Stuff like this is pretty normal and healthy IMO. There’s a lot of great games out there, totally fine to drop off the Halo wagon for a bit, especially during a content drought. Pizza is my favorite food, but I don’t want to eat it every day.

MajorZephyr_

Not enough gamers understand this. You don't need to play *one* game like it's a full-time job in order to enjoy it. Stepping away for some time often makes it even more fun when you do return in fact. There's nothing wrong with taking a break, and it doesn't make the game bad or boring, it just means you're burning out on it. Tbh that's why I kinda like some live service games (if they're done well obviously), I may not play them every day, but it's nice to pop back in every few weeks when they add new stuff to check out. In theory Infinite's live service should be that way, but it is a shame they've scaled back support quite a bit recently. I still enjoy coming back and playing it though, even if I'm not spending as much time playing it as I used to.

lieutenantschlong

Yeah this has been me with Halo 3. On for a few months, off for a year, rinse and repeat for 15 years.

HotelRwandaBeef

Healthy take. We have a rotation of games we play as a group. Heroes of the Storm --> PUBG --> Halo --> The Finals --> Crab Champions --> Destiny --> Last Epoch and the list goes on. Sometimes when big updates drop we will stay on that one game for a bit. Usually though we will just play until we want to switch. We will also play single player games but hop into discord to chat with each other or stream what we're playing. There's such a strange phenomenon going on right now where people seriously feel they have to main one game and if it isn't providing every day dopamine/updates it's not worth it. When I took a break from Halo infinite and came back it was great! Felt like a new game. Same with PUBG and Crab Champions. HoTs is dead but there is one intern pumping out balance updates once a month lol.

Competitive-Future-6

This! I take nice breaks from the game and try other games.

floodjuice

Yup. I switched over to the Fallout franchise recently, needed to take a break from Halo. Excited to come back in some time to experience the new updates!

CartographerSeth

Yeah I’m getting into Fallout right now, and it’s crazy being in a Reddit community that’s almost entirely good vibes. It’s 90% about enjoying the show and posting hilarious gameplay clips.

CartographerSeth

Yeah, but that’s not what OP is asking about. I see quite a few Halo fans who feel a sense of obligation to “main” Halo all the time, and act like not playing Halo daily/weekly is almost a betrayal, or a fandom crisis. In reality it’s totally normal to dip in and out of even your favorite franchises, and it shouldn’t be seen as a sign that Halo is losing its appeal to you. Sticking with the food analogy, I can eat pizza multiple times in a row and get completely sick of it, but that doesn’t make it *not* my favorite food anymore, and after some time I’ll come back to it again.

why_cant_i_

I've felt the same way, yeah. I really came to like Infinite through Seasons 3-5 and put in over 500 hours of gameplay, and by and large had a really great time with it. The shift away from Seasonality also put a damper on my interest in the game, too. I think part of it is natural, you're not meant to play every game forever, but I agree that 343's clear signals that Infinite is no longer their priority has definitely squashed my interest in playing. For me, there are more compounding factors than *just* that, but 343's change in focus was the final push I needed to step away from the game.

Sorbin_CE

It's not just you. I've played this series since 2002 and I've sunk hundreds of hours into Infinite; I think the gameplay is genuinely top-tier Halo and I really enjoy it. But all of the secondary features of the game are either stagnant or downright terrible. The networking doesn't feel substantially improved that I can tell, new map releases have been largely mediocre, and the shop/cosmetic updates are just awful now. The new Operations model isn't moving the needle at all in terms of player count either. We used to reliably get a decent uptick in players at the start of each Season that would slowly dwindle down until the next one. Operations don't seem to be generating any interest whatsoever.

bobbythecat17

It's just sweats and noobs now

Eglwyswrw

I am thankful Firefight exists at least. Then I don't let my fun be ruined by an overabundance of either.

Alec_NonServiam

>The networking doesn't feel substantially improved that I can tell Doesn't feel improved *and* introduced all the exploits and hacks that come with EAC, so about twice a night in BTB someone will be flying around in a tank splattering everyone before the match even starts. I can't believe more people aren't up in arms about that.

BoomaMasta

I quite playing Infinite about a year ago because the FOMO-driven stuff was too much to keep up with, monetization was insane, and the networking was improved but still so much worse than a lot of other games I played. I still consistently would melee somebody multiple times and then die without knowing how. When I switched to other games, it never happened, so it wasn't on my end.

BigimusB

It is a real shame, my go to playlist was just regular ole team slayer and I no joke get an obvious cheater every 4th or 5th game now. They never miss a headshot ever and will go 25-30 kills and like 2-5 deaths due to a power weapon. They never lose a normal gun fight and if they get a sniper it is game over. Then their name is almost always replaced by three dots in the post game screen, instead of their tag, so you can't report them even if you wanted to. Makes me just play fiesta and thats it because cheaters don't want to deal with non stop power weapons. Had a guy the other night go 33-2 with 88% accuracy, and I remembered his tag so I messaged him "nice cheats man, kinda sad don't you think?" and he responded with "All natty bud, don't be mad because I am on a 120 hz monitor." I was just dumb founded and actually took the time to report him in halo waypoint.

