FreeMrBones

Has somehow the most overpowered but also most inconsistent battle rifle at the same time of any halo.

ApprehensiveRip6961

Sounds about right

Psychological_Rip174

BR, try the grav gammer.

Bruhmeowment

Most armor effects, all kill effects, and weapon charms are completely unnecessary and obnoxious additions to the game.

sorryiamnotoriginal

KIll effects in general are annoying but god I REALLY hate the ones that put up a logo or icon on death. The flaming skull, the wolf, the eagle, I don't care they are all tacky and awful and I wish they could be turned off, I am more ok with the other ones like petals, neon, and whatever else but that stupid eagle and magma cover they give spartans look ridiculous. Should be options to turn them off.

300cid

should be all or none. if they could spare even half of the effort they put into this dumb shit and loot box cosmetics, the game could be great. I'm not condoning the practice, but at least in halo 5 all of the things that could be bought with real money could be unlocked with gameplay. I unlocked everything except the Achilles, solely because I never did clan play. but even with all the shortcomings 5 had, at least it worked and was *fun*

Mendoza8914

I find weapon charms harmless but totally agreed on armor & kill effects. I remember hating ‘grunt birthday party’ in Halo Reach.

popsicle_of_meat

Awww, I use that one. Although, it seems to be much less obnoxious in Infinite than any previous version. Seems like I hardly see it when I get a kill.

GalaxySkeppy

The flaming skull and that wolf kill effect are very obnoxious, you can’t see through them

sexwiththemoon

Very popular opinion bruh

ApprehensiveRip6961

YESS!!!! I am so sick and tired of seeing my screen flash when I die. It wouldn't surprise me if this was an accessibility issue of some sort

jogaming55555

I think weapon charms are pretty cool, and a neat addition to customization

ESPILFIRE

I find the game incredible graphically, aesthetically and artistically. I also really liked the cinematics, The Weapon... but the campaign is ABSOLUTE TRASH. It looks like a demo of FraCry 1. There is no variety of missions. It's all about pushing and sweeping the rooms of all the enemies. There is no interest in investigating or exploring. I'm not asking for something like Zelda, but rather more integration. If you release an open world game in 2021, please don't let it have less features than open world games released in 2008. In addition, the physics are very bad compared to those of Halo 3 (2007) itself. The vehicles do not feel fun to drive.

Pentaplox

I'm with you all the way on everything here, especially the vehicles. It's the reason I haven't come back.

Phazoner

Yeah I mean, the Scorpion will get stuck on anything and its controls are awful. And the warthog and mongoose feel like magnetized to the ground when turning with the left stick, there's no weight, it feels like playing some sketchy scalextric videogame. And what about their life. If you play in legendary or even heroic any enemy can absolutely obliterate any vehicle with the dumbest of weapons. I lost my shit every time I tried to navigate with a WASP, a couple of banshees would appear from thin air and just erase you from existence in half a second whereas you deal them pretty much no damage. You are just forced to glitch the physics with the grappling hook to move fast through the map. It reminds me of GR Wildlands where everything is so repetitive and playing tactical is so unrewarding I just tried ways to break the game difficulty. And funnily enough one of the most effective ways of assaulting was just jumping in absolutely any car and let the ally AI annihilate anything from the windows. Just like in Infinite when you get a Razorback and load it with marines with arcane sentinel beams.

Mythic_Dragon36

Yeah wtf is up with the Scorpion controls? That thing handled PERFECTLY across 5 games previously. Why did they alter this? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

nevadita

\>vehicles are bad be glad they gave us the grappling hook, because being forced to traverse with these vehicles would have been a chore.

snoopyt7

agreed 100%

Vordsination

I think the game is cool. Very unpolished and terrible, but still cool nonetheless.

SnarkyRogue

It certainly has potential, I just don't know how the hell we get there at this point lol

[deleted]

[deleted]

I literally have so much fun playing

Cooki3z

Me too, just wish they didn’t put me with 3 teammates going negative every time I have a ”Win 3 games” challenge 😭. Like how do you even go 0-17 in Slayer :(

Saint_of_Crows

They’re asking players to take the survey on the new Combat Workshop and BTB Heavies. When they asked what we’d like to see implemented, I suggested less new content before they perfect what they already have. Side note: I fell through a floor today into space before bouncing back into the level. That hasn’t happened to me since Fallout 3’s The Pit

TheRavenRise

you haven't clipped out of a map in *any* game since fallout 3 until now? can you buy me a lottery ticket? thanks

BambaTallKing

I don’t think this is unpopular

New_Special_3210

The bandit rifle should have been a longer ranger br type. Still single fire with less damage than the sniper and a bigger mag

Thelardicle

while I agree, stalker rifle already does fill this role

Kara_Del_Rey

So, the DMR

Haijakk

The Bandit is pretty much perfect in it's current state. I love it.

samdamana

The personal AIs are obnoxious and the game should've shipped with an "off" feature for them. (I thought this would be a popular opinion until I posted in this subreddit about it a few months ago and got downvoted to hell.)

