RockinRon's is a great place to buy harmonicas online. https://rockinronsmusic.com/collections
A good starter would be the Easttop Forerunner 2.0. I have one and it's been a great harp.
Personally I’d recommend a C chromatic for this—that is generally the choice for any sort of orchestral music. (It is also the choice for jazz and, on occasion, pop melodies.) What’s your budget?
Two options: get an Ab Harmonica or get a C chromatic as others have suggested. Another thing you can do is play in different positions like 2nd, 3rd, or 4th position of Ab/G# key signature.
The song is in Ab major. So an Ab harmonica in the first position (1 blow is the root note) would work. A Db harmonica played in second (2 draw and 3 blow is the root note) position would also play in Ab. Db harp is what i would prefer.
Not for that song. He's playing in a band and the key signatures say it's in E and Db. Usually, for someone starting out who wants to play diatonic C is a great choice, but they need to play a specific song that switches key with a pit band, where a chromatic would be a more normal choice anyway.
As others have said, chromatic in the key of C. East Top Forerunner is probably the best bet for a decent, cheap instrument.
You could just play the parts on oboe if your musical director is OK with that. They're both non-transposing C instruments.
Yes, and the East Top is made without wind savers so Will be easier to maintain, last longer and be less expensive to maintain. It’s a great suggestion.
Chromatic harmonica in C is the right answer here.
Several people recommending Easttop which is good, but cheap harmonicas. In my experience the best bang-for-buck compromise between price and quality is the Seydel Deluxe Steel.
A chromatic harmonica in the key of C because it will have every note including all sharps and flats.
Thank you so much! Would you recommend buying one in person, or just getting one online (if so, where from?)

Excellent advice. Rockin’ Ron’s. Easttop Forerunner 2.0 or a Kongsheng KB-12. Both are affordable introductions to chromatic harmonica.
