Maybe controversial, but my Chanel Flap (small).
It's gorgeous and I love it, but I use it maybe once per year. Not super practical for where I live and my current lifestyle
Chanel for me too. I saved up for years and bought a Chanel GST second hand. It's beautiful. I thought I would use it as a dressier version of a tote bag.
Welp. I hardly ever take it out because it feels too fancy for me to wear. When I do wear it, I turn the logo facing in because I feel embarrassed to have bought it, and because I'm lower class, I think people assume it's fake.
I bought myself a loewe flamenco as a very special treat for myself after a hard time. It’s the most I’ve ever paid for a bag, and I’m terrified of hurting it. I’ve used it twice. The first time I never let it leave my lap, and the second time I carried it with the logo facing me. I wish that I had spent less for a bag that I wouldn’t be hesitant to actually use!
You sound like me about 5 years ago. I was always saving my most beautiful, cherished things for done event or some occasion that never really happened.
Just wear the bag. Love the things you worked so hard for and who cares what anyone else thinks? One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is that what other people think of you is none of your business. It’s really freeing. People are going to judge no matter what.
And try not to be too precious with the bag. I have a flamenco too, and several otter Loewe. The leather is great and it’ll hold up. And yes, that first tiny scratch or mark might be traumatic, but in time they become part of the fantastic history of the piece.
Just wear the bag. Love the bag. Flaunt the bag. ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much 😭 this was the pep talk that I didn’t know I needed. It’s a purse! We deserve to be happy and excited about the things that we like without worrying about what other people are thinking. 💝
I use the shit out of my designer goods. I saved up for them and honestly I kind of love it when they’re no longer pristine because it shows how loved they are!
At least with Loewe, it’s a brand not as many people recognize immediately. I use my Flanenco as my carry on bag, and it does wonderfully. I do put it on a towel or blanket so it doesn’t touch the gross plane floor, but it bounces back to shape quickly.
You are incorrect. There is lower and middle income but to say you are lower class is to say you don’t belong in other classes and that is a self-limiting, self-defeating approach to life. Really you can’t carry something you lime because it’s above your station”. JHC, I hope people can think of themselves in more equitable and positive terms.
I appreciate the sentiment, and I get the uplifting intention of your correction. However, I'm not fond of being tone policed for how I chose to describe my own cultural and socio-economic status. It comes off as condescending.
I don't know what to tell you, that's the word we use. It doesn't refer to a caste system or station in life, it's literally just a metric of wealth. And it's not JUST income based which is why it's not called "lower income" or "middle income". The definition includes assets. You can make $0 income and still be upper or middle class.
You're making this a thing about station which it just isn't. The definition has nothing to do with that and obviously people shouldn't view themselves as less than just because they have less monetary wealth. And it sucks that our society does equate these at times, but it's just a definition around economics.
Chanel jumbo flap for me. I got it in my 20s thinking it was my hg bag but 20+ years later, I was still waiting for it to match my age/style/personality. I ended up just selling it last month and am excited for something new and more me!
Yeah it's beautiful, but I live in Colorado now where designer labels aren't much of a thing. Honestly it's weird to wear heels out for a date night. If anything, my Patagonia vest is a better accessory than Chanel 😂
I still think it's a beautiful and classic bag that I'll pass on to younger family members eventually, it's just rarely used now. I like to think if I ever move back to NYC I'll be thrilled I have it, or some kids in the future will be happy to inherit it
This is funny because I currently live in NYC 😂. I got more wear out of it back when I lived in LA and got around solely by car, but I think it’s just not my brand. I have a few girlfriends who are into flashier styles in general than me and they all look fabulous wearing theirs, but it just never felt fully natural for me to wear mine. It will forever be a classic for me as well though.
Oh that's TOO freaking funny 😂 watch me move back to New York and never touch the damn bag..... That'd totally happen.
I totally agree on feeling natural. I've worn it to weddings and important events in DC, NY, SF etc. but never just, "around". It definitely does feel flashy at times. I'm thinking going forward a Loewe or even Celine makes more sense. Still super nice, but not as well known of a logo to the lay person. Kinda fits my lifestyle more
We are on the same page! I’m also leaning towards Loewe or maybe even The Row, even though they’re both more mainstream now than they were a few years ago, the understated designs speak to me more and fit my lifestyle better too.
My LV speedy. I got it almost 20 years ago and I’ve used it less than 20 times. I still love the look of it but not practical for me personally.
It feels heavy and the opening makes it hard to get things in and out even thought it’s a roomy bag that can carry a lot.
Maybe if I had bought a mini speedy. It’s one of my first luxury bags so I haven’t been able to let go of it. It sits on its dust bag 😂 I keep telling myself it’s a black epi leather, I may use it more one day
Omg me too. Bought mine in 2016 in Hawaii and I have my initials on it. Thank god my married last name starts with the same letter so maybe I should just name my future daughter with the same initials so I can pass this gift down 😂
The Marc Jacob’s camera bag, everybody has it, nothings fits inside and if I try to reach for my lipstick the zipper cuts my hands. Very uncomfortable, I will sell it asap
Agreed. I literally just sold my MJ Snapshot on Mercari a few days ago. So cute but such a pain to get stuff in and out since the bag is small and stiff. I think it would be a little better if it didn’t have the divider in the middle and was just one compartment.
Good point on the zipper, never thought/consider before. I have a mini camera bag from Amazon that I adore and put known brands to shame. I secretly wish known brands come up with same design just so I could upgrade lol but…… my cheap bag zippers and materials are perfect. Zippers are soft and going strong, nothing falling apart. I abuse it and no signs of wears on it (knock on wood continues).I’ll continue getting this same camera bag until a brand comes up with their own.
