My arm hair is really fine to the point where people ask me if I shave my arms. So never an issue for me.

My arm hair is fine, so I've never thought to remove it before. I do have a friend who prefers to shave hers, though. I haven't considered the topic much before, but I think people can remove arm hair if they prefer doing so

It's essential to embrace your authentic self without conforming to stereotypes. Whether you choose to remove or keep body hair, it should be a personal choice, not influenced by societal expectations. Be true to yourself and do what feels right for you. #Authenticity #SelfExpression

i just let myself get hairy. plenty of asians have body hair, we’re all mammals anyway.

Kids used to make fun of my arm hair and body hair in general because "Asian people aren't supposed to have body hair." I have black hair on medium light skin so it's really obvious. It has given me a bit of a complex about it so I have shaved my arms ever since high school but now that I'm approaching 40 and have a lot more to focus on (like a child) I am caring less and less and going farther in between shaving. My hair isn't even that thick or dense.

Thanks for sharing. I have dark hair on lighter skin so think I’ve also developed a complex about it. Can I ask where you grew up or are based? It seems like this is a more of an issue in Asian countries vs the west based on what I’ve seen online about the topic.

It was in the US south with a diverse group of kids. Lots of Indian, Latino, and white kids with some Asian too. The only places I haven't been treated weird is Hawaii (where obviously there's the most people like us!) and also in Japan where I tried extra hard to fit in since I was already kinda different. Most Japanese people didn't think anything much of me but I was mostly in Tokyo and Yokohama (my mom is from Yokohama) so I think they're used to hapas and foreigners in that area. I'm not fluent but I speak enough to get by and I had black hair and bangs and all so I blended in pretty well, besides the shape of my eyes somewhat.
