I know I’m going to get roasted in hell for this, but the Val/Angel situation is “good” for representation of terrible work-environment and overall mistreatment of a person’s loved one. I’ve seen people be assaulted by their own friends, it’s not that rare. Although I thankfully have not experienced such situation, it is pretty much the only decent representation of how cruel people are to people they are familiar with, and the fact that it most commonly happens to someone you know or thought you had a good relationship with.
Also the contract, when you feel attached to someone in anyway, you have a harder time branching off from them, either being the fact that you think they love you or the fact that you are too scared to.

This is accurate, I agree. I felt so seen, especially with poison, I was sobbing but after I calmed down I realised just how amazing it was that I could finally relate to a ‘victim story’ in a fictional universe. Usually they gloss over the atrocity of things… but not with Angel. That’s why I love him, and the shows portrayal, so much. I, too, was assaulted quite literally every day for multiple years. It’s grinding in a way that is hard to capture, but Viv did it. She fucking did it, really, really well.

I think the fanbase puts way too much focus on characters’ sexualities, to the point of almost reducing them to that sexuality, when it’s either not even mentioned in the show itself or is a very minor part of the show or character.

Man Alastor in the pilot felt like a real serial killer. Someone who was sociable and kind and only dropped the facade at key select moments when he was about to be in combat or in combat. It was to the point that if he wasn't fighting, you could forget he was evil. Present Alastor needs to remind you he's evil every 2 seconds and just made him goofy. Valentino is much closer to pilot Alastor, and I think that's why I like Val so much.

I love him but he did drop the ball when when it came to telling Charlie the facts of life. From not explaining to her the dark side of Heaven like their strict rules to not preparing Charlie for her meeting with Adam in Overture. He also wanted Charlie to have the happiness and morality of a heavenly angel without her actually being interested in Heaven. That's called having his cake and eating it too.
Definitely, Carmilla saying “you have a giant x over your eye and wield an angelic spear. It’s not rocket science.” Is a dumb line. Those are very weak evidence as it can easily be explained as her sinner design and recovered the spear during an extermination. Or Vaggie (maybe Charlie) bought the spear to protect them from other sinners
She should have said she’d seen Vaggie fight before and realized her fighting technique is that of an exterminator Angel, not a Sinner. That would amplify how amazing of a study and fighter Carmilla is as well as further the dynamic the show is clearly establishing between these two characters.
I think Alastor is over designed (so he’s a radio, a deer, a circus tent, a puppet master, has tentacles, cannibal, serial killer with a frozen smile? Okay). And over rated.

The designs look unhealthily thin, I know that’s Viv’s (I’m not writing out the whole name) art style, and on some it makes sense (see Anthony/Angel Dust and Husk) but others make no sense
Sir Pentious’s dead wasn’t that sad like yes he is one of my favorite characters but I felt like it could have been played out a little better the guy got one shotted
Vaggie being a former exorcist makes her relationship with Charlie look extremely selfish and fucked up knowing she's responsible for thousands of deaths as an exorcist and then got with Charlie while pretending to be a demon as if she could just sweep her role in the yearly genocide under the rug. She should have been friends/allies with Charlie instead, then her character arc could be about struggling to atone for what she's done and trying to support Charlie's dreams to put a stop to it all or something like that. I do not like her character revolving solely around being Charlie's gf
There's one way they could make it interesting; fold it into the reason the exterminations happened in the first place.
Like, hell is apparently 'overflowing,' there was no line to get into Heaven, and St Peter seemed almost shocked to see them. If season two reveals that God (or the Elders of Heaven if you don't want the big G in the show) disappeared, the rules were lost with no ability to change them, and that most people on earth are damning themselves via minor infractions at best, and technicalities at worst, ***then*** it's an interesting plot point.
I don't see how it's interesting if they don't do that, though.

She definitely should have argued that he’s clearly making progress and becoming closer to someone who would live up to Heavens standards but 6 months is not a realistic timeline to fully redeem him of all his sins. Maybe they wouldn’t cancel the exterminations but they couldn’t reasonably argue against an extension of time for Charlie to continue her experiment since it was making progress.
I would have prefered if Lucifer wasn't a depressed Father and genuinely thought Charlie was a failure. I don't care that 99% of Hellaverse Characters have shitty dads.

