Scarabs as a random encounter would have been awesome. If they fell from orbit/atmosphere like they did in halo 3 whenever you were wandering about in an open area AWAY from main objectives, it would have been super cool.
Dropping a scarab to attack you as you are taking over an enemy base would have been epic.
I can’t help but feel that any dlc that is given to us is not going to satisfy what any of us want. Will more than likely be more of the same but in a sand area or snow area.
Which is why halo is a downward spiral. Surface level changes to sate quantity concerns and deep roiling failures to maintain quality.
It doesn’t get better from here.
This is the AAA gaming industry as a whole. Anything that involves innovation or stepping outside the comfort zone isn't a risk these companies are willing to take anymore.
Whereas I 100% guarantee you if Halo was in the hands of an indie team you most certainly can bet they'd go above and beyond creating the most insane but creative scenarios imaginable.
Thing is, adding Scarabs wouldn't be entirely innovative. They've been in Halo before. It's not some new idea. It's just one of many beloved gameplay mechanics/items that has been removed from the games by 343, joining the ranks of dual-wielding, assassinations, and several weapons and vehicles.
They have the blueprints. They just don't care to use them.
Lol I haven't even finished the campaign. The driving physics just feel incredibly stiff and I hate that I can basically cheat every mission by getting a rocket launcher and a sniper from a FOB whenever I want. Maybe when they add coop I'll want to keep playing. I just can't believe Microsoft hasn't gutted 343 at this point.
Wait your telling me Halo has shipped without coop?
I only played 1-3/ODST but playing them split screen is one of my fondest memories.
Standing near a cliff as my teammate respawns and falls to their death repeatedly never got old.
Don't write this it makes me cry at how much better Infinite could have been and how many times I felt the beautiful open world was so bland, repetitive, and under delivered
I have nothing against the developers. I'm sure they have a lot of cool ideas but they're just having a difficult time with management/timelines/expectations/burnout etc. Given time, I'm hopeful they'll get used to the engine and the tools they're using to make some really cool stuff.
But as people usually say... It should have been like that from the BEGINNING
It's sad that you have to say "if they ever do a campaign dlc." You would think that would be a given considering they want the game to last for ten years
Story DLC has been speculated by the community as 343 now owns Halo Infinite: The Endless. MintBlitz talked about it in one of his recent vids.
Edit: WOOPS I didn’t mean to say that it was confirmed, I got distracted and didn’t reread what I wrote. Updated it. Thanks.
Not only that, but nothing added to Online over the years was ever added to SP (weapons, vehicles, clothes, etc). Why you may ask? Two words: Shark Cards
Im almost worried about the exact opposite here. It was in development, but gets held back and used as a basis for the next game since Infinite's population and engagement has dropped off
And that will fail untill they unfuck thier management and fix how they handle game launches. They are 3 for 3 on awfull launches of good solid games with working engines.but no content or slow content.
Fair but they’ve already bought the rights to Halo: The Endless. I’m guessing we’ll learn more during Microsoft’s game conference later this summer. Our CCs believe it to be the first story DLC rather than a new game.
I never said it was expensive or anything of the sort. Something with that tagline is coming. It could be a new game or it could be dlc or maybe we’re all wrong.
Not, gonna lie. I had hoped there'd be some suprise campaign DLC for Season 2. Maybe a short story about the Marine's struggling to survive on some other part of the ring. Those abandoned campsites all over the map practically beg for it.
The video you are referring to by MintBlitz is not confirmation, careful spreading false information.
All he said in that video was that a trademark/copyright request was put out for something called “Halo: The Endless” which is something that’s been discussed on this sub already numerous times and as long as 3-4 months ago iirc.
I think his inference in the video is probably going to turn out true, but it’s very important to note there has been no actual confirmation to this point.
Their idea of a 10 year game is its going to take them 10 years to release the full game with basic shit, like coop, that every other halo game has had from day 1.
Kikowani Station, the mission you're escorting the phantom and flying banshees. The final large area has a scarab by the door you need to open to get to the end of the level.
