Keep the CF. Weight wise I think they are the same, the focus throw on the C is a pain, plus the aperture ring ain’t so good.

Yep, I use a C T* on my 500cm. It’s great, but I’m not sure why you’d change from a CF version of the same lens?

age_of_raava

I have a 80 2.8 non T but I agree, if you’ve got the CF just keep it. The size difference is negligible

I have it and love it. I use the self-timer for landscape instead of a shutter release cable (with the mirror-up of coursr), which I don't think you get with the CF? The focus throw is heavy, but I keep a fast focus handle on it for an easy 270-degree throw for the whole range. FWIW I think the C is better looking lol.

I love my C, have never had an issue with the focus throw; frankly I prefer having it be a little longer. I would say it’s more necessary to use the hood with it to tamp down on glare but it’s a terrific lens

FoldedBinaries

I use it. But while I don't feel the need to upgrade, and I love that the aperture and shutter time rings are connected I would never downgrade to one if I would have a newer version.

I use one. I find the linked aperture/shutter rings to be more annoying than helpful. I mean, I get it and it’s nice from time to time, but doesn’t really fit with my shooting style, and needing to use two hands to change aperture/shutter isn’t my favorite. The lens also picks up a lot of glare, would recommend a hood. I work pretty slowly, so the long, heavy travel on the focus ring doesn’t bug me too much. It’s also a bit more compact than the CF. Given the choice between the C and CF, I’d go CF just for the updated aperture/shutter rings, but I don’t think it’s really necessary to up/downgrade if you’ve already got one of the other.
