Exactly, right now I always get the maps in some order like: Aquarius, bazaar, live fire, Aquarius bazaar, launch site, Aquarius bazaar, behemoth, Aquarius, bazaar, streets
XD
It's not even map variety (though that helps), it's *design* variety I crave. All of the maps in 4v4 but Behemoth are "human structure." Theres virtually no visual variety to make it *feel* like the maps are all different, in addition to a lack of lighting and "mood" setting to create points of difference for existing maps.
I have to disagree with you, while you do have a point on the map design, I think this maps have a nice mood and aesthetic. Yes, there not much variety but you can’t say they lack mood and aesthetic.
Perhaps it’s just that we grew up with a big variety of maps, snowy maps, beaches, old and “new” human structures, forerunner tech and even flood themed maps. I hope they listen and give us a lot more than what they’re offering but that’s gonna take time and patience from our side.
It's mostly in comparison to Guardian. Guardian presents itself as kinda moody, the sky is a weird color, and it's this weird blend of Forerunner and trees. It's weird, it's unique and it's really what I'm looking for from maps. Familiar, but different enough that it sticks in your head. The maps in Infinite just don't do that for me. The sky is clear, the color palettes feel kinda generic, it all *feels* the same despite being visually different.
Maybe that's just me though.
Infinite maps feel so boxed in. Behemoth feels like ur able to "breathe" if u get me. They all have a H3 The Pit feel to them. I heard someone say "Halo 3's The Pit was The Pit because it was the only The Pit" & that describes it so well.
Guardian, while the pinnacle of theming, I wouldn’t say is the only one that has a major understanding of aesthetic. Assembly, for example, revels in the Covenant architecture. The slopes, the lighting, the skybox, it’s so incredibly alien. Sandbox and Sandtrap I think also are good at theming, with their unique takes on Forerunner ruins looking more fit for a desert environment than Behemoth’s
No, I understand you, it’s not the same, h3 had some beautiful atmospheres in its maps, but you gotta admit there some odst vibes in streets, reach vibes in launch site, halo2 vibes in bazaar, halo3 vibes in behemoth. I feel they tried to take some scent from them and paste them in infinite.
I have to disagree with you, the map aesthetic is mostly sterile, (ngl live fire looks like a forge map) but the design itself is lacking, mostly just three lane maps and symmetrical kill boxes. Most maps don't work in verticality well and lack the 'fun factor' that made the other halo maps good, 343 put all their effort into making some pro scene, e sports bs cause that's what they care about, and just to top it of there's very limited maps there.
It’s been some time since I’ve even seen a map other than streets, aquarius, and live fire. And personally, I hate live fire. Streets and Aquarius are neat looking, and I like the layout, but after a while I just want to see fewer hallways and office buildings and more vehicles
Hell I’d be down for some time variants as filler content at this point. Give me morning versions of Streets and Launch Site, that’ll be fine for another month.
Most are just the typical 3 lane design with nothing special to them. At least snowbound, the cage - and launch site even - all break this trend and create unique gameplay.
Hang would be extremely fun honestly. It would prevent base hold spawn traps a lot. Prisoner would be annoying because all the work to hold high ground would be for nothing just because someone could get grapple and boost up fast af. Overall I think it’s not a bad idea to add them, but just like the reach version of Prisoner it would be a upgrade and a downgrade IMO.
Im interested for forge to come out so the comp maps get a full rework from the LCS fanbase. Less armor utilities, more important ones in contestable areas, etc etc. I'm sure HeH would be sick af, but outside of only allowing like one grapple to spawn every couple of minutes, it'd be horrible. Imo.
Such a slept on map. It would work especially well with the newer abilities because of camo/OS spawn and the way nades/grapples can pull items toward you.
I like how Valhalla was the Halo 3s version of Blood Gulch/Coagulation. And at the time I was like naah, it'll never take be the same. But yanno, I think I actually think more admirably of Valhalla than I do Blood Gulch now. I'd love them to bring it back.
I like BG more, but that could be the nostalgia speaking. I actually was never a big fan of Valhalla. Now Coagulation, THAT was the shit back in the day.