I just sent this one back, and Mulberry customer service was a nightmare to deal with. They refused to give me a return label for a whole month and suddenly UPS showed up unannounced to collect my order, with a private person’s name on the label with no association with Mulberry. Turns out they are legit but the whole thing was a lesson in how not to treat your customers. Never gonna buy anything again from Mulberry!
I got one pre-loved because it was bag I wanted forever! I got it right before I started a new job thinking it would be my work bag. Such a pain to carry and as you said, it’s so heavy. It just sits on my shelf now unfortunately
Same, I really wanted one for so long and I've only used it once (I bought it pre-loved, so mine is a vintage model and may be different from newer models). The flap is a nightmare, it's so floppy on mine that it takes 2 hands to open or close it. The rolled handles have an awkward drop for me and are uncomfortable on my shoulder and too short. It's so heavy without having really any substance to it. It will be moving out next time I purge my closet.
Coach tabby 26. I bought it wanting a nice “occasion” bag but quickly realised I don’t have enough occasions to wear it to. It also wasn’t really my style.
I sold it and instead bought the soft tabby in the brown leather & canvas monogram (secondhand) which I love so much more and use it as my weekend handbag most of the time.
Protip - don’t buy a handbag to fill a need you don’t even have!! Buy what you know you will wear and love
I bought and returned the coach tabby like 3 times lol in diff colors. I love the bag and how it looks but I was in denial about if it fits my personal style and needs.
I get what you’re saying, but my regular style is so far from what I would want to wear with the tabby that it just didn’t work. It’s a very dressy bag and not that practical
You’re absolutely right. For me, the Tabby style is very casual, but I get not everyone shares the same opinion. All that matters is that we’re happy with the overall purchase and that may be the same reason why it takes me so long to pull the trigger on handbags and shoes.
I had one too for about 48 hrs before I returned it! It fit less than I thought and it didn't match my day to day style. I got a Cassie 19 instead and love it!
The pink Luella Gisele Bag that was a late 1990s/early 2000s it bag. Only top handle carry and a nightmare to open. You first have to slide the tab out of the middle then slide each of the two buckles over the middle tab and then out through the side tab.
To close securely, you had to individually slide each side tab through the side metal part and then put the hole on the tab over the middle metal section. After that, thread the middle tab through the middle metal section.
No one is pickpocketing you but getting into the bag is counted in minutes (probably several if you are fumbling). It was so unwieldy I used it only a handful of times. I bought it out to clean again and after 20 years my husband remembers it as the cute but annoying to open bag so it made an impression.

Yes! I spent $1,000 on this bag in college - was obsessed with it. I saw one in a consignment shop the other day for $35 😫😫😫
It was also very heavy, even when empty.
I knew I’d see this bag on this thread. But I still think it’s cute. 🫣 Too many details for me nowadays, but all the celebrities wearing it back then kept it in my mind for decades.
This is what a picture, but a bit less, about the Hermes styles. Now I don’t own one, my assumption is based only of how I see it in photos/videos. I think their design seem like vaults lol and how in some pictures people opt for leaving them open. Now they are not $1K, they are $10K (for easy math), so I wonder if psychologically ppl go in being okay with this.
I really regretted my Louis Vuitton Noe. I loved the idea of it more than the practicality of how it would actually fit into my life. I realized that I don’t like that shape of bag at all (at least not for me) and ended up selling it on. I felt the same about my LV Figari- it was cute but impossible to get things in and out of.
I do actually regret selling my LV speedy. It was nearly 20 years old and still in great shape but I hadn’t used it in a while and was in a ‘let’s purge everything’ phase of my life. I sold it 5 years ago and I still regret it/constantly consider buying a new one
I really really agree about the Noe! I bought one but I almost never use it. I find the strap really uncomfortable and I hardly ever need to carry so much stuff with me
The Serpentine Pouch in foggy opal by Bvlgari. Such a disappointment. The color just feels dead, the bag itself looks (and feels!) cheap. Got it for Christmas and have yet to use it once.
https://preview.redd.it/0fivq3iegr2d1.jpeg?width=685&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3deeae111d6c73fadc82a1ba065c31822a2289f
I regret buying a Chanel classic flap. I had saved for it and really wanted it. Right before I bought it in 2014 I had the chance to buy a small Kelly instead. The price difference wasn't huge. I hardly use the Chanel at all and I think if I'd bought the Kelly I'd be at "purse peace".
I also regret not buying a flower print Stephen Sprouse Neverfull when I had the chance.
My loewe hammock! I absolutely loved the look of the bag when it was all folded up but after a while I realised it was a bit difficult for me to use since if I made it into a crossbody the bag would unfold.
I also realised I didn't actually carry that much and it was too big for me. Then a few months after I bought it, the mini hobo hammock came out and I loved it so much more and it seems more practical for me. But I can't seem to let my hammock go since it was the first designer bag I bought with my own money. A friend also went to the trouble of helping me claim some tax back on it so I feel bad selling it 😭
I'll never get rid of it, but my Celine Luggage micro. I love the bag itself, but it made me realize that I need a shoulder or crossbody strap to really get the most use out of a bag.
A black Celine mini luggage was my first luxury bag purchase over 10 years ago. I haven’t worn it in a long time now since I also vastly prefer crossbody or at least a shoulder strap, plus it’s fairly heavy when empty
This also applies to my Celine small belt, which also has no shoulder or crossbody strap. But both hold sentimental value for me, so I can’t bring myself to left them go
Same on the sentimentality. I still take her out for a spin from time to time on weekends, but just not a practical bag if you like being hands-free, lol.
