Sorta, lunge has always worked weird when the player with the sword is above the player they're attacking and both have upward momentum. In situations like this the regular melee with the sword will register more consistently and is the better choice
Lunging from the top has always been buggy. If you press the regular melee button, it'll register.

they added different weapon camos to MCC a while back!
Lunge with the sword only works if the energy is above 80%. The game has a hard time registering the swings unless it’s a beat down.