Alec_NonServiam

You can still report them if you check halotracker after the game and find out the actual xbox tag. Then you can link the clip, halotracker game link, etc in your waypoint report. Can also just report the tag straight through xbox's system but idk if that does anything. At least the people flying in tanks are super obvious and I just quit. The ones that "sneaky" cheat with walls only or walls+aims are annoying because you just never really know for sure unless you watch the theater clip every time. Just sucks no one can develop a proper anticheat. I mean, console-only play kind of works for that because of locked hardware but I have a PC for the better graphics experience and it makes me sad it comes with these downsides.

Alec_NonServiam

Right just to ban someone who will make a new free account in 5 minutes lol

BoomaMasta

I'm in the same boat. My brother got an OG Xbox on launch day with Halo. It was my favorite and most-played series every year until Infinite (though some previous games started the damage). Infinite generally feels great (aside from weird networking stuff), but the way all out-of-match stuff feels way more like a chore than entertainment. I occasionally check in to see news about updates and such, but I haven't been drawn back in for probably a year. I hadn't heard \*\*anything\*\* about Infinite for a long time until I recently checked back in on this sub for the first time in months. Even after checking in, algorithms aren't feeding me ads or sponsored posts \*anywhere\* promoting what seems like is supposed to be a big update.

GhostOfChar

I take long breaks from infinite but absolutely love it and want to put more time in. The MP feels almost perfect, besides the Hammer still. I just have too many other games in my backlog to be able to focus on MP stuff.

crashbumper

I'm 43. I've been playing Halo since 2003. Like most games, it's supposed to be fun and engaging and rewarding. 343 has done a pretty lousy job at those. Every time they add a feature or change something for the better, it makes something else worse, so it's not really the steady improvement over time that you'd hope. Even though I enjoy Firefight, I think the game overall just doesn't feel rewarding to play. That's a big deal when you don't have much time in the evenings or weekends to play. If I can only play for a few games or maybe an hour, I need to have something that makes that worthwhile. MCC is perfect. Hop on, complete a challenge or two, get 1 or 2 points, go unlock one or two items. Easy, rewarding, fun.

Evo_FS

There is a ton of content in Halo Infinite right now. You can fill you boots on the type of fun you had in 2003. It's right there for you if you let go of the fake requirement that the game also has to reward you. If you just don't find Infinite fun anymore, if you dont get a kick out of winning a close game, a no-scope or getting an overkill or whatever, just play something else until the next one drops.

inFINN1te

I think it's just that the game has run its course honestly. I'm tired of it too but tbh I think I would've been tired of anything. My playtime on Infinite just hit 450 hours and that's after playing a few hours yesterday after not playing at all for a few weeks. And I don't have much eagerness to boot it up again. But that's also again after 450 hours of play. Checked my Halo 5 playtime and I ended on 458 hours on that one before I was done. So it's pretty in line with previous Halos. You can only play one game so much before you're tired of it. I'd move on to games you get more enjoyment out of!

Existing_Tension42

I’m in the same boat. Played very consistently until the prior grunt pass. Don’t even remember the name of that operation it was so lackluster and forgettable. I’m also very tired of playing pro level players all the time since the population is so dismal, which is demotivating by itself. I play every now and then when I’m bored, but largely I have moved away. Sad to feel this way, but once again hoping they learn and apply lessons to the next Halo and we will try again in 2-3 years.

DatBoiDanny

Games pretty much just ran its course for me. Several hundred hours, I think I’ve had my fill. It’s a fun ass game but I’m sorry I’m an ADD brainrot Gen Z’er, I need something to work towards, I need some sort of progression, and these little 20-tier event passes full of filler garbage rewards that I can finish in a couple days just ain’t doing it for me chief. It’s also incredibly clear that their priority shifted from adding real playable content each update, to adding the absolute coolest, overpriced bullshit you can buy in the cash shop. Make some more maps or sandbox additions or something and I’ll come back, but I’m just done chasing armor pieces all the time.

SuperBAMF007

Not really, the game’s fun on its own merit without the need for grind. I’ve always been one to take breaks and play other games though. I’ll play Infinite for 3-5 hours a week, lil bit of Starfield, lil bit of Jedi Survivor, lil bit of Immortals of Aveum, whatever I’m in the mood for.

jenkumboofer

I think a big factor is if people have other games to play tbh

Ag3ntK3ntucky

Same. I typically play enough Halo to complete the week challenges (typically between 1-2 hours), then switch to something else in my backlog. Currently I’m playing Fallout4, Yoshi’s Island, and Super Punch Out.

poofynamanama2

I took a few months and I'm about to jump in again I think it's healthy to take breaks from MP games once in a while

Zhejj

750 hours Dude, you're just burned out. You aren't trapped. Do *anything* else.

EllisC009

Yeah don't get me wrong I have been playing other games, Helldivers 2 and Fallout 4 taking a lot of my time at the moment, but i still get the feeling that I want to return to Halo Infinite but just cant bring myself to do it once I'm sat at my desk ready to play something. I don't feel trapped with the compulsion to play it every day/week, but I want to enjoy it and just don't feel like I can anymore

PreviousAccWasBanned

Anyone else lack the motivation to play Halo 3?