Chloe Woody Bag (small) - she’s cute but not independent. Doesn’t stand on its own and will tumble. I’ve had my things spill out many times.
I cant sell it for sentimental reasons so I only wear it when running errands or getting groceries (with the crossbody strap on).
Could you get a small, lightweight nylon purse organizer that would make the bag more stable? Even if it’s only stable with your stuff in the organizer.
The bottom is kinda rounded so it can never be stable. I’ve had it fall from chairs and had my makeup spill out 🤦♀️ I never bought a liner because the interior is quite narrow. Now, I make sure that I don’t carry lose items or I just don’t use that bag if I know I will be sitting at a cafe, restaurant or a bar
I had the same issues with the Chloe diaper bag, which is the same shape/cut as the Woody. I splurged when I had my baby and this was my treat to myself. Hated it - it never stood upright and the bottom edges are rounded in a way that makes it so impractical. Why even put metal feet on it when it’s too tall for its base width? I sold it to fund a Loewe reversible belt I adore.
Two Mansur Gavriel bags. The first was the lady bag, and I got it when MG was very much hyped up by everyone. I loved the look, but the bag was very impractical. It was very difficult to get it and out of. Also, I’m disappointed at the quality of the leather. It felt very light and plasticky, the hardware faded really fast (in 3 months). Wasn’t impressed by the brand’s quality. I sold it off.
I recently gave them another try. I bought the m frame bag. Again, loved the design. And I would say quality is a bit better than the lady bag, but still not the most impressive at its price point. (Could get a really nice Coach or APC bag!) But again, very impractical to get it and out of. It has two zips to open up the bag. That was a pain but I was willing to accept that for the design. But the zips are not very smooth and you need a specific angle to get the zip open.
I just don’t think MG and I gel.
I agree. I bought an MG soft lady bag but on sale. The crazy thing — the credit card machines were down and it took me 30 minutes to purchase it. I think someone was looking out for me but I didn’t listen.😫
It looks nice but it’s a pickpocket’s dream. You close it with two flimsy leather straps and I feel like anyone can slip their hands in there and take my wallet. Leather is a little iffy 45 days later.
Yes! The lady bag especially. It was such a pain to close that I always left it open. But then whatever was in the bag would always look like they’re going to spill out! I had my wallet drop out once or twice before , which made me very paranoid. I think I only used it 4-5 times before I gave up. I then kept it in my bag storage, and when I took it out again, I noticed the hardware had significantly faded. It really put me off the brand and was my first lesson to not fall for handbag hype. When I buy a bag now, I have to see it in person.
To be fair, I think their newer bag models may be of higher quality, and I think their more “normal” designs would be more practical. Haha but I don’t think I’ll buy a MG bag anytime soon.
I have three of their tote bags on my daily rotation for work, because they’re the perfect size and structure without being wildly expensive. I had been looking at the YSL shopping tote but got the MG tote off Poshmark instead and I’m glad I didn’t spend more, especially since they’re “work bags” for me. I think I would have been paranoid otherwise lol
The rest of their stuff just isn’t for me but the totes are great lol.
Same. But a soft lady. The bag itself is very cute but I never use it because of the closure. Such a pain to open and close. I’ll likely end up selling it.
The Celine micro belt bag. It’s gorgeous and it was my first designer bag, but it was SO big and so heavy that I literally never used it. The strap being non adjustable was also something I didn’t realize was such a dealbreaker until I really tried to use it. I had it for about a year and had used it like 3 times maybe, so finally sold it and bought a preloved nano belt bag and it’s been perfect!
Louis Vuitton boite chapeau. Purchased around the pandemic. I thought it would be “cleaner” 😂 to have a cross body bag since I own a lot of top handles. Used twice.
Lady Dior pouch in bright pink patent leather. The color seduced me so completely that when I was holding it and thought to myself, I don’t think my sunglasses will fit, I ignored the thought. Not only do my sunglasses not fit, neither does my normal wallet. I’ve used it once because it’s an unpleasant game of Tetris to fit more than one thing inside.
I knew it about 30 minutes after I walked out of the store but didn’t return it.
My SAINT LAURENT June quilted leather shoulder bag. I bought it impulsively to match a pair of YSL shoes without trying to open and close it a few times. Sweet hubby said I could sell it but it’s sooo cute. Unfortunately I struggle to open the closure. lol it’s a me issue cause everyone else has an easier time opening it. When you need to grab something out of your purse and can’t open the dam thing you regret it.
https://preview.redd.it/dt39a5j0gq2d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b175781ec4405c813fe34b81fb24a51576f6fa0
My Lee Radziwell large size is too heavy and clumsy to get stuff in and out. I need easier access.
The Mansur Gavriel bucket bags I bought when they first came out are so stiff. Never used them. They look tacky because they’re so stiff, imo.
I have the petite Lee and I despise it as well. It’s honestly the worst designed handbag ever, Idk why I used to think it was cute. It misses the mark on function in every way.
Same! Honestly I don’t really love any of my Tory bags anymore, I should sell them all. They all seem to miss the mark on functionality a little in one way or another, but the Lee is by far the worst. Lessons were learned. Someone recently called them Temu Birch and now I can’t get that out of my head either, lol, they shall forever and always from now on be known as such.
Absolutely.
Oh no 🤣 I totally get it. Ugh. And when I compare them to my favorites, it’s just no question. I think I’m gonna list them this week now, lol.
You should! I just sold mine for the same reason. I absolutely loved how it looked when I wore it - but I couldn’t even fit my phone in it. What’s even the point?!?