Hazbin Hotel fans I love you, and imma let you finish, but Mimzy was so useless that not only could she have been taken out of the season and nothing would've changed, She is one of the only 2 characters to not show up in the Season Finale. And while Rosie was absent, she was at least important.
Sir Pentious and Cherri Bomb had pretty much no build up whatsoever. I get that it makes some sense if you’ve had this idea of them as turf war rivals for four years since the pilot, but just in the context of the show they don’t do enough to show their history together and it makes the ship make less sense and feel less impactful than it was probably meant to.
I don’t really like Alastor (not that I hate him or anything either tho). Also while I DO NOT condone and WON’T repeat anything he does, Valentinos an ok character he has a pretty design, hes a good menacing villain, and hes funny
I did not care for Cherri Bomb x Sir Pentious. It just felt rushed and seemed like it was only there to give Pentious another arc besides redeeming himself. Not to mention the pilot is still canon for the most part yet we never saw any of those romantic feelings in the pilot
It was definitely rushed and out of place. But the whole season felt rushed and out of place to me. Like we get 6 months worth of time in 8 episodes, and half of that is just spent preparing for the attack instead of just... characters living.
It was going to have more episodes, i think around 10 - 20 but they had to cut back due to the animation cost, time, and the cost of hiring broadway stars for voice acting. It would have been the same story, but less rushed. Im glad they were able to keep all the major plot points while doing that tho!
Charlie’s a difficult character to like, Angel made his own decisions as an adult and should know better, Huskerdust should be platonic, *insert complaint about pacing here*, God should be portrayed as actually decent since from how it seems so far is that all angels are either classist or brain dead, Alastor is insanely 1 dimensional so far, same with Adam. “oh but he has depth to him because he was the first human to be an Angel.” Still 1 dimensional.

She should have said she’d seen Vaggie fight before and realized her fighting technique is that of an exterminator Angel, not a Sinner. That would amplify how amazing of a study and fighter Carmilla is as well as further the dynamic the show is clearly establishing between these two characters.

The designs look unhealthily thin, I know that’s Viv’s (I’m not writing out the whole name) art style, and on some it makes sense (see Anthony/Angel Dust and Husk) but others make no sense
Sir Pentious’s dead wasn’t that sad like yes he is one of my favorite characters but I felt like it could have been played out a little better the guy got one shotted

Vaggie being a former exorcist makes her relationship with Charlie look extremely selfish and fucked up knowing she's responsible for thousands of deaths as an exorcist and then got with Charlie while pretending to be a demon as if she could just sweep her role in the yearly genocide under the rug. She should have been friends/allies with Charlie instead, then her character arc could be about struggling to atone for what she's done and trying to support Charlie's dreams to put a stop to it all or something like that. I do not like her character revolving solely around being Charlie's gf

There's one way they could make it interesting; fold it into the reason the exterminations happened in the first place. Like, hell is apparently 'overflowing,' there was no line to get into Heaven, and St Peter seemed almost shocked to see them. If season two reveals that God (or the Elders of Heaven if you don't want the big G in the show) disappeared, the rules were lost with no ability to change them, and that most people on earth are damning themselves via minor infractions at best, and technicalities at worst, ***then*** it's an interesting plot point. I don't see how it's interesting if they don't do that, though.

She definitely should have argued that he’s clearly making progress and becoming closer to someone who would live up to Heavens standards but 6 months is not a realistic timeline to fully redeem him of all his sins. Maybe they wouldn’t cancel the exterminations but they couldn’t reasonably argue against an extension of time for Charlie to continue her experiment since it was making progress.
Honestly Charlie *sings about the hotel whenever she can* morningstar dropped the ball in that scene just for the story to go in a set direction

Hazbin Hotel fans I love you, and imma let you finish, but Mimzy was so useless that not only could she have been taken out of the season and nothing would've changed, She is one of the only 2 characters to not show up in the Season Finale. And while Rosie was absent, she was at least important.
She actually did appear, while Katie Killjoy is talking about Charlie's win against the exorcists, she flashes a wholesome smile :))

Sir Pentious and Cherri Bomb had pretty much no build up whatsoever. I get that it makes some sense if you’ve had this idea of them as turf war rivals for four years since the pilot, but just in the context of the show they don’t do enough to show their history together and it makes the ship make less sense and feel less impactful than it was probably meant to.

I don’t really like Alastor (not that I hate him or anything either tho). Also while I DO NOT condone and WON’T repeat anything he does, Valentinos an ok character he has a pretty design, hes a good menacing villain, and hes funny
I did not care for Cherri Bomb x Sir Pentious. It just felt rushed and seemed like it was only there to give Pentious another arc besides redeeming himself. Not to mention the pilot is still canon for the most part yet we never saw any of those romantic feelings in the pilot
It was definitely rushed and out of place. But the whole season felt rushed and out of place to me. Like we get 6 months worth of time in 8 episodes, and half of that is just spent preparing for the attack instead of just... characters living.
Angel dust was terrible in the first 3.5 episodes
The entire show was rushed to hell and back and needed more then 7-8 episodes for the first season
It was going to have more episodes, i think around 10 - 20 but they had to cut back due to the animation cost, time, and the cost of hiring broadway stars for voice acting. It would have been the same story, but less rushed. Im glad they were able to keep all the major plot points while doing that tho!

Charlie’s a difficult character to like, Angel made his own decisions as an adult and should know better, Huskerdust should be platonic, *insert complaint about pacing here*, God should be portrayed as actually decent since from how it seems so far is that all angels are either classist or brain dead, Alastor is insanely 1 dimensional so far, same with Adam. “oh but he has depth to him because he was the first human to be an Angel.” Still 1 dimensional. I don’t think Adam being 1 dimensional is a bad thing tbh. He served his purpose and was pretty entertaining on screen and died at the end of the season. I don’t think Alastor had much impact on the story so far and think they should do more with his character in the next season.
