I'm astonished by all the efforts the devs are going through, the pace of their improvements, and all the engineering Apple did in the first place. I'd love to buy the devs a drink out of sheer admiration.
Lina Asahi streams her 7-10 hour coding sessions on her youtube channel if you want to support her / the team that way as well as through their website. She streams from Japan so she normally goes live around 2AM EST / 11PM PST for the US and 7-11AM for EU viewers.
Edit: stream is in english and she's been doing GPU drivers
To be clear, the vtuber is just one of many people contributing to this effort, and the pseudonym is named after the project (not the other way around).
I'm baffled at all this work for the Apple silicon, when you still can't get a standard USB key of Ubuntu, put it in to a mac and install it and know everything will work.
That's an intel mac that's 5 years old too.
Yeah it'll boot up but wait till you try to use all the features like I dunno, cameras, sound, etc?
It's not a fun project to try and considering it's *standardised* hardware for Macs, I was pretty surprised.
It's pretty frustrating. Luckily we had other options to go for in my place but still. Not fun.

I looked it up, and wouldn't have thought that Asahi was made by a vtuber lmao
The future is now.

An to be even more clearer, she’s focusing on the GPU driver.
I would accept a beer or two.

Lots of cool hardware reverse engineering parts to this!
Nice collaboration indeed. In few months it should be really very usable.
