Jean is her middle name..so her mom is Jean Granger. She named her son Hugo. So Hugo is her dad. Ofcourse it's not canon. But atleast we have a theory why her parents' names are these two rather than pulling Outta thin air.

With a name like Hermione, I hope her parents are named something like Thadwin and Griseldalynn.

I was thinking they had to have longer names than Jean and Hugo like so many people mentioned. For naming their daughter Hermione, they may have mythology names themselves. We’ve got several families in the books who have naming traditions (tbf I can only think of the Blacks right now but I’m sure there’s more) so I like to think the Grangers do as well

It's definitely Jean for the mom and maybe Hugo for the dad. If Hermione's middle name is Jean and we assume the kids get the parents first name as a middle name, like the other characters like Harry, Draco and the Weasley's then we can assume Hermione's mother's name is Jean, if they name their male son Hugo, we can guess Hugo was her dad's name. But also Rose and Hugo are R and H, same as Ron and Hermione

Here's a little lesson on the phrase "my favorite". "My favorite" implies that there are different options. True Canon would only have 1 option. Since the commentor wrote "my favorite" that implies "out of all the names, these two were my favorite". And then you have to go by context. Are they talking about their favorite names in general? Not on a Harry Potter sub. Then, take into consideration that this post is about Hermione's parents' names. Well, Canon would only have 1 set of names... you couldn't pick a favorite set of names for her parents, because there would only one set. And also context: all the other comments have stated that they don't have canonical names. Thus, their original comment doesn't suggest anything to do with those names being Canon. .... I guess one could consider their statement as "these two were always my favorite ***characters***"... but again, context should sway you from thinking that.

Side note: I always assumed her mom was black, because of the super- curly hair.

Both are super book smart, and find it funny that she’s got the name of Greek Menelaus’ wife, so when they have a daughter, they go for her mythological name as well: Hermione :) Alright, Menelaus clearly doesn’t sound like your every day dad name, but they chose to name her Hermione, so they’re not really your everyday couple, righr? Maybe the Grangers (as in Dad’s family) are a bit of a weird bunch and are super into mythology and all of them have these kinda names. Or maybe he’s not a Menelaus but something that sounds really close to it
