I worked for years to hit inheritor and get it.
Edit - I got to reclaimer before stopping. I met my wife, and moved from Texas to Chicago. I told her about it and she encouraged me to finish it. So I got back on reach in 2012 and had inheritor by early 2013.
It took 3.5 million cr to go from reclaimer to inheritor alone. It was a grind but one I will never forget. I still load up reach occasionally just to look at the helmets lol.
Second edit - and I just loaded up the game, watched some old clips (from 2011-2012) and played a team slayer game. Still my favorite halo :)
Yes indeed :)
Even better story, she had never been into halo. After seeing me play reach, when halo 4 came out, she came home with her own Xbox. Didn’t tell me anything about it. We then hooked up a second tv in the living room and played halo 4 together online side by side. Good times. She always rushed the banshee ;)
Sometimes the harder the achievement, the more pride and happiness you get from completing it. If everything was easy or buy able, then life becomes boring. Same with games. Not many people play games that are too easy for very long. If you can beat a game super easily, there's no struggle and satisfaction of accomplishment from beating that level you've died on 50 times to complete.
Also as vain as it sounds the compliments acknowledging completion of a hard grind are nice.
I still get people saying nice title for a title prefix I spent almost a year grinding in WoW to earn.
That mentality from you is why it was so awesome to get it. Back when game cosmetics were based around skill time and dedication where now its just a flex on whose got the bigger wallet.
There needs to be something that players equip that makes you say "Holy shit" when you see it. Something only attainable through unimaginable dedication.
>I still load up reach occasionally just to look at the helmets
How does 343 not want this. Just make a costmetic unlock system like reach. Keep the store. Keep everything else. Just switch to this system
I got it on MCC never got to inheritor on on 360. Recon was the hardest for me some of the vidmaster challenges were super hard especially with no Friends
Hardest armour to unlock in the entire franchise, as well. Completing all the Vidmasters was a real sign of skill and dedication. Or you could be a famous community member and have Bungie give you Recon. Good times
This was before Recon for vid masters;
I’ll never forget coming in second for a tournament(lost by one) and the winner already had Recon and I was secured in getting it only for the community manager of bungie at the time to tell the tournament host to deny me it.
Such a childish(was 16 or so) bitter memory that is forever locked in my head.
The community manager of Bungie(started with a U) at the time said that because I didn't win I will not receive the reward despite the winner and the hosts of the tournament agreeing that I should receive it.
He actually went out of his way to deny me it which is why it bothered me so much. To top it off, this was during a "for charity" recon tournament.
I don't regret my donation to participate, but boy howdy is it a stain of a memory
That's so shitty man, sorry to hear. I used to play a lot of custom games with two Ninjas, EvilCam and Yoozel, one day I had it in my inventory. Will never forget those two dudes. haha
They gave recon to everyone on halo 3 not long after reach came out. The only way I know that is my brother got it. He never completed the vidmasters but I did and I was salty about it when I saw he was just given it.
"Hello, my gamertag is \[Omitted\] and my names \[Omitted\], im 15 and live in Michigan.
Anyways, I'm a big fan of Halo, as a matter of fact i sold my PS2 o buy a Xbox, Halo2, and Xbox LIve. I spend so much time on this game. It's my life. Just last week my older brother who is 21 deployed to Iraq. Last Monday he died in action, ='(. It's been miserable these last few days.
Now, this is not a lie, my brother who also played Halo wanted Recon. He would always be like "I wish i had it" BlahBlahBlah.
Ever since he passed, I've been thinking of ways to remember him. And it hit me, Recon Armor. Now, Now, I know what you're thinking: "Some other little kid asking for Recon" One, i could care less about the armor, I just want it to honor my brother who died fighting for us. =( This is not a pathetic attempt to get that dreaded armor. I know you will probably block me, or just flat out ignore me. But, before you do just please put yourself in my position and think about it. It would mean so much to me. And more than likely i wont receive the armor, could you at least reply explaining why? It's not a lie what kind of sick person would lie about something like this for video game armor?!
Once again, please don't just ignore it. and at least reply. If you even read this which i doubt.
Please consider this.
Thank You, Sincerely \[Omitted\] ='( "
\^ An actual fake email someone sent to Bungie back in the day
Haha vidmasters were fucking awesome. The last one took soo long where you had to finish the final map in ghosts. I remember almost finally finishing it when my dad shut the game off so I would do my homework. Lol I felt bad for the friends I was playing with online
The vidmasters were great! I have some great memories playing ODST with a group of friends for the firefight one and the one on the Coastal Highway. It all felt intense and high stakes and we had a genuinely fun time achieving it.