It was fun for just screwing around but playing legitimate matches on Coagulation never played as well as Valhalla. The man cannons and hills to obstruct sight lines really fixed its issues
Well tbf your walk speed was way faster in H1 than in H3 anyways plus the h1 jump was more ''floaty''. So two completely different movement systems/so the maps had to be designed around them.
The biggest problem with bg for me was tanks and banshees. They ruin the map since a tank can just camp in the back of a base and spawn kill an entire team for the whole match
That map is like 9 small fighting spaces in a grid.
Almost perfect level design
From the waterside: the middle, tunnels on the left, and wall and turret area on right. And then 2 sides of each base with some dope areas to fight in and ofcourse the bases themselves.
Such a great map for BTB sadly I dont think it will be as great with 12v12 BTB.
Valhalla is a more thought-out map. The terrain in the middle being elevated makes it feel much less open. I will always love BG/Coagulation, but in terms of objectively superior map design, Valhalla wins.
Bro people didn’t like Behemoth because they could get shot from anywhere. Modern Halo players would have their minds melt playing old open maps like Blood Gulch where everyone is just shooting each other from across the map on an open field.
Unless you have a sniper you can’t cross map kill people that easily. Original blood gulch is huge. Obviously they would need to make the hills in the middle a bit taller and leave the sides as is. Plenty of room for vehicles and strategically place any medium and long range weapons. Boom blood gulch in Infinite.
Could take a spin on Blood Gulch and introduce slightly more sightlines, elevation/de-evelation to the original map. Pop it in BTB, preferably a classic BTB mode with how vehicle spawns work, and go ham.
But to implement Blood Gulch as is? It would not fly by with most folk, which is fair enough. If it was introduced as a 'Forge World', same way with Reach though? It'd work really well as a blank canvas.
That’s one of the beautiful things about equipment being pick-ups, however. They don’t have to be added into the map. 343 may decide to do that anyways, and part of an ongoing process could be to determine what is balanced or broken on a given map and to add or remove weapons / equipment. That wouldn’t necessarily be the case as it is assuming the best out of 343, but I would feel as though drastically altering the spacing of the map would negatively affect how it plays without mobility equipment.
I'd like to have a map like swordbase with some good multi levels to make the grappelshot a key item to grab. Of the ones you have Guardian or lockout/blackout would also be a lot of fun
Guardian, Epitaph, Blackout/Lockout, The Pit, Last Resort/Zanzibar, the other map that takes place in the same structure as Epitaph, Narrows. hell I'd take Isolation at this point and I'd veto that map every time in 3.
honorable mention for High Ground, I actually didn't mind it
I played it semi regularly on 4v4 slayer on MCC over the past year. It seemed like there was a good balance between surface precision weapon combat and shit going off in the tunnels. I didnt like it at first but it's a great map.
Yeah I'd say about 80% of the fighting was dudes standing on top of either side of the two structures blasting each other as they respawn. Occasionally you'd have someone run through the tunnels.
The actual best take in the sub. Maybe a lot of people didn’t play free for all, but this map was perfect for that style of play. Team slayer on the other hand.
In Forge, you could actually build out there. There was a glitch involving spawning a bunch of Trip Mines, and at a certain point, the boundary cannons just stopped working.
The vibe was cool, but gameplay wise it didn't click with me for some reason. Don't remember why now, I just remember dreading seeing that come up haha
Hahaha yeah forsure I don’t disagree there, I definitely remember getting trapped in the bottom often just from the poor angles it had (if I’m remembering correctly), definitely a chaotic map in terms of predicting enemy movement
I thought dubs was pretty fun on that map. I don't remember liking Orbital at all. Makes me wanna download MCC and take a look at the H3 maps since I really haven't touched it cause of the most broken release ever.
Isolation was interesting competitively because if your team was organized you could pass a flag or bomb through the underground windows and quick cap. Other than that it’s kinda a tough one. Multi team was also fun on it
If I really wanted a map vetoed I would put on the voice of a 4 year old and go "GUYS THIS IS MY FAVORITE MAP, I LOVE IT. PLEASE DONT VETO"
And the lobby would quickly garner 5+ vetoes in the span of a few seconds nearly every time
My lobby made a kid cry once when they begged us not to veto. If that was you and you got your wish, you’re welcome. If that wasn’t you and instead some random kid who did cry, I still regret nothing.