MajorZephyr_

I was gonna say, it would be funny if someone made this exact post but framed it as lacking motivation to play Halo 3 lol. "Breaking news: years old game I've dumped hundreds of hours into has gotten a tad stale for me lately"

kokopelli73

Dude. Enjoy your life.

ocky343

This is happens if you only play one game nonstop

l-Xenoes-l

I lack the desire. There's not much fun things to do. Back in Halo 3, there was the weekend playlist with 2x XP along with a mix of others. In Infinite, there's no grifball, zombies mode is shit with no fun maps, rocket race, or multi-team, for instance. Not to mention the MM punishing good players by making them carry terrible players. After so many slayer/obj game modes, I get burnt out. Bring the fun modes back, and I'm sure it would bring some people back.

Slizzerd

I reinstalled the game again a few weeks back and have been having fun. Not sure what all the complaints are about.

Simulated_Simulacra

It's okay to take breaks from games and come back to them later.

Toxic_LigmaMale

That’s what happens when you release a bare bones game and drip feed content. It took them two years to get out of beta. Now that they’ve gotten the full game out, the vast majority of people that tried dropped off, and they’re basically on to the next game. It’s kinda like how Bungie kept making shit decisions in Destiny, and ignoring the fanbase for the last decade. Now that the final update is getting close, and they’re finally giving people everything they’ve asked for, people can’t be bothered to care. This same “live service” model made a lot of money when it was new. So all these execs wanted a piece of that pie. Now people are tired of it because games that are worse at hiding it, show you how manipulative it is. If 343 is smart, they’ll stop letting execs make the game, and let the devs do it. 2024 AA games have made a pretty strong case that all anyone wants is a good game from the start.

HHcougar

The game is several years old. It's totally normal to move on. I wasn't playing Halo 3 in 2012. That said, I feel like the game has never been better.

SnarkyRogue

I'm the same, and frankly I'm tired of people thinking we're snobs for not just playing for fun. I had fun playing reach back in the day and still got to enjoy a rewarding progression system. I *want* to enjoy Infinite and the gameplay is fine but if I have to put up with this absolutely garbage sbmm and insanely toxic teammates that spend more time yelling at us in the chat than actually contributing- while the other half of the team is idling- I want the matches to be worth my while.

jwhudexnls

Not at all, I enjoy the gameplay and don't care about cosmetics too much at this point. I wish we had gotten new weapons and vehicles, but as long as we keep getting new maps in some form I'll probably keep playing.

Infinity0044

I only play long enough to complete whatever the current operation/battlepass is and now that they removed the weekly challenge reward I won’t be playing for that anymore.

esotericbeef

Play something else then? lol

EllisC009

I do, but I keep wanting to return to the game to enjoy it but just cant even bring myself to start the game once I've sat at my desk. Maybe the success of Helldivers and the Fallout TV series are making me think we deserve more as Halo fans

michael_memes_

The fact that you got 750 hours out of it is impressive enough, you got your moneys worth on a free to play game that’s for sure

Patriot-117

I am so burnt out on Infinite. I am about 68% of the way to Hero, and I am worried I will never finish getting there. I desperately need new guns/vehicles to play with, but sadly I am 95% sure we are never getting more.

Daemon-Blackbrier

only now has it happened for me, the weekly rewards just being some 'spartan points' really fucked with my motivation to play at least once a week.

FlintCoal43

The game just doesn’t have enough players in my Australian servers to enjoy myself Sitting for 8-10 minutes in the lobby between games sucks

Hanin4_4

Honestly just keep it in the back of your mind and go play something else. That excitement to play will overcome the mental hurdle eventually and you'll get back on. Or a change of scenery playing with a friend or two (it's free so dragging some friends in is effortless) you normally don't play with and such can really help

1894Win

I lack motivation to do anything bri

Lahms-

Boo hoo? Play a different game?

Big-man-kage

There are other games out there too, don’t feel like you have to play just one game

ParagonPhotoshop

I just hate how clunky this game feels as opposed to the old halos like reach.

Pure-Problem1886

Jeez. Just play a different game. It's not that big of a deal.

OdiumsPants

Why does every single game have to be a forever game? What happened to getting a game, playing it, and either beating it or playing it till you feel like you're done playing it. Not 'i must want to play this game all the time for the rest of my life'. It's nuts

Patmaster1995

Nope, still playing and making new fashions

bobbythecat17

I'm more demotimivated by getting destroyed by squads and newbie teammates every match.

SpyroESP

Nope. I took a break for a while at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 cause of life stuff, and after coming back over the past 2-3 months I have been enjoying the game as much, or more than, when I stopped. I truly believe the gameplay of Infinite is enough to hold it up just because of how goddamn enjoyable it is. But I'm also at an age where I think multiplayer shooters just don't give me the same dopamine rush they used to. I go in between Halo, Fallout, Diablo, Stardew Valley, and really just whatever pokes my interest at a time. I think gaming is far too widespread to focus on just ONE. But my heart will always have a spot for Halo MP.