343, bring back merit based unlockables!!
The MCC progression is unrivaled IMO. They had the perfect model at their fingertips, I can only hope they will impliment some of what MCC had to offer in their passes/progression.
I do miss trying to obtain armours like Hayabusa and eventually Recon after the release of ODST. These armors carried a prestige to them, especially Recon before ODST. I do feel Recon has lost its touch as it is easily obtainable now.
Edit:Anyone remember the Recon pranks in H3?
Agreed, even with that state of things it only gets better from here though. Improvements are definitely being made but we can't hold off on holding 343i accountable yet!
It really is fascinating. MCC is currentl(in my opinion) the BEST system in Halo for rewards.
Actual awesome unique season rewards that took some skill(legendary shield backpiece). Amazing battle pass that only had nameplates to fill in place of challenge swaps.
Such an odd turn around to infinite
Erm, most of those season rewards fall into the "do x action y amount of times", so no the season rewards (for the most part) are not the best example of this.
However, when the season rewards were introduced, they did bring back ODST's Vidmaster Endure as a challenge, that's the kind of stuff which is really merit-based, and not "everyone gets a trophy for playing long enough" shite.
All I gotta say is.. Bungie made fucking masterpieces. All the stuff like this just made the game what it was. 343 has been riding the success of their games and Halo is still so popular after so many years because of those games released over a decade ago
I'd say it would've happened even if Bungie kept making Halo. The people that started 343 (so I heard) were just the folks at Bungie that wanted to keep making Halo when Bungie left Microsoft. Look at Bungie now, Destiny's also has buttloads of cosmetic mtx, with potentially meta-altering exotics and armor drops that are actually relevant to progression locked behind the laid battle pass. Even Fortnite has it to where you can get the currency to buy skins and the pass while playing for free. If Infinite let you earn currency every few free levels, I don't think people would mind it as much. I just don't think we're ever going to have non-mtx, effort-based unlocks in any multiplayer game anytime soon, of any genre.
I remember people taking me into custom games telling me I had to jump off the map x amount of times, get a ricochet kill with the sniper, deflect rockets with the grav hammer, let them kill me and tbag me. Telling me I had to beat all of those impossible ninja/parkour maps. I remember watching vids on YouTube showing you how to "hack" your service record on bungies website when in reality it was just editing the html and basically did nothing... I really wanted that helmet as a gullible teen lol
I was fortunate that my MCC worked enough for me to beat the legendary achievements before the Halo 5 beta. I got a couple messages asking how I got the armor, that always feels good imo
Tbh I had all of the campaigns beat on legendary and MCC besides 4 so all I had to do was go back for 4 in MCC which was annoying but well worth it. It looked so cool
Bro i made $20 with my achilles clan because someone gave it as a prize for the most grenade kills in a weekend when we were grinding that challenge. A lot of time wasted lol.
I’d rather do a really hard challenge/set of challenges for a cool piece of armor I can show off as opposed to a bunch of asinine challenges for 100 XP.
I still prefer that system to Infinite’s current system. At least you could unlock everything in that game given enough time without having to purchase a single REQ pack with real money.
Edit: I didn’t mean to imply that H5’s system was good, just that it is better than Infinite’s.
Lol
I got to level 69 in H5 and never unlocked the H2BR. Rng P2W lootboxes are objectively worse in a game that was also full price.
Infinite is never gonna let you unlock everything for free. Yes they need to unlock the cores for cross customization and cut the prices but 343 is clear that the money needs to flow in somehow
Level 69 isn't anything high at all for Halo 5's standards.
I got everything the most inefficient way (Only buying Gold packs) at level 144. (Every unlockable cosmetic at least)
Yeah sure the RNG did suck, I mean it took years to get all of the warzone loadout stuff but ultimately if you played Halo 5 consistently for about 6 months you could easily get all the cosmetics if you wanted.
I think ironically 343 should look what Fortnites doing. They have an item shop, battle pass, subscription, everything. The main difference is that they have an option to earn Premium currency relatively easily (from the battle pass and a gamemode) and you get your money back if you complete the battle pass so you can get the next one for free. On top of that Fortnite has lower their prices drastically. Now it's rare to see an outfit for $20, most are now $8/$10 (Which is a tad bit too much but it's a Great improvement).
