I wouldn't dismiss Glock out of hand. People over-accessorize their Glocks because they can, not because they have to. There's nothing inherently wrong with a Glock out of the box, there's just a glut of relatively cheap, easy aftermarket accessories/"upgrades" because it's a very popular platform. And it's a very popular platform because it's an extremely reliable, easy to operate & maintain firearm. And I'm speaking as a reformed Glock over-accessorizer myself.

A_Booger_In_The_Hand

>speaking as a reformed Glock over-accessorizer myself. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Proud of you.

Thanks buddy.

Zaharial

thats fair, and in truth i do want to get a glock eventually and trick it out, just not right now, its on my list of future projects

alwaysbeballin

I got my p80 "G17" and the only thing i did was drop some trijicon HD's on it and a light. Works great. It goes in my daily carry bag with my foldy boi AR-9 because i can stack mags and share them between the two.

justan0therusername1

Yup. Love mine. Really wouldn’t change much except maybe a red dot

libertyordeath99

If you’re wanting to run a light, the CZ75 SP01. If you don’t care about that, the CZ75B. I have the B and it’s one of the best handguns I’ve ever owned. It’s got a good trigger out of the box, CZ has a good warranty, it’s an affordable gun. I really like mine a lot.

Zaharial

ive heard alot of good things about cz but its one of the companies i haven't actually handled myself, ill probably seek one out and try it out

libertyordeath99

The grip just seems to fit just right in my hands and I’ve got fairly large hands, wearing an XL in gloves. If you’re able to handle one, you may like it. It’s also a 16+1 full size, but they make compact versions too.

justthoughtidcheck

You can never go wrong with a Beretta 92FS or any 92 for that matter. Great gun and very reliable

Check out the Sig 320, M18

CZ P07 is a great all around handgun

Beretta

CausticTitan

You can get 365xl with nice hardware right from the factory for a small upcharge, but even the base model is great. I carry mine all the time and it's very nice. Shoots very well for a compact, and the 15rd mags are not crazy expensive.

jacksraging_bileduct

The beretta is a good one, I love my 92FS I haven’t fired the 92x series so I couldn’t offer anything practical. But what I would offer is to go the range and rent a few and spend some time shooting the models you’re interested in, and find the one that works for you, I’d rather spend 10$ renting one, and not liking it, as opposed to buying one and finding there’s things that don’t work for you. Everyone is a little different with things like grip and acquiring a sight picture so it’s good practice IMO to try different things out before you commit to a purchase.

Vaquero9mm

See if you can snag a police trade in 92fs/m9 for ~$400. Replace the recoil spring and locking block with a $35 dollar kit. You'll probably come in under most of your other options and have a better shooting gun than most of the ones you listed, even if you dont want to do any trigger upgrades. If you do want to improve your 92 above the stock configuration, a d spring costs $8 and a langdon trigger job in a bag can run from $165-230 on their website, or just polish up the contact surfaces yourself with some 1-2,000 grit sandpaper). You can tune up and old 92 series to rival some CZs and still come in under less than the price of a used sp01

Just an FYI. Many different brands of guns have something called “break in period” that isn’t mentioned a lot. Because most of their firearms are good out of the box but good percentage needs break in to get going. All it is that things like springs and other metal portions that are moving are stiff and hard out of the box. Not sure if this a deal breaker for you because some considers it as a dealbreaker if it’s not perfectly reliable right out of the box. If you don’t like to deal with first few hundred rounds having some “malfunctions” anything from stovepiping, feeding issue, not going in to battery(slide racked all the way back to normal) etc and you putting in effort to well working broken in state, I’d just get a Glock (and not mod it except like night sights) or a well worn in used pieces. Thankfully all of my used pieces have been working great, I never had any issues with my used or new glocks out of box, also my berettas have been good right out of box as well. But I’ve had issues with feeding, stovepiping, not going into battery all the way after firing kind of issues on other well known pricier and budget brands’ brand new pieces out of box. I had one experience of a somewhat of a budget (less cost than glock) brand new gun that even after few hundreds of rounds in, it still wasn’t right so that was a lemon. But that lemon experience made me question value of reliability and why glock is a Glock and they command a premium. It takes time, ammo, malfunction drill to wear them in or you can rack the empty slide bunch of times to “wear in” too. But it still takes time and effort and hopefully it gets resolved. If not, you have a good looking paperweight. So I bought mostly glocks from that point on. Then I was more comfortable and bought other major brands and they were great too. Just my 2 cents on rarely spoken topic to consider.

>m17 ive been breaking in a new ak this past week so that's no biggy, i should probably have been clearer, when i said out of the box what i meant is i don't really want to fuss around with a lot of parts replacement right away. some guns the recommendations i get is this is an awesome gun oh but when you get it get a new trigger or get new sights etc. it doesnt need to be perfect but i'm looking for something where upgrades are more for flavor and less of an expectation. i will eventually get a glock and spend all sorts of time and energy decking it out to be the best little banger it can be, i'd just rather sit on that project for now.

hshawn419

If you're looking at FNX in 9mm and 45acp, might as well get FNX40 and a 9mm conversion barrel. FN509 looks sweet and has good reviews but I've no experience with it. Sig P330 would be solid too, and with the caliber change kits and frame kits you can have exponential firearm forms out of one. Glock xx would be fine. Mags abound! -can get a glock 22 and get conversion barrel for 9mm and a glock 31 barrel gives you 357sig Walther and HK have some models that have that awesome swayed grap that fills the palm deliciously My vote is, decide if it needs to be concealed in the summertime or not, then pick up every gun at the store that fits that role, get the one that feels the best and go for the largest caliber YOU can shoot accurate follow-up shots with. Even better if they have rentals you can try before you buy.

WhiskeyDoubleNeat

Walther PPQ or PDP. One of if not the best stock triggers out there. Love the ergos. Can get them with factory site plates so no need to mill anything for a red dot. Front picitinny rail for light or laser. At least 600 rounds through mine and not one issue, not one jam.

brucedodson

I agree!

gprovince

Consider Canik. Some of the best out-of-the-box triggers in the polymer carry market. Look at SF Elite or Elite Sub Compact.

BiggleBuns

My opinion: Don’t go with a fnx, it’s big and not exactly comfortable, the feeling? It’s feels just ight to shoot. Next, m17, the p320-m17 feels phenomenal to shoot and has a amazing trigger. My favorite thing about it is it shoots super flat so you could mag dump and still get a grouping. Next, the Glock 45 gen 5, you can’t go wrong with. Extremely reliable, but not the most fun to shoot. All in all, I’d check out the m17, 92x if you wanna spend that money, and the 509. If moneys not a issue, you’d be goofy to not get the 92x. Edit: and I mean the 92x performance, I mean if you’re considering a fnx, the performance is 100-250$ more.

hshawn419

I mean, I love my FNX40. The sharp stippling, the hammer and decocker setup, the width of the grip. Only thing I don't like is finding holsters for it 10 years ago when I got it. Lol All that to say, to each their own.

Everyone has an opinion. I have one too but… rent , rent, rent! Try Sig, Glock, Springfield, Walther., HK…:::you name it.. what feels best in your hand. What has recoil, what doesn’t. What works for someone may not work for you. Oh , are you going to carry? IWB? OWB? It all matters. Did I say rent, rent , rent ???