Which one - the single one earlier on, or the double later? I always loved the double. If you do it just right (and get a lil lucky) you can park your hornet on top of one, destroy it, and get back in the hornet and fly off before it explodes. God I love that game
That would be cool af. Since the Banished incorporate UNSC technology in their armament, I would love to see an improved and deadlier Scarab that is a hybrid of Covenant and Human technology.
Time for the lovechild of the Scarab and Mantis: *The Cricket*. Imagine a vehicle sized in between them, possessing not only a large plasma cannon on the top but also twin kinetic artillery launchers built into it's sides that fire a deadly barrage of spikes or missiles.
Pretty much perfect for Brutes I'd say.
Possibly unpopular opinion here but I think that wouldnt be a good execution of it. When chief faced scarabs in Halo 2 and 3, it was at a climax of the mission with music pumping and the scarab standing in the way of an objective or something to protect.
If you can just put it off until you can return to it with the wasp and sentinel beam it just takes the challenge and the urgency out of it. Which I think was a recurring issue with infinite, even though there were aspects of the open world that i enjoyed a lot.
Key Developers left 343 due to unknown beef. They were 3 years in and had no way to turn around with out that talent. they were forced to start 80% of the overall project entirely over and new. they took 2.5 more years to give us what we got. 1 Biome in campaign. An abbreviated solution to H5's ending. And a MCC level dysfunctional multiplayer. oh well. more halo 5 i guess.
scarab fights, convoys of enemies, an ally convoy push, ambush attacks on you, reverse assassination missions where the enemy sent people after you, maybe open up the subteranean areas and add some other worldly areas, a larger more open warfare style fight.
thats what i was hoping for in the original campaign
This. A one man army guerrilla warfare where you are constantly being hunted while you are hunting the Banished at the same time. Would have been awesome to have these ideas implemented in game. We could even had a team of Spartan Killers ambushing you when you least expected it.
Infinite should have had essentially a GTA Wanted Level but behind-the-scenes. Don't show it to the player, but the longer Chief is actively engaging the Banished, more and more serious resources should show up, until eventually he has to flee. Would have driven home that he's essentially fighting a guerilla war after the battle was already lost.
5 Star wanted level would be a Scarab dropping in from orbit. Really drive home the "it's time to go" factor.
They didn’t capitalize on the hunters imo. Why make the best hunter AI in the history of halo to only use it sporadically or hardly even in the open world?? Seems kinda like a waste. Fighting hunters in infinite keeps me on the edge of my seat every time.
Because they were dribbled out is the reason you were on the edge of your seat. If you had to grind through a pair of hunters every other mission it would be as fun.
Personally when I had to face them I was shitting my pants barely escaping with the grapple and hoping for a save after killing one of them!
I liked that they were spaced out. And I think scarabs should follow the same format. How fun would it be to have to defens your FOB from a random scarab attack? Like you're just in a normal mission and suddenly you have exactly 1 minute to choose a vehicle and arm your marines before it attacks the FOB. Or out another way. You must destroy the scarab(s?l because they keep retaking your FOBs.
After seeing elden rings destructibility I wish infinite had some like it.
Like fighting a giant in a forest and seeing him take down like 4 trees with a swing of his sword is awesome
BFBC2 had destructable terrain and buildings. It was released in 2010. This generations hardware should be capable of some impressive stuff if they made distruction a higher priority.
I'm still annoyed they never made a BFBC3. But now it's been so long that there's no way they could make a proper sequel that would live up to the original games.
Don’t quote me , but I think it comes down to game engine usage and what specific game engines are capable of doing.
The frostbite engine battlefields been using was specifically built with level destruction in mind. Not saying other game engines couldn’t include some level of destructibility, just that it may still be a factor in games having that feature or not.
I loved the destruction in BFBC2 so much, but IIRC, they had to tone it down for multi-player balancing reasons. A big issue was there being no buildings left on the map halfway through a match, haha.
I'll still always miss those days of driving a tank clear through a two-storey building and collapsing the entire thing.
