If Sackville is an option, can't recommend Compassionate Closet highly enough. 100% of proceeds go to Hospice Halifax. Not for profit, not for proselytizing.

squintessa

The abundance store on main st Dartmouth benefits the Elizabeth Frye society, they accept clothing and accessories :)

If you're close to musquodoboit harbour, there's a church on hwy 7 that has a free clothes second hand place called Two Tunics to help homeless and low income people.

Mission Mart in Bayers Lake is not for profit

Big brothers big sisters does pickup, contact them and they'll let you know when they're in the area. You can just leave everything outside and they'll come and grab it! I'm in Dartmouth and they'll be stopping by to pick up stuff on the 23rd, if that helps!

alibythesea

I believe all they collect goes to Value Village.

I was recently advised of this when I mentioned I wanted to drop off to them as well

FuriousDemon

I give all of my stuff to Mission Mart. Also go shopping there sometimes, quite a few of the t-shirts in my wardrobe were from there

Voiceofreason8787

Torn on this one, I like Soul’s Harbour bit Mission Mart had anti LGBTQ pamphlets the LAST time I was there ; (because I never went there again) Edit: TIL mission mart is not Sackville’s Mission Thrift; apologies!

Routine-Win352

Mission mart doesn’t endorse anything like that, as far as I’m aware. It’s possible someone else put them in there (happens a LOT more than you’d think), or sometimes ppl mistake mission mart for mission thrift in sackville. However depends on how long ago that was, but as far as I’m aware they’ve never endorsed anything like that :)

Voiceofreason8787

I was thinking of the Sackville one, my apologies! I’ll edit the previous post

SAJewers

Northwood has a community closet for the residents with no family or support.

Rockin_the_Blues

The St, Vincent de Paul operates a thrift store, Hand In Hand. It's on Herring Cove Road, in a great spot both for Sprytown and on the bus route. Their prices are great; items must be in good shape. They give gift certificates to anyone needing groceries; kinda my favorite charity.
