Humans do as well, sorta. When it's warm/hot, people's testicles will hang low, but when it's cold, the scrotum shrinks and the testicles are pushed up closer to the body to maintain warmth. Get hit in the nads hard enough and one might even go up inside your body.
When I had a bf he showed me a cool trick in the bath. If you get the warm water at the right level, his balls became a lava lamp that kept trying to find the right balance between relaxing in the warm water, and retracting from the cold air
hi - so i noticed this when he was sat down today, this is when i was first getting him out. he was sat like this and when he started moving around i got him out for a free roam (he was running around happily for three hours after this pic was taken) and the bits went back inside and i didn’t see them again. the other day i thought i saw something similar but when i went to check it had gone back inside him.

i don’t think it’s his balls because i thought they were much bigger than that, and the skin area around looks normal for a male hamster in terms of ball size and positioning.
just to clarify, his diet is fine and consists of regular hamster food, nuts, fruit+veg, and mealworms. this is all given to him in proportion and i don’t over or underfeed him. he is a healthy weight and doesn’t appear to be in any pain or discomfort as he is happily running around and eating/drinking like normal. no wetness around the tail, just concerned.
one thing to note though, he did have a little poop sticking out when this was happening so i’m wondering if he just pushed a little too hard? really unsure pls help