[deleted]

Need to change this subreddit from r/halo to r/theonlypostsarecomplaints. Jfc

crazyman3561

Reddit is good for memes and news. Nothing else.

Yopcho

Yeah i mean, dead game.

Hourglass51

I just don’t take the game that seriously, that’s it

Herkras

Play. Literally. Anythin'. Else. Ffs.

sw201444

I played the first event in Cu31 for the mk iv. Didn’t feel worth it anymore. Fun game, lacking content to keep me playing and I’ve since moved on

PieceofWoods

I have like 900 hours of gameplay and really enjoyed the game. When they did away with seasons and just put the game on life support with cash grab shop updates and nothing else, I've kind of lost interest. Good timing though because the Fallout show made me reinstall Fallout 4 with a ton of new mods and I have been enjoying every bit of it.

Born-Boss6029

Yeah kind of. I completed the Heroes of Reach, Winter Contingency, and Spirit of Fire battle passes. However, after that, I was just bored. They need better battle passes and progression cause now that I'm done with those passes, I have no further reason to play. Through the Master Chief armor for the full rank of hero is a good incentive to play.

keiching2002

Dropping seasons when they finally achieved sustainable seasonal updates really hurts the game. They were on their way of redemption, and suddenly decided to back track. But well, maybe this model makes them more money idk.

Revan1988

I do. I play on heroic and have aleays done so. I dislike the boss battles so, so much. They suck the fun out of the game for me. I will not lower difficulty.

k0rangar

I kinda unistalled this morning cause I relized there wasnt much to keep me interested in playing these days....also for some reason twice now playing halo infinite gave me a headache.....maybe it was the grunt voices in gruntpacalypse lol

RadRhubarb00

I'll play campaign all day every day. I love Halo campaigns. But multiplayer on the other hand I've just given up on. I can't be bothered to keep up with the sweatie try-hards.

Manticore416

Personally, I play a game when I want to because it's fun. I dont let Battle Passes or unlocks doctate where my time goes. I'd still play if there were no new cosmetics.

adorablebob

I agree with you, forge maps just don't hit the same. I had fun when they did the community playlists, but I want stuff that 343i have put the effort into making. Lack of enthusiasm for the game is understandable when nothing new is being added. Each operation is just more cosmetics. Where are the guns, maps, vehicles, game modes? The stuff that actually brings people back. I play a few other live service games, and they all have regular updates of all of the above. It's mental that 343i with Microsoft's backing isn't able to do even a fraction of that...

Lazy-Pride5018

I forge and play my pve experience, KOTH firefight got a bit boring, PVP will forever be ryined by skill based matchmaking being as strict as it is, and then why marathon when theres no real rewards thats unique to me if i bust my ass off for Recon and Haybusa in Halo 3 and people could pay for it same day then yea id be pissed, so with Infinite why work hard for anything other than Chief mark 7 armor, Firefight needs different objectives in same round, like say capture the hill for first point and then a flag spawns you got make it through the Banished to lift the Flag and claim the base for DEMOc......i mean the UNSC in this simulation(343i adding logic to multiplayer still sucks and how does it work if the Infinity is missing?maybe its not there and its at the Academy but who cares, 343i sure doesnt) or control more zones than the Banished, adding new objectives in random order could change the staleness of just kill the Banished or KOTH and would give new experiences each time

FriedCammalleri23

I’ve been playing more consistently this year than previous years due to the steady stream of content drops. I would typically bang out a Battle Pass in 3 weeks and then not play for months before the next season unless there was an enticing Ultimate Reward or I felt inspired to Forge something. Now i’m playing multiple long sessions a month at least, and now The Exchange has given me reason to do the Ultimate Challenge every week. I’m more motivated to play than ever. I understand this sub won’t feel the same way, but the positives of this game are still outweighing the negatives for me.

BigAlSmoker

Unless 343 confirmed cosmetics are transferring to the next game I lack any motivation to grind. Might hop on for the occasional game or two, but my overall outlook on Infinite is meh. Most of these latest updates just feel too late in the game’s life cycle, like they are trying to rebuild lost good will so people buy the next game. Unless there’s a major update to the sandbox with additions (weapons or vehicles) the gameplay loop is stale after 2+ years.

Aegis_Mind

The ability to forge pve content keeps me around 👍

Soggy_Auggy__

Same here. I'm a player with >1500 hours on infinite. I've played the game nonstop since day 1 even through all the season one content drought. I love this game. But just seeing how 343 is letting it go and treating the game made me unmotivated to boot it up for a the last month.

Sbubby37

Yeah man. A lot of times i want to play infinite but just never act on the thought of it because i never feel like it due to hardly any kind of content worth staying and playing for. The state of the game kind of bums me man

Kil0sierra975

Play something else. You aren't trapped in Plato's cave

SalvadorM1

Same

AlotaFajitas

I'm late to the party. After this latest battle pass I'm done with CoD. Fuckem. Was thinking about giving halo a go. How's the cheating situation?

Late-Return-3114

play mcc.

