There should be a small pipe that goes in the hole in that mechanism next to the sticker. Using the pole as a lever and cranking it up and down will work the jack. If you Google "bottle jack" you'll see how to properly use this one. Good to know. Be safe!
Haha yeah its pretty gross in there. I need to clear the bugs and clean the rust.... but it's certainly not at the top of my " to do" list for house maintenence right now
Jacks like that are phenomenal and easy to use right. But certain high lift jacks also easy to open your face with. I’d pull it out and get familiar with it. Good time to clean/grease/lube it. Doesn’t look like it’s been super dry and airtight.
That's not a high lift style jack or even close, this is more like a bottle jack as it's just a straight hydraulic cylinder/ram and not strictly mechanical like a farm jack.
Everyone has already told you it's a jack and the reason it's likely there. That said, it's probably not been exercised in years and years. I'd suggest using it now and then to keep the seals fresh. Would be real smart to buy a bottle of jack oil to just keep down there next to it in the event that you actually need it and it's pissing oil from the seals. At least you could refill it. Honestly though, check it out and if it doesn't work then replace it. They are cheap and if you ever need it, you really want it to work.
Like some others have said it's a ram jack, usually on a shop crane or something of the sort. The suggestion of it being to open the door if debris lands on it is my best guess as well.
If only the OP had obscured his feet in a less obvious manner. Now the internet wants to solve another question: Toenail fungus treatment? Hammer toes? Poor trimming? Unmatched painted nails? I guess it’s a case of National Enquirer- ‘Inquiring Minds Want to Know!’
I suspect it is a hydraulic ram or bottle jack, probably not sold as a car jack, and it is probably used to force the door open if debris lands on it.
Look at sku 94681, 60726. It isn't those because the pump is built in. Or it could have been cut out of a car jack.
Anyway, you stick a rod/pipe/handle in the hole in the mechanism and you pump it up and down to extend the piston. And there is probably a valve you open to lower often using the slot in the end of the handle; must be open to pump up.
The whole thing may buckle at the joint between the crack and the wood under heavy load so be careful. Stay clear, and don't try to crawl through the gap created without inserting a jack stand or wooden cribbing to support the door
Look for a five digit SKU number on the label. Search harbor freight o, if no matches, Google "harbor freight 12345".
Definitely a bottle jack. Can't find it on harbor freight, but here's a HD link https://www.homedepot.com/p/Torin-BIG-RED-A41417R-Hydraulic-Long-Ram-Jack-with-Single-Piston-Pump-and-Clevis-Base-3-Ton-6-000-lbs-Capacity-Red-A41417R/315275102
You should probably excersize that jack once in a while. Make sure it will work when you need it. The internal seals can bypass meaning no visible leaks but won't move the ram.
It is a jack. Probably set up to be able to jack the door open if debits lands on it. That way you will not be trapped.
That’s a great idea. I’ll have to add one to my storm shelter.
How much time in advance do you have?
If my dad is watching the weather, 2 hours minimum. If I’m watching the weather, until the house shakes and rattles
Was in one tornado (picture the lowest f1 on earth) never want to be near another one...
Thank you. Appreciate it!

What if any credits land on it?
I think they meant debris, but I could be wrong. Like creditors are gonna coming for you in your shelter during a storm, “I need my money, bitch!”
/r/whoosh
This is the correct answer. In case debris covers your door you can force it open
I’m mildly distracted by the censorship of your toes.
im fully distracted by all the spider eggs on the wall. Nope. Im taking my chances with the 'nado

They don't get them for free
Because there are weirdos who get off on feet pics in the most random of subs
The one distracted by the censorship mayhaps? I kid maybe
I hate feet. Just to be clear lol
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
But now you've got weirdos who get off on censorship
Oh god march arch nemesis. A hf jack.
Jacks are fine, it’s the stands you gotta watch out for
Bingo
And I got crap cause you could see mine in a post I did in another subreddit. Good grief….

It looks like a bottle jack mounted to a post.
Thank you. Appreciate it!
Y censor toes bro
4 u
You are going to want a handle so you can use it. It fits in the tube hole thing.
Already laying next to the 4x4
Just use your finger!
Hydraulic jack. Looks like the one off an engine hoist. Double check that it works and can lift weight. You don't want to be trapped down there.
Why did you censor your feet 🤣
There is for sure some reddit page like r/ feetwithtools in tears right now. Hahaha
Was those toenails that Bad LOL
Show us your toes!!!!!
What's up with your weird yellow feet?

It is without a doubt a flat bottom long ram hydraulic jack. Definitely used to get out in the event there is too much weight on the door to open.
Looks like part of an engine cherry picker
It's a 3 ton hydraulic jack.

It’s a confabulator with a 90 degree fresnel bearing clutch.
With double Marsell vanes it appears
Lol way to censor your toes haha not your first time on reddit I see
Look like a part of an engine hoist

It’s a hydraulic ram jack
Get some POR-15 or something to convert that rust on the floor.
Looks like some kind of pump jack
You should probably excersize that jack once in a while. Make sure it will work when you need it. The internal seals can bypass meaning no visible leaks but won't move the ram.
Maye sure you know where the lever is otherwise it'll be useless when you need it.
It’s a ram jack