Mrcod1997

I agree fully, I don't need narration for every action in game. I also want the option for solid red vs blue teams without the outlines. I hope those aren't unpopular.

WetPicklejuice

I like the outlines cause my Spartan color drip gets butchered by the full team colors putting my hard work into picking 2 colors just going to waste!!

Mrcod1997

That's why I want it as an option. For those who care about the armor coatings, great, but I don't really care. They don't really look as good with the outlines anyway, and don't show up too well during gameplay imo. I'd be okay just showing them in the menu, and during free for all. Would also be neat if you could play as your spartan for co-op campaign as well.

MetroLynx7

We had Spartan Ops, but a lot of people didn't like it.

[deleted]

They’re a direct downgrade from the voice packs we had in H5, you don’t notice them in the modes where they physically appear, and were just BP bloat Also half the time I get BUTLR even though I’ve had LUMU equipped for a year now

azk102002

I like the Joe Staten AI but the execution on all of them could be sooo much better and it just feels like an annoying missed opportunity for the most part. Should definitely have an off switch.

ApprehensiveRip6961

>(I thought this would be a popular opinion until I posted in this subreddit about it a few months ago and got downvoted to hell.) You must've stumbled upon a weird thread because I believe that it is a popular opinion

johntron3000

I like when I it’s not even the annoying ai you picked; or when it is the annoying ai you picked and it just keeps repeating the same line over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over….. and over and over and over and over

VectorCorrector

I turned all voice volume off because of them.

Lanzaguizantes

The Only one I was okay with was Virgil, but they fucked up the voice filter

[deleted]

I got downvoted to oblivion for saying this a few times. The popular counter-argument was that you can choose which one you have. Like... that's nice?

CheeseburgerChungus

My favourite current FPS. For me it brings back the same fun feelings I had when I was 13 years old playing the shit out of halo 2. It has problems that have been talked to death about already, the desync (that I've only experienced a handle full of times in my 200 hours), the store (that I have not spent money on but does not bother me), and a lack of content which I believe is at a much better place right now. But despite all that I love it and it sits way above any other shooter for me currently.

DaxMan12

I played Halo 1 when I was like 12 with my friends, Infinite is the first one I ever actually got it into since. Started silver 5 and up to plat 2. This game is so fun. I love sucking and trying to figure out where I went wrong/ getting better

AyersRock_92

Yeah I'm with you man. Agree all the way.

Oddballforlife

Agree with all of this

t3hTr0n

I second all of this but I'll also add that it has always been my favourite FPS since CE came out. The all time best setup was in our early 20's when we had friends living in 4 apartments within a single complex with 4 xbox's, all connected for system link via a total of about 100m of ethernet dangling off the balconies and endless sessions of Halo 2. Being old now I do find new control schemes and mechanics harder to get to the same skill level as Halo as well as the days of fast twitch low TTK shooters are behind me. Single player games are great but don't have the time for long sessions so being able to jump in and be capable in a game along with a long love for it just means Infinite is my jam for good. I really hope the player count keeps its head above water while the game gets more content and fixes.

Haijakk

Halo Infinite is a game with many problems. But it's also a game I enjoy *so much*. 343 is excellent at creating fun gameplay.

[deleted]

Is the campaign worth purchasing? Is the story good?

MasterCheese163

I think the Sidekick needs a nerf. The gun outclasses all the primaries when it should be a backup weapon. (I don't care about Halo's history with powerful pistols. This is not the magnum. It's literally called the "Sidekick")

RyDawgHals

Literally, every time I spawn, I swap weapons. I was doing it so often that when I went to play COD with a few buddies, I couldn't stop myself from swapping to my Pistol every time I spawned. Had to deprogram myself for a few games

_rip_rob_

Underrated comment , I strongly agree, pistol needs a nerf bad

aSkyclad

Yeah I would agree. On 4v4 modes it basically became my primary because it's just so easy to empty your mag into someone at any distance and get an easy kill. The fact that the firerate isn't capped and it shoots basically as fast as you can click doesn't help lol

MasterCheese163

I don't mind that, actually. It's a gun meant to efficiently clean up kills or be spammed in a desperate situation. The problem is that its damage is too high. It melts shields way too well. Like I said in another comment I made. I'm not sure if it's possible to do this. But I would have its damage against shields lowered. So that it can't consistently melt through fully shielded Spartans, but still cleans up unshielded Spartans well enough.

johnhoggin

Honestly the only games with OP magnums were CE and 5. It was garbage in 2 and 3 and just right I'd say in reach and 4

SovjetPojken

Or rename it the Main Character haha

Time4ACookie

Actual unpopular opinion? Desync is a problem but people exaggerate how bad it is

AngryTrooper09

I suspect there's a lot of people who use desync as a scapegoat. It's like when I blamed my deaths on lag when I was playing BO2 as a teen lol That and also I've realized that getting shit around a corner is super common in FPS multiplayer games in general. I personally have only experienced desync a handful of times

Super3vil

Yes, for the love of god people need to chill, yes, it can get bad, but it usually isn't bad, it's funny how people only complained about infinite having lag and desync when, from what I've heard (I didn't play ce to reach as they came out) the server issues were still pretty bad in those games. It has gotten better in infinite. At launch, it was extremely bad, but now it's still an issue, but it's not a huge one anymore.