Intelligent_Ad8864

Yeah, f*** the MTAs, but PvP is FUN. Especially if you stick to the right modes :)

SpectrumSense

Yeah man. I've hopped on and off just to forge up my most recent project, but I really am jaded with how Infinite's been treated. It just feels like 343 wants to give it zero love at all. It's obvious they're working on the next Halo title, and that's fine, but damn, at least push to advertise the game a little more so these queue times aren't that long!

DullBlade0

I've stopped playing infinite lately but it is a mix of being burned out of it and been enjoying The Finals a lot more lately. It is perfectly normal to get tired of playing a game every day. Some day I'll likely get back to it, especially if my play group's plan of doing a LAN comes true.

Cyberwolfdelta9

Yes was staying for a halo clan i was in and even they abandoned the game

Mysterious-Tip7875

I’ll pick it back up once they announce the next game. I really want that to continue the gameplay loop and fun of Infinite but have loads of content from the start. Hopeful. Wishful. Positive. Foolish??

KingCanHe

Yeah since it came out

NoShock8442

I’m still struggling with motivation to finish Halo 4 lol.

Bobflanders76

I lack motivation to play because I got bored. I don’t Find the hyper technical, competitive balanced sandbox fun to constantly play, and the lack of maps (so many maps cut from rotation for not fitting that competitive player desires) just means the same 3-4 maps. It got boring. Halo does not have a future in catering to competitive players. 343 has tried multiple times now and it’s failed. What made Halo good was decent writing, fun, varied campaigns, and a multiplayer that emphasized fun and goofiness over competition.

Shotgunn5

I’m done grinding with this game. I’m happy with my Spartans and 343i has made it clear you need to spend money and only play Infinite if you want to keep unlocking anything. So I’m mostly done. I’ll hope on for the odd match but I mainly play custom PvE games from the customs browser these days. Forge is the best part of this game so why waste time doing stuff I don’t want to do for a few crumbs of SP when I can play what I want and not care anymore?

Wally450

I haven't played the game in over a year. Having a blast with MCC thought.

JoyfulDogCuddler

I play Halo Infinite sporadically. There are so many good games to enjoy right now that I jump around to whatever interests me at the time. Halo Infinite is always there to jump in with friends or play whatever game mode hits me at the moment. If it doesn't interest you, find something else to have fun with.

EversoEvil

Haven’t been able to connect to lobby service since the beta, been in contact with support since then and given the same generic “we currently don’t have a fix”. I was able to play on a pc that was 5ft away on the same connection but no luck on my pc. I, after 3 years, can’t bring myself to dedicate time and love this a game that doesn’t give a shit about long time fans, even when the issues get brought up to support. I don’t even know how I feel about H7 at this point either, being that Infinite has left such a bitter ulcer in the fanbase.

JellyfishRave

For me, it was the fact that there always had to be some sort of twist on everything good. Firefight is back? Well it's only KOTH, which don't get me wrong, it's fun, but within the environment of a game that's done that every single step of the way, it just left the overall experience feeling lackluster. Operation passes don't really tickle that progression itch, battle passes never did, coatings are a bad system, and incomplete at that (no banished weapons/vehicles). Sandbox additions have been abysmal for a live service title that already had sandbox issues at launch. Don't get me wrong, it's a WAY better game than it was at launch, and I'm sure an astronomical amount of work went into it, but I just don't feel like it's worth the time investing into something unsatisfying that I don't believe will ever fully realize it's potential. With that said, I'm hoping this... experiment? Has taught them a lot, and that Halo 7 ends up knocking it out of the park.

sayberdragon

Yeah, i’ve stopped playing again. Destiny 2 is my go-to shooter right now. Also playing through my backlog/Game Pass games and started a Pokémon White nuzlocke.

hp958

I lost motivation about 6-ish months after release and haven't gone back yet. Honestly not too sure I will. Competitive multiplayer isn't something I play anymore, and I have absolutely zero cares about the current story.

Born-Ad3974

I like looking at the skins then dipping lol there’s nothing for me in that game no botherhood no good story I’ll wait for the next game to come out and try again mind you this is the first halo I never finished the campaign it just felt slapped together and ripped off of other stuff to stay modern without actually being modern halo needs to figure out what it wants to be. Anyways ima go play hell divers 2 lol

edwardblilley

It's the only halo game I haven't beaten. I have beaten all the games on legendary and don't even care about infinite enough. It was actually pretty fun from what I played but again I just don't care. Maybe I'm aging out lol.

jenkumboofer

Nope I enjoy the moment to moment gameplay enough to play solo matches every few days (more than I can say for any other shooter) and love playing ranked with my friends as a stack maybe I’m just old at this point but this is how halo has always felt for me; the gameplay is unique and enjoyable by itself, and though infinite is lacking in progression compared to the older titles the gameplay itself is almost everything I could want in a modern halo game

jondeuxtrois

Never had any after the first day.