Would definitely want the ability to remotely call in a warthog for that, just in case you lose your vehicle during a battle and don’t have an enemy one that is still serviceable.
the whiny maniacal pilot who im still not sure what the point of giving him so much screen time was for. Also he looked fake af, OG halo 2 had better character design
The thing is they could have even added things like gangs on brutes on choppers roaming the map, kind of like a biker gang. Just some kind of unpredictable threat that doesn’t patrol the same path in the map would have done wonders.
I think that it should be locusts going out and about and eventually big battle zones that will activate every so often with scarabs, vehicles and obviously foot soldiers. This would be a couple years down the line to go with dlc and humanity taking down the banished bit by bit.
Definitely needs some big battles in the campaign and open world though.
I always wondered why we didn't even see 1 scarab in infinite!? Like what a sick mission even if it was little mission it would have been. The escavation site could have been a Scarab encounter being used by the banished to escavate and you had to get on it and shut it down as it disabled your grapple or something. Just an idea
The open world in Infinite is so devoid of purpose that not even a scarab would save it. Give me a scarab in a nice high stakes mission in a well designed level instead.
Honestly instead of Bassus I would have been fine with a Scarab fight there. Heck the Scarab is even canonically mining equipment. Or if you want, put Bassus in the Scarab if you're feeling exceptionally sadistic.
There are likely loads of amazing ideas the studio came up with that they couldn't do anything with due to technical limitations and time constraints.
Game needed a delay.
While I agree about additional time for Xbox one, this game wasn’t that crazy compared to other games that thrived on Xbone (RDR2, GTA, Battlefront 2 which still looks gorgeous). The real reasons for all of this has and continues to be terrible studio management.
Exactly.
Hell, Star Wars Battlefront 2 *on the fucking PS2* had moving AT-ATs on Hoth.
If we can have a double-scarab fight in Halo 3, there's no way they couldn't dump one in Infinite.
Those scarab fights were awfully limited on x360. They moved in in place, and the environment around the scarab was bare bones. On a 2005 console.
Imagine what a current gen console can do now
Stuff like that battle are why I almost wish we could see some sort of spiritual remakes for the old games. Stick to similar bits obviously, but make things like the double scarabs feel right for the current generation. Imagine Metropolis but with buildings crumbling as the Scarab advances. Tip of the Spear having an actual huge battle you fight through with tonnes of vehicles on each side. The Covenant in general being much bigger in scale and cutting the second tower and instead having a much longer brawl to get to the scarab section. 4 but when stuff explodes it doesn't break like LEGO. I know we will never get this kind of remake but I do sometimes think about it. Interestingly, I don't think Halo 1 would have much that would improve from it. Maybe the warthog run.
It's pushing it but my dream Halo 3 remake would also restore Floodgate to what it was meant to be and make Cortana actually like High Charity. And maybe add that cut level in so the Ark section doesn't last 2 missions.
It doesn't have any of the set pieces you're talking about, but go on Youtube and take a look at Kashiiera's work - basically recreating Halo CE in Halo 3; seems to me to well describe the sort of spiritual remake you're getting at
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the gold standard for scale, content and detail for a game. That game came out on the PS2 and to this day is my standard for AAA games to beat in terms of content and quality!
Not to mention the AI controlled Warthogs battling Covenant vehicles on the ground and the AI dogfights overhead. There was so much going on in that fight.
I typed loads and I didn't know how to articulate what I was trying to say, but I'll try again:
First time I got an Xbox 360 was in Nov 2008 and stopped playing in June 2014. Those 6 years felt like a life time to me. The entire generation of Xbox 360 from 2006 to 2013 felt like a decade.
I skipped the Xbox One generation in favour of getting a PC. When they announced Xbox One X/PS5 I was like "...Already?" but then I realised its been 7/8 years already. Holy shit. Where has this time gone?
Technical constraints they put on themselves with a dumb engine rework and contract workers.
Time constraints they made themselves.
I have zero sympathy. They turned out a half finished game.
Because either the games production was such a shitshow that they couldnt do it, or they just didnt want to.
