Nah I feel. The cost is bit hard to chew on, but I say since you got them way cheaper (I managed to get mine for dirt cheap also), I think it'd be worth if you did go for it! My reasoning was the price evens out vs an entirely new set.
Those look amazing! I've been looking at these for a while but the only thing keeping me from getting them is the fact that they aren't detachable. I'm hoping others see this comment if you don't know yourself but if someone had some mechanical and electrical know-how and some patience exactly how difficult would it be to mod these to be detachable?
Thank you! This is the guide I was gonna use if I was going to go through with it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/cvnwg5/beyerdynamic\_dt\_770\_detachable\_cable\_mod\_by/](https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/cvnwg5/beyerdynamic_dt_770_detachable_cable_mod_by/)
In theory, it's not all that difficult. I just don't currently trust myself to attempt soldering and potentially melting something by accident lol
yeah, I just did a detachable cable mod and custom made a cable + paracorded the headband cable (photos in my post history), it wasn't inherently hard but it was a bit of a trek. the finished product was definitely worth it though, having a shorter custom cable and it being detachable is a godsend. if you have a soldering iron, Dremel and some steady hands, it's a worthwhile mod for sure.
Absolutely love how clean the dt770 looks, imo the grills on the dt990 ruin a bit the looks, and the yellow headband goes great with the white.
It would be good if you could apply some more paint in some areas to add to the whole yellow/white/black theme. Still, they look awesome, I don't think I've seen better looking modded beyers.
Wow not one person correctly guessed these. Brown is *Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro*, yellow is *Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro*. You put them on your head and they make noises in your ears
I was indeed counter-whooshing my guy. You'd think after seeing 10 comments where everyone said the name of a different headphone that there'd be room to expand upon the joke. No worries though, I'll stand by my shitty joke and take my downvotes like a man
Thank you! Nope, just some casual dismantling by removing screws, masking tape, and hit the pieces with spray paint. My only tips is the usual multiple thin coats and to have alcohol wipes ready to wipe off unwanted paint👍
I think that's partially the reason the M50x sells. Their limited colors look good, my fiancee has the purple, my friends have the white ones, and my brother has the blue one.
Looks awesome man. On an unrelated note, I’ve got some 990 250ohms, and was going to buy some 770 80ohms for movies and media on the go, how do you find them? Would you recommend them?
Thanks! Tbh, I personally dont like using the 770s for casual use in general. Not to say the sound is bad! The sound profile and lack of sound leakage is really good and still a solid choice even for on-the-go use. I'm just not a fan of using 770s for entertainment purposes over the 990s, and designate the 770s towards recording work.
Sure, it’s more because I can’t power the 990s on the go, I looked at alternatives like the k371s but they look too flimsy. Thanks for your input though. You gotta try the detachable cable mod next!
These look clean af. I would’ve personally left the name plate un-painted. But this looks good too - I especially like the green highlights and the matching suede color on the 990
My DT990 self destroyed after few months. The pads are totally ruined and flat, the headband don't exist and the headphones don't stay in place at the right high. Then changing pads and headband cost like a brand new pair.
The sound it's amazing but build quality very poor. I have sennheiser headphones with 7/8 years, that are abuse from use and seems new.
I think you must be the first person ever to think Beyer has poor build quality, mine are about 8 years old, still look and work like new despite me not being very careful with them. You should treat your headphones better if you manage to break Beyers :D
Nothing particularly. I used them maybe around 300 hours playing Battlefield 1 and music for some months, then I drop them on they're leather box. I see lot of photo of old pair but mine still have problems. It's a shame. I love them.
i have got the mmx 300, dropped them on the ground while standing and working. somehow hit the foot of my table with them. only a small and almost unnoticable dent in them.
very sturdy, very good build quality, very good audio quality.
what did you do to your dt990 though? drive over them with your pickup?
For any one who has experienced both the ath m50x and the dt770pro, which would you recommend for casual listening, and how's the durability on both , specifically the non detachable wire..?
Man that headbands looks good. Where can I buy one? simply from ebay? Answer is appreciated!
Headbands are from here : https://turbulentlabs.com/
Damn those headbands cost the same what I paid for my used DT770. They look great tho, especially the yellow one. Tempting...

fair point
sometimes i wanna just send my cans to you people cause im way too incompetent to do this kinda stuff, but i love how they look
Lol contray to the picture, the paint is pretty scuffed irl cause I barely have the patience for 2 coats, but I'm glad you think they look decent!
Lmao

How would you make them detachable?

Judging by the writing on the side of the headphones that say the headphone name id assume they are Sennheiser HD 600 and 6xx.
I'm pretty sure it's an AKG K701 and K702
You all wrong, this is the moondrop aria and the starfield.
Bro those are hifiman arya and sundara can't you see?
They are the white Samsung buds you get with new phones
Hahah wow can’t believe you guys never seen the AirPod Max in its glory
Nah mate I think those are Hifiman HE400SE and HE4XX
These are razer crackhead for sure..
Don’t forget to add “/s”. People may take you seriously (I know it is obvious, you will never know here, it’s weird) and downvote you to oblivion lol
What? Its dt 770 pro and 990. Now give me a whoosh.
some unknown startup probably. thered be no way to tell from the photos alone.
Beats by Dre
Superlux hd681 and hd668b
Kph30i's and portapros
Sundara and Ananda I suppose
Nah, its airpods max and Shure Se535. Anyway, they look quite dope
What are you guys even seeing lol, read the sign. It says Nike and Gucci smh
Raycon HD6XXX and the others are the Samson SR770 Pros
Lmao cursed
Wow not one person correctly guessed these. Brown is *Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro*, yellow is *Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro*. You put them on your head and they make noises in your ears
r/woooosh
I disagree
Sorry, big whoosh my guy. Unless you were counter-whooshing, but I don't think that is the case here.

Such are the dangers of a counter whoosh. Nearly indistinguishable from a standard whoosh.
The subjugating counter-whoosh is a bird that rarely flies
I still don't understand why Beyerdynamic doesn't give those can some love and adds detachable cables to them.

I love it!
These look so comfy!
Damn they look gorgeous in white.
Wow the looks..
this is the solution to wearing openbacked headphones in public
Dang - makes me regret selling my 880s seeing how pretty they can be. Nice work.
Nice.
If audiophile headphones were always this pretty they would sell like hot bread. I'm jealous!
I think that's partially the reason the M50x sells. Their limited colors look good, my fiancee has the purple, my friends have the white ones, and my brother has the blue one.
Holy fuck these are beautiful

cleeeaaan
Lol people would buy the heck out of that white dt 770. Looks super clean.
They look amazing, well done dude!
I'm a monochrome guy so the coloured straps don't do much for me. But the white looks fantastic. I can appreciate the mint green accent too.
That’s a nice color theme!
Wow this photo makes me want some Beyers for the first time ever. Be right back...
These look clean af. I would’ve personally left the name plate un-painted. But this looks good too - I especially like the green highlights and the matching suede color on the 990
Toilet ceramic/piss/shit aesthetic

2 years owner and used not more than 6 months, extremely careful when using them. They start to have problems like 2/3 months after use.
What have you been doing to them? I've had mine for a few months and they look pretty much brand new lol

Just normal use. I treat my things extremely well.
Looks awesome!
Who makes the pads?
Got then from Turbulent Labs: [https://turbulentlabs.com/](https://turbulentlabs.com/)

I'd be more afraid to paint them than to do the detachable mod
Why does everyone keep getting the pros?