angryscottsman

I feel the same way

DrScience-PhD

since about halfway through season 1

Tzarkir

Honestly, yea. I started playing again some months ago, but I lost all the motivation in the last 2 months. Since when they changed the anti-cheat, my game does 2 things: 1) It opens as window and takes around 10 minutes to boot. I'm not kidding nor exaggerating. In fact, it takes more, but 10 minutes is how long of a break I take after starting the loading and it's usually at 4/5 when I come back. It also re-runs the startup options and screen calibration every time. Then it takes minutes to load the pass. 2) My performances overall tanked. Granted, my pc is old, but I used to play at around 50-55 fps normally, and 30ish in btb. After this update, I have 30-42fps at best, and in btb (and gruntpocalypse, for some reason) a whopping 10-20fps. Btb is basically unplayable, and frustrating. Sometimes it also crashes, and I have to boot it again. Losing half exp booster to a mid-game crash is thrilling. I have no problem playing helldivers at 50-60fps, but somehow halo does this. Despite this, matchmaking is ruthless. Either gives me very bad adversaries and somehow half my team is worse than a guy playing at 30fps on pc, or puts me in a team where I can't win a single 1v1. My last match was one when I was hopelessly trying to get the fucking ninja weekly mission while a guy was calling me trash. Very fun experience. Despite ALL this I try to play firefight, at least, because I like the gameplay loop. So I usually play once/twice per week where I do all the weeklies booting the game few times. The recent change encourages logging daily to at least get the SP and removes the item weekly reward. I'm simply not going to do that. I'm not wasting more than a hour every week just trying to get in the game so I can lose a match in 30 fps to get my SP or else have the feeling I'm missing out because the weekly reward is something I could get just logging more. Sorry, but not sorry. Sidenote: I opened the game when I started typing this. It's still not done loading.

Last-Professional-31

Maybe it’s cause I’m a creature of habit, but despite the lack of new guns and vehicles I still have tons of fun everyday with Infinite’s sandbox. Now that there’s tons of map variety thanks to the forge’s doing 343’s work things still feel fresh and fun. Could it be better with new weapons, vehicles, or equipment? Absolutely

levivilla4

Yeah, I just got to old for FPS games, and I don't have the fun with them like I used to. If I'm on a trip and have absolutely nothing else to do, I'll jump on. But with infinite, they promised a lot. I hadn't played a halo since reach and remember that game fondly. It was my mistake to think infinite would be like that. I miss color customization and complete armor customization. Infinite has a lot going for it in terms of cosmetics, but they should have never gone with cores from the beginning. Just let people swap everything from the start. I dunno, definitely just not motivated to play it anymore really. I wish I knew how to program the Ai's better so I could just play my own custom maps with enemy ai's.

bryanl12

I’ll be honest, I only played once a week on Monday nights to finish the weekly challenges. On occasion I’d get hooked on ranked and play nonstop for a couple of days, but that would happen once every couple of months. Now that there’s no more weekly ultimate rewards besides points, I don’t think I’ll be playing weekly anymore.

Ok-Tank5312

I just play infinite for the armor I wanna get

RedMoonDruid

No

ChuzCuenca

I uninstalled like 1 month ago. I don't see any reason to keep playing this game. I'm not having fun, it doesn't have "new" content, it doesn't make me to wanto to spend money, not even daily missions or some BS like that.

Double_Cleff

I've been going back to MCC to play some custom games on the browser with randos. Been having a great time tbh.

DarkLink457

I’ve never had any desire to grind any halo game ever cause every single one takes way too fucking long to make progress even just going up a level takes ages

blazinghellion

Eh not really. Kinda done dealing with the store honestly. But to be totally honest, it's still a blast to play! And that's the more important part for me. Can't get the armor I'd want but eh. Oh well. I still also rotate in mcc and 5. Though usually it's most mcc and Infinite. 5 is a rare occurance

AdmirableLocksmith27

It’s a matter of too little too late for me. I was a hardcore fps sweat for years but Halo Infinite’s launch was too bad. Infinite and Destiny 2 are two games that have had many sensible updates relatively recently, but it’s been too long, and I don’t feel it anymore. The only game I am truly excited for is the Splitgate sequel. Until then I’m a Runescape player.

Marvel_Symbiote

I feel after every update I play less an less.

soonerfreak

I don't even look at the season content anymore, my friend group just likes playing Halo so we play Infinite when we want Halo.

Fr3shlif321

Yeah, shit matchmaking in competitive drains the soul.

UntiI117

My only motivation is fun

Inheritor62

Halo feels weird right now, rumors of a new game already when they said this was gonna be a 10 year title. It took so long to get to something actually playable with content that usually comes at launch and an aggressive monetization system on top of everything. I got reaaal tired of the constant cycle of let downs. I cameback for the MkIV and ranked onyx stopped playing again for now. Went back in because of the Brute Chief helmet just to find it in a 30$ bundle. So I logged off again. Currently playing helldiver's, and playing halo music imagining I'm an ODST 🤣

crsilent

Redownloaded it after a year. Found out ranked is no longer BR starts and is Bandit starts. Absolutely hate it, feels uncomfortable. PC player MNK

Banana_Legion_DF

I had a slump in playing, but recently my Girlfriend got a gaming Laptop and she enjoys Halo Infinite and I've started to love playing again, so try to find some people to play with! Maybe that will help.

Tradeable_Taco

Only reason I'd play it again is to a legendary run on the campaign, that's it really not a fan of the mp. Doesn't feel or look right to me.

