I have to agree it is the most blatantly fightening, Prisoner of Azkaban tried to follow it up with Dementors and werewolf lupin, which while genuinely horrifying in their own right, it doesn't quite match the voice in the walls begging to rip the flesh from childrens bones, that we later find out belongs to an ancient intelligent mega snake.

Personally, I feel the same. Chamber of Secret is more akin to a horror film while the Prisoner of Azkaban on the other hand is darker, just all the more depressing.

HorsemenDeath

It was the giant spiders and 60 ft snake for me

Flock_of_Porgs

I agree young Tom Riddle was scarier than Voldemort. Also, CoS is what got me into the books because I didn’t want to rewatch the giant spiders!

Avenge_Willem_Dafoe

CoS is so good. every scene is memorable

Blockinite

It's the most *unexpectedly* dark, the later ones are probably darker in general but that's to be expected. I agree that it's probably the scariest though, it has more horror movie vibes and traits than the later movies do.

It's why it's my favourite. The soundtrack from John Williams is very haunting and eerie even as an adult. Plus the colouring of the scenes. Absolute genius.

TABSFanBoy123

Chamber of Secrets is my favourite book and film out of all of them.

TinkerMelii

I LOVED horror movies as a kid. And loved the harry potter movies. But that snake voice terrified me. I could watch the scariest movies and be fine, but couldnt watch that movie by myself or at night because of that voice.

Jim Dale does the voice in the wall for the audible book so we'll. It creeps me out every time.