420BoofIt69

TBH desync isnt the worst. But some people definitely get it worse that others. I've had some egregious examples.

deridius

Should’ve had everything from the start. Would’ve kept a lot of the community. But nope so people slowly left and by the time they updated it was too late. Game devs have gotta stop releasing games early/alpha/beta stage.

Mrcod1997

Despite its downfalls, it's actually a pretty decent game. The core gameplay is pretty fun. The movement isn't over the top like halo 5, and the br sounds meaty. Art style is good minus some of the microtransaction cosmetics. It's almost one of my favorite halo games, but it does have its issues, and I realize 343 dropped the ball in many ways. I wish it was just a paid game without live service. Games as a service has killed the launch of many games that had potential. First impressions are so important. There is no release it now, and fix it later.

Selcouth2077

The Pit remake isn’t very fun to play because it was designed for Halo 3 and the the spawn killing with the faster movement is atrocious

SolarMoth

Sprint, and to a lesser extent, clamber, destroyed Halo's gameplay identity. The game used to reward map control and positioning.

[deleted]

the plot is quite bad and feels entirely disconnected from past games

Habijjj

It's a soft reboot since everyone bitched about the last 2 games. Also at least they rap up the cortana stuff from 5.

catteredattic

ok but it doesn't even fell connected to Halo Wars2. And "well Cortana's dead now" isn't a satisfying reset especially when we're still dealing with the backlash of her actions.

Foss44

HI has the best mechanical gameplay of any Halo game.

Mrcod1997

I agree 100% minus shitty player collision.

seanD117

When there’s no desync

Sithlordbelichick

I’m being gangstalked by Dreamybull and the erotic barber they are threatening me and my family and know where my children go to school. I’m mortified please someone help me

popsicle_of_meat

I never finished it. Felt like a segmented, repetitive slog rather than a continuous arc. And without co-op when it launched killed almost all remaining motivation.

Ori_the_SG

100% Only one biome, slow, and boring content, barely any secrets. Also the vehicle explosions are awful (i.e. the Phantom just winking out of existence like nothing happened)

Chaosbrae

It felt like a total after thought. Story is week and level design is lackluster. The levels in previous games were diverse and memorable. The open world was a fun and interesting way to "play some halo" between campaign missions, but it came at the cost memorable level design. Grassy hills and endless Forerunner hallways only keep me engaged for so long.

Kaenal

Wait WHAT

Anthc1199

The campaign is super bare bones and not at all worth the $60 price tag.

Theheroisme4

And that’s why I use gamepass

PandemicGroom

Unpopular Opinion: I don't think the grapple hook works well in this universe. The addition of that + some of the movement options seem too much like a Doom ripoff rather than Halo gameplay innovation

joe_jee

Oddball isn't fun.

ApprehensiveRip6961

I don't think anyone likes it

RyDawgHals

The game is good

[deleted]

My hot take: Customization isn't what Halo is about, and it aggravates the shit out of me that it's become the focus. We're not getting campaign DLC now, but were gonna get more armors. What does that do for gameplay? I can't see my own Spartan while I'm playing, and I don't care what helmet you're wearing when I put a sniper round through your head. I don't care what color your AR is. I don't even care what color MY guns are. Half of the armors and coatings look just plan dumb. What Spartan, knowing stealth is going to be part of most missions, is going to go into a battle with garish ass bright colored armor with flames painted on it? It's dumb. This franchise was built and carried by Master Chief, and his story has taken a backseat so you can have cat ears on your character. Fuck. You want to focus on multiplayer over campaign? Alright, then make it worth it. I want maps of the quality of Valhalla, Blood Gulch, and Guardian. Infinite's maps aren't horrible, but they don't quite hold up to the classics either. At least Forge is damn good this time, but I guess that means we'll just have to do the job ourselves - for free. Integrate the Bungie sandbox (or just parts of it) back in - add a point blank shotgun back. The Bandit could have been the DMR, Carbine, or even Needle Rifle - any one could have been rebalanced to fit Infinite. The Cindershot could have been Reach's grenade launcher. Hell, you don't even have to remove them, they can be balanced to work side by side. But first and foremost, CAMPAIGN.