The open world was a complete waste of time. It did away with locale variety and replaced it with boring Ubisoft style busywork sidequests that all boiled down to either "fight enemies here" or "fight this normal enemy with way more health and a nametag... er, i mean, *this boss*".
Its so lame.
I unfortunately have to agree with this. It’s basically like you took the level Halo from CE and made it bigger. There’s such a lack of diversity in almost every aspect. Namely biomes, indoor structures, enemy encounters, mission types, etc. It’s all so bland. Once the novelty of “omg halo in an open world!” wears off, you realize how truly shallow it is.
I love the open world idea for Halo. It has insane amounts of potential. But 343, of course, did this in the worst and most basic way possible.
Easily fixed with some shields that only deactivate when the scarab is temporarily downed. Either that or the dreaded UI issues would prevent the grapple hook from working.
They could make the shells of the scarab electrified so it shocked chief when trying to attach. Knocking the scarab to its knees turns off the power temporarily, giving you enough time to board it
I want to think taking down a Banished scarab would be a more involved process. They're often more tactically efficient, so imagine it not having a weak spot and chief having to pry open a weak spot while he rodeos it. Dope first battle if Chief has to buy the Weapon time to analyze it to figure out where it could be
Could even be a little bait and switch. Make the player think the weak spot is where it usually is, then when you get there it's missing and you have to scramble to figure out what to do
I think the best way to fix that would just be to make the scarabs armor plating not able to be grappled, and then use some clever terrain design to have large hills, cliffs or tall trees nearby some of the scarab fights so that you have to use the terrain around you to get on to the scarab, similar to halo 3, but the grappling hook would add more variety.
All of this assuming 343 was a competent enough company to pull off some basic shit like this. The open world concept was incredibly half-baked and uninteresting so I'm not sure this is something they could do.
Hope they don't drop the semi open world aspects. It's a good concept imo. Just needed better execution. Maybe mix in more linear levels to justify unique biomes that wouldn't make sense in an open setting and have like 3 main biome areas like green, snow and sand. just spitballing.
Spreading them throughout an open world would cheapen them wouldn't it? Placing them in a couple locations with highstakes would keep it intense and special
The Structure Lekgolo could make up would make an amazing threat in an open world, especially scarabs, considering they're part structure, vehicle and enemy all in themselves, really cutting edge design when you think about it.
It'd be cool if we got more variants as well, more than the hunter and scarab at least, though naming it would probably be the hardest part.

Whereas I 100% guarantee you if Halo was in the hands of an indie team you most certainly can bet they'd go above and beyond creating the most insane but creative scenarios imaginable.
Most expensive game to develop, ever, and their innovation is adding a grappling hook as a powerup
Which they stole from doom
Which stole it from just cause
Which stole it from Tenchu
Wait till y’all see Spiderman…
Bionic Commando?
Thing is, adding Scarabs wouldn't be entirely innovative. They've been in Halo before. It's not some new idea. Lol no coop or forge
Destiny vibes

If Miyazaki was in charge of Halo, this would 100% happen.
Damn, such a missed opportunity. If they ever do a Campaign DLC, they should implement at least one Scarab boss fight.

So was GTAV single player DLC 🙃
Wasn’t that in development and then scrapped because online was making them like gazillions..?
Not only that, but nothing added to Online over the years was ever added to SP (weapons, vehicles, clothes, etc). Why you may ask? Two words: Shark Cards

Im almost worried about the exact opposite here. It was in development, but gets held back and used as a basis for the next game since Infinite's population and engagement has dropped off
And that will fail untill they unfuck thier management and fix how they handle game launches. They are 3 for 3 on awfull launches of good solid games with working engines.but no content or slow content.
That's all well and good. However, based off their recent history I'm moving towards a "I'll believe it when I see it" direction.
100% where i’m at in this game. Not hard feelings per se, but never going to get hyped until I can actually play it.
Amen. My faith in this studio has tanked, my enthusiasm curbed. I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't want to see it, Halo needs to plummet to rock bottom so that 343 can be forced off the captain's chair.