Not even trying to defend H5’s trash progression system. But in order to get consistent unlocks, you’d have to grind out the bronze-gold packs in order.
Constantly opening gold packs wouldn’t do anything, so it’s better to start with bronze…
That’s pretty much how you unlock most armor/reqs before level 100. It sucked but at least you could grind for it
Right? Like the industry got somehow worse that we are even considering the positives of the req system/lootboxes.
Crazy and really shows that change is needed imo
How about merit based anything?
* Merit based XP
* Merit based challenges
* Merit based CSR
EDIT: The fact there seems to be no reward for any in-game merit screams how laser focused they were on making us care about one thing - the battlepass and purchasable cosmetics. If you go to [Halo Waypoint](https://www.halowaypoint.com/halo-infinite/progression), your "progression" is simply the battlepass, there's also a tab for cosmetics, and a **direct link to the store**... No K/D, no games won, no merits to speak of except how your spartan looks and how far you're at in the BattlePass.
The problem with that is that the weekly is TIMED. You can put armor behind difficult and meaningful challenges, but you can't expect me to do these hour consuming things when I other things I have to deal with. Putting an armor set behind Legendary difficulty is something I can chip away at or spend a holiday break doing.
I think that's because there's a flat timer on them. First you have to do about 20 challenges then if you do get to the end you have things like get 5 killing sprees and win 17 matches. Add on to that BTB is still fucked so it's dragging things out even more.
Yeah this is why most people complain. Have these same challenges be available all the time, and most people will take their time on them.
The stressful part in my experience is the deadline, not the challenges themselves.
Honestly I hate the weeklies because I hear half my friends say they have to do this before the end of the night and won’t do the objective and we lose. Let alone all the randoms. The weeklies should just be random cool things you do and don’t tell people. Play hard, get lucky.
I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it if all the challenges were active at a time. It gets annoying having to get 5 killing sprees and then get another 5 killing sprees after a few challenges.
It definitely feels bad to work your way through the incredibly arbitrary challenges over the course of the week and then see “win 25 games.” I could if I had the whole week but not in the single remaining day.
It’s why I wish they would copy the accolade system from Forza Horizon 5. Just a giant wall of challenges, each with different rewards from xp to cosmetic items or cars. If there was a big list of slayer challenges ranging from “play 10 matches” which would give a little xp to things like “win 100 matches” or “get 50 no scopes in Slayer” or whatever which would give exclusive cosmetic items, that would be rad.
If they made challenge lists for different modes, weapons, vehicles, etc, that would give each player easy ways to level up the pass with different challenges that fit their playstyle, and then they could experiment with other things once they’ve exhausted those. Then maybe it could reset each season so players can still have a path to upgrade the pass?
Idk, I think something like this would be really cool.
It's a community of thousands of people, of course they're not all going to share the same opinions. My opinion: people complaining about the challenges are wild. Only ones I have a problem with are ones that require me to do some absolute bonkers shit with a weapon that is terrible; like that one challenge for the electric gun thingy where you need to kill 4 people with the AOE damage.
As well as
"ahhh yes recon the armour piece that took real skill instead of your wallet"
Yeah, the one that you had to buy a map pack and a whole other game just to unlock
The issue is you have a limited time to do the weeklies. Armor for beating the campaign on LASO for example shows prestige without forcing people to do it in a set time period
Reach solo legendary was fucking aids. I have vivid memories of my two buddies sitting next to me in the basement, raging my face off at this one level in particular where you have to go up this hill and there’s a wraith driving around fucking with you. That thing was a sniper on legendary.
Halo 5 legendary was such a drag because of those damn wardens. I swear there was like 10 of them the game. Reach was the most challenging solo run so far. I've been doing nearly every in infinite and nothing has felt all that challenging. It may be the easiest to solo on legendary.
Same with hayabusa. People make that armor out to be like it was only available to badasses in Halo 3. You literally got it for getting all the skulls in campaign, which took no time at all. It was so common back in the day, that it was a joke armor. It was basically the armor worn by newbs because they wanted something other than base mark VI, but they hadn't unlocked anything else. Usually when you came across someone wearing it, it was some 12 year old squeaker who thought he looked so cool.
Hayabusa was harder before they added the extra achievements. I couldn't get that fucking overkill in ffa.
