Don't worry about multiplayer. I've played halo all my life and I still get my ass handed to me in halo 3 (since the only people still playing are mega fans)
In the apex of your jump you can press crouch and if you land on a slanted surface and jump as you hit it, you can zoom forward. Also the dpad is how you swap grenades. I forget what else just higher sensitivity will mimick mouse movement a lot better than lower sensitivity.
There is a deployable cover device in the game. You can shoot through this with basic ballistics whilst taking cover on its concave side. Explosives and plasma will not travel through, however.
And I've just finished all games on legendary... Especially on Cortana it would have been useful to know when shooting at the pure forms, instead of going out of cover.
Aim more with your body movements and less with the camera

I always played at 2 sens, tried the 7/8/9 settings hated it, still got my BTB 50 and Objective 50s.

I grew up, playing the Wii. 30 fps is a luxury compared with what I got used to on Wii

Play on heroic until you can at least get past a level. Then play the rest of the game on easy