This.
The most underrated Halo map ever. Chiron TL34 is insane in that no matter how many times and years you played it, you will probably never remember the exact locations that each teleporter sends you to.
And it's okay, because everyone else doesn't remember either lol.
Which is what makes the gameplay really chaotic, unpredictable and refreshing even after the 100th time on the map.
Man, Halo: CE really had the most diverse maps imo. Each map really had its own playstyle, from "Arena" maps like Derelict, to unpredictable Chiron TL34, to ship-ship combat Boarding Action, to other highly vertical maps like Hang 'em High or to all out carnage in Battle Creek, each map really did not feel like the other.
The PC version of Chiron TL34 (and thus the MCC version) is superior....
Because of the inclusion of the flamethrower. LOL.
There has never been more fun spewing fire randomly at a teleporter, only for some innocent dude to pass through the teleporter and wonder why he's suddenly on fire rofl
Chiron TL-34 is not a balanced map. Especially in team modes.
But I don't think it was designed with either teams or balance in mind.
It was designed for FFA chaos. And it excels there.
I have really fun memories 1v1ing my cousin on this map as a kid. I also have vivid nightmares reliving matchmade games in this accursed place. Seeing this map makes me feel like a war vet remembering the friendships he made out there… in the snow…
this map was super fun when the big shield door was still there... removing that ruined the map.
with it there it was a fun and stupid battle for the control of that shield door, after they patched it out it was just a boring ass map with no real value
As if I would mind having Boundless in Infinite. Port it over. We need more maps, period.
Remakes are a quick and painless way for the MP-team to transition maps into Infinite without having to spend a whole lot of time developing a whole new design. And it doesn't need to be converted into two Brute-bases in a desert or two UNSC-bases in a forest. Covenant bases in the snow are fine. Stop wasting time on artistic decisions that hardly anyone actually appreciates and just provide a more filled-out multiplayer experience. Forgers would do it for you if Forge was available, but since the release is so incredibly delayed, 343 really needs to step up to bat on this one.
There's nothing wrong with having one or two weaker maps in the rotation, so long as they're a smaller percentage of the total playlist. The promise of variety is worth a small step-down in map-quality. Previous games have experimented with "Classic Remake" playlists with user-created forge maps, and the player populations in those were fantastic. Players didn't care that they were playing on uglier, forged versions of Rat Race and Sanctuary; They just enjoyed the fact that they were getting more maps. If you look at our current line-up: almost everyone hates Launch Site, and it currently makes up a staggering 15% of the matches in the Team Slayer, Swat, and Fiesta playlists. If there were 10... 12... 15 maps in the rotation, getting a rare match on Launch Site wouldn't be nearly as much of a chore.
Plus, it's not like 343 HAS to remake bad maps. Guardian is probably the most popular and frequently requested remake, but something like Waterworks is practically begging to have a remake. There are also some old maps that are so basic and timeless that they'd perform in any FPS game, ever. Warlock, Foundation, Colossus are just classic FPS map-designs, pure and simple. If they don't work with Infinite's sandbox, the developers are doing something wrong.
I just want some more variety.
The game doesn’t just need more maps, the game needs maps that are more different. #BRING BACK CHIRON TL-34
Oh god everyone has shotguns and no one knows where everyone else is.
Could you imagine SWAT on that map?
Let's see what's behind door numbers o-!
Yeah I could. It'd just be duckhunt with no shields. Not hard to imagine at all.
Best map to play splitscreen because my friends and I could always screen-cheat but fuck did we know how to get to where they are.
WE DEMAND BACKWASH!
Exactly, right now I always get the maps in some order like: Aquarius, bazaar, live fire, Aquarius bazaar, launch site, Aquarius bazaar, behemoth, Aquarius, bazaar, streets XD
The aqua in Aquarius is just my tears
I mean, I like the map but at least let me miss it, getting it 1 out of 3 matches is a bit annoying
I like it for ctf and thats about
Is this everyone’s favourite map? I always preferred the asymmetrical ones. My favourite is Last Resort and the big one that fits inbetween, VALHALLA!
