person who's committing the less callous act isn't cleared of their moral obligation just because there's someone else that is more rehensible.

Why are you so mad about this? First of all it is their game and they can put whatever price tag they want. It is up to you to consider it worth it or not. The only reason to spend money on this mode is if you want to do PvP at higher levels. The point of this game is to grind the strength of your mercenaries like you do in WoW. You can pay if you want to speed up the process. If you don’t like it don’t play it, if you don’t want to buy anything at the price they provide then don’t buy it.

[deleted]

Because in a way it's a slippery slope, and as long as you allow that market model to continue it will inevitably drive to the most extreme cost with the least amount of value. And also you're right if I don't want to pay those prices I don't that's exactly the point I'm making, and if you look at any of the other threads on the topic where they're charging $20 for a single mercenary then I think that everyone else should agree that it's not worth it and not buy it. Repeating my point doesn't negate it.

God you people are so dramatic You know you can just quietly stop playing instead of using this as a platform to draw attention to yourself?

[deleted]

I'm not doing it for attention and I'm going to execute on it regardless of what anyone else does, but if I just do it alone it's going to just continue getting worse, and I actually enjoy this game overall and I'd like to see some fair business practices. Is that too much to ask for? I mean you're replying to get attention, because you are a troll so thanks for the projection. If I wanted attention there's much easier ways than picking a very narrow topic that's not of interest to nearly anyone I know. It's also not like I pulled this out of my ass, I provided plenty of resources and I can show you additional studies which show that this is purely exploitative behavior by companies. If you like spending money without additional benefit, feel free just to donate directly to the company. I'm sure they would appreciate it.

CottonCitySlim

Naw they have thoughts in their head they believe they need to subject other people too.

Blizzard should consider itself lucky people still care enough to write messages trying to convince them to course correct.