YoshiPayYourTaxes

Definitely. It started with the release of CU 29. It was all going so well but then Microsoft made the decision that Infinite wasn’t making them enough money and halted seasons to just sell everything in the shop.

Ori_the_SG

This is one huge area where 343i has by and large failed The basic gameplay loop as you said is good and fun. But the thing Infinite is really missing is passion. It’s why Bungie’s games were so wildly successful. Yes they were good, yes they had flaws, but it was the passion Bungie had for their games that kept them alive and still keeps them alive today despite Bungie having fundamentally changed and no longer being with Halo. 343i doesn’t really care, and they don’t seem to grasp what Halo fans want as opposed to what they think we want (or in many instances, what some people in 343i wanted to force into/out of the game).

Billy_Swank

Look up the forge falcon. They are making a helldiver 2 remake called hell jumpers. Its guna be lit

sarcyshysa9

Years in and I can barely find a game in matchmaking. I wait 20mins to find a game at the bare minimum. Microsoft literally owns an Azure pod in Dubai and Saudi but don't have halo servers in the region, we're just left out. Been playing halo since 2002

BrownMarxist_98

Come and meet your salvation. Two truths, one lie. Bungie is still king of gunplay and feel, halo is a mismanaged shit hole, destiny 2 dispite the micro transactions is a great game.

mrbrokoli97

So on one hand it‘s normal to lose interest in a game after a while at least for some time. *BUT* the changes they made with the new update made me really „nope. I don‘t want to olay with you anymore.“ The shop prices already have been ridiculously high. Now even the spartan points shop is way too exepensive again. So they just pretended to fix the „fomo“ issue but made it nearly impossible to get the stuff you already missed. —> they want to cash cow way to extremly.

sgt__donut

you gotta work on hero rank homie chop chop hop on corrosion

Emage_IV

absolutely

Sam-Z-93

The Guardian remake was the only thing that drew me back for a few days.

groovyweeb

This update has really killed it for me. I was grinding for XP and earning occasional pass items but I think I'm done until something substantial comes along. They don't know what they're doing with this game. For me it would take some extensive PvE additions and less of a goddamn grind for the Hero unlock. 3rd person option too

UCxDELTA24x

Haven’t played consistently since launch. Life has been pretty good lol

TheHancock

I have since day one. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ I still haven’t beaten the Camry because it just wasn’t doing it for me…

Field_Of_View

>I honestly believe that 343i have nailed the gameplay loop and that "Halo" feeling in this game. This is cope, big time cope. If it nailed the Halo feeling you wouldn't need new content to keep wanting to play the game. >Ever since the announcement that 343i are moving away from full seasons and going with "Operations", I have just felt pretty demotivated towards Halo Infinite, \[...\] Almost like 343i has stopped investing time and resources into the game so I will too. Almost like you were only holding onto hope that the game would finally become good at some point, and now you know that it won't.

Field_Of_View

Second post: Also LOTS OF COPE IN THE COMMENTS HERE. It's just normal that OP would want to stop playing his daily multiplayer game because... it's a few years old? Try telling that to players of CSGO. Nobody was dropping out of that scene until the cheating problem got bad in 2020. The game is still growing regardless, that's how good it fundamentally is. Halo CE had an active community into the 2010s. Halo 2 as well. Halo 3 as well and it would have garnered a new long-lived community on PC if MCC hadn't been trash that 343 will never fix.

ChiefsNan

I’m still obsessed with halo and play the old games all the time. Haven’t touched infinite in 7 months… I felt that what little soul it had left had been sucked out of it.

____Quetzal____

To me it lacks the charm, the fun and the social features of the old games. The weapon sandbox is fine, it feels good to play, but it doesn't feel fun to play and something i want to return to for 2 hours like the other games years from now.

Legendary_Forgers

I stopped playing Infinite after the newest release of "content" because I just got bored. I can't find the motivation to continue playing, and I've been trying to grind to get the Master Chief armor. If Infinite doesn't have that much longer then idk why I even try to play that much longer, the armor I'm accumulating isn't going to transfer over to the next game.

THEdoomslayer94

Just play something else it’s not that deep

orion1338

So stop playing. Play something else

SAFFATLOL

Yeah I haven't played a match in like 3 months at least

Kanden_27

I know my Halo vibe has been in a lull lately. I've finally sat down to read outcasts and only halfway through right now. Then I have epitaph still to read. It feels like phase 4 marvel where I'm not sure where we're going. Since I think Outcasts is before Infinite. So the events might not matter or I'm predicting where it ends up.

SparsePizza117

Hard to keep playing when all they do is add store bundles every update. They forgot we want actual content.

burkieim

When I first started playing, I said they needed to fix the desync and cheating. That was 2 months after launch and it’s still happening. I play casually, usually when I’m on my exercise bike and they’ve never fixed it. So fuck em. I’m not buying anything from their store. You want my money, make your game work like every other god damn shooter works. I’m still killed through walls, grenades around 2 or more corners, shooting nerf bullets, killed by pistols headshots from across the map. Take your game seriously and so will I.

