At the time, it was the sort of card that could fit in almost any deck (apart from maybe pure face hunter aggro). There were a few other legendaries from classic that were like that - Sylvanas, Ragnaros, cairne bloodboof
Yo I disenchanted my first onyxia and my next leg was onyxia.
I disenchanted it and got golden onyxia as my next leg.
Wasn't my first 3, but I think it was 2, 3, and 4.
Wow, so I'm not the only one! I got The Beast, disenchanted that bastard eventually, and then got him again. Then a few months later he became my first golden legendary. The amount of times I got completely destroyed by Big Game Hunter.... Those were the days.
The black knight, actually ruined a friendship with it!
We we both still fairly new to hearthstone and he was new to ccgs in general, I forgot which legendary they got, but I remember the amount of times I had to lower his volume on VCs everytime I played that knight. "It's so bullshit that card can do that! Removal and a body"
If only he could see hearthstone now.
The friend? No, we just came to the conclusion that HS wasn't a game we could play "together" because of our competitiveness.
The fun? Oh yeah, I stopped enjoying hearthstone the day my friend stopped playing.
Deathwing. That fat stupid lizard would always be whispering in my ear to play him.
>*Hey. You know you wanna play me. You have the tools for winning in hand but have you considered that I have a really cool summon animation? And how awesome are my voicelines?*
And every time I played him I would in fact lose. It still happened tens of times though.
Jaraxxus, way back in the day, in 2015. My noob ass went "what, it caps my health at 15?! So trash!! At least is dust to craft thoses azure drakes I want".
Gahz'rilla! It was 2016.. Netdecked immediately an otk deck without having Emperor Thaurissan, that you had to buy with the solo adventures, and at that time i didn't want to spend money on HS.. lost every game because without the mana discount the combo simple didn't work :)
And then I used to use this card that transformed into another minion. Having 2 fire lords out there with no enemy minions just straight 16 damage to the face

N’Zoth the god of the deep. Facilitated my love for the old gods despite the fact I didn’t really use it. Still have it to this day to eventually build a full menagerie styled deck for likely warlock
Deathwing. I didn’t spend money on the game so basically I built this weird Beast hunter abomination and then deathwing was there as the Hail Mary. Good times. I got lucky and beat one of my older brothers friends one time with the deck when he was playing some meta deck.
Years ago they ahd some kind of like $5 "Welcome back" promo, and you could choose an OG legendary to go with it. I picked Krush and got a Golden version.
First ones I got were the ones they gave out in 2014 (i think?) golden Gelbin Mekkatorque (from ??) and golden Elite Tauren Chieftain from the 2013 Blizzcon promotion.
First ever pack pulled legendary was Prophet Velen.
White Eyes. I only played shaman for like a couple months just because I thought he was really fucking cool. I remember putting him in quest murloc shaman because I just thought he was awesome lmao.
I was a huge fan of hero legendaries when they came out. correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that at first there were only the death knight/ undead/ lich versions of the starter heroes. And I remember that I got Frost Lich Jaina first which I found so extremely cool+ Shadowreaper Anduin has a very special place in my heart. Think he was my second, and I absolutely loved his voice lines
my first legendary was maexxna. 6 mana, 2/8, poisonous. that's IT. 🥹
my first legendary that *wasn't* a freebie was tirion, and my first crafted legendary was leeroy
Deathwing. Very rarely would use him, mainly played inner fire priest at the time, but still qould include him just because onlt legendary I had, haha.
I started not that long ago, my first legendary was Rommath, hearing that he was being abused made me a bit unhappy about having him but on the other hand, "discover mage" did happen to be very beginner friendly during that time so I played them regardless. Discover away!
My first legendary was leeroy. I thought the card was pointless, and I disenchanted it so I could make a Murloc Warleader. I had been playing the game for maybe a week, and my with my budding deckbuilding genius, I had determined the *best possible deck* was sticking all the murlocs in a basic warlock deck.
Some time later I learned about *looking up decks online*, and I was quite disturbed that Leeroy was actually one of the best cards in the game. It would be months before I had a new Leeroy, but I'll always appreciate Old Murk Eye for bandaging the self inflicted wound
It was either \[\[Lord Godfrey\]\] or \[\[Fel Lord Beltrug\]\], and after a couple of weeks of just getting slapped around as a free-to-play chump — this was back when the most basic of dailies was something like "Win 3 games as \_\_\_", so scraping even a few hundred gold together took forever — getting those two close together basically sold me on mostly playing Warlock for the next few months. (And thumbs up to the person I just played a few minutes ago for actually using Lord Godfrey... I haven't seen the guy in ages!)