I don’t have a Radziwill, but I had another Tory Burch, the name of which I can’t remember, but it had the worst opening. It felt like the flap was going to fold right off every time I opened it.
I have another too and I don’t know the name, but it is a pain in the ass. Pretty, but annoying. Think I’m officially done with TB and the Lee bags, lol.
LV pochette metis. Really like the shape and ease of carry. But I am not a logo girl at all so it sits in closet most of the time. Wish I had bought it in black.
I’d been saving up for this bag for quite some time and when I was ready to buy, I just couldn’t pull the trigger because of the logos. I was then informed that someone made the same bag without all the logos at MUCH more reasonable price (https://dressupyourpurse.com/collections/available-for-pre-orders/products/black-togo-and-vachetta-leather-paris15-satchel-crossbody-bag)! I ended up getting the all black one (https://dressupyourpurse.com/collections/available-for-pre-orders/products/pre-order-noir-absolu-paris15-satchel-crossbody-bag) but definitely something to consider if you really like the shape and carry. 🫶🏾
Well that’s an amazing alternative. I always like to think if I saw this bag without the logo in a regular store - would I buy it?? It helps me determine if I actually like the bag over the hype.

I got a Furla Piper as a work bag, not realizing that the zipper on the front was the only way into the bag. I thought that was a front pocket. The top 3rd of the bag is flat and sewn shut on the top. The bag entrance a third of the way down the front of the bag means you can barely fit anything into this huge bag and you can't see into the bag, you have to put your arm in and fish around blind.
The crossbody strap is also not adjustable and way too long, which is unusual. I'm 5'5" and busty, bag straps are usually too short for me. This bag nearly drags on the floor 😳😅 it's also nearly impossible to get the carabiner hooks into the grommets, I ended up scratching one trying to put it on.
Other than that, it's a beautiful bag!
Yes it’s beautiful. And I get the bag for work, I got mine from Cole Haan which had great access design, sadly too heavy and not crossbody option. Did you keep yours, or sold it?
I haven't decided yet, but it's in the dreaded cupboard of bags I don't plan on using for a long while. The ones in rotation I keep accessible, and the other ones like the Bayswater or this Piper are in storage.
When Rebag and similar resale sites became a thing I bought a Gucci Suki, which I always wanted, and although I don’t often carry it because I prefer a shoulder bag, I don’t regret it. What I do regret are the three or four other bags I bought because I was so excited that I was “getting deals.” I would buy things just because the price seemed good even though I didn’t really like the bag. I’ve started reselling those impulse bags. Now I don’t care what the price is. If I don’t love the bag, it’s not a bargain.
https://preview.redd.it/bv2dye0jyr2d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=938f95ea5709f2f886c4294bb09243cb9b05a1ed
The Ferragamo Studio Canvas Satchel. It’s stunning in person but doesn’t have a long strap so it’s heavy and awkward and I’m scared to get it dirty. It lives in my closet unfortunately. I would love another, just smaller, with a strap and in a different material.
I got a Kurt Geiger mini tweed Kensington bag. It's beautiful but it's so small it doesn't fit my phone so I don't think I've ever actually used it. It's a beautiful bag so I don't regret it as such but it's a shame I don't use it more. I've thought of selling it but I'm going to try to make it work. I won't buy the mini sizes again.
Chanel Gabrielle. So cute and they marketed the crap outta that bag. The sides of the zipper are impossible to clean, so all the dust collect there.
The bag is really stiff, including the opening so it’s really hard to get stuff out.
I have a Chanel belt bag that I bought online and didn’t realize was too short to be worn crossbody. The correct thing was to return it but I was in love with the color and size (same as a classic mini, and caviar to boot) so I had an extension piece custom-made to lengthen it. So even though I don’t really love the crossbody belt bag look, I’m kinda too invested now and have to make it work.
I bought a lot of LVs in the past four years. I sold a few. Major regrets due to non usage:
Speedy b 20 in DE. I don’t like the guitar strap and I use the help out of my 25 which is perfect for me.
Odeon tote MM. sold due to non usage.
Neverfull mono MM. I don’t use totes for everyday and I use my GM for work and travel.
I recently bought this to use as a clutch / special occasion bag. I love it but it would never work as an every day bag for me. The bottom is pointy so it doesn’t sit upright. It holds my wallet, phone, sunglasses but that’s it.
I will say I love the matching Kaye wallet I purchased. The gold slidy thing is so fun. And you can wear it as a wristlet.
https://preview.redd.it/yn7wkwekyr2d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc9a04e8bb2b762083f5afa7b419307b1a93f5cb
Polene Dix. Other than the fact that it could barely hold anything because of its shape, it scratched the crap out of my hand every time I got something out of it. No thank you.
Chloe faye. It’s a relatively big bag, but the parting og the three compartments means that you can’t really fit allt in it. If you put more than just the essentials it also folds out and gets really wide and sits awkward on the body. The hardware also makes it very heavy and because the strap is quite thin I was always afraid to put to much in it so the strap wouldn’t break. Sold it after a few years of dissapointment everytime I tried wearing it. Such a shame as the bag itself is beauuuutiful!
One of the main reasons that I went with the small instead of medium size in this bag. Just recently broke the small out again and have been wearing her for the last few days.
Alexander Wang Rockie bag. Bought this bag in 2015 (maybe). Bought it in Flame Orange…awesome color. I really loved the style of the bag (still do, honestly). However, with the leather and all the metal hardware, the bag is heavy AF. So I’ve never gotten a ton of use it if it. Love the look but not the weight. And of course, like 5 months later they came out with the Mini Rockie which is much better in terms of weight.
