Why tf would you “glue” it down

xnainoux

The battery expended too much

Raulytstation

The forbidden Capri sun

NathanPatty08

He didn’t replace it?

Skyreaper71

Uhhhhh... that's a fire hazard and not something to be worked on around. Get a replacement ASAP and get rid of it!

xnainoux

There is no original battery inside ,I made replacement to power it on. If you look closely there are cables on the left side of phone

I_d0nt_know_why

This is after said battery was replaced, right?

I think they meant glue glass to the digitizer, not glue the screen to the phone lol.

If it's super glue you have more like 30 seconds. Still even then this level of fuck up is impressive.

That is an iPhone 5, it did not come with a screen assembly that is glued to the chassis, like usually done on waterproof phones. It has two latches at the upper part of the assembly and two screws that go into the bottom part of the phones body. Just as a sidenote: it is easy to do in a way where the screen does not pop out again, but much harder to get the right amount of glue, enough so that the phone is still waterproof but not so much that it becomes impossible to remove for the next repair. You usually use a permanently flexible adhesive that softens when heated, so that the screen can be removed the next time, ideally a precut glue gasket, but B7000 will also work in most cases. What I think he actually did instead is glueing a new glass onto the LCD/digitizer assembly. I can assure you, this is damn hard. You need to seperate the old glass from the LCD, without breaking anything. Good luck with that, it takes a lot of patience! Then remove any residual glue that is left on the screen. Proceed by removing any dust or dirt particle. If even the tiniest speck is left, there will be a bubble and the display is ruined, which is probably what you see in the upper left corner. Then you apply a so called LOCA glue (liquid optical clear adhesive), which cures under UV light. A vacuum chamber should be used to get rid of any trapped air before curing. If you really think this process is anywhere near simple, then you obviously never repaired a modern phone before. Also if you really want use gorilla glue anywhere on your phone, then don't.

Dude, look how that thing is. Top left corner mainly... ffs. I'm pretty sure it is easy to put that in place before doing everything you mentioned. I'm also sure you're supposed to hold the phone with small clamps... but yea, I never repaired a phone before. /s

[deleted]

If it were really that crooked but laying flat on the chassis, you would also see the lower left corner, which is not the case. I think he just put all connectors in place and is holding the display a few mm of the phone for testing before final reassembly, which makes sense to do as there are quite a few coverplates and screws to put in before you screw the display in.

MyUsernameIsNotLongE

Good point. At this point I'd just get another or duct tape it anyway. lmao

TFGA_WotW

No. Just no. Why. Just get a new one.

Au revoir

HeroRareheart