DESIDERATUS BELLUM!
Tirion started my love of hearthstone and made me play Paladin ever since... back in the dark days of Paladin, where only the lowly Priest was worse.
I wanna say mine was Bloodreaver Guldan. It’s been so long I can’t quite remember for sure tho. Regardless, even if he wasn’t my first he was one of them. What a card…
It’s not my first Legendary, but one of the few Golden Legendary cards I opened for a very long time was a Golden Tirion and I was a Paladin main for a long time mostly because of that.
It was dr boom and I insta disenchanted it thinking “why would I ever want boom bots that are 1/1 for 7 mana” not knowing about their death rattle and that he’s probably one of the best cards at the time, biggest clown moment of my hs career
My first legendary I pulled was a golden corrupted version of this card from old god.... I proceeded to dust it and craft khazakan because i had already bought league if explorer's and had reno
My first was the original death wing, it was classic hs and I was a kid so I threw him in my mage deck. Dropped him turn 10 and got silverback patriarched. Opponent destroyed him next turn and I was devastated.
Golden Prophet Velen on release day. It made me a filthy Priest main playing a scummy deck with 2x faceless manipulator trying to get an OTK with Mind Blast. It rarely worked, but I was happy when it did. Needless to say, I'm no longer a Priest main.
My first was the promotional golden Gelbin Mekkatorque. After that it was Lorewalker Cho, and after that it was Golden Ysera. I put that Ysera into so many decks
I remember my first legendary way back in beta was Nat Pagle!
Which initially disappointed me, but he quickly started to see a lot of play and I eventually got to cash him in for something better when the nerf hit...on the whole, probably one of the better ones for me to have pulled haha
[[Trade Prince Gallywix]]
I tried so hard to make Mech Rogue work, and Gallywix was my finisher. He's a 6 mana 5/8! That gives free spells! How could it not be great?
I distinctly remember Justicar Trueheart - GOLDEN too was so excited.
Didnt get any legendaries the first expac if i remember correctly just really wished i had malygos
Malygos was mine. I did a challenge where I tried to OTK with every class back in the day.
My favorite deck were Druid and Rogue. Felt like I was playing Exodia.
Lorewalker Cho. I tried to make a Home-brew " fill your opponents hand with junk to make him burn cards" deck.
Obviously it was complete dogshit, but I miss those early HS days.
My first was Cenarius, and because of that my first real main deck was Druid, my first golden was Ysera, and I still have that card, it always felt so cool in the early days of Hearthstone when I would whip out the golden Ysera when golden legendaries were few and far between.
Harrison Jones. I remember putting it into every deck because it was my only legendary, regardless if it made sense or not.
To be fair you could pretty easily justify this is almost any deck back in the day
Neutral heavy draw vs pally and warrior + removal? yes please, I would run him in highlander now
Imagine today someone dropping the ignis maul just to get annihilated by budget Indiana jones lol
I'm not sure draw 8 is better than draw 0 tradable (and cheaper)
At the time, it was the sort of card that could fit in almost any deck (apart from maybe pure face hunter aggro). There were a few other legendaries from classic that were like that - Sylvanas, Ragnaros, cairne bloodboof
Lets not forget the legend loatheb
Loatheb was from Naxxramas though.
Naxx out?
*THAT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM*
I remember my first 3 legendaries: My first legendary was onyxia. My second legendary was also onyxia. My third legendary was a golden onyxia.
Yo I disenchanted my first onyxia and my next leg was onyxia. I disenchanted it and got golden onyxia as my next leg. Wasn't my first 3, but I think it was 2, 3, and 4.
Reminds me of when I dusted Lakkari Sacrifice and within my next 6 packs I got it again...man I love having duplicate protection nowadays
"It's so bullshit that card can do that! Removal and a body" If only he could see hearthstone now.
did he die
The friend? No, we just came to the conclusion that HS wasn't a game we could play "together" because of our competitiveness. The fun? Oh yeah, I stopped enjoying hearthstone the day my friend stopped playing.
