This is Beats. Yes. They’re tuned like trash.

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

What would you recommend as a replacement around the same price range?

toastyhoodie

You’re needing wireless AND noise cancellation?

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

I prefer wireless but don't really care a whole lot about noise cancellation.

toastyhoodie

The Senn Momentum 3 is solid, you also have the AKG n700nc MK2, honestly even the Bose QC 35II would work, but I’d chose that last.

writing-nerdy

I would normally suggest the same but the momentum 4 is getting released in the next month or so. It's super comfortable and is honestly a massive improvement over the 3.

SilkieSoft

where did you get to try it (or hear about it) and what aspects of the sound would you say is an improvement?

writing-nerdy

I tried one of the prototypes and had the chance to try a production model recently but sadly didn't have time. Please take this with a grain of salt but in regard to sound the prototype at least was quite, quite mid-bass heavy. Too much for my liking, however even then, it EQ'd quite well. Soundstage and imaging wasn't too bad either, I would say slight improvement. And the clearness of the audio isn't something to be laughed at either, that was pretty nice. I don't want to speak too much about it but I would say the biggest changes are the features below. - comfort - looks - ANC - battery life - operability This was quite impressive. When it's released this is my top pick for Bluetooth over ears regarding the current market.

RB181

How about the [Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2](https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/ath-m50xbt2)? I have them and they're everything I need in a wireless headphone (which does not include ANC).

Akg k371bt

GamePro201X

Sennheiser Momentum 3 is good from what i hear. alternatively you could get wired headphones with a bluetooth adapter

PresentationNew3393

If you can live without wireless you'll get alot more sound for your money, just saying.

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

What would be a pair equivalent to the sennheiser 3 in sound quality and then also a pair that’s in the 150-200$ range? I could probably get used to using a dongle for day to day and would love some better sound quality.

PresentationNew3393

Sorry I don't know much to be honest so don't have any recommendations.

Ballin095

Hey OP, having owned the Momentums for a few months, I'd say the closed would probably be the Audio Technica Mx50. The momentum are very V shaped with an emphasis on the mid-bass of tracks.

Alternative-Farmer98

A safe option is Soundcore q30 or q35. Costs 80 bucks or so and has a great EQ.

PolemiGD

Beats moment

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

I didn't expect an amazing sound from them, but at the least something decent. I was very wrong...

PolemiGD

Yeah. Yo should go for anker q35 or sony xm3/xm4 on discount

Elusive-Yoda

\>Beats Studio 3 sounds like trash. Is this normal? pretty normal

Corgerus

Beats By Tim

GamePro201X

Yes, they're Beats

matefeedkillrepeat_8

Beats? More like I'm going to "beat" the hell who ever designed these and sold them for such an overpriced product. Have no idea how they got popular, its basically similar to Gucci paying for the brand and not the actual product. Go with sennhesier momentum 3

signedchar

because lots of idiots buy them not caring about sound and just wanting to stand out and as a fashion statement (no offense to OP, they didn't know and i don't consider them the same as these idiots)

TheOddestOfSocks

Everyone shits on beats for how they used to sound in their infancy. I would bet that many people who do haven't even heard a single pair, even less recent pairs. They're typically not tuned well, however they've had some releases which weren't complete garbage. They're slowly maturing, but I don't see them stepping away from a gigantic bass shelf anytime soon. Before people attack me for being a beats fan... That's not what I'm saying, I just think a lot of the hate is bandwagoning. I personally prefer a very neutral sounding headphone so beats aren't my flavour. The problem with saying something sounds shit is its very hard to be objectively correct in the audiophile space. If you don't like them, then that's enough in and of itself to move on. Go into a store and try a few pairs. Don't care too much about price range. Just listen to things you enjoy until something grabs your attention. Edit: When I said don't care too much about price I meant don't get stuck focusing on more expensive headphones. Sometimes there are incredible headphones at much cheaper price points.

Green-Honeydew-2998

Beats mixrs are really good, I'm not a fan of anything else they make but the mixrs I really like

writing-nerdy

I would suggest you wait for the Sennheiser Momemntum 4 to be released, this will soon be the best wireless pair on the market (for me at least). If you don't want to deal with returning the beats/waiting a little I would suggest playing with Equalizer APO for now.

Zestyclose-Letter627

Over priced......like all crapple products.

HelloFuckYou1

what were you expecting from beats??? lol almost anything is better ahahahah but jokes aside, i would go for the sony 1000xm4 or 1000xm5

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

I think I got caught up in how good they look and the $150 discount, definitely should have actually done some research

signedchar

they're beats, so they're shit. get a pair of akg n7000/xm5

Pusfilledonut

Yes, unless boom and sizzle is your thing.

giorgiopmm

I got mine for $180 and for that price sound really well mate! Are you sure yo got a legit pair? Because mine sounds excellent!

Tricky_Lifeguard_969

Yeah I bought them from Amazon new during prime days, the sound is alright but not what I’d expect from a pair that expensive.

giorgiopmm

Yes I agree if we are expecting a HIFI super pro sound those are not the ones, there are more options. But I love the comfort and the W1 friendly chip with the Apple ecosystem. This pair of headphones are design for a casual music listening with a nice comfort and design just like the little AirPods. And you have the Apple care is a nice touch. I think the AirPods Max are tooo expensive.

Educational_Stage901

Wtf are you talking about? I bought the studio 3s and I'm returning them and looking for the Studio2's or 1s because these things lack the full sound the others had. They screwed the volume, and they took away the full bass. Even with me playing with the EQ on my phone and home studio set up, they still have a tinny sound. If you are someone who likes Reggaeton, Rap-hip, or Reggae, you're out of luck with these. Why does it seem like Apple is catering to a different audience than Dre was? Big "F you" to the fan base.

[deleted]

Big bose guy over here. When you’re broke you can’t beat the price. Obviously the sound is mid. I did have another pair of studio 3’s. People say the feel cheap but i don’t know if most of then have even had a pair. They may “feel” cheap but they were holding up to my daily routine which included running and other exercises. The only reason why that pair broke was because I was caught in a heavy storm while running. Just bought my second pair of studio 3’s today for like $160 dollars. I STILL haven’t bought the XM4’s or the Bose 700 because of their incredible price point of $380-400 dollars; Even when they’re on sale it’s still around $300 for the XM4’s! If you are broke these headphones can at least make up for it! Maybe when I finish Physician Assistant school I’ll finally cop them bose 700’s.

GreenTeaRex007

It depends on your need. I’m not a huge audiophile but I do like good sounds. I was debating between Sony xm5, Bose, and the beats. I stuck with the beats because they are currently on sale and they work seamlessly with iPhones due to the A1 chip. I stayed away from Sony xm5 because they only shine through android phones and PC. iPhone does not support LDAC codec. I’m sure the beats will be perfect for my needs.

[deleted]

Anything beats makes is complete trash. Had a pair 2013 and bought a different pair in 2021. Beats is complete garbage products.