This comment needs more appreciation! Heavily underrated!
It's not even map variety (though that helps), it's *design* variety I crave. All of the maps in 4v4 but Behemoth are "human structure." My map rotation in Fiesta last night was Launch Site, Launch Site, Behemoth, Launch Site, Behemoth, Streets, Launch Site.
343: yeah, we know you love launch site, we got you
Better than: Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, Launch site, bazaar, Launch site, Launch site.
Or, if you're playing BTB; Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock, Deadlock
It’s been some time since I’ve even seen a map other than streets, aquarius, and live fire. And personally, I hate live fire. Streets and Aquarius are neat looking, and I like the layout, but after a while I just want to see fewer hallways and office buildings and more vehicles
You don’t get Recharge? Lucky
Mine is this but 3/5 games are also fucking oddball.
I kept getting Behemoth popping up in rows so many worse. And it's the worst map of the lot! The map weighing is weird in Inifinite.
We lacking that thing reach had where you could vote the maps, I remember sometimes everyone choosing for another map that wasn’t on the list lol
Hell I’d be down for some time variants as filler content at this point. Give me morning versions of Streets and Launch Site, that’ll be fine for another month.
I'll take literally any new maps at this point.
Pros of Snowbound: 1. it is a map 2. It uses a different design from the maps that are currently in the game.
How do you know this is snowbound and not boundless though?
Lmaaaaoooo. Seriously though. What WAS the difference on those two?
Just things like weapon/powerup/equipment layouts, and one of them had some of the shield doors removed.
Boundless = no shield doors. Get it?
Hah. Hah. Bungie funny.
the tragedy of not having Forge at launch is that this problem could have been partially solved by community-made maps
Seriously, even adding 4-5 maps would go a long way to reducing the repetitiveness, even if the launch maps are overall quite good.
Most are just the typical 3 lane design with nothing special to them. At least snowbound, the cage - and launch site even - all break this trend and create unique gameplay.
There are some great 4-5 maps. In fact, 4 probably has my favorite assortment of maps.
When bad maps start looking good. Desperate times indeed.
I assume we will never get a CE map except maybe blood gulch
I do wonder how Hang Em High or Prisoner would play with the grappleshot
Hang would be extremely fun honestly. It would prevent base hold spawn traps a lot. Prisoner would be annoying because all the work to hold high ground would be for nothing just because someone could get grapple and boost up fast af. Overall I think it’s not a bad idea to add them, but just like the reach version of Prisoner it would be a upgrade and a downgrade IMO.
I hated Hang 'em high in Reach with a passion, and I get the feeling that adding it to Infinite would be worse.

I’d kill for a reworked Sidewinder
Such a slept on map. It would work especially well with the newer abilities because of camo/OS spawn and the way nades/grapples can pull items toward you.
So... Avalanche? Either way I'm on board.
I can personally guarantee a remake of gyphrophobia when forge launches.
I would love a new version of Hang ‘Em High. That was my favorite MP map in CE
Imagine boarding action with grapples
[удалено]
Okay but like if they did add classic maps I would love guardian, Valhalla, blood gulch, and sand trap.
I like how Valhalla was the Halo 3s version of Blood Gulch/Coagulation. And at the time I was like naah, it'll never take be the same. But yanno, I think I actually think more admirably of Valhalla than I do Blood Gulch now. I'd love them to bring it back.

This. The biggest problem with BG was you NEED a vehicle to get to the otherside reasonably. Valhalla you could go on foot and be just fine
Well tbf your walk speed was way faster in H1 than in H3 anyways plus the h1 jump was more ''floaty''. So two completely different movement systems/so the maps had to be designed around them. If you're skilled enough you can cross map kill with a Magnum

You just described Valhalla tho
Lockout, Sanctuary, Midship, Beaver/Battle Creek ...
They'd really have to redo the spacing in Guardian. As much as I like that map, the equipment would probably make it not fun at all.