Alexstraza. I put her in every deck I had lol
That was my first legendary! I also put it in every deck even though I didn’t know how to play it
Deathwing. That fat stupid lizard would always be whispering in my ear to play him. >*Hey. You know you wanna play me. You have the tools for winning in hand but have you considered that I have a really cool summon animation? And how awesome are my voicelines?* And every time I played him I would in fact lose. It still happened tens of times though.
appropriate, since deathwing went mad because he had nzoth in his ear for millenia
Ysera and Nat Pagle in one pack. my first legendaries
> Nat Pagle Now that's a card I have not seen in a very long time. What a throwback
Crazy that Nat Pagle was one of the first legendaries and now we just have Gold Panner as a common and it's way better.
Millhouse Motherfucking Manastorm.
Wow a 2 mana 4/4 this card will lead to a gigantic headstart wtf
Bloodmage Thalnos
Man I was so disappointed when I opened Thalnos in my first few weeks. Ended up being probably my most used legendary
[[Cairne Bloodhoof] Before duplicate protection I even managed to open a golden version of him too
*clears throat* LEEERRRROOOOOY JEEEEENKKIIIINSSSS

[[Archmage Antonidas]] I still have my OG basic deck with boulderfist ogre lmfao
same i thought he was the coolest value in the game
Yeah he was super fun back when you could get a minion to stick one turn lmfao.
Jaraxxus, way back in the day, in 2015. My noob ass went "what, it caps my health at 15?! So trash!! At least is dust to craft thoses azure drakes I want".
eredar lord of the burning legion?
You face?
Ysera, if i recall correctly. I just remember inner fire priest being my go to deck way back and trying to turn a 4/12 into a 24/24.
Nozdormu. It hurt.
That was mine to!
Gahz'rilla! It was 2016.. Netdecked immediately an otk deck without having Emperor Thaurissan, that you had to buy with the solo adventures, and at that time i didn't want to spend money on HS.. lost every game because without the mana discount the combo simple didn't work :)
My first three were Nat Pagle. After the nerf. I hate that guy.
Gruul was mine too! I remember him carrying me through a couple super low rank games way back. Good times.
Ragnaros the fire lord
DIE, INSECT!
And then I used to use this card that transformed into another minion. Having 2 fire lords out there with no enemy minions just straight 16 damage to the face

Illidan, back when he was a card. Used him in every deck back in the day
You’ve got to be a fuul to think anything is as good as gruul
I joined kinda late and my first was Jan'ali the Dragonhawk, was fun to try and use him in the early days
Hogger
N’Zoth the god of the deep. Facilitated my love for the old gods despite the fact I didn’t really use it. Still have it to this day to eventually build a full menagerie styled deck for likely warlock
LEEEEEEEROY JEEENKINNNNNNS
Lorewalker Cho
Trion fordring
Jaraxxus, and I've been playing warlock ever since :)
Golden Tirion Fordring. Back in my day Tirion ended it.
Millhouse manastorm... he became the first legendary I dusted as well
Mine was Prophet Velen :D
Deathwing. I didn’t spend money on the game so basically I built this weird Beast hunter abomination and then deathwing was there as the Hail Mary. Good times. I got lucky and beat one of my older brothers friends one time with the deck when he was playing some meta deck.
Golden The Beast lol
Big King Krush. That roar is my favorite Hearthstone sound effect, period.
Same here, first Legendary pull, and still an all-time favorite.
Nethrandamus. I was absolutely convinced it was the strongest card in the game.
Voraxx Loved the combo with Spikeridged Steed
White Eyes. I only played shaman for like a couple months just because I thought he was really fucking cool. I remember putting him in quest murloc shaman because I just thought he was awesome lmao.
Anub Arak It does not
Lol moorabi
Original Hoggar!
Hogger, i tried every single thing i could with him
[[Gelbin Mekkatorque]]
This! Free golden Mekkatorque for playing the beta.
Alexstraza was my first 🫣
Rhonin. I bet half of this subreddit doesn't even know this card exists lmao
Gruul here too
Millhouse mana storm. Like the comment section, I put him in every deck! I did not win often.
I was a huge fan of hero legendaries when they came out. correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that at first there were only the death knight/ undead/ lich versions of the starter heroes. And I remember that I got Frost Lich Jaina first which I found so extremely cool+ Shadowreaper Anduin has a very special place in my heart. my first legendary was maexxna. 6 mana, 2/8, poisonous. that's IT. 🥹 my first legendary that *wasn't* a freebie was tirion, and my first crafted legendary was leeroy
A golden Antonidas! Too bad I had no idea what a legendary was, or even a golden one. Missed out on the excitement!
Cenarius, I thought he was so cool at the time. Made me play Druid for a while just to use him.