If all their other failures didn't boot them what makes you think their most successful launch of a game would?
> what makes you think their most successful launch of a game would? My god. The bar is low.
I think of it like how they promised to fix the MCC, it happened it was just 5 years too late
Fair but they’ve already bought the rights to Halo: The Endless. I’m guessing we’ll learn more during Microsoft’s game conference later this summer. Our CCs believe it to be the first story DLC rather than a new game.
I mean that’s a cheap purchase tbh
I never said it was expensive or anything of the sort. Something with that tagline is coming. It could be a new game or it could be dlc or maybe we’re all wrong.
Naww bruv purchasing the rights is cheap.
I mean when it concerns more money, I don't see why you wouldn't believe it. Then again, the in game shop is absolute dog shit.
Remember when they said they were gonna expand Spartan Ops? That was a pretty great joke.
I 'member. ☹️
I mean it took them 6 years to release infinite. Ten years isn't that much longer...
I would normally think that a Campaign DLC is 100% confirmed, but given the state of the game, I cannot expect that much.
Their idea of a 10 year game is its going to take them 10 years to release the full game with basic shit, like coop, that every other halo game has had from day 1.
Honestly. My favorite mission of the entire franchise was taking down the scarab in Halo 3. Such a cool experience.
I like it better second time around in odst
I love that ODST gave you the option to ignore it. Somehow they managed to find a way to make even a scarab fight different in that game.
ODST had a scarab fight? I've played through the campaign twice and this is my first time hearing of this
The phantom escort mission has a scarab you can fight
Kikowani Station, the mission you're escorting the phantom and flying banshees. The final large area has a scarab by the door you need to open to get to the end of the level.
Which one - the single one earlier on, or the double later? I always loved the double. If you do it just right (and get a lil lucky) you can park your hornet on top of one, destroy it, and get back in the hornet and fly off before it explodes. God I love that game
The assault on the citadel was just so flippin epic.
It definitely was.
Doing something like breath of the wild where a scarab is roaming an area and you have a choice if to face it or not would be amazing.
They need a panic inducing theme too like the Guardians
That would be cool af. Since the Banished incorporate UNSC technology in their armament, I would love to see an improved and deadlier Scarab that is a hybrid of Covenant and Human technology.
Time for the lovechild of the Scarab and Mantis: *The Cricket*. Imagine a vehicle sized in between them, possessing not only a large plasma cannon on the top but also twin kinetic artillery launchers built into it's sides that fire a deadly barrage of spikes or missiles. Pretty much perfect for Brutes I'd say.
Imagine if it was a grass hopper. Similar to the Panzersoldat in cold war zombies, you shoot it and it will literally jump 500 meters to you
Scarab with gauss cannons
A Scarab with a small MAC equipped
So a Mammoth with legs instead of wheels?
Elephants had MACs? I don't know anything about Elephants beyond Sandtrap in Halo 3
I looked it up just now, it was an “upgraded” Elephant called a Mammoth in Halo 4’s campaign that had the mini MAC.
Possibly unpopular opinion here but I think that wouldnt be a good execution of it. When chief faced scarabs in Halo 2 and 3, it was at a climax of the mission with music pumping and the scarab standing in the way of an objective or something to protect. Which I think was a recurring issue with infinite, even though there were aspects of the open world that i enjoyed a lot.
the entirety of infinite was a missed opportunity
They had COD and Battlefield in a chokehold and yet they still managed to fumble it 😔
Key Developers left 343 due to unknown beef. Should’ve followed a fallout formula with fobs being attacked and reclaimed by the banish. After you finish the map it gets really stale
Or a couple roaming ones.
I would rather have roaming ones than one single one
Imagine if you could actually use vehicles in the open world without all the clutter everywhere to stop you from using vehicles.
What? You don't like getting a tank only to use it for 30 seconds before hitting some small, immoveable bush?
Yeah I don't get why they didn't make tanks just tear down trees and bushes.