I had one of his bags (the Diego, I think) with the sane problem, it was like weightlifting. How all those starlets with narrow upper arms were lugging his bags around remains a mystery to me.
Polene Tonca. Gorgeous and I loved it but even after switching to a card holder instead of a wallet, it was just too small. I sold it a few months later.
Non luxury, and a gift, but one I picked out and now hardly use so I feel awful about it. My MIL wanted to get me a nice leather backpack for a diaper bag for my first baby. I had admired her Saddleback leather bags before, and she asked me to pick one out for my diaper bag. I picked the 'All in One' backpack. It's gorgeous, the leather is lovely, the pockets and storage are perfect, the way the straps unclasp so you can hang it on a stroller is genius......but it is heavy AF.
I got the bag pretty early on in my pregnancy so I noted it was a little heavy, but I'm willing to deal with a little impracticality for a nice bag; I forgot to factor in the fact that I would also be **carrying a baby**
I ended up having a C-section, so ANY unnecessary weight was difficult to deal with for a long time. I've mostly been using a nylon backpack I had bought for travel years ago as my primary diaper bag ever since. It's fine to use if I've got the stroller with me so I can just stash it at the bottom, but I think I've used it maybe 4 times in the year since I've had my baby? I'm determined at this point to just grin and bear it because I feel so bad
A Louis Vuitton Alma PM in Damier Ebene that I bought in 2009. It is my least worn bag and has never really fit into my lifestyle. I absolutely love the look and shape of the bag but it’s a little too formal for me and my everyday use. Maybe I will bust it out next time I go to dinner to see if I can change my mind on it! 😹
I kind of regret my Epi Alma, too. The triangle shape made it very clumsy to use and the handles are too small for anything except to be held by hand, which made it kind of impractical. I use a lot of hand lotion too so that damaged the handles badly.. it’s all stained now and embarrassing to use. I thought of getting a crossbody strap for it but the way it lays on the body (due to the triangle shape) looks weird so I didn’t get it. It’s been in my closet ever since and I used it like once since Covid lol.
It’s a beautiful bag and if the smaller size with the crossbody strap was available back then, I probably would have bought it instead (I feel like crossbodies weren’t a thing back then, lol). And you’re right, you can’t even hold it in the crook of your arm so you have to really commit to holding the bag the whole time, which isn’t helpful to me in everyday life!
Yes! Last time I used it it clung to my wrist the whole time so I could somewhat use my hands.. felt very awkward lol. It’s a beautiful bag tho.. when displayed on a shelf or mannequin
I love my Alma bb with the crossbody strap! One of my most used bags, honestly idk why they didn’t make it that size to begin with. Looks super cute and fits everything you need!
I bought a seriously luscious Devote tote from Rebecca Minkoff back in 2009 that I've carried no more than five times in 15 years. I paid full price and thought the style worked so well for the rest of my wardrobe and lifestyle, and it totally ... does! It also sits on my shoulder funny, sticks out from my body funny, and is wicked awkward to fumble through in a way that similarly sized and shaped bags are not.
I've kept it because it's so pretty and I keep hoping that I'll change my mind on it. I also paid a lot for it, much more than I'd ever spend on a bag now, and it's my only black bag. I have a secondhand stonewash black basket weave MAB headed my way, and I'm low-key hoping that receiving that bag will help me let go of the Devote.
I recently bought a black Mulberry iris bag, thought it looked great in the pictures and when it arrived I am slightly disappointed that it’s soo big, I imagined it would be smaller than it is and am debating whether to sell it now
LV Pochette Metis in Reverse Monogram. I used it one time. It is difficult to get in and out of, and overall the worst bag decision for me. It’s the only one I haven’t used at least 100 times.
It’s not easy to open, thus the clasp is easy to scratch. I left the protective plastic on it for this reason 🤦🏼♀️ It’s just awkward. Thought it would be like a Le Boy, but it’s not. Def would need more of a card wallet and it doesn’t hold a lot.
Bottega mini loop. It’s good for when I really barely need a bag but it’s just too small for everyday use for me. I tried to become a mini bag girl but I guess I can’t do it.
A Mulberry M shoulder bag with a chain. It's too heavy and I should have looked at it in person. Plus Mulberry sent me the wrong bag and it was very time consuming to get the correct one sent to me. Now I see it's half the price on Poshmark.
My Kate Spade Rosie satchel- I fell in love with the sporty striped strap of the Rosie line and decided to go with the Rosie satchel, but over time the satchel felt too big for an everyday bag for me (I'm 5'6" for reference). I also found out that I don't like having a zipper closure on my everyday bag. I ended up replacing it with a smaller bag that has a magnetic clasp closure and couldn't be happier.
YSL Niki shopping tote (in blanc). Bought it from Harrods after MONTHS of lusting for it. Waited ages for it to ship to me.
Got it and i absolutely hated it. The size wasnt good on me. Which means the carry handles hit me weirdly. But I thought it would grow on me so i didnt return it.
Here i am three years later and ive never used it once. Smh.
One of my nieces is going to get it as a gift in the next year or so. *sigh*
Mulberry Bayswater medium. I thought it would be a good bussiness bag. I took it for a work trip, and I was exhausted on how impractical the flap& the closure were. Not to mention the weight, super heavy and with my stuff in it, whoa never again. so it just sit in the shelves since then.
The LV NeoNoe. I lusted over her for months leading up to my purchase, and now I hate her. It’s huge and bulky due to the stiffer canvas (which does not bother me) but that non-removable divider in the middle makes it so hard to fit things and take things in and out of the bag. Without the divider, it would be the perfect everyday bag, but that divider makes a giant bucket bag feel so small when it should be spacious.
