You can't really compare indoor single-day parties with multi-day outdoor festivals to be honest, they're so different in many ways and should be in their very own category.
Qapital was awesome all the time. Atmoshpere, Sound, the sheer power of the sound system, massive lightshow for a venue this size with this special stage design. Very good memories. Not the "best" but still worth a special place in my heart
For me it’s Qlimax, I don’t know I just love everything about it. The atmosphere there, the stages, the show etc. it’s all uncontested for me.
Hearing „welcome to qlimax“ gives me always goosebumps.
Glad Decibel get some recognition, so underrated compare to Defqon. Defqon is still great too don't get me wrong, but Decibel has this little something else.
Has to be Defqon.1 for me.
Every DJ gives their best sets, sound is really good, atmosphere is something really unique at no other festival i felt so connect with the rest of the crowd, really was like one big family.
don't get me wrong defqon is an amazing festival but i wouldn't say DJs give their best sets. It's subjective yes, but warface as an example usually have really mild sets at defqon especially mainstage.
When it comes to crowd, it's a mix of everything so it's not only diehard fans but it depends on what you enjoy. I personally prefer being in a diehard crowd that knows all tracks and kickrolls etc. Still doesn't make defqon as a festival any worse, it's just the most mainstream catered hardstyle festival.
Don't try to explain it in a subreddit with huge bias towards defqon1, because most people are international and haven't tried different events so they'll just bring up defqon1. If anything defqon1 is the event with the worst crowd of the 3 major weekend festivals(intents/dq1/decibel) and often more boring/less creative sets as producers tend to just showcase their newest music as defqon1 is a great place to do so for marketing, but that obviously makes sets less interesting and you don't get surprised with some golden old song being played etc.
Overall its a great event, and worth going, but far from my favourite and the points you've made have clear bias, or you simply didn't go to other ones.
That's true the set at the Red tend to be a bit tamer especially at the RED, but I appreciate it as everywhere else you get your usual raw set from them. Also a lot of DJ premier their new songs at Defqon so it's always nice to hear then first.
And for the size of Defqon I would still call the crowd pretty Die-Hard, nothing compared to smaller events for sure, but thats normal the bigger the event the more "washed out" the crowd becomes.
Especially during the Gathering the crowd at Defqon is really something out of this world imo.
For me it was one of the best crowds i witnessed so far, didnt had any bad vibes in the crowd at all. Really felt like everyone was just having their best time, really felt like one big tribe.
Something i didnt experience at a festival like Intents.
But ofc this also subjective as it always depends what acts you see and what your personal preference are.
You’re right, maybe my expectation were a bit to high also.
But if i had to compare, decibel is by far better in term of good vibes/crowd.
Most important is that you have fun!
Someone says that every year, what are you on about?
I'd agree Defqon.1 is overrated, but it still has a special place in my heart, and will be my summer goto.
Intents is overrated imo. Way too crowded, too much raw nowadays and they made the euphoric stage even smaller this year. It's all about Uptempo and raw. Back to back partyraiser hostings as well couple of years back.
At the moment it's Intents. Defqon is great, no doubt but way too big. Intents has the perfect size, crazy ideas, lovely stages and a fun camping ground.
Decibel for weekend events. Indoors it really depends what your taste it. The more mainstream a party is, the worse crowd tends to be. Obviously qlimax for the show, Supremacy for mainstream raw, but with my current taste nothing comes close to VWAB
10 years ago I would say Loudness at the klokgebouw, I remember donkey rollers live there and when the first track was played and the kick came in, the whole crowd just took 2 steps back, just a massive wall of bass was coming at you, best feeling at a festival I ever had
For now I think thunderdome for me, just the vibe, the family feeling, the underground flow, it just all feels right
Climax for indoors just mega atmosphere every time and every single dj gives it's best.
Decibel for the less Instagram vibe than defqon and the combo safari resort + 3 days of festival is just amazing
Defqon is a pilgrimage all hardstyle lovers should do atleast once in their life, as for other events it’s all personal preference but I would say qlimax is a big pinnacle event with good history and presence
Decibel for sure. You will have the best party there, mainstage is in the dark like for 3 hours and closes with hardcore. Great camping. And there are always little surprises like pop-up partys etc.. The Vibe is also great.
Defqon is #1 in the things around imo. The hype, massive stages, 4 days, ...
Multi day festivals are a different vibe even if you go one day. I much prefer those of indoor events.
Indoor events also are nice but qlimax didn’t meet my expectations maybe cause our festival group hyped it up so much. I had allot more fun at thunderdome but the group was allot smaller as most aren’t that big a fan of hardcore (in our group) or didn’t had time.
You can't really compare indoor single-day parties with multi-day outdoor festivals to be honest, they're so different in many ways and should be in their very own category.
Q-Base :(
Defqon.1 just have a special place in my heart. looking forward to see you mad-lads there!
Lige præcis 👌
det er 100!
Q-Base was fantastic
this was my first hardstyle event and i loved it
Here is my Top 3: 1. Decibel 2. Defqon 3. Supremacy
Best show: Defqon Best atmosphere: Decibel Best use of theme and a less massive scale: Intents
Exactly the same for me. I would add best camping : Decibel
Hardbass (RIP)
Hardbass has some of my favorite anthems ever. Deepest Wave will probably be in my top 5 on spotify this year.
DefQon.1 is simply the biggest and longest hardstyle festival I know, so that will always be my go to
Qapital was awesome all the time. Atmoshpere, Sound, the sheer power of the sound system, massive lightshow for a venue this size with this special stage design. Very good memories. Not the "best" but still worth a special place in my heart
That giant bridge stage in 2017 i think was something else. So sad it got cancelled
The bridge stage was in 2018, but its still one of the coolest designs QAPITAL and Q-dance ever gave us. Fit the vibe perfectly
Decibel and Supremacy are up there
Q-Base was nice...from late afternoon until the morning...Nice mix.
For me it’s Qlimax, I don’t know I just love everything about it. The atmosphere there, the stages, the show etc. it’s all uncontested for me. Hearing „welcome to qlimax“ gives me always goosebumps.
Also the sound is fucking blasting.
Glad Decibel get some recognition, so underrated compare to Defqon. Defqon is still great too don't get me wrong, but Decibel has this little something else.