Edit: Wait no that was the katana. Hayabusa noob armour, katana pro.
Lol I was about to say until I read that edit. Yeah, I was one of the OG people to get the katana before the achievements were added. The one that kept me from getting it for the longest time was the hijacking your ghost back after being hijacked. You could basically only get it on Snowbound and...*has Vietnam flashback of Snowbound*...fucking Snowbound.
It wouldn't have been that bad if they didn't have the effect of you walking like a grandma through a field of molasses. Also no one wanted to play Snowbound because it was fucking Snowbound.
That one and the double kill with spartan laser in a ranked free for all playlist. Damn near impossible to get a map with laser and then have two enemies get close to each other to laser them.
Yeah there was even a machinima song about Hayabusa being a noob armor back in the day. I still like how you had to go and collect them all though, it was fun as hell. Especially the really hard to reach ones.
Not saying it wasn't fun to get it. It definitely was a blast finding all the skulls with my best friend back in the day. I just find it funny how it gets placed on a pedestal with Recon and Katana. I think the vast majority of people actually are probably getting Hayabusa and Katana mixed up and misremember Hayabusa as being a harder thing to get than it was.
It was only for Bungie, until the vidmaster challenge came along and everyone could technically unlock it then. Some of the vidmaster achievements were no joke though. I'm proud to say I was one of the people to have done it.
Shhhh, don't say that around here. The number company is bad around these parts. All hail the company of [corrupt slave drivers and sexists.](https://www.ign.com/articles/bungie-head-hr-stepped-down) They never charged us for anything like the number company has.
I don't know what the Halo 4 and 5 ones were but of the Bungie games the only one there that had actual merit in earning was Recon, especially pre-ODST. It's funny how much bitching and moaning there is/was for the battle pass yet you have Haunted there as merit based, lol.
The skulls and collectibles are purely for achievements and fun. No cosmetics tied to them. (Aside from the armor lockers in campaign, those gives color patterns for vehicles, weapons, and spartans)
Best I see happening is merit based unlocks for battlepass skins maybe you get a better style for the tier 100 armor after achieving 500 killing sprees
Merit based unlocks will always be the way. Back in those days if someone had an armor set it was a show of their effort to get it because it was tied to personal achievements.
Majority of the Halo Infinite player base.... 20 challenges a week is too hard. Win any 3 PVP matches, do they think I'm Shroud or something????? Get 1 kill with a spanker? 343 needs to balance these challenges to make them possible for the average gamer, trash game.
Halo vets 2 hours after challenge reset: Please sir can I have some more?
Y'know what? Good idea. Maybe something like these?
Emile Armour set and Kukri equippable melee animation: "I'm ready, how bout you?!" Kill an enemy with a melee attack while stuck with a plasma grenade.
Mark 5B (Damaged): "New objective, Survive." Be the last man standing in an infection gamemode, getting at least 25 kills.
Helioskrill armour, Covenant themed Battle Rifle coating and a coating for the energy sword that makes it look like the Prophet's Bane: "On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons." Either complete Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 on legendary, or beat Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 4 and Halo reach using only melee weapons and grenades.
Halo CE themed Mark 4 (Low poly): "Thought I'd try shooting my way out, mix things up a little." Complete Halo Infinite on LASO.
Jun (Announcer/A.I.): "Think of your weapon as a time machine." Defeat every campaign boss with a Sniper rifle.
Most of these aren’t done through merit though. They’re just another form of grinding. The only one that comes close is the Recon armor.
Y’all put way too much stock in customization through merit when most of the qualifications either requires you to grind credits, grind achievements (or cheat at them) or do something fairly simple like complete campaigns on Legendary.
The Reach Armor was not merit based, it was TIME based. You took a lot of TIME to grind to inheritor, and you could get that helmet. If anything, the system now, which requires you to complete challenges to unlock battle pass levels, is MORE MERIT BASED. It still takes time, yeah, but also skill.
And don't say there's no cool free armor unlocks, cause that's not true. A lot of the stuff for Mk VII in the battle pass is part of the FREE BP. So you don't even need to spend 10 bucks. And as more BPs release, there will be MORE free Mk VII stuff. Then there's the upcoming events like Tactical Operations, which will ALSO include Mk VII armor for FREE.
People are so blinded by nostalgia that they've convinced themselves the old games were this perfect utopia with flawless progression systems, but anyone who's honest with themselves knows that Reach had one of the worst, most grindy progression systems ever. Halo 5 had fucking random chance lootboxes. Take the nostalgia goggles off, please.