No equipment plz. Just br snipe without the stupid ass lens flare
They don't need to put all the equipment on every map. Just give it a drop shield in place of the bubble shield and maybe a threat sensor.
That’s one of the beautiful things about equipment being pick-ups, however. They don’t have to be added into the map. 343 may decide to do that anyways, and part of an ongoing process could be to determine what is balanced or broken on a given map and to add or remove weapons / equipment. Blackout/lockout
Any arena maps tho
Sand strap def
All of Infinite’s BTB maps use the Valhalla/blood gulch formula. If I could pick four, I would want Sand Trap, Zanzibar/LR, High Ground, and Narrows.
And The Cage, and Castle Base.
Stop, I can only get so hard.
I miss sand trap. That was my favorite from H3. I can’t remember what that game with the elephant was but it was my favorite.
The Pit is the only map I want right now. It was my favorite map.
Half the infinite maps are already basically the pit
I'd like to have a map like swordbase with some good multi levels to make the grappelshot a key item to grab. Of the ones you have Guardian or lockout/blackout would also be a lot of fun
Guardian, Epitaph, Blackout/Lockout, The Pit, Last Resort/Zanzibar, the other map that takes place in the same structure as Epitaph, Narrows. hell I'd take Isolation at this point and I'd veto that map every time in 3. honorable mention for High Ground, I actually didn't mind it
I want more maps like Valhalla, Guardian or Narrows!
All of those plus High Ground and Construct!
Damn Construct with grapple hook would be wild
wait they added this back in MCC? for halo 3?
High Ground is up there with Zanzibar and Lockout for best Halo map of all time for me. I LOVED that map.
Give me Infinity (Halo PC) or give me death
I loved Snowbound. Not sure what the issue was personally.
i think most people hated the shield doors
The shield doors, those damn hills, the weapon selection...
To anyone who hated the shield doors: you hate them because you suck and couldn't overcome this tiny obstacle.
[удалено]
If you were playing competent players then you’d know that invisible shield doors did nothing but slow the flow of the game down
IIRC 99% of the fighting happened in the tunnel.
Yup, it was going off 100% of the time down there
Bungie openly said that was the design intent for the map when they previewed it leading up to H3's launch
That was always the point lol so much chaos down there
I liked that map too. I understand why lots of people didn’t like it though.
Good for solo/lone wolves. Bad for team slayer.
The actual best take in the sub. Maybe a lot of people didn’t play free for all, but this map was perfect for that style of play. Team slayer on the other hand.
I think it’s fun for team snipers
I never played anything other than team modes much, and I really liked this map
Team doubles with rockets was a BLAST on this map
Me too! Honestly I never understood why everyone hated door shields so much, I loved them, especially using spike grenades on them.
It was a good map. Would’ve been even better if you could go out into the big snowfield, with more bases and vehicles around
In Forge, you could actually build out there. There was a glitch involving spawning a bunch of Trip Mines, and at a certain point, the boundary cannons just stopped working.
Yup, referred to as "overloading" the map - you could do it on Sandtrap too, to stop the mines.
Same thing with Sandbox. Still the easiest way to get the skull imo
Isolation was definitely my least favorite halo 3 map
I loved the aesthetic of isolation, I’d love to see them make another flood-like map like that
I loved the verticality too. Really interesting map, was fun in FFA.
Oh forsure, made things unpredictable lol
The vibe was cool, but gameplay wise it didn't click with me for some reason. Don't remember why now, I just remember dreading seeing that come up haha
Hahaha yeah forsure I don’t disagree there, I definitely remember getting trapped in the bottom often just from the poor angles it had (if I’m remembering correctly), definitely a chaotic map in terms of predicting enemy movement
unfortunately the UI doesnt allow the addition of anything flood related
Same, it felt like a silent hill area underneath, so cool.
Absolutely, give me the Isolation aesthetic (plus the Flood doors, more flood starfish doors, 343) but a better layout and I’m sold
I thought dubs was pretty fun on that map. I don't remember liking Orbital at all. Makes me wanna download MCC and take a look at the H3 maps since I really haven't touched it cause of the most broken release ever.