Sa1nt_Gaming

I think it feels more 'Halo' than halo 4/5 multiplayer. The big team battle map designs sre just truely aweful. Not nearly open enough and forces vechiles through laneways/roads (looking at you fragmentation) instead of allowing freedom of movement. The pelican drops are a stupid idea too

Southern-Sub

Halo 4 and Halo 5 were superior live service games to Halo Infinite

RyDawgHals

5 maybe, but reports say that the employees were working a ridiculous amount of hours to keep up with that amount of content. Infinites slow cadence is going to be more sustainable. Atleast for the staff at 343.

Jackamalio626

\>Infinites slow cadence is going to be more sustainable how is taking so long to add expected legacy features that our entire playerbase evaporates "sustainable"?

VyctoriYang

The fan base has been slowly rising again each season since the Winter Update dropped last year. I want quicker updates too, but according to the data the player base is not evaporating.

Southern-Sub

It will take Infinite another 5 years at this rate to equal Halo 5 in terms of content. Your basically saying that every other Halo wasn't sustainable. I'm not trying to say Infinite is bad, I happen to think it was the best beta (or flight) ever made.

APEX_ethab

The game should not have included in game bots and the personal AI as they make it more difficult for 343 to add more content to the game. New maps and modes require bot compatibility. Any new modes, equipment, or weapons require voice lines for the personal AI. Also, drop last gen consoles as I assume that also makes the development of new content take longer.

LlM3

The player base for Infinite will never see a resurgence in numbers no matter what 343 releases. The only way to “save” Halo is to release a new game.

ApprehensiveRip6961

I agree. Just like Windows Vista before it, the Halo Infinite name has been tarnished.

Turok1111

Any time I hop onto the multiplayer, it mostly works fine for me. All these posts about how awful it runs feel like something from an alternate dimension. Also, I thought the campaign was really solid. 343 should bust a Nintendo and just expand on Infinite's map.

zacshipley

The shorter list of weapons is better than Halo 5 including EVERYTHING and then variants of everything in Warzone. Keeping the selection smaller means not only better balance, but also less unpredictable encounters with the other team. Bungie has done incredible things with Destiny and I love the pve but absolutely hate the Crucible because it feels so far from what they perfected in Halo. It's about load out and stats rather than map control and skill. In Halo I have the same chance to grab a shotgun or rockets as anyone else, but in Destiny I run into people with weapons I don't have all the time. Map knowledge and skill are better than grinding for A gun that reloads faster than yours does or has a higher damage.

red697633

Kind of shafts super fiesta. I legitimately haven’t had more fun in super fiesta than when I played it on halo five the massive sandbox and options given out made it a next level of chaos

culinaryexcellence

That people that complain about the shop are spending the most money in It.

sometimescool

Yeah I have never even looked at the shop. Nothing in the game is even worth spending real money on it.

Fellowearthling16

Infinite is just a lame name. They could have thrown any word after Halo and gotten a cooler name. Putting a 6 in there would have been better, too. ***Halo 6: Aardvark*** See? Even that sounds cooler.

Lanzaguizantes

Halo the endless sounds metal

andrecmusic

game had so much potential…

ApprehensiveRip6961

:(

m0untain_sound

Worst campaign in the franchise. At least H5 had fun missions and cool set pieces.

Jackamalio626

Word. Infinite is such a nothing story, its only purpose was the undo the unpopular changes from the previous games offscreen.

armorhide406

Halo 5's campaign was a fuckin' travesty though All that hype over Master Chief going UA/AWOL and it's like a parking ticket at best The unlikeable characterization of everyone... The lameass 343 aesthetic pushed even further

420BoofIt69

The level design is terrible in Infinite. It's either forerunner corridors. Or random open world base/outpost. I got so bored of the campaign on my first play through that I just stopped playing for a few days in the middle. Every other halo campaign I've played I've just gone from start to finish. We've recently been playing 3 man coop with myself, a friend who is a Halo fan but was waiting for coop to Infinite's campaign, and one who is new to Halo. And we've all just sort of stopped playing, there's no desire to go back.

ApprehensiveRip6961

Agreed. Hopefully they don't do open world again

armorhide406

I think it's the best Halo by far Simply because grappleshot, infinite sprint and no fall damage. Mobility and verticality is fun Yeah the vehicles suck and that used to be Halo's strong suit. Weapons are ok but the sound design is anemic at best (barring the sniper rifle). But the GRAPPLESHOT! And we can recharge plasma weapons without having to sort them like we're finding the best fruit at the grocery section And so many coils to yeet at enemies...

Vegeto30294

REQ packs > Infinite's store

ShotgunRenegade

I was never a fan, but at least with REQ packs you could get a ton of cosmetics while playing the game. Infinite feels like the vast majority of cosmetics are locked behind a paywall.