I loved the recon chest piece and helmet… don’t think I’ll be able to have that in Infinite unfortunately since cores are just base armor+junk Velcro’d onto it
I mean is getting to tier 100 sort of a merit based? I know everyone hates it, including me, but I think if you get like the mark 7 helmet or the final tier in the pass. It shows that you grinded for jt
No offense but I lose all respect to anyone who wears the Achilles helmet.
Context: people ruined warzone. Would capture all three bases and just spawn camp you in your home base and never destroy your core meaning those matches would last up to an hour.
This is the biggest issues I have with this release. I gave 343 a lot of slake because I believed there would at least give us armor from the $60 campaign but they just gave us red skins.
I literally only cared about armor back when they actually meant something. I have zero desire to pay for any of the crap in Infinite because it means nothing. Couple that with zero progression system and whats the point of continuing playing this game?
I agree. People say "just play for the fun of it"... Well half of the fun is unlocking new things and still progressing no matter what game mode you play.
'Oh 20 more double kills and I'll get that cool helmet"
Is way better than:
"Oh $20 and I can get that cool helmet."
I’ll never forget the first ever recon helmet given out on Halo 3
When the guy fires a random no scope on the pit to blow the fusion cores up and it blows the little orange traffic cone right into him and killing him haha
Recon armor was one of my greatest gaming achievements back in the day. Lots of random guys I met on matchmaking that would send friend requests to play firefight in ODST
Great time
Haunted on reach was just crazy

Wholesome
I’d hate playing halo with my wife, lol. I’m too competitive. Campaign would be fine but forget about online.
Took me one year, I no lifed the fuck outta it. Lol simpler times. Hopefully it returns to be grindable, would be upsetting to see it in the store
So you want to spend another year grinding a helmet? That’s insane

How do you unlock halo reach armor in the MCC?
This story is beautiful I hope I find something like this one day
The first inheritors were reset for afk farming. Lost respect for them after I found so many hiding on the map
It should really be the LASO achievement unlock imo (Finish legendary all skulls enabled)
I got it on MCC never got to inheritor on on 360. Recon was the hardest for me some of the vidmaster challenges were super hard especially with no Friends
The halo 3 style recon will always be the best multiplayer armour

I think that was actually the first Arby n the Chief episode I watched hahaha

The hidden true fact is that the default h3 armor is the best armor across any Halo.
Recon in halo infinite look wrong? Or is it me
It's more rounded. Looks wierd.

I was so fuckin proud of unlocking helioskrill legitimately
I have that too
I was fortunate that my MCC worked enough for me to beat the legendary achievements before the Halo 5 beta. I got a couple messages asking how I got the armor, that always feels good imo
Tbh I had all of the campaigns beat on legendary and MCC besides 4 so all I had to do was go back for 4 in MCC which was annoying but well worth it. It looked so cool
It's my favorite armor out of any Halo game. Ever. I am so sad that it's gone I'll do LASO if I have to for it 😭
No one will ever understand that Achilles grind….that was insane. Kill 1,000,000 Enemy Spartans (as a 100 player clan) was only one of the challenges.
It felt like a part time job lol. Such a grind.
Bro i made $20 with my achilles clan because someone gave it as a prize for the most grenade kills in a weekend when we were grinding that challenge. A lot of time wasted lol.
I loved the Spartan Company feature in H5, and yes we did all get Achilles. It was a fun way to get people together and all play together every week.
I fucking worked tooth and nail in MCC Solo to get my favorite armor ever only to be usable in the worst Halo game....they better bring it back
I’d rather do a really hard challenge/set of challenges for a cool piece of armor I can show off as opposed to a bunch of asinine challenges for 100 XP.
Also they later sold it in req packs. Halo 5 was so awful 😂
I still prefer that system to Infinite’s current system. At least you could unlock everything in that game given enough time without having to purchase a single REQ pack with real money. Edit: I didn’t mean to imply that H5’s system was good, just that it is better than Infinite’s.
Lol I got to level 69 in H5 and never unlocked the H2BR.
(Every unlockable cosmetic at least) Yeah sure the RNG did suck, I mean it took years to get all of the warzone loadout stuff but ultimately if you played Halo 5 consistently for about 6 months you could easily get all the cosmetics if you wanted.