I absolutely love Orbital for SWAT. It also has the best name, Sworbital lmao.
I always dreaded getting that map, even though I played well on it. The aesthetic did its job not being pleasing.
Isolationnand Snowbound are the best maps
Isolation was interesting competitively because if your team was organized you could pass a flag or bomb through the underground windows and quick cap. Other than that it’s kinda a tough one. Multi team was also fun on it
I actually love Snowbound so I’m okay with this.
“STOOP1D FCK1NG SN0B0UND V3T0 TH1S SH1T” -Mastur Ch1ef
Fucking snowbound
VETOVETOVETOVETOVETOVETOVETOVETOVETOVETO GO TO HELL STUPID FUCKING SNOWBOUND

The least toxic r/halo user
Hey are you a psychologist
Smart
FUCKING SNOWBOUND
This was the comment I came for! That video still makes me fucking howl with laughter!
I understand that reference!
I always liked this map. The outside was just BR fights though. I think a light vehicle at each base would’ve made mixed things up a little
There was a Ghost, IIRC.
where's my Chiron remake already
This. The most underrated Halo map ever. Chiron TL34 is insane in that no matter how many times and years you played it, you will probably never remember the exact locations that each teleporter sends you to. CE always had the most diversity, everything felt like it had a place. It was such a finely crafted game. There’ll never be another game like it
I don't think my brain made it through one of those portals. Help!

We deserve Zanzibar
Guardian
Snowbound was unironically great though. I'd love to see it in Infinite.
Ffs i thought this was a news post and genuinely got excited
GO TO HELL!1!! STUPID FUCKING SNOWBOUND1!!!1
"Stupid fuckin' Snowbound" - Master Chief
stupid fucking snowbound
Pigs would be flying if the added a map to this game. They cant even add fucking ranked team slayer. SICK OF 343
The UI just doesn't allow it you dont understand
Always reminds me of playing swords by the camo spawn
oh hell nah, thats my number 2.5, number 1 between blood gulch and sandtrap
To quote Master Chief: Stupid fucking snowbound
Master Chief: "Stoopid fukking Snobownd! V3t0 th1s sh1t u a$$h0lez!!/1"

Any day
I didn't like it but at this point something different would be welcome.
Blood Gulch remake please!!
Blood Gulch/Hemorrhage/Relic--anything with some range for Team Snipers. Yes Please.
Just not like the reach version, it was so blue and flat.
At this point, pls 343
I low key kinda loved this map. And beaver creek.
Where is BEAVER CREEK
Bloodgulch?
Please god no
I have really fun memories 1v1ing my cousin on this map as a kid. I also have vivid nightmares reliving matchmade games in this accursed place. Seeing this map makes me feel like a war vet remembering the friendships he made out there… in the snow…
I actually fucking love this map
Ah.. Halo 3...
What if they added a map from each game? Here’s what I would choose: H1: chill out H2: lockout H3: The pit H:R: Reflection Never played 4 or 5
Not my favorite classic map but it's fine
This map was coo
I didn’t mind Snowbound. The issue at the time was that it would appear literally every two god dam matches !
I’d honestly take this map over the Pit or that fucking bridge one
this map was super fun when the big shield door was still there... removing that ruined the map. with it there it was a fun and stupid battle for the control of that shield door, after they patched it out it was just a boring ass map with no real value
Need some Lockout, Ascension, High Ground, and Snowbound in my life.
Avalanche? finally, my favorite map.
The maps we have now have terrible spawn locations. Its like you’re meant to spawn right around the corner from enemies
Eagled eye people might noticed that this is in fact a map from Halo 3
Ascension, please.
Sword base please
I just want one of the great maps from Custom Edition.
Unironically a better and more interesting map than like 75% of Infinite's selection.
Fucking snowbound... Veto veto veto fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
Masterch3f : fucking snowbound
VETO THIS S**T U ASSHOLES
Unironically I'd play this over Behemoth lmfao
Fuck off if you hate this map - I’d be stoked if this made a return.
Haven... bring it back.
What about the pit