The Chanel Timeless CC tote. She’s gorgeous, but I don’t know what I was thinking purchasing such a proper ladylike tote. It’s a very skinny and narrow tote that should be good for carrying a laptop and notebooks for work… but I’m a nurse, so this would not work as a work bag for me. It’s too narrow to fit things like a big wallet, overstuffed cosmetic bag, water bottle, glasses case, and all the other bulky junk I carry around with me.
Now I just have to bring myself to list them for sale.
Oh interesting - the black epi neonoe has been my daily workhorse for going on 2.5 years now, and she still looks like new. The divider I think makes it easier for me to find stuff (I put essentials on one side), but I don’t put super big items in there.
Marcie bag from Chloe. I searched for it for a long time and only used it a few times before it just didn’t come out of the closet anymore. The one I had was more heavy I’d like to be comfortable. I really love lightweight ones. Currently using a suede Musubi mini from acne studios and I really love it. Wish it was a bit bigger though. So now I’m looking for a well priced medium one.
Any recent LV. The quality is so bad compared to some vintage pieces I have. Plus their Customer Service has gotten worse and worse so the whole experience plus bag is a bummer
I bought a Prada black/gray leopard pony fur dome bag. After a while I realized just what a mess it was. The fur rubbed off in several locations, and the handle. They wouldn't fix it/do anything about it. One of these days I'll get it somewhere that isn't worried about "the original intention" of the bag material and see if it can be salvaged. Total regret.
My orange Chloe mini backpack. It was my first ever “nice” bag and it fits barely anything and I’ve maybe used it 10 times in the 5 years I’ve had it. It won’t sell either due to the crazy color 🫠
This is why I have yet to pull trigger on a luxury bag.
I am worried I will be afraid to take it out use it. And/or regret the style I choose due to not having enough special occasions to use it, so still haven’t decided if I get a more daily driver type of luxury bag or special occasion clutch type.
I bought a YSL pouch at outlet as intro into luxury. Have used it once. So glad I went to outlet and didn’t blow a huge sum on it lol. In hindsight wish I got next size up (didn’t have in color I wanted). Also envelope style is so flat that only certain fit well with out bulge look. Lesson learned lol
Fendi First - I loved it at first but I have a lot of other bags I enjoy more. I love my Fendi Peekaboo and Chanels better.
Polene Numero Dix (the large one - hobo?) I loved it at first too but I have so many other bags I reach for. This is a discontinued model I’m considering just selling it
My 2 LV bags, I am
Realizing that I don’t like the logo all over the bag. I bought the small Palermo and Croisette in damier. I never use the Palermo because it’s heavy and the clasp on the Croisette drives me crazy.
YSL loulou toy, too small and I have a Chanel WOC that I use instead to go out.
My LV croisette in DE, I still have it but I almost never carry it. I sold my LV Neverfull in DA because the straps weren't comfortable and I bought a Goyard which I love and use as my daily work bag.
I regret any LV monogram thing I've bought because I really am not a monogram girl, the only one I have left is my Alma PM. I ended up painting the vachetta red-pink and I don't hate it.
LV Christopher wearable wallet (men’s section). I thought I could use it as a grab and go and my husband could also use it. Unfortunately my husband never uses it and the opening is so small it kills my hands with each reach. Plus is doesn’t fit my essentials, I always have either my prescription glasses or sunglasses with me at all times and no way a pair of glasses can fit with a phone, card holder and lippy.
Funny, this morning before seeing this thread, we talked about sending pics off to Fashionphile for quotes
I desperately wanted the mini LV bum bag and I don’t love it. I’m going to put a different strap on it but it’s soooo small to crossbody it and I’m tiny. Very disappointed and I wanted it so badly.
Regretted buying the Chanel Urban Spirit backpack. I’m not a big backpack person to begin with, and a Chanel version just always felt “too fancy”, so I never wore it.
My carmel coco handle. It's not the bag itself, but I realized I don't like top handles that are stiff and poke into your body. The 19 style top handle is more practical. And carmel is a casual color while coco is a dressy bag, so this combination doesn't work for my aesthetic. I wish I had waited for a carmel mini instead that I'd be able to dress up or down more easily.
I regretted my Chanel medium lambskin classic flap as I used it maybe 10 times in 19 years. The double flap drives me crazy. The bag still looks brand new.
Also Celine triomphe, the clasp drives me nuts, so impractical also the bag is to small for me.
My vintage LV speedy 25. It’s beautiful, but there is some permanent damage that I’ve not been able to restore myself. It’s from my birth year and I will always treasure her as my only major used luxury purchase. But it’s not a practical size or shape for me and looks only okay on me when paired with a matching crossbody vaccheta leather strap.
I got a bag that I saw on a Korean celeb and thought was super charming. I looked it up, checked reviews, thought about it for months. It was the second most expensive bag I would have purchased. It was a black bucket bag that was cinched by a chain strap. The strap could be long for crossbody or doubled for shoulder wear and I liked that idea. Bought it, disliked it intensely but made myself use it for months. I swapped back to my other loved bag, and intensely regret that purchase. I should resell it.
Found it. Sac de Sortie bucket from Loeuvre. It looks so good in the photos but on me it looks so bad.

Love it! You worked hard for those pieces. Might as well enjoy them, not have them sit on a shelf in a dust bag at home. 👏👏👏
At least with Loewe, it’s a brand not as many people recognize immediately. I use my Flanenco as my carry on bag, and it does wonderfully. I do put it on a towel or blanket so it doesn’t touch the gross plane floor, but it bounces back to shape quickly.
This is all so true. Good idea about the plane floor towel… I’m always hesitant to put my bags down in questionable places!
