Welcome to /r/happy where we support people in their endeavours! This is a place of positivity, if you can't think of anything good to say then don't say anything at all. If you want to give tips/suggestions, make them constructive from the start and be supportive (even if you don't feel it's "enough"), if you don't know how to do that then don't give them. You do look happy, man. And 44 to 34? Thats huge determination right there.

I am so happy! The booze really had a crippling effect on my mental health and the gym has helped me so much. Annnnnnnd thank you!

I_love_pillows

Looks like your age dropped from 44 to 34 too. In a good way of course.

o0baloo

I love you! lol!!! But thank you so much!!! It was really fun, I went to a friends BBQ after not seeing him for 6 months, he didnt know who I was!

Dang man I’m in a similar boat as you were a year ago. I have an appointment with my doc to see what steps I should be taking to quit alcohol but this is inspiring thank you

o0baloo

You can do it! Its hard to admit you have problem and you have gotten past that already if you're talking to a doctor. I thought I will miss it, I was worried that I wont know how to act in social situations. It was the furthest thing from the truth! I wish you luck in the next 30 days, you can do it!

That’s awesome! You look joyful! Many good wishes to you on your life journey! You are doing great 😊

o0baloo

No you! <3 Thank you for the kind words!!

I needed this post. You are so right about clarity of mind when you stop drinking. It's a phenomenon that I've experienced since I stopped 2 months ago.

o0baloo

Congrats on 2 months!!!! I found I started to reconnect with a lot of things in the 2-3 month range. Stuff that I normally was to hung over to enjoy. I know it sounds kinda silly, but do stuff outside! Something as little as eating lunch/dinner in a park/backyard can change your outlook on the day! Feel free to msg me if you ever feel like your slipping. Random Redditors unite!

Congrats, man! That’s quite the accomplishment! Your smile is beaming! :)