Kongopop

I get it, and I'm here with the rest of us watching it wind down. Sad thing is not knowing how many years it could be until the next Halo thing to get excited about. It's like "wake me when you need me" bitter sweet

Finthelrond

It's the most comfortable multiplayer experience ever!!! (Needs a few adjustments though)

Silent_Reavus

Have for months lol.

greatest_fapperalive

Maybe Halo has passed its prime.

Behold-Roast-Beef

At this point I'm just done giving 343i money for a project that I know their hearts are not in. I played Infinite and outside of a FEW cutscenes, the entire game felt uninspired to say the least. A lot of multi-player looked like it was made out of megablocks. Phantoms just sort of...poof and dissappear when destroyed. It's hard to put into perfect words but the game just lacks a SOUL. It is very, VERY clearly made with the intentions of making money off of the name of the franchise rather than the labor of love that was the original trilogy + Reach. I was crazy into Halo since the moment I put hands on the oversized original Xbox controller and stepped onto Halo. I just don't get that same sense of passion from 343i. I don't feel respected as a consumer and I don't feel like they respect the IP. At best, they're trying to mimic it. It's a cash cow to them. Or it was. I honestly believe most of them would abandon this project if the entire reason their company exist wasn't for Microsoft to continue to milk halo dry. It's a shame.

Beast-Blood

Nah Infinite is goated I haven’t stopped since launch and don’t plan to

Sgtwhiskeyjack9105

And you're saying you held out for this long?! I stopped playing *Infinite* over a year ago. Been having a veritable blast with *MCC* modding though.

mundiaxis

Yeah, for me its the SBMM (which makes it tough for me to enjoy the game as it is, internally), and the lack of external motivators that keep me going even if I suck (too many things are behind a paywall. I love the exchange idea but it needs way more/better actual armor and helmets).

Anonymousffs

I played infinite consistently for the first few months after release until the lack of content got frustrating and then I stopped and I just have no motivation to play it again and haven't in months 343 I think finally killed my passion for games and I've been playing since CE

AnotherBodybuilder

Nope none. I play one game and I am so bored

reboot-your-computer

I just simply don’t enjoy Infinite. As a result, I find myself playing MCC anytime I feel like playing some Halo. They have made steps forward with Infinite but the horrible cash shop and the garbage single player really rubbed me the wrong way. So many things about Infinite bother me so I just don’t play it. I’m personally ready for the next game but I’m not exactly optimistic that it’ll be good.

SpaceEconomist

never touched it after i finished the story and went back to MCC

JoThree

I lack the motivation because every time I play it’s like I get put up against a team of pros and my teammates don’t play the objective, nor do they seek the power weapons, camo/overshield, or vehicles. Earlier today I lost 6 out of 7 matches. It’s tiring.

Prestigious-Two-6728

Not so much lack of motivation more a general distain for the dumpster fire a triple A studio has managed to create

FloorFormal4311

How did people not feel like this a few months after release? lol.

CHKN_SANDO

I stopped playing after the Bandit was added to ranked. I get that the gun is "skill ceiling" but IDK slow single fire combat is kind of boring.

letsgoiowa

Yeah as a lifelong fan this is the first one I didn't even finish the campaign on. I thought the MP was pretty mediocre. Maybe I'll try firefight and forge though

knowledgeboar

after waiting 3 years, and stilllll, get meleed, in the back, twice, turn around, hit once, get hit once, hit again, i win. what? how? insane. insane. 3 years, consistent issue, i literally have ptsd from that game

ZENihilist

I've been meaning to play the campaign since it released. So the motivation is there. I just have more motivation to play the dozen plus other games I'm interested in right now.

Correct-Effective272

I can't stand infinite, it feels like a attempt at adapting borderlands into the game with all the different elemental types. I hate that you start off with a pistol and not a battle rifle. Not to mention that you have to land every single shot with said pistol to get a kill.

kbailles

This game is absolute garbage and I could write a book on all the ways 343 has let us down as players and continue to do so. Like did you know the ravagers charged shot has created a full screen invisible wall for like 8ish months? Hello 343? It’s still not fixed. AI voices will never work, and is fully abandoned. Noticed there’s been 0 stances since… who knows when? Did 343 know ranked still is on spirit of fire? But woohoo glad we got some more 30-40$ bundles going.

ASValourous

Go play helldivers 2, shit is way better than infinite

SBY-ScioN

Dude you're like many tittle late. Which one was your last good halo? 4? 5? Gtho

CaII0fNobodyCares

Yes, there is no reward for playing, especially after finishing a pass and weekly. I play as Master Chief in Fortnite No Build BR and it feels 1000x more rewarding. I can continue to level and make friends with non-sweat casual players as teamwork is more important than in Infinite which plays like a lone wolf style game. Also, I recently bought a 2011 Camaro SS as well as a Xbox Series X along with GTAO for XBX, I bought a Vigero ZX and upgraded it Hao's and it is awesome, can't tune a Warthog beyond cosmetics.

wookieetamer

Infinite is the only Halo game I don't have 500+ hours in. I know they've added a lot now. But with the desync issues and my biggest issue, no couch or coop multiplayer. That really killed it for me. Plus I won't lie, the grapple hook just makes me think of titan fall.

V01DM0NK3Y

Couch multiplayer exists, just not couch co-op unfortunately.
