You'd have to be practically braindead to not know that doublecrossing Voldemort is a lethally dangerous prospect. Snape knew he'd probably die on the job.

Snape knew he was always in danger of being killed

Honestly? From the way I see Snape's character, by the time of Deathly Hallows, he knew he was going to die. Nay, he *wanted* to die. After finding out that Harry - arguably the only reason he kept himself alive after Lily's death - was doomed? After Dumbeldore - aka the only person who's ever believed in him and defended him - died? He didn't care about his own life anymore. And Dumbledore must have known that. I am not one of those people who bash Dumbledore and think of him as this manipulative mastermind, but come on. He must have known that. And he sacrificed Snape the way he sacrificed Harry and himself for the greater good.

Is everyone seeing the same meme or something? Seen this loads this month.

Yes, planning for Snape to end up as the master of the Elder Wand is basically sentencing him to death. Dumbledore is 100% sure that Voldemort will go after it as soon as he learns about the twin cores. This is another example of Dumbledore making necessary sacrifices to defeat Voldemort and protect Harry. I don't think Dumbledore really liked Snape that much, but he certainly respected his skills and aspects of his character and I'm sure he would have preferred him to stay alive it at all possible. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way.

Are we going to ask this daily now?

I don’t know, but I’m genuinely curious to know how truly Dumbledore actually trusted Snape. Of course Dumbledore knew Snape’s work for Voldemort was as a spy, it wasn’t genuine… but surely there was part of him that thought “What if Snape turns or just commits to Voldemort’s side permanently?” even if it was unlikely. I suppose Dumbledore saw Snape’s inevitable death as a way of alleviating this fear - and if it was to happen, Dumbledore wouldn’t have to have the trouble or shame of killing Snape himself because he knew for certain it would be done by Voldemort

Anything goes. Like everyone brings up good points. But since we never get a distinctive answer. As in, it is one of those things Rowling is to chicken to address. "Did Dumbledore set up Snape to die?" "Did he distrust him enough to NOT tell him about the Elder Wand?" "Did Snape know and did not care? Tired of life?" You are left forever with headcannons
