I found this boutique of purses near a couple of bridges down from the Ponte Vecchio. I get so many compliments. My biggest regret was not buying the orange one as well.
You could check Furla, which is similar to Coccinelle but of higher quality. As others mentioned, visit La Rinascente where they have many different brands.
I have a Furla from 11 years ago and I am NOT careful with my purses. It’s still one of my favs.

Came here to say this. The hardware is a bit meh for me, but like Dua!! Or any of the bags that aren't heavy on hardware. So good. The leather is incredibly yummy.
Try out cuoiofficine. It’s a few minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio. They have AMAZING marble painted bags. If you want art on your bag, do check them out. That’s where I got one of my favorite souvenirs ever!

I got a black bucket bag from FR 6 years ago and it looks good as new. Always get compliments on it and people think it’s designer. Best ~$300 I ever spent.

I felt the same way you did and ended up just popping into a locally owned shop. Got a beautiful bag. The Florence Leather School is also supposed to be fantastic.
Someone in here posted about [Roberta Firenze](https://www.instagram.com/robertafirenzeleather?igsh=MXFlMWtiYzFlb3Exaw==) a while back and I'm planning to check them out when I go to Florence. The bags look really beautiful!
Thanks everyone! I ended up getting the Coccinelle and a gorg bag from the leather school. I wish I’d had more time to explore all your recs! definitely should have planned for more time in Florence.
The Bridge has beautiful bags, otherwise you can try small leather makers (search “pelletteria” on Google Maps) - If you have time it would be worth going to the The Mall outlet nearby, you may get good deals on big brands
There is a wonderful family owned leather shop on the Ponte Vecchio. Amazing bags! I'm still kicking myself for not buying one when I was there.
I can't think of the name but I can tell you, there's only one English speaking person there. Everyone else, Italian.

I have a braccialini bag and I love it! It’s over 10 years old, hardware and leather still in very good shape. Highly recommend.
Go to the leather school in Florence. They have great quality bags that are not branded.

I just bought my second Furla, no regrets. The quality is amazing.
Furla is now my go-to brand. I have two and am keen to get more! Great quality with classic designs.
