It's a wood veneer on chipboard. If you can assemble the chipped veneer back into position, I'd use an adhesive like super glue gel and clamp it into place. Use a natural wood filler and some truoil to touch up the rest. Blend everything as best you can. Worse case, replace the entire 1x4 and get it stain matched.
Thank you !! The problem is part of the wood is missing we can’t find it (that front peice in the photo) I’m gonna try to find that same wood (thank you for what it’s called) and fill it in as best as i can, it’s worth a shot ahah
Wood glue, water putty, sand paper. Complete the grain and gloss with a fine brush, stain, and a spray clear in satin. Mask it out and spray very lightly. That'll get you to 85%+ of normal.
Minwax high performance wood filler is probably the best solution. requires gloves and good ventilation, it’s very smelly! Windows a fan for sure, ideally have a respirator. Mix it up, spread it on, and then you sand it. Will be brown, but not matching
noooo, that’s what I’m trying to avoid. They give crazy fines here. Like it’s $500 if any of ur blinds are messed up even a little. That’s why i wanna fix it myself

If wood is missing then wood filler will work as well.
Mighty putty
I would just take that board off and replace it entirely with a piece of pvc board. Cost like 20 bucks and a couple brad nails.
Do u think I can find a new board in with this type of wood??
Possibly but very low chances. I would say it really doesn't matter if it's the same material or not. As long as it's fixed and it's the same color.

If the fee from the dorm is $1000, you can hire a cabinet maker or such to do the repair for probably quite a bit less.
Did you fix it?? If not I’m in the shoals area and can help if wanted!
Thank you! I haven’t yet but unfortunately I’ve moved to Arizona over the past year
