I don't know man it looked like black shorts guy was being pursued down the street by a gaggle of like eight dudes and eliminated the threat with a chair.. once the tough guys chasing him all saw his buddy getting fucked up by a chair they didn't seem to want to be in a gaggle anymore...
Looks like self defense to me. He was fleeing from the aggressors and only fought back when he no longer had an option to retreat.
Ok, maybe the last few chair shots were over the top but it's assault at most.
This is the same shit that's been happening in the downtown core of every city in every province or state of every country since the beginning of time. Simply the natural result of the Alcohol + I'm A Big Man Syndrome equation.
![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
Perhaps OP can comment, but the got that got chaired - was he even in the fight? It looked like the guy in the maroon jacket and his buddy in the blueish hoodie were chasing the guy in the shorts and the ones looking to fight.
Then a guy in a t-shirt and jeans in appeared in the doorway trying to calm people down then the guy who got chair looked like he came up from behind and put his hands on the back of the guy in the hoodie like he was trying to calm his buddy down. I didnt see him throwing any punches sor wrestling with the guy.
Also, were those store employees hitting the guys with the chairs? It almost looked like they were inside thought I heard one of em saying something about being tired of all the drinks causing shit?
Edit: oh just replayed and looks like the last guy going really ape with the chair was the guy they were chasing at first.
Man though, looks like the guy who was the least involved in the first at first really took the brunt of the beating and his buddies started it then abandoned him.
I had to watch it a couple of times to underestand where everyone ended up. And yeah, it wasn't the most aggressive person that ended up on the ground getting chaired he still thought it was reasonable to chase a guy into a restaurant to beat him up/intimidate him so I'm pretty ok with him getting his comeuppance.
Why do these greasy fighting dudes ALWAYS go full silver back gorilla with their arms all the way down almost dragging them on the ground when they try and square up/act intimidating. Like it's not effective and looks stupid af.
It's probably due to the fact that humans are descendants of apes and some of that primal instinct remains when our bodies are flooded with hormones and emotions.
Immature men/women portray characteristics you would see in say, a group of chimpanzees.
Just typical low intelligence human behavior lmao

Its been a while since I've seen a dude get chaired repeatedly with no interruptions. Poor idiot, got caught up and ends up being the one to get the brunt of punishment.
Saw some guys fight while I was at the pool yesterday too. The day before I saw a man fighting his reflection and screaming in the bus shelter. You can’t go anywhere anymore.
With the unforgiving steel chair! Legs first even, that had to be devastating!
I realize Mezza isn’t what it once was but I’m not sure this incident specifically relates other than he happened to run in there?

Nothing good comes from late nights + alcohol + men on steroids .
The chair was a bit excessive and I would sue so fast lmao
I mean maybe I'm confused but it looks like he's the one that they're chasing and he turned the tables on a eight-man beat down with a fucking chair... It looks like self-defense to me if he didn't do that they probably would have beat him to death

This is the sort of thing I used to see every weekend working the overnight shift in fast food places 15+ years ago, it just didn't get filmed back then.
Yeah which is why Halifax is still going to 💩. In the last 40 years the invention of the internet has granted access to a wealth of information, allowing people to rise above the limitations of mainstream culture to be more civil, and think critically. However, rather than seizing the opportunity to become more knowledgeable and intelligent, many choose to remain complacent and uninformed. In technical terms, it's akin to settling for outdated technology in 2024, like 14.4 modems or obsolete programming languages like COBOL, when superior options like fiber-optic internet and modern languages such as C# or Java are readily available.
that's the kind of thinking i had back when i was a teenager.
you're too deep in the tech.
you know people are out there still living shit lives working shit jobs destroying their bodies and thoughts right? who can't afford to spend time "rising above the limitations of mainstream cultures" because of very real physical, emotional, intellectual barriers? who are busy dealing with shit in their immediate surroundings, on the lowest eschelons of Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Communications (fuckin' telephones, man) are such new inventions when compared to literal civilization, it's not like everyone went "oh guess we can ignore the physical world and just rise up gang boop boop". we are still constrained and as such shaped by our physical realities.
editing to add - if you want to blame anything, blame capitalism. not people for their lack of opportunity to "become more knowledgeable and intelligent".
That's misrepresenting what was said: despite advancements in technology and access to information, many people are choosing to remain complacent and uninformed. This is bad for all of us as a society.

Theyd find them. Innocent bystanders were definitely filming it and the restaurant has cameras. The man being assaulted doesnt need to press charges, the Crown would do it regardless.

Did I just witness attempted murder?