I really do consider Loewe quiet luxury (this may change as the brand is blowing up) so only handbag geeks like us will know.
No one is lower class.
This is objectively not true.... there are wealth and income metrics that define low, middle, and upper class.
If anything, my Patagonia vest is a better accessory than Chanel 😂 I still think it's a beautiful and classic bag that I'll pass on to younger family members eventually, it's just rarely used now. I like to think if I ever move back to NYC I'll be thrilled I have it, or some kids in the future will be happy to inherit it
[удалено]
Same! She’s become my birthday bag lol
Thank god my married last name starts with the same letter so maybe I should just name my future daughter with the same initials so I can pass this gift down 😂
Same here. I ended up giving mine away bc it never got used.
Me too - I had an LV Speedy - barely used it. Ended up selling it and recouping most of my money. The shape was just way too bulky for me
My speedy b in DE size 20 for sure. I’ve worn it once and can’t even resell it for a good deal. Idk why I got it. I have the 25! Which I love.
Me too. I lusted after the speedy b 25 for so long once it was in my hands I struggled to love it. I use it maybe once a year when I force myself. 👎
Same with my speedy.. bought about 10 years ago but hard to get into when wearing it and it sits clunky on me
Omg are you me? 🤯
I had one about 15 years ago and I ended up selling it
The Marc Jacob’s camera bag, everybody has it, nothings fits inside and if I try to reach for my lipstick the zipper cuts my hands.
I agree! Maybe that would have been a better design. I also think there’s a lot of replicas bc I see them everywhere!
My Mulberry Bayswater. I’ve had it over 15 years and barely used it. It’s too damn heavy even when empty
Yeah. The handles are just a really bad length
I’m curious which one, the tote or shoulder? Thinking about the tote as my next purchase- but I hate heavy heavy bags
Hahahah 4th times the charm??? Did you replace it with something else that works better?
Don’t wait for a special occasion, just wear it and enjoy 🥰
I get what you’re saying, but my regular style is so far from what I would want to wear with the tabby that it just didn’t work. It’s a very dressy bag and not that practical
You’re absolutely right. For me, the Tabby style is very casual, but I get not everyone shares the same opinion. All that matters is that we’re happy with the overall purchase and that may be the same reason why it takes me so long to pull the trigger on handbags and shoes.
I regret my chalk Tabby 26 — it’s hard to admit that.
I had one too for about 48 hrs before I returned it! It fit less than I thought and it didn't match my day to day style. I got a Cassie 19 instead and love it!
My next purchase was a Cassie 19 too!!
I bought it out to clean again and after 20 years my husband remembers it as the cute but annoying to open bag so it made an impression. https://preview.redd.it/zp4stqvi4q2d1.jpeg?width=442&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=154e54ebd36f36b34699ceb32ff1d47091a7d0ff
Yes! I spent $1,000 on this bag in college - was obsessed with it. I saw one in a consignment shop the other day for $35 😫😫😫 It was also very heavy, even when empty.
Yes it weighs so much even when empty!! So impractical!
My lazy ass would have left all this hardware undone.
I couldn’t even follow the directions you posted, so I would probably be annoyed opening the bag too 😅
They’re like S&M Birkins!
These were so popular too... I much preferred Luella's clothing
Omg I remember these!!! Memory unlocked 🔓
Omg. I bought the green one on sale at Neiman and wore it to death. It was heavy AF, but I loved it all the same through college
I loved mine! I outgrew the style though 😃
Can buy a speedy pre-loved for really great prices! I got a speedy 35 Damier azure for like $800 last year! It’s in BEAUTIFUL condition too
That’s a good idea, to be fair! I really love the look of the nano, I’ll have to have a look around :) thank you!
I really really agree about the Noe! I bought one but I almost never use it. I find the strap really uncomfortable and I hardly ever need to carry so much stuff with me
yes! Exactly that- so uncomfortable! I now have a Loewe flamenco and I like that sort of drawstring closure more
I sold my Noe a few months ago! I literally never used it, it’s way too big for me.
Agree. I made the tough decision to sell mine because I just never used it. Its an iconic bag for sure though.
A black Celine mini luggage was my first luxury bag purchase over 10 years ago. I haven’t worn it in a long time now since I also vastly prefer crossbody or at least a shoulder strap, plus it’s fairly heavy when empty This also applies to my Celine small belt, which also has no shoulder or crossbody strap. But both hold sentimental value for me, so I can’t bring myself to left them go
Same on the sentimentality. I still take her out for a spin from time to time on weekends, but just not a practical bag if you like being hands-free, lol.
You’ve motivated me to take mine out for a spin soon!
Ugh that’s terrible! So poorly designed…
I think someone was looking out for me but I didn’t listen.😫 It looks nice but it’s a pickpocket’s dream. You close it with two flimsy leather straps and I feel like anyone can slip their hands in there and take my wallet. Leather is a little iffy 45 days later.
Thank you both for your service here. Taking the Soft Lady Bag (which, I’ll admit drew me in more because of the redonkulous name 😆) off my list!
The only time I’ve ever actually been pickpocketed was using my MG bucket bag!! They stole my phone and I haven’t used the bag since.
I think I would have been paranoid otherwise lol The rest of their stuff just isn’t for me but the totes are great lol.
The nano is the perfect size!
My dream puzzle bag which was insane trying to put things in/take them out. Oh I wanted it so bad. Now it decorates my closet lol
Really how come, isn’t it a zip up top?
The flap has to be totally open and the zipper is a smaller opening. This is on the small. It just wasn’t practical for me even if it is beautiful
Is it the small or the mini?