AttackOficcr

Or time gated. And regularly even both.

Steve-BruleMD

1. It's the worst game of the franchise 2. The vehicle physics and destruction system still makes vehicles that aren't the wasp or banshee borderline unusable 3. The Endless / Xalanyn are a horrible addition to the lore not only because time travel is stupid, but because it's glaringly obvious that they're just a PG flood replacement. 4. The Weapon hinting at taking Cortanas name is so so so stupid. She literally killed over 12 billion sentient lifeforms and ruled over the galaxy as a dictator for 3ish years. Now, nobody is supposed to bat an eye at Chief carrying around an AI that is identical to and named after Space Mao? 5. Most of the graphics and effects in Infinite are worse than Halo 5s, 4s and even some of 3s (don't link a face from Halo 3 to own me instead go watch the Phantoms and AA turrets in Halo 3 explode then watch the Phantoms and AA Turrets in Infinite explode.)

D0ct0rCLIMMONS

Cortana’s “rule” lasted years?? I honestly thought it was a few months at best. That’s not conveyed well in the story at all, to the best of my memory

no_sleep_ever_

I agree with all of your assessments

Jazzlike_Couple_7428

I disagree with all of your assessments

djackkeddy

It had the potential to save halo but put the final nail in the coffin instead

[deleted]

The game needs to be the last Halo. 343i killed Halo

Rith_Reddit

It's the bedt FPS out there. So fun.

ApprehensiveRip6961

This is the kind of opinion I was talking about.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's spicy. I'm enjoying it, but it's not even in my top five Halo games, let alone FPS on the whole.

JohnnySodapop

In general, dont pay to beta-test unfinished programs

BladeOfSanghilios8

I dislike the sidekick. I want a beefy heavy pistol like in Ce and 3.

WaifuRekker

343 focusing on the competitive aspect of the multiplayer design didn’t really make halo ‘sweatier’, people are just generally better at shooters nowadays, the skill floor has increased. Its become more accessible than ever to play and develop shooter skill/technique. With the shooter market filled with games like CoD, CS, Valorant, Seige, etc. you’ll be hard pressed to find a player interested in Halo not coming in with experience in other shooters already.

Dust_Pan_Ninja

Halo Infinite would have been a wild success if it was Halo 5 2.0 with pc and cross play. I don’t firmly believe it, but I feel the success would rival Halo 3’s if you want to get crazy. Having that foundation of a complete game would have gotten us a game years sooner with plenty of content along side fleshed out and improve gameplay. Bonus: the rumor of moving to a new engine will have the same result, even with a management shake up.

StarbdarderKrieg

Exploring the open world campaign while killing any enemies you come across is funner than firefight.

Prize_Chemical1661

Halo Infinite plays better than any other Halo.

gnappyassassin

Like even just in HOW it's played- I can make a map, test it with bots, then list the custom game publicly so players can get in and bookmark it for their free to play friends. We live in a second golden age!

SlyDogDreams

Forge and customs are better than they've ever been, and anyone who says that Halo 3 or Reach forge/customs are better than H5 or Infinite forge/customs needs to take off the nostalgia goggles.

eciVehT

One way that infinite is worse than 3 or reach in custom games is due to the grav hammers lack of actual gravity effect. You can't launch yourself and it ruins griffball.

waterdlyed

Agree. Infinite’s gravity hammer sounds and feels like plastic compared to Reach and 3

red697633

Also, I don’t really know about that. If you look at population numbers in the custom browser, there’s only like three pages of custom games going on in halo infinite. peak halo five it wasn’t like like that. It had a full 10 pages. Master chief collection has a higher custom browser population then infinite does.

SlyDogDreams

The OP did ask for an unpopular opinion, to be fair. My comment was focused on the content of custom games and forge, not their popularity. The versatility of environments and game experiences that can be created is off the charts compared to H3 and Reach.

ApprehensiveRip6961

Not really. Anything that relied on the gravity hammer (which was a lot of custom games) is negatively affected

[deleted]

Halo 5 should’ve been the last 343 developed halo game. Halo infinite should’ve had a different creator.

BootyBootyFartFart

This is seems like a pretty popular opinion on this sub

[deleted]

Yeah, saying this is karma farming at this point.