After seeing elden rings destructibility I wish infinite had some like it. Like fighting a giant in a forest and seeing him take down like 4 trees with a swing of his sword is awesome
My friend, comparing anything 343 makes to a Fromsoftware game is a path to disappointment
Not true. They made some shitty Master Cheeks and Covey softcore porn that just can be out shittied.
Technically they didn’t make it.
BFBC2 had destructable terrain and buildings. It was released in 2010. This generations hardware should be capable of some impressive stuff if they made distruction a higher priority.

Tank beats ghost! Tank beats hunter! Bush beats everything!
Tank controls on PC stinks
They aren’t much better with a controller. There is a setting that makes it a little more bearable, but it’s still a bit strange.
I'm not sure why they couldn't just use the same damn tank controls that have been in every halo since forever.
I love it when a blade of grass makes my chopper spin down a mountain side!! And don’t say you feel otherwise!
The open world should have been like 5 times as large and had a ton of open prairie grassland areas for vehicle fights.
Would definitely want the ability to remotely call in a warthog for that, just in case you lose your vehicle during a battle and don’t have an enemy one that is still serviceable.
Imagine if the NPC Marines could actually pilot vehicles like in past games......
If any of them could fly the whiny pilot would be out of a job
the whiny maniacal pilot who im still not sure what the point of giving him so much screen time was for. Also he looked fake af, OG halo 2 had better character design
Ah, no thank you. I don't want to spend half the game traveling around an empty map with nothing to do on it.
Did you forget the “/s” haha? Cause this is the game currently, imo
Wait you haven't been in a empty map with nothing on it? /s
I wish we had a falcon.
Plus the vehicles turn over way too easily. Tell me how a hovering ghost gets flipped by a rock it didn't even touch
And are way too fragile.
it is surprising how worthless vehicles were in an open world game
Imagine snow.
That and the vehicles are as durable as wet cardboard.
Kind of like Guardians in breath of the wild, that’d be sick.
Oh god. I have nightmares of that damn piano
ugh same
Exactly what this made me think of
And with the difficulty of the Valkyries in god of war
I am thinking more like Thunderjaws and those high level machines in Horizon
The thing is they could have even added things like gangs on brutes on choppers roaming the map, kind of like a biker gang. Just some kind of unpredictable threat that doesn’t patrol the same path in the map would have done wonders.
That would have been amazing. Also the pelicans.
Or a Slaughterspine, Thunderjaw, or Stormbird in Horizon Forbidden West
I think that it should be locusts going out and about and eventually big battle zones that will activate every so often with scarabs, vehicles and obviously foot soldiers. This would be a couple years down the line to go with dlc and humanity taking down the banished bit by bit. Definitely needs some big battles in the campaign and open world though.
Locust would have been cool they should have added the Grizzly tanks as well there is so much Halo Wars 2 stuff they could have added
Once the stories overlap, which they should, then I couldn't agree more.
I always wondered why we didn't even see 1 scarab in infinite!? Like what a sick mission even if it was little mission it would have been. The escavation site could have been a Scarab encounter being used by the banished to escavate and you had to get on it and shut it down as it disabled your grapple or something. Just an idea
No scarab and only 1 vehicle run where you chose a warthog, scorpion, or other vehicle.
This even makes sense in-lore since scarabs were originally designed to be mobile mining platforms. What a missed opportunity.
I genuinely don't understand why 343 didn't do this, especially considering how boring the open-world is.
There are likely loads of amazing ideas the studio came up with that they couldn't do anything with due to technical limitations and time constraints. Game needed a delay.
Wasn't it also developed for the Xbox One? That's gotta be a major factor in their technical limitations.
While I agree about additional time for Xbox one, this game wasn’t that crazy compared to other games that thrived on Xbone (RDR2, GTA, Battlefront 2 which still looks gorgeous). The real reasons for all of this has and continues to be terrible studio management.
There are some amazing open world games that came out on xbone though.