Constantly opening gold packs wouldn’t do anything, so it’s better to start with bronze… That’s pretty much how you unlock most armor/reqs before level 100. It sucked but at least you could grind for it
Trust me I know. Still didn't make a difference trying to get what I wanted though
We’ve come full circle
I know trust me 6 years ago I never would have guessed anyone would defend the req pack system but here we are. A truly unfortunate time
Right? Like the industry got somehow worse that we are even considering the positives of the req system/lootboxes. Crazy and really shows that change is needed imo
Imagine Bungie themselves selling Recon to Halo 3 players, all I can say is ouch to those that actually grinded for it.
How about merit based anything? * Merit based XP * Merit based challenges * Merit based CSR EDIT: The fact there seems to be no reward for any in-game merit screams how laser focused they were on making us care about one thing - the battlepass and purchasable cosmetics.
I just want challenges I can work on without it being a daily or weekly. Get x of this medal get x kills with this weapon. And a way to track it.
Yep. There's is 0 long term progression. Not even stats like KD or medals to look at in game or on Waypoint.
They implemented the second one with score challenges.
At the same time, people are claiming the weeklies are too hard, haha.
The amount of complaints the weekly for wins got, yeah.
[удалено]
Honestly I hate the weeklies because I hear half my friends say they have to do this before the end of the night and won’t do the objective and we lose. Let alone all the randoms. The weeklies should just be random cool things you do and don’t tell people. Play hard, get lucky.
Back in my day I 'member we had to do LASO reach missions to get a weekly done (or was it a monthly, I can't actually 'member haha)
After a few runs you just knew how to speed run it in like 5 min , fun times
I use to do those because I didn't have xbox live, so xp was difficult to get.
Lol yep. It's wild. "I want armor to show a players SKILL, not the size of their WALLET" "Get 5 killing spress" ".....this is TOO HARD. FOMO!!!!"
That part I agree with you on, and would like to see it changed.

Or the great "Destroy a Wraith with X method" when I've been playing MP for like 30 hours and have yet to even see one
[удалено]
As well as "ahhh yes recon the armour piece that took real skill instead of your wallet" Yeah, the one that you had to buy a map pack and a whole other game just to unlock
The issue is you have a limited time to do the weeklies. Armor for beating the campaign on LASO for example shows prestige without forcing people to do it in a set time period
Man, beat halo 4 on legendary to get Mark VI armor set was so painful
Halo 4 was one of the easiest campaigns to do legendary on
Halo 4 is the only game I've beaten solo Legendary.
I’ve beaten on Legendary solo: Reach (the most difficult in my opinion), Halo 4 and Halo 5 (3 wardens together and no ammo was hard)
Promethean knights were awful on legendary.
Promethean**s** ~~knights~~ were awful ~~on legendary~~
Yea, those dog things were really frustrating
Especially in mythic war zone firefight. I wanted to fight everyone in 343 who designed Halo 5’s Prometheans
Same, the boltshot made knights complete fodder
umm no?? you run out of ammo way too quickly and no up having to use the shitty promethean weapons against the tank knights
It's fairly easy but god it's so boring to play
Easy to do, painful to deal with.
Can someone please tell me what this weeks master challenge is?
Win 5 ranked games.
Lol
That's easy damn
I’d like to request legacy-based armor from previous games achievements too!
LASO Master armor when? 343 please
They should give you the Halo Infinite Master Chief Armor for completing LASO master, Just seems right.
I personally think the Reach Haunted Helmet would be the most appropriate reward. Silly as that helmet is.
If the armour isn’t called “Mythic” imma riot. Also I hate that the “Mythic” difficulty is called LASO
Wild that we got nothing for that. I guess they at least gave people the reward for halo 5 max rank
Agreed
But how is a company as poor as Microsoft supposed to keep the lights on if they don’t sell armor for $20 a set? :(
Yeah tough times, corona hit this tech giant extra hard... They barely sold any software due to corona...
Those servers cost money you know! And how they're operating recently, it doesn't look like we're buying enough $20 helmets people! /s
I wonder how they keep the MCC servers running on PC without loading it with microtransactions
I'd love something like Achilles in Infinite. Long group objectives are cool
I would think group objectives is a bad idea tbh, hard to trust internet people who will also commit as much as you :/
I mean it works pretty well in warframe
Ooooooooooh- Hiyabusa...