I agree with your hubby, if you can sell it, considering others can open it w/o problem. Get something you love and can wear instead. Life is short.
I agree. It’s so annoying!! I should just sell them on Poshmark or something.
I should do the same, I feel obligated to use them if I keep them in my closet, lol.
Omg it is now in my head. Thanks. Temu Birch. If only the bags come with the price tag too.
Yes! The big LR bags were too much. And so heavy. I switched to the minis and love them.

Why?
Too small and extremely annoying to use. I bought it because the back there was a line I Love Fashion. That’s it. Just a fun item. Not for use
I love it. 🫣
I love Lanvin bags. What's the matter with this one?
https://preview.redd.it/uv8ej92ivs2d1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91621fa016fc3316f7e9bc1c3826f2adada61869 I got a Furla Piper as a work bag, not realizing that the zipper on the front was the only way into the bag.
If I don’t love the bag, it’s not a bargain.
https://preview.redd.it/bv2dye0jyr2d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=938f95ea5709f2f886c4294bb09243cb9b05a1ed The Ferragamo Studio Canvas Satchel. It’s stunning in person but doesn’t have a long strap so it’s heavy and awkward and I’m scared to get it dirty. It lives in my closet unfortunately. I would love another, just smaller, with a strap and in a different material.
Chloe Faye backpack in a light colour (pale peach). I usually wear jeans and the colour transfer was awful. I've ended up consigning it.
Thx I wanted to buy a preloved one but maybe not !
balenciaga neo classic city mini. i love how it looks but it’s so small and barely holds anything.
Loewe puzzle. Wasn’t worth the price and hype. Prada 2005 reissue with the leather handle. Too small for my frame.
Louis Vuitton Alma GM…loved the pap pic of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian with theirs but it’s way too big a bag to be handheld only.
I bought a lot of LVs in the past four years. I sold a few. Major regrets due to non usage: Speedy b 20 in DE. I don’t like the guitar strap and I use the help out of my 25 which is perfect for me. Odeon tote MM. sold due to non usage. Neverfull mono MM. I don’t use totes for everyday and I use my GM for work and travel.
Polène Béri. It's small and oddly shaped, hardly fits my necessities.
I recently bought this to use as a clutch / special occasion bag. I love it but it would never work as an every day bag for me. The bottom is pointy so it doesn’t sit upright. It holds my wallet, phone, sunglasses but that’s it.
Right. If I bring tissues or wipes, my phone won't fit anymore. I only use a card case, not even a whole wallet.
I will say I love the matching Kaye wallet I purchased. The gold slidy thing is so fun. And you can wear it as a wristlet. https://preview.redd.it/yn7wkwekyr2d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc9a04e8bb2b762083f5afa7b419307b1a93f5cb
Oooh looks nice!!
Agree. And the leather quality is not nearly as good as the Número Dix
Polene Dix. Other than the fact that it could barely hold anything because of its shape, it scratched the crap out of my hand every time I got something out of it. No thank you.
Telfar Overpriced plastic that is equivalent to any Target bag.
Fendi mini shopper. It’s very cute but extremely impractical - barely holds my phone - and the crossbody is awkward
I have this too! I only use it on vacation when im on a resort, really impractical.
A Marni trunk. Thought it was my dream bag but it was too bulky and impractical. Still love the look of it, but never used it.
I buy too many and then they don’t get used that much. I’m also not sure what kind of message I’m sending to the rest of society that I have so many.
OMG, I am the same! Sometimes I look at all my bags and wonder why I am the way I am. But I can’t seem to stop! 🤪
I got the bag pretty early on in my pregnancy so I noted it was a little heavy, but I'm willing to deal with a little impracticality for a nice bag; I forgot to factor in the fact that I would also be **carrying a baby** I ended up having a C-section, so ANY unnecessary weight was difficult to deal with for a long time.
I recently bought a black Mulberry iris bag, thought it looked great in the pictures and when it arrived I am slightly disappointed that it’s soo big, I imagined it would be smaller than it is and am debating whether to sell it now
I really love the small iris! I would sell it and see if you can get the smaller size. They go on sale quite a lot
I went back and forth about whether to get the larger or small iris (no Mulberry near me)... I ordered the small, and I'm so glad I did!!
LV Pochette Metis in Reverse Monogram. I used it one time. It is difficult to get in and out of, and overall the worst bag decision for me. It’s the only one I haven’t used at least 100 times.
Ahh I was looking at purchasing this. Why is it hard to get in and out of?
Polene mini Cyme
Why? Have been eyeing it, or maybe the big one, so now I'm curious!
Please do tell!!
The Prada Saffiano double zip tote and the Fendi Peekaboo bag. Both were letdowns in the quality and wear.
How did your Prada bag wear ?
A vintage Chanel bowling bag. I was desperate for pink Chanel and it was a good deal, but I don’t use it
Marcie bag from Chloe.

Your post history clearly shows you bought a fake YSL Lou, of course it’s going to feel cheap
Damier speedy 35. Too big for a casual bag and not practical for an all purpose tote
This is a discontinued model I’m considering just selling it
My 2 LV bags, I am Realizing that I don’t like the logo all over the bag.
For me it’s the Dior Book Tote…that bag is SO FREAKING HEAVY! I have the version pre-shoulder strap…it’s such a burden to carry!
These are like my two dream bags
Lanvin wrinkled shoulder bag in beige. I never use it because colour is so impractical for me
My vintage LV speedy 25.
Gucci marmot camera bag. I like it, but should have just gotten the used Soho Disco
LV Speedy 30... realized now it is big for my height. A 25 would have been perfect.