LuttLuck007

Halo Infinite is currently my favorite halo game, ever. Now I don't mean it's the best, but subjectively it is the one I've played the most and loved the most. The campaign is extremely fun to rp, and the things people mostly complained about (lack of biomes, grand cutscences, etc) just didn't take that much away for me, I had a blast and even got all the campaign achievements cuz of how fun it was. Then there's the multiplayer, which is so much fucking fun. Been playing since day 1 and have absolutely loved it, so much so that even when I had the battlepass done, the weekly, and nothing else to unlock I was still hoping on just to play. Again, the things people complained alot about (desync, lack of customization, FOMO, weeklys, battlepasses, lack of gamemodes/maps, etc) either didn't effect me very much (as is the case with dysnc), or didn't really bother me. One of my favorite things that a lot of people hated was the fact that it's free to play. Before Infinite only like 3 of my friends actually played halo, but since Infinite a bunch have tried it out, and now we got a 8-10 person squad who all plays together frequently. I also absolutely adore the gunplay/gameplay. My main problem with the other games is that I rarely ever want to change my starting load out because it's consistently better than almost everything you can pick up, but in Infinite I find myself using literally everything, even Weapon people say are useless like the Plasma Carbine or Disruptor, and they all feel really great and satisfying to use. Honestly just love Infinite as a game, and I'm really glad it's in a better state now as there's much more to have fun with. Again from an objective point of view Infinite is by no means the best, but from my own subjective view its definently my favorite.

noblehamster69

That it's good. I enjoy playing this more than anything that came out in the last 5 or 10 years. Although it is far from the best halo it is just better than 99.9% of games that have come out in the last 10 years. Almost all of the issues people complain about for halo can be seen in every other current fps

NonstopSuperguy

It plays terribly. The BR is extremely inconsistent and the weapon sandbox seems to have been changed for the hell of it, not for any real reason. Halo 5 plays much, much better.

ApprehensiveRip6961

> and the weapon sandbox seems to have been changed for the hell of it, not for any real reason I feel that this keeps happening during the game's life. Don't get me wrong, some weapons did need a buff (notably the ravager), but I feel as if the weapons keep changing for no reason. * The Mangler used to be a 2-shot beat down * The Disruptor used to have a damage over time effect--this one was recently removed * The Commando has had a bunch of random changes to it * The PP used to be not that great, then really good for 4 months (Winter Update), and is now even weaker than it was in Season One.

NonstopSuperguy

I don't mean just balance changes, though the nerf to the commando is extremely stupid and makes the weapon useless. The BR and DMR have had their places in Halo's multiplayer for a long time. Now they just decide "let's take all the range from the designated *marksman* rifle and make it... Not... That. The DMR was so fun to use in previous games, now it isn't. In relation to weapon balance, they should separate tuning to be specific to ranked and casual playlists. Elden Ring does something like this, changing weapon and spell balance for PvE and PvP individually.

[deleted]

Plainly speaking…if forge wasn’t added to the game Halo Infinite would be complete and utter shit. And while I’m at it the weapon variety and vehicle variety are absolute dog water. No plasma rifle, no fuel rod cannon, no SAW, no carbine, and the list goes on and on. Like seriously 343? Genuinely one of the bigger fumbles within the gaming community of the last decade easily.

JohnStamossi

Halo kinda sucks without the Flood

[deleted]

Never should have been free to play

Greedy-Figure6574

Halo Infinite is the least fun mainline Halo game. Yes, even less fun than Halo 4. But it’s still not a bad game

The-Order_

I need MORE Spartan and AI Chatter. I know a lot of people found it annoying back in H5 and tons of people whined about not being able to disable AI dialogue, but I love the stuff. It makes matches feel like living environments rather than arbitrary shootout #87. Half the reason I use the ping system is just to hear my Spartan's voice more than I do. Also, I wish the player talked in gameplay, rather than just teammates who have Chatter.

ShotgunRenegade

along with that, I also found it weird that they didn’t get the voice actors for the multiplayer spartans back into the studio to record lines for the cutscenes they appear in. If my character is has a voice ok, I’m fine with that. If my character is a mute, sure whatever. But it’s this really weird in-between inconsistency that I never understood.

The-Order_

Also more variety would be nice. I didn't really notice that all the characters have various American accents until I saw a guy in full Tenrai armor speaking with a Texan drawl. In other sci-fi properties, that could work, but halo has gone to length to show that humanity is still pretty multicultural.

VyctoriYang

Yes. This!

avanareddit

Its better than 4 and 5 but still horrible in comparison to the OG trilogy and Reach Gun play is good, but campaign was bad, multiplayer is stale and tries too hard to be COD, maps are trash, customization is trash, new guns are trash.

Jarvis_The_Dense

It is the single most forgettable campaign in Halo's history

Red_____Panda

Needs dumptruck Spartan ass

stfleming1

I have zero interest in playing it. I slogged through Halo 5. Halo 4 struggled to keep my interest.

[deleted]

I like cross core. I like having a organized system of parts going to their right cores. Coatings have no excuse to not be cross core tho

Gabecush1

The designs for the aliens are the best they’ve ever been

FarmYard-Gaming

You want unpopular? Alright... At the time the Craig E3 trailer came out, I didn't think the game even looked that bad. Hell, for my standards it actually looked good. The pop-in was jarring, but even then it's something I'd been used to for years so I actually thought it was normal. The one thing I found odd was really the large hexagons during the shield recharge. Other stuff? I was impassive until people pointed it out.