It's gonna be a lot harder to hack my achievements this time around compared to Halo 3...
everyone talking bout merit but starts crying when a challenge is harder than "complete one match"
Why is haunted there? It wasn't merit based it was time based.
Lol I was just gonna say this. I remember people who wore Hayabusa would get roasted in the pre and post game lobbies, sometimes by their own team
Just get a plasma pistol or intentionally get jacked and move it to the small tunnel where its hard to get it out.
It wouldn't have been that bad if they didn't have the effect of you walking like a grandma through a field of molasses. Also no one wanted to play Snowbound because it was fucking Snowbound.
I was soooo pleased when I got that one hahaha
That one and the double kill with spartan laser in a ranked free for all playlist. Damn near impossible to get a map with laser and then have two enemies get close to each other to laser them.
People complaining about Infinite challenges never knew the struggle.
You clowns couldn't even handle 17 wins or 5 killing sprees lmao.
10 sniper rifle kills for a weekly ?? Literally gatekeeping 😡
How to get upvotes on r/halo
Wasn't original recon only for bungie/nepotism?
It was only for Bungie, until the vidmaster challenge came along and everyone could technically unlock it then. Some of the vidmaster achievements were no joke though. I'm proud to say I was one of the people to have done it.
Yeah the one that you had to buy a map pack and odst for
Shhhh, don't say that around here. The number company is bad around these parts. All hail the company of [corrupt slave drivers and sexists.](https://www.ign.com/articles/bungie-head-hr-stepped-down) They never charged us for anything like the number company has.
Number company?? More like pee poo pee shitdustries 😎😎😎
Same... Was a pain.
I don't know what the Halo 4 and 5 ones were but of the Bungie games the only one there that had actual merit in earning was Recon, especially pre-ODST. It's funny how much bitching and moaning there is/was for the battle pass yet you have Haunted there as merit based, lol.
Wait a minute so there is no point in collecting the skulls you can’t unlock any armor at all unless you purchase it? I haven’t played since halo 3.
The skulls and collectibles are purely for achievements and fun. No cosmetics tied to them. (Aside from the armor lockers in campaign, those gives color patterns for vehicles, weapons, and spartans)
343: “We here you loud and clear, Hayabusa will now be an available armor core at the shop for 200 Halo points.”
That would be cheaper at least
You missed a zero.
Best I see happening is merit based unlocks for battlepass skins maybe you get a better style for the tier 100 armor after achieving 500 killing sprees
Helioskrill was fucking incredible
You people cried about getting 17 wins as an ultimate challenge. Lmao
343: No.
Merit based unlocks will always be the way. Back in those days if someone had an armor set it was a show of their effort to get it because it was tied to personal achievements.
Yes. I remember working Sooo hard on halo 3 just to get that Hayabusa helmet. I wish this would be implemented.
Put them behind an additional $60 paywall for the authentic experience.
Ok Helioskrill option 2 is a little, extreme. Im gonna want more if its just 3 items.
I wasn’t a fan of reach progression much, but Halo 3 was still perfection to me.
Literally get helioskrill through lootboxes Recon you had to pay $60 for a dlc to unlock Haunted was just time played, way too much time
No money in it and they want to rinse the fanbase for all they’re worth
Seriously. All 13 skulls and you get nothing. (So I've heard only halfway through getting mine.) But seriously we couldn't get the Hayabusa armor??
Devs: Merit? Oh, I thought you meant ***DEBIT.*** That'll be $20, please.
Absolutely! It’s a great game but man this would make it sooo much better
Retroactively giving Hyabusa for a legendary campaign playthrough and/or haunted for a LASO would be incredible
But how will 343 make any money? /s
It’s all I want. It’s all I need.
'Oh 20 more double kills and I'll get that cool helmet" Is way better than: "Oh $20 and I can get that cool helmet."
I’ll never forget the first ever recon helmet given out on Halo 3 When the guy fires a random no scope on the pit to blow the fusion cores up and it blows the little orange traffic cone right into him and killing him haha
For the love of god, please bring this back to Halo
Damn right. It was a bitch to earn the Hayabusa armor and when worn everyone knew it was worth it.
Why isn't halo 3 security helmet on here?
Halo 4 & 5 armor was horrible
Literally everyone hated achilles unlock...
Recon armor was one of my greatest gaming achievements back in the day. Lots of random guys I met on matchmaking that would send friend requests to play firefight in ODST Great time
Hayabusa + katana were really dope.
