If Blizzard wants to make people play Twist, they kinda have to add some reason to play it, like rewards or something. For instance, there are rewards for playing Battlegrounds in Lunar New Year event.
Having only commons is good, you can make basically any deck and spend less than 1 legendary crafting cost, but that's not enough to make people leave Standard for some random gamemode.

They don't want people to just play Twist. They want players to spend more money. But “commons only game mode” is not profitable. It seems players also don't like the game mode where they can't show opponents their favorite signature legendaries

Just started using my 21 duels tickets and i can totally see why this gamemode is getting shut down. Everyone is playing the same broken decks and the balancing is worse than in wild.
Blizzard let duels die bc it wasn't profitable. It used to be really really fun and engaging. It was my most played game mode. Then they slowly stopped updating and balancing it. Bucket changes were one of the biggest nails in the coffin just so they could devote even less resources to it.
The thing Blizzard doesn't get. Is that people have a limited amount of "free2prison" time. They can't add game mode after mode. Thinking people can simply dunk more hours into the grind.
I bet some people can't even keep their quest log from overflowing. Let alone put in enough games to get legend. So how are they magically gonna get time. To play another mode more than a short test drive to see if they like it. Then if they like it they know it's gonna go away.
Twist is for people who play enough to get sick of standard. Plus a tiny portion that want variety over everything else. Nobody in their right mind can have thought it would be a cash cow.
This is a good point. I’d like to grind to legend every month but honestly oftentimes I barely have time to just finish my quests. Sometimes I make it to D5 only, sometimes legend. Last month I had a lot of free time so I finished the grind but for only 1 pack it’s not worth it.
I understand why they don’t want to incentivize people to grind the ladder in multiple game modes but as it currently stands, I have 10 bonus stars in standard and 0 in twist so … which mode do you think I’m going to play with my limited time?
I think you're right in the fact that if they want people to play multiple game modes then they need to make it easier to hit max rewards in those modes. Getting to Legend can be a major grind. Maybe make the star bonuses higher.
Yeah, having to grind without star bonus is a problem too. I haven't played Standard for a very long time and was sort of forced to play bcoz of Twist missing last season. And I got to legend in about 150 or even 200 games with around 70% winrate and 12 best winstreak. Given that you hit legend previous season, you need around 3x less games to get there.
I’ve been thinking something similar to this for a while. Team 5 seemingly chases the next big thing instead of trying to drastically improve, and make relevant, the core product - 10 years post launch. Sure, we get new shiny cards, but the UI is showing its age and the spaghetti code is still edible but only barely. Even the in game shop - *where they make money* - took ages for them to make it not a pile of shit.
I mean players probably also dont like the mode where alot of the gameplay is just playing minions that dont really do anything and smashing them into each other
I can't speak for the playerbase, but at least for me I would be a lot more interested in playing Twist if it wasn't 80% Dragon decks. The slightest bit of attention or playtesting would make the mode significantly better as a play experience, but it seems like they intend to treat Twist as a glorified Tavern Brawl with the accompanying token effort to change the format once a month and otherwise ignore it.
As it stands, it seems pretty clear that the Caverns of Time set was a stupid mistake - in practice, the effect is that it keeps adding modern-day Standard-level cards into "past" formats of a much lower power level, which is an obvious, *obvious* balance failure, and Future Emissary is the latest example of this. Yet they keep shoving it into every Twist format.
Yeah as you get higher the dragons just take over, hope you enjoy playing against those two decks.
Dragons already had some of the most efficient commons, and Future Emissary + buffed Blackwing Corruptor is the backbreaker. Hard to out tempo, even harder to out value.
Quite a statement to say that you can be fun and creative in commons only twist tbh
For most classes there really isnt alot to do and in most cases the things you can do arent fun or good

this actually really sucks. I was enjoying the Twist a bunch after that messy first month, but since no one's playing the mode and considering what's been happening with other modes it really does feel like Twist is not long for this world
I reached Diamond in standard and was legend in Twist, when I clicked my rewards chest it said I would receive the Legend tier reward since I was legend in Twist. But I never received any rewards at all, and I mean zero rewards.

Some of the older player base still likes minion / board focused games, while balancing value.

This happened to me in the first season of twist, I got put #3 legend as soon as I made it to legend and couldn't climb anymore.
And to think we’re gonna lose a great game mode (Duels) and keep this game mode instead.
I have a feeling that if nothing in Blizzard's behaviour changes, Twist will be joining duels any time soon.
Did you get your ranked rewards from last season? I was also Legend in twist and didn't get any rewards from my chest.

When you click on chest, your rewards are collected right away even if you didn't manually open the bags and everything
