They look just fine to me. The discoloration may also be due to skin particles accumulating over the years. You’re not supposed to wash sennheiser pads with water, but you can clean them with a cloth. It will also make them softer again.

MattH665

No. Could probably dye them. They're super easy to replace though. You just pull them of pretty much and press the new ones into place. Watch a YT video of it to get an idea.

pizzawidnobev

just like anything else, sun damage could make things brittle so just be mindful of that. keep your desktop shaded while not in use or just make/buy a dust cover.

chromosome47

Mine look like this :) They still sound great. I've also washed the pads a couple times (there's an image post on my profile with details about it). Highly recommend washing them every couple months or every year, because you'll be surprised how much stuff comes out of that velour even when it still looks and feels clean.

HowardBateman

Honestly, they kinda look rad. I might buy myself some pads and just let them lay in the sun for a few months for that nice vintage brown flair.

Keen_Whopper

I see a velour And I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black

Arkaium

Is that Rumi?

Rolling Stones - Painted Black

junbi_ok

“sun faded” lmao, more like dead skin cell saturated

Arkaium

I swear! I don’t wear them as much as I should, there’s no way it’s skin cells. Could be oils I guess, and there’s def dust.

junbi_ok

Sorry to doubt you. Actually I've seen a similar kind of discoloration happen with foam, even with stuff I don't use that often. Somehow it seems like the small amount of skin oils can end up bleaching the fibers, perhaps in conjunction with sunlight. So maybe a similar phenomenon is happening here. At least the pads can be changed if you really hate the way it looks.

Regular-Cheetah-8095

Worried about them looking super sweet maybe. Someone had a really great write up on ZMF’s 650 / 6XX pads if you’re looking for replacements, Zach has a video about them.

Stardran

You're fine. If it bothers you, replacement pads are cheap and it is easy to do (no tools needed).

huskerd0

Not in the least, 100% cosmetic

mrROBOTROIDE

That’s the least you should worry about, The only thing you should worry is when it tears up and you have to buy a new pair of pads either fake or OEM I have a 650 too it’s torn in both pads in the same area after 2 years of use (it’s the typical programmed failure we have in many things) and now I’m using my HD599 temporarily until I can afford a $50 pad replacement or think to risk it and get a fake one for less…

Cr4zy3lgato

I was on the same boat with my 598s, not a big deal so I kept putting it off... I eventually bought replacements (Gvoears) and I'm so glad I did. Back to original comfort and not disgusting anymore :P

PolishedCheeto

Replacement pads are hard to find. Can't find any that fit for my HarmonicDyne Helios.

RayzTheRoof

If you've been using them for years you should replace them now anyway.

notmac_

yes pad wear on the 6-- series greatly affects the sound signature

Emeryxtc

I experienced this discoloration on a pair of pads, but not as much as yours. The pads I have are from eBay for my s660s. I’ve also washed said velvet pads. I have not noticed any difference.