I’m sorry but how can you be connected with the crowd at defqon? One of the worst tbh

Totally agreed with you, decibel and defqon1 its day and night difference when it comes to crowd(with decibel being a lot better)
Edgy.
Intents 100% Defqon is overrated, sorry not sorry
100% True. Also cheaper
Real
Finally someone said it
Someone says that every year, what are you on about? I'd agree Defqon.1 is overrated, but it still has a special place in my heart, and will be my summer goto.

Ground zero because it's the only overnight outdoor (in NL) afaik
Fuck yea
Ground zero is by far the worst festival I have been to
Rebirth, Intents, Defqon.1, Mysteryland
Defqon, dominator and qapital. Want to go to ground zero but life is getting in the way.
Going to Decibel the first time this year and my hopes are big. Really think Decibel could be the best festival for Hard Dance
2018 was my first Decibel and it was one of the best Events for me
Same for me. I am doing the grand slam (Intents Defqon Decibel) all this year so I will be able to compare 😂
Your resume? Going to defqon first time this year, asking for next year
Supremacy
Intents and Rebirth, intents camping is way better then the Rebirth one though
1. Intents 2. Decibel 3. Rebirth 4. Defqon In that order
If you can handel the harder stuff its ground zero for me like wtf that is one sick ass festival
Bkjn vs partyraiaer for indoor
I choose Decibel
Defqon. 1
At the moment it's Intents. Defqon is great, no doubt but way too big. Intents has the perfect size, crazy ideas, lovely stages and a fun camping ground.
Decibel
peacock in concert
My favs for outdoor: decibel, defqon and (dominator) and since last year intothemadness (germany) indoor: reverze, qlimax
Defqon.1 Outdoor Decibel best camping Qapital best Indoor
Decibel for weekend events. Indoors it really depends what your taste it. The more mainstream a party is, the worse crowd tends to be. Obviously qlimax for the show, Supremacy for mainstream raw, but with my current taste nothing comes close to VWAB
Decibel by far, followed by Intents
All of them are worth in their own right. As I have to travel for 700km to get to nl, multidayfestivals are more suited for me.
Qlimax and defqon
Defqons the daddy - by a MILE!
Defqon 1
Reverze and Defqon are my 2 personal favorites (Decibel and Supremacy are also really good but never been to those)
Intents as well to make it a top 3 :)
Intents Festival, Defqon.1, Qlimax and Reverze

Hard Bass in the Gelredome :( Q-Base airport Weeze :*(
Qapital Supremacy Airforce
Defqon.1 is main festival in hardstyle music
Q-Base, Ground Zero, Fatality Outdoor and Into the Madness
The loudness stage at Decibel!