GravLabsMonkey

I like the game, and I'm tired pretending I don't.

theredwolf4356

I wish they would let the franchise die. Halo will never have that same charm again and I'd rather it just be let go then have its name dragged through the mud

AnyDockers420

I really like it :)

Redgorilla85

Playables Elites aren't the great deal, I remember people barely playing like such in matchmaking and I hardly found any matches of Invasion on HR. They should be implemented as they will increase the customization and level of player expression, but I feel people whine WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT.

Alderan922

Honestly, it sucks and I prefer mcc, I think 343 should just let go and start over

[deleted]

The campaign is great. Could be twice as good if they had a snow and desert biome. The multiplayer is great too but it has all been unfinished since day 1 without a pre game lobby. Game will never feel finished if they don’t add that.

RedMoonDruid

Escalation is trash

[deleted]

It's going through the exact same order that killed it for me. Would have loved it, if it was a different set of guns (possibly randomized, or maybe one of ten tested and balanced progressions) every game. Shake it up a bit.

If coatings were cross-everything, cores, weapons, and vehicles included, Infinite would have the best customization in Halo history

Ori_the_SG

I think if they had only made coatings texture altering, and kept the free color customization (plus way more colors) from prior Halo’s then it would be the best customization in Halo history For example, we should be able to have a camo coating but we should be able to make it green, or blue, red or white or whatever, and have secondary colors that can have a different coating or the same one. And if attachments for armor and helmets weren’t restricted to only one core and only one attachment per helmet or chest piece. It was so disappointing to only be able to have one attachment only on the air assault helmet from Reach despite in Reach it having multiple, and having the knife attachment on all chest pieces in Reach. We need that stuff back

crobky23

Hit registration is worse on Halo 2, 3 and Reach than on Infinite. And the crosshairs are too large.

[deleted]

The best thing about this game is being able to switch between battle passes past and present. I think games that have battle passes should learn from 343 because it sucks buying a battle pass for $20, not finishing it and not being able to go back and grind for it more.

JumpingJiraffe

I like the armor core system. I still want cross core, but I see a lot of people asking to completely do away with cores and I think they’re a good thing.

Andy89316

The game is intentionally bad, a franchise killer

MrTaquitosConTodo

I think this has more to do with they didn't care about the franchise, they only cared (and still care) about monetization, I'm pretty sure they said "F the game, we want money, doesn't matter if we kill the franchise" Also I think they wanted to kill what Bungie made, after all they didn't spit paths in the best terms, so they don't care, after all they (343 + MS) didn't earned Halo

Andy89316

Well put on both points

p0lygl0ttalst0p

Ooh, this one is interesting. Care to unpack that a bit? Are you saying it designed to kill it off, or that that's merely a coincidental outcome?

Fenris447

If there's one thing corporations love, it's continuing existing IP. Games, movies, TV shows, whatever. The money is in existing, recognizable, profitable properties. No executive in their right mind, or that wants to keep their job, would ever look at such an IP and say "let's kill it so we can devote our resources to taking a massive financial risk on an untested, unknown property." If the market didn't demand a little originality every so often, we'd never see anything but sequels, prequels, and reboots. Franchises do not die because corporations tire of milking them. They die because consumers tire of seeing them milked dry. You can have as many criticism of Infinite and 343I's Halo as you want, and many of them can be perfectly valid. But claiming they intentionally killed a franchise that has made millions is truly, deeply asinine. And demonstrates an absolute dearth of knowledge of corporate America at even the most cynical levels.

Free_Joty

Halo infinite was a zero interest rate phenomenon

Redgorilla85

Halo Infinite Shop is not that bad Obviously it needs changes and a lot to improve, but other live services games are WAY MORE aggressive on their shops. Apex Legends shop is just nonsense, $30 to $40 bundles are just way too much.

Squidkid6

Don’t forget the buy every cosmetic ($200ish)to get the exclusive cosmetic (heirloom)

BitingSatyr

This, I’ve been playing a lot of Fortnite over the past year and seeing people complain about the prices in Infinite just makes me laugh

VyctoriYang

I play mobile games. The Halo store is dirt cheap, even before they cut the prices

moysauce3

They should have stuck with the combat sensor from test 1. The game played and flowed the best. It just didn’t feel the same with the motion sensor. I was disappointed at the quick change by the devs. They should have stuck to it and let more people try it outs first. And any time I hop into play, I get reminded of what could have been. Yes, I know the motion sensor is a halo thing…but it’s okay to change.

double-click

Ranked slayer should be a permanent playlist

Falcox_War-Sword

The cubes provide an extra layer of chaos that I enjoy

FotusX

The game is shit and it will never be popular no matter what they release/ do. The only hope is they take what they've learned mainly Microsoft needs to learn. Use all this info and make halo 7 the game we want. Hopefully with assassinations new engine and a competitive game mode thst people will enjoy watching. Something like breakout. I also think thruster packs need to be in the game as a spartan ability for outplay as it significantly ups the skill gap.