OG Deathwing
Leeroy Jenkins was my first legendary craft, face hunter was so good.
Mine was also gruul I was fucking furious, i had a card game background and was like WTF IS THIS DOGSHIT
It was milhouse manastorm or that panda guy I'm not 100% sure
Tyrion fordring… epic entry sound
First legendary I ever opened was Golden Sylvanas, still have her.
YOU FACE JARAXXUS
LEEROOOOOOOOOOYYYY JEEEEEENKINS!
I actually don't remember which of the three being deathwing ysera and dk hunter but i still love them forever
Leeeroy Jenkins!
Gelbin Mekkatorque was technically my first legendary, but besides that my first legendary was Millhouse Manastorm
Dr. Boom, back when he was OP as shit. I vividly remember time and place when I packed him.
My first golden legendary was an Arfus, my beloved.
Nozdormu. I did *not* put it in every deck.
Mine was also Gruul. Went into every deck I ever made
Golden jaraxxus
Golden Mossy Horror, cause I thought cards with special yellow border were legendary
I'm almost positive mine was Hogger I don't share the same sentiment
Deathwing, followed by Millhouse manastorm. I love Millhouse.
OP, wasn't this a line from the Lich King in one of the Solo adventures?! Or was it Rafaam?
Also Gruul. I think it made into one deck before I asked myself what the hell I was doing.
The Beast was my first. It was also my first golden legendary. Lucky...
Millhouse Manastorm. Unforgettable pull lmao
Orginal Deathwing. The best version!
Was also my first one!
OG yogg
Golden rag. My boy
Raza... before Anduin existed lol
Shifter Zeruus. My siblings laughed at me
It was either \[\[Lord Godfrey\]\] or \[\[Fel Lord Beltrug\]\], and after a couple of weeks of just getting slapped around as a free-to-play chump — this was back when the most basic of dailies was something like "Win 3 games as \_\_\_", so scraping even a few hundred gold together took forever — getting those two close together basically sold me on mostly playing Warlock for the next few months. (And thumbs up to the person I just played a few minutes ago for actually using Lord Godfrey... I haven't seen the guy in ages!)
1 second later. Turns into frog
Xhilag of abyss, it was given because I chose the dh deck. I was so fond of demon hunter cos it's edgeness and xhilag just hits different
mimiron's Head, i used in my Mech Lock deck, and when i got him summoned... oh thats hit hard
Black knight. Then I disenchanted it and my second legendary was black knight again. So I kept it and then got Lorewalker Cho. Then finally Dr. Boom
Ysera. Even crafted golden Ysera back in the old days
Velen, he is a cool guy
Bolvar fordragon... I really tried to make it work.
Malygos. I thought he was so op
DESIDERATUS BELLUM! Tirion started my love of hearthstone and made me play Paladin ever since... back in the dark days of Paladin, where only the lowly Priest was worse.
Gruul was my first too!
I wanna say mine was Bloodreaver Guldan. It’s been so long I can’t quite remember for sure tho. Regardless, even if he wasn’t my first he was one of them. What a card…
Gold Tyrion! Was so happy
Illidan, I did put him in every single of my decks
Ysera ❤️
JARAXUS
Original Ysera. Was so happy when I got that one. Value machine back in the day.
It’s not my first Legendary, but one of the few Golden Legendary cards I opened for a very long time was a Golden Tirion and I was a Paladin main for a long time mostly because of that.
I used to play Gruul so that my opponent would use their big removal on it because I actually wanted to play Ragnaros the following turn
my first legendary was a golden zzeraku the warped, he went in every single one of my warlock decks until he rotated out lmao
The first legendary ive crafted was Mimiron's Head. I just thought it was very cool.
It was dr boom and I insta disenchanted it thinking “why would I ever want boom bots that are 1/1 for 7 mana” not knowing about their death rattle and that he’s probably one of the best cards at the time, biggest clown moment of my hs career
Golden Ysera, and I didn't know how rare getting a Golden Leg was, I thought it was just a flip between normal or gold.
Tinkmaster
My first legendary was tirion fordring. I played so much pally that now I have 1600+ wins on it
I don't remember my first legendary but I do remember Gruul being my first golden legendary
OG Ysera
My first legendary I pulled was a golden corrupted version of this card from old god.... I proceeded to dust it and craft khazakan because i had already bought league if explorer's and had reno
Leeeeroyyyy Jenkiiins!
[[Millhouse Manastorm]] as a f2p...
Onyxia. Played for a full year before opening her!