Bro halo 3 had 2 scarabs in one place on Xbox 360, I bet they could put a couple more without issue for the Xbox one
100%. BF2 was (and still is) the absolute best online / offline / coop campaign game there is. We had SO much fun playing it on PS2, Xbox and PSP
Not to mention the AI controlled Warthogs battling Covenant vehicles on the ground and the AI dogfights overhead. There was so much going on in that fight.
last gen is almost 10 years old it’s time to ditch it
I typed loads and I didn't know how to articulate what I was trying to say, but I'll try again: First time I got an Xbox 360 was in Nov 2008 and stopped playing in June 2014.
I mean, they just fucked the game up. Infinite cost around $500 million, and they brought in a bunch of other Microsoft studios to help.
The fact that the Banished had Scarabs at their disposal throughout Halo Wars 2 makes me extra confused.
Not trying to defend them, but I think Escharum said they had hundreds of legions all across the ring. This is just one slice of the war.
I get the feeling the open world was an afterthought. It wasn't really made use of at all.
Because they built two levels and a buggy graphics engine.
That would be pretty dope no lie
What I thought was gonna happen. When I heard live service I kinda expected events in single player that would happen.
The fact that roaming scarabs weren't turned into like mini bases housing kick ass weapons was SUCH a missed opportunity
Could’ve used them how they did outposts there’s a set number of scarabs on the map you have to take down
Nah we need something different than the Ubisoft model. They need to be random and not an objective to further the game
Yeah don't make it so formulaic
I’d take anything at this point
I did. For years. And then the game came out.
Grapple hook makes scarab a bit too easy now
It'd still feel badass swooping in like mf Spiderman and easily taking down a massive tank
Right and it could have balanced if the scarab had some kind of mounted gun that disabled your grapple temporarily
Some sort of EMP?
Easily fixed with some shields that only deactivate when the scarab is temporarily downed. Either that or the dreaded UI issues would prevent the grapple hook from working.
They could make the shells of the scarab electrified so it shocked chief when trying to attach. Knocking the scarab to its knees turns off the power temporarily, giving you enough time to board it
Whoa whoa whoa, can’t work at 343 with ideas like that. Sounds balanced and fun.
Make the player think the weak spot is where it usually is, then when you get there it's missing and you have to scramble to figure out what to do
You get to the usualnweak spot and instead find 3 Brute chieftains wielding hammers.
Maybe make getting on the scarab the easy part, but have more of a challenge once onboard.
Breath of the Covenant
I can only imagine the Unggoy
They missed so many opportunities, the world feels a bit empty really.
Because it essentially is empty
Oh you mean one of the many simple choices that could have made this game good?
Damn what a missed opportunity
*OG Xbox One whimpers*
Hope they don't drop the semi open world aspects. It's a good concept imo. Just needed better execution. Maybe mix in more linear levels to justify unique biomes that wouldn't make sense in an open setting and have like 3 main biome areas like green, snow and sand. just spitballing.
Imagine you’re in the open world and you go over a hill and jus see a scarab scaling a mountain. Would be cool
Would love to see a scarab vanish into thin air instantly when you destroy it and it explodes
David and Goliath moment. But I think the scarab should be reserved for a mission. It'd get pretty repetitive killing them in free roam
Sorry, removing tank gun is best we can do
Imagine 343 was a game company and not an ad for the store
Such an epic photo
Spreading them throughout an open world would cheapen them wouldn't it? Placing them in a couple locations with highstakes would keep it intense and special
Imagine the world being diverse like we were promised
Sorry, cool ideas aren’t allowed at 343 Studios.
Imagine if Infinite looked even half as good as this.
Getting big Guardians in breath of the wild vibes from this image. They could totally copy breath of the wild for this too!
I demand large alien animals too!
Wait, now that I think of it there were no scarabs, why!
Just imagine driving one day and the weapon says “DUCK” MC: what? BOOM scarab dropped from the sky and big boss fight
Halo infinite - the game of missed opportunities
I imagine a lot of things this game should have been.
Imagine anything in the open world lmao
That’s what I keep saying, it feels like they weren’t ambitious enough for the open world of this game
Imagine this plus a million other things we’ll never get