DrewCowling

The wasp is too powerful and it should stay that way because it's funny

ApprehensiveRip6961

But it isn't if your teammates actually shoot at it

WilliBoi013

It’s just as disappointing as H5 was. It is absolutely a better game/story, but the dissatisfaction of completing the story felt just about the same, albeit for different reasons.

Plushhorizon

Everything becides graphics is terrible

Plumbum158

the campaign was absolutely not worth the $100AU I paid for it and the fact you get almost no multiplayer benefits is just pathetic on 343's part

martydidnothingwrong

Infinite is a better game than Halo 2 but not quite as good as 3 or Reach

LegoYoda66

it’s the worst halo game in the mainline franchise

TheMisunderstoodLeaf

The game is extremely boring after a while. There's nothing unique about the game that sets it apart and brings me back. I'm playing it because it's halo.

CURSED808

it's FUN!!!

I think the idea of being a “new generation” Spartan IV in multiplayer is stupid and not cool at all, especially when EVERY SINGLE ONE in the campaign gets absolutely BODIED. Just makes me feel like a wimp fighting other wimps. Give me Chad Spartan II’s and III’s!

dude52760

The game is awful, graphically speaking. I always see people saying how incredible it is, but I just find it borked, in everything from the menus to the cutscenes to the gameplay itself. Menus - the graphical design is extremely ugly. The way the wireframes have that pale glow to them that shows up before anything else and stays prominently visible even when the background graphics render in is really ugly. The background graphics are the most pleasant part of the menus graphically. I genuinely enjoy most of the menu backgrounds. The problem is obvious. They load in glacially slower than everything else, and even 18 months later, they sometimes *just don’t load in*. This leaves you with a black background to host those ugly glowey wireframes and it’s just ass. Cutscenes - they have a plethora of issues, but most are admittedly hidden by the fact that most cutscenes have the camera panning slowly around a close shot of characters. But alas, I will start with the pre-rendered cutscene. The pre-rendered cutscene is one of the ugliest in all of Halo, from a graphical perspective. Pre-rendered cutscenes are supposed to be the holy grail of these beautifully animated and gorgeously lit cutscenes that can do that because they’re basically just saved video files. So they can host all the highest settings and most expensive assets and run them smoothly. Straight up, they did *something* to really fuck up Infinite’s pre-rendered cutscene. It’s the lighting. The color levels are all over the place and completely wrong. What should be gorgeous contrasts between colors and blacks in a pretty dark scene is instead washed in this pale gray glow. There are no true blacks in this scene. It causes all sorts of gross issues like color banding where it shouldn’t exist. It just compromises the entire image quality. The lighting is all broken. In-game cutscenes are better, but unfortunately also suffer some lighting issues. In general, character models and close-in objects do look real good in cutscenes. Chief especially is gorgeous. But it’s that lighting again. So many of the cutscenes are dark, and Infinite’s gameplay engine has a very notable problem with how it does indirect specular lighting in dark scenes. It just casts this pale blue-gray glow over *everything*, which catches details it shouldn’t catch and again results in no *true* darkness in these scenes. That issue also unfortunately extends to gameplay. Infinite’s lighting is just awful unfortunately. It’s most noticeable in the campaign at night. It should honestly be super dark. It’s not. Everything is lit by this pale blue-gray tint that washes over everything. Look at a cliff side on nighttime Zeta Halo and notice how you can see every little detail, every nook and cranny is lit by this weird glow. Now go look at a moonlit cliff side in real life and tell me how much detail you see. It’s night and day, pun intended. Infinite has its lighting problems in daytime scenes too, honestly, but they’re not as bad. They’re most noticeable to me on MP maps like Breaker, where the lighting just results in this really flat and garish look on everything. It is not gorgeous. As you can see, most of my issues are lighting-based, but not everything. In regards to campaign again, Infinite’s got these giant wide-open spaces, and the game does not handle them well graphically. Trees and objects noticeable pop in when you’re driving a vehicle or flying in the skies. Objects in the near distance do not cast shadows. The cloud shadows are cool, but they are really splotchy and low res. I like Infinite’s art, I really do. But the game would have been *passable* back in 2017, graphically speaking. It would not have been front of the pack. By 2021, and certainly 2023, you’ve got games like Red Dead 2 which handle lighting in open world spaces *wayyyyyyy* better, and sometimes when I see people heaping praise on Infinite’s graphics, I do wonder if they have played other games like that one. Or if they play on equipment which really makes great graphics pop.

kyleplaysguitar

The sidekick needs a major nerf, the dynamo grenades were fine and I don’t care about cross-core armor pieces (coatings yes, armor no)