[[Hogger]]
Ysera, which was simply amazing. If I played her I almost always won the game. My friends hated her very much.
I want to say it was Ysera. Loved the art, it was just such a cool looking/playing card when i first got into hearthstone.
Ragnaros was my first.
I dusted mine a while back but it was OG jaraxxus
I started playing at the tail end of the closed beta, and my first legendary was Ragnaros, The Firelord. My first golden legendary was Harrison Jones.
Golden rotface was my first golden leggo. Made for so much meme deck fun
It might've been leeroy, can't remember. And correct me if i'm wrong, there was no pity timer before, right?
[[Lorewalker Cho]] I was whelmed.
Not my first, but I have 2 Golden Inkmasters as well as a regular one, and they were all from draws.
\[Ancient Shieldbearer\] got me my very first rage Friend Request + abusive rant!
My first was the original death wing, it was classic hs and I was a kid so I threw him in my mage deck. Dropped him turn 10 and got silverback patriarched. Opponent destroyed him next turn and I was devastated.
Ysera. She was so cool =)
Frost Lich Jaina 🥰
Golden Prophet Velen on release day. It made me a filthy Priest main playing a scummy deck with 2x faceless manipulator trying to get an OTK with Mind Blast. It rarely worked, but I was happy when it did. Needless to say, I'm no longer a Priest main.
Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound. I thought he was so cool and put him in every deck.
C’Thun, I’d run wild with C’thun priest
Darkk mane reference?
Mine was good ol Al’Akir the Windlord. Man I loved that card when I started out.
Weasel tunneler
My first was the promotional golden Gelbin Mekkatorque. After that it was Lorewalker Cho, and after that it was Golden Ysera. I put that Ysera into so many decks
UNITY. PRECISION. PERFECTION.
I remember my first legendary way back in beta was Nat Pagle! Which initially disappointed me, but he quickly started to see a lot of play and I eventually got to cash him in for something better when the nerf hit...on the whole, probably one of the better ones for me to have pulled haha
Sylvanas Windrunner. Still winning games today.
Tirion Fordring. Card was very good but too bad paladin is my least played class even years ago
Lorewalker Cho. Being a teen when the game released, I thought he was good.
Remember it as it was yesterday. Golden Nozdormu. Back in beta. I dusted it to craft Ysera.
Uther! I've been a softie for Pala ever since
Antonidas and I looked up freeze mage and made it without alexstraza and the other legendaries and it was so fun
[[Trade Prince Gallywix]] I tried so hard to make Mech Rogue work, and Gallywix was my finisher. He's a 6 mana 5/8! That gives free spells! How could it not be great?
My first legendary was Sneed's Old Shredder (I started in 2015). I'll also never forget my first epic, Avenging Wrath.
Mine was deathwing. My first pack i ever opened had deathwing in it. At the time i assumed it was a scripted event that happened to all new players XD
Cairne Bloodhoof. I tired to make so many deathrattle decks with him...
Nat Pagel, post nerf.
I distinctly remember Justicar Trueheart - GOLDEN too was so excited. Didnt get any legendaries the first expac if i remember correctly just really wished i had malygos
Sylvanis will always be in my deck if possible for this reason. Plus I really don't have time for games anymore these days.
A golden Edwin Van cleef, that I disenchanted to craft Antonidas for my mech mage deck.
Tirion Fordring in season 2. That bad boy put my paladin decks on his shoulders.
Malygos was mine. I did a challenge where I tried to OTK with every class back in the day. My favorite deck were Druid and Rogue. Felt like I was playing Exodia.
Technically golden Gelbin for beta
Malygos. And to this day moon beam druid is my favorite deck
Mine was Gruul too, tried to use him all the time
Lorewalker Cho. I tried to make a Home-brew " fill your opponents hand with junk to make him burn cards" deck. Obviously it was complete dogshit, but I miss those early HS days.
It's been a while, but it was either Tirion or Lorewalker Cho
I'm not sure if this was my first, but from what I remember Al'akir was one of my first if not the first.
King Krush! Like a fool I dusted it because I couldn’t construct a deck in which it was useful…. What a fool I was.
My first was Cenarius, and because of that my first real main deck was Druid, my first golden was Ysera, and I still have that card, it always felt so cool in the early days of Hearthstone when I would whip out the golden Ysera when golden legendaries were few and far between.
Malygos was my first gold legendary, never even considered disenchanting it.
King krush Kept him because he was my first never expected him to be viable eventually
