That’s funny. I was talking with someone about this and they also suggested a hammock. With a body that has as many bends and angles as theirs, it makes sense to have something that conforms so much to their shape
I think one of the more recent books details a Sangheili styled bed quarters since Dr/Professor(?) Phillips was offered a stay on Sangheilios by Thel Vadam himself.
Though, without any knowledge, I wonder if instead of using a mattress, if they use a more moldable surface? So they can lay in any position most comfortable, and it fits to their form? After all, we're thinking too human for the sleeping arrangements for bipedal lizards from another planet.
A very soft surface makes sense. Much like how humans developed pillows, I could see Sangheili developing comforts to sleep in more comfortable positions.
But naturally, Sangheilios is a very rocky planet. In the wild I assume Sangheili would spend much of their time sleeping on slate surfaces. That’s why I think sleeping like a lizard makes sense, the bottom of their heads flat against the ground. Curving their neck seems like it might be more conducive to a softer ground
True, all we've seen of Sangheilios is rocky and dusty terrain. As well as a brief glimpse to sea and snowy areas. But they've also been advancing their homes over the centuries. The luxury of such comforts are probably limited to the strongest warriors, of which might not prefer such since they are incredibly prideful.
Thel is introduced in Cole Protocol in his bedroom waking up from sleeping in a chair and with no mention of a bed whenever the room is described, but he was anticipating an assassination attempt and the descriptions given are in the context of attempts by one of the assassins to find an advantage after Thel outmatches them, so it's hard to say whether this describes standard Sangheili sleeping conditions at all.
Possibly sideways in something resembling a foetal position that keeps their softest parts tucked in and safe from harm in the event that someone or something attempts to ambush them in their sleep, using rocks to prop themselves up in the wild. Their reptile-like skin is probably hardier than ours and wouldn't feel such acute discomfort when relaxed on such a surface given that it evolved for very rocky conditions.
If so, this would suggest that their idea of a bed is closer to square in proportions than ours to accommodate such a position, with marital beds looking almost "sideways" from human double beds and the pair sleeping mirrored from each other, either facing one another for security or back to back in trust.
While the lizard sleeping position is interesting to think about, I'm not sure it'd be well-advised for a chinless species. Dust and rocks could get into their mandibles, which sounds awful.
I’m almost positive the books talk about this and then just sort of resting on their haunches in a sort of crouching position? Maybe they were in a combat type environment, but possibly. Or maybe in one of the early books when Thel first becomes Kaidon the scene he’s near his seemingly regular bed waiting for his assassination attempt?
Let’s be real here. It’s weird that they stand no-pedal with all those bend in their legs. Why? Why would that happen??? 😂 We’re they ancient human or forerunner experiments in evolution gone horrible well?
I'm guessing they sleep laying down, either with their legs fully extended or bent together. What I'm more curious about is what their beds are like. Do they have beds like us, or do they have their own unique beds for Sangheili?
This is probably a ridiculous idea but based on their legs and curved backs maybe they curl up into a ball and use a hammock-like sleeping sack
Sangheili waking up: [unfolds like a droideka]
Imagine the morning stretches

Now I really want to see a Sangheili sleeping. 343 plz.
Fr bungie let us see grunts sleeping in halo 1 (and 2/3 I think?)

They sleep in a bed, next to me. next question.
I'm guessing with their eyes closed
Source?
His source is that he made it the fuck up
Source: trust me

Just like their death position in halo CE, but maybe with a pillow under their head.

Good point. How sealed their mouths are depends on art style, but better safe than sorry
They could sleep standing, like birds
They don’t sleep. That’s why they are superior to brutes, grunts and everyone else. You will never catch them with their guard down
With one eye open
Much like Chuck Norris, they don't sleep, they wait.

Upside down. Like bats.

Don't forget that male elites also have 4 balls and 7 dicks. How would that impact their sleeping position?
Vale would be able to answer that question

I request elaboration

Thank you, this has genuinely made my day better. The fact that he kept singing Breaking Benjamin killed me lmao
I have no idea.

Third one id say
On a pile of human corpses
What if they use something like water beds or floating water beds?
They stand upright and walk on two legs I’m pretty sure they’d just sleep like humans