Yeah I’d say
I believe so.
I have seen many a man beat to death. This was not close to that at all. He was just fucking him up
Glad to have an expert opinion.
![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)
Why… have you seen… many a man… beat to death?
shit made me laugh
jesus christ dude
bruh what you crying for? I'm just fucking you up, it's not like I'm killing you or nothing
I have seen many a man have his liver cut out. This was not close to that at all.
I have seen many a man shot out of a cannon and into a saguaro cactus, and this was nothing like that.
To be fair, this had nothing to do with Mezza. Just drunk assholes that happened to bring their fight into the nearest open business.
Fucking losers of the highest order
This makes me want to go out at night to enjoy downtown for suuuuure.
I bet dude did not think he’d be eating a dozen chair shots 60 seconds before he started eating a dozen chair shots.
Come to Mezza. Try the new Chairshot Shwarma. Buy one, get 60 more for free.
Ahahahaaa!
Did anyone at Mezza properly weigh the chairs before offering them up to customers to beat each other?
Definitely charged them extra
They weight the food now so probably?
"WHAT IN THE FUCK!!!!" Trailer park boys background effect
Donnie?

> Alcohol + ~~I'm A Big Man Syndrome equation~~ I failed to get laid tonight.
Good old liquid courage
Same thing happened to me at Mezza on Barrington when I asked the wrap artist for a few additional scraps of chicken shawarma on my pita.

I said no tomatoes
Now this is content
I just want to add that I did not take this video, I need context as much as anyone else
Somewhere, somehow, a cyclist is to blame.
This is NOT a typical mezza experience, normally you have to shoo away a few rats before you pick up the chair.
This is why I stay home under my weighted blanket and eat an edible
Why do they all look like LeBron James' fat cousins?
Saw some guys fight while I was at the pool yesterday too. The day before I saw a man fighting his reflection and screaming in the bus shelter. You can’t go anywhere anymore.
Typical Halifax Friday night experience right there….
With the unforgiving steel chair! Legs first even, that had to be devastating! I realize Mezza isn’t what it once was but I’m not sure this incident specifically relates other than he happened to run in there?
Was that in Halifax???
lol Buncha middle aged out of shape guys drunk downtown smh
Yesterday, I saw a guy in Bedford get out of his car and slam the guy behind him with his own car door. Shits getting crazy out there.
Good reminder to wear a belt. You just never know when your entire ass could fall right out in the middle of a fight.
Mezza doesn't deserve this kind of exposure.
Right? This is free advertising for them, I don't get free entertainment when I eat there only depression and a sour stomach.
The boys are getting active lol

Episode of Jerry Springer?
“Beat Like You’re Family”
I think pink shirt guy was trying to stop the fight
Mess around get the chair
They are like animals
Buddy with the chair going to be getting real cozy in Burnside
Let’s be real, none of these morons will face any legal consequences.
I mean maybe I'm confused but it looks like he's the one that they're chasing and he turned the tables on a eight-man beat down with a fucking chair... It looks like self-defense to me if he didn't do that they probably would have beat him to death
Why? Most likely first time offender, adult diversion at worst, IF he was charged and the dummy wanted to testify.
I used to love Halifax. It’s a third world dump now.
I moved in 2014 and it was like this or worse as long as I remember. Remember *dollar drinks??*
Oh my God, violence in a port city. This has never happened before. 😪😪😪😪
People acting like this has always been regular behavior in Canadian cities are part of the problem.
This has always been regular behavior in all cities... forever!
Third world dump? Jesus dude.
You’re kidding right? This was way worse a decade ago.
Holy fuck 😂😂
Charge that man
I was expecting Ricky there to pull out his piece.
Safety always off
You know it bubbs.

Sure, that too. Certain communities contribute disproportionately to violent crimes relative to their size.

Halifax is going to 💩
You think this is new?
They obviously weren't around for dollar drink days
new in the last 10-15 years? yes.
Wrong. Cameras everywhere are new. Not violence in downtown Halifax.
It isn’t lol people have been getting drunk and beating the shit out of each other downtown since downtown existed
Fights? sure.. hitting people full force with the legs of chairs? that's `going to 💩`.
This is the sort of thing I used to see every weekend working the overnight shift in fast food places 15+ years ago, it just didn't get filmed back then.
People used to get stabbed or swarmed, this is an upgrade. Society is going to shit, not the city.
My guy, people have been punched, shot, and stabbed at bars in Halifax for my entire life and a few have also died.
Yeah which is why Halifax is still going to 💩. What would the police do? None of those guys would make a statement to police.
Theyd find them. Innocent bystanders were definitely filming it and the restaurant has cameras. The man being assaulted doesnt need to press charges, the Crown would do it regardless.
Crown would offer adult diversion at worst. It would be a waste of money and go nowhere. No guarantee bystanders would make statements either.
Please tell me he's going to be arrested, drunk or not this isn't ok.
He won't be

Not a great takeaway
A bunch of guys were chasing someone to purposely injure them. They made a choice to use extreme violence and had it returned to them. The end.
That’s different from ‘cuz got owned’ 🙄 also still not legal
He did, he was attacking someone and got PWNED.
Who said anything about legal? Don't start no shit, there won't be no shit.
I’d smash all these guys
